To start with I really enjoyed this. Sunset Riders has always been my favorite arcade game and this captured a lot of that nostalgia. I particularly loved the background blurbs given at character select. The writing is at times straight forward, almost odd as Steve describes himself moving through the levels. There is a lingering feeling that Steve may know he is a videogame character, he definitely notices the oddities that come with such a role. Other parts of the writing are just beautiful prose, expertly adding an enormous amount of characterization to otherwise unexplored characters. The format of the book is equal parts narrative and artful.

On a side note I don't know who doesn't pick Colmando if given the choice.
