The groundbreaking New York Times bestseller now available for the first time in trade paperback, with a new Introduction
When it was originally published in 1982, The G Spot was the first book to prove the existence and define the location of the Gräfenberg spot, a patch of erectile tissue that can be felt through the front wall of the vagina, directly behind the pubic bone. In print continuously for twenty-two years, it has sold more than 1,000,000 copies to date international.
This first-ever trade paperback edition includes a new introduction by Dr. Hilda Hutcherson, author of What Your Mother Never Told Your about S-E-X , which brings the research in the book up-to-date and explains its continued relevance. Now a new generation of men and women can take advantage of the insights and practical suggestions of this classic work.
While presenting a little bit of practically useful knowledge, I really feel like the authors of this book should be ashamed of themselves for knowing so little about what they're actually talking about. This entire book reads like a high school student's last minute paper without much of any research properly cited. Inferences and assumptions are made, and along the way the authors cut down on other (more legitimate) researchers because of inferences and and assumptions that THEY made, without any evidence that speaks to the original point OR to refute claims of established research that already exists.
What it boils down to: I feel that there is little value to this book beyond the first couple chapters. Don't read this expecting any hard science to back it up, because you'll find none at all. The only value this book had for me personally was to give a couple ideas about experimentation with female partners. I believe that the authors jumped to far many conclusions with their research, and spent too much time muddying the names of legitimate researchers who paved the way for their half-cocked experiments on sexuality.
Mostly, it reinforced my own beliefs. I did learn to distinguish between climax and orgasm, as well as the female prostate is a part of the G spot. The most interesting part were the little horror stories as a result of sexual ignorance and lack of communication.
This book was first published in 1982. In 2001, the G-spot was finally recognized as a functioning female anatomical organ, and was given the medical term "female prostate." See Deborah Sundahl's reference.
This book discusses human sexuality with emphasis on the female body. Geared toward women who want to better understand how to increase their sexual pleasure and their partners.
Vale a pena?
While I did find parts of this book interesting, and acknowledge that it has the potential to help people, women in particular, I also found it overly repetitive and not presented in the most clear and easy to read and digest fashion. The last chapter in particular (The Best Is the Enemy of the Good) seemed completely unnecessary and I skimmed it at best.
Luckily, the chapter describing the exercises was easy enough to understand, and the chapters before that were quite interesting and thought provoking.
If you suffer from female problems, this might be a good book to read. Or, if you're like me and have a strange sense of curiosity, the first couple chapters should give you plenty to consider, and some interesting facts to share with friends that totally don't want to hear it.
Just when you thought mankind had found all the erogenous zones it could handle came this blockbuster. Some say the G spot exists, and others that it doesn't, but the real fun is trying to find out where it should be. Sure, people laughed at this book when it came out in 1982, but they laughed at Reado Columbo too, and he discovered the clitoris; turned out it was right in front of our noses all the time.
No me gustó tanta repetición.
