Merlin disappeared over a thousand years ago. Now they risk everything to find him.
After a year of exile, Tom is back in the Other with King Arthur. He joins his friends in the search for Nimue, a powerful witch who has disappeared. But has she been taken by force, or is she deliberately hiding? And is her disappearance linked to something, or someone, in the past?
Arthur's convinced it's about Merlin.
Arthur's desperate to find him, so Tom follows him on a dangerous trip that could end his new life before it's even begun. The search pits them not only against Nimue, but a dragon sorcerer, dragons, and the Sylphs.
Twice Born is the second book in the series Tom's Arthurian Legacy.
If you love magic, ancient gods, strange beasts and dragons, you'll love this re-imagining of the Arthurian legend.
I'm a writer, a pagan, and a witch, and consequently love all things magical. I write fictional books about witchcraft and the paranormal, and they are jam-packed with fabulous characters, colourful settings, plenty of action, and lots of humour.
I was born in England, in the Black Country, but moved to New Zealand in 2006. I lived near Wellington with my partner Jase, and my cats Sacha and Leia. However, in April 2022 we moved again! Yes, I like making my life complicated… I’m now living in the Algarve in Portugal, and loving the fabulous weather and people. When I’m not busy writing I read lots, indulge in gardening and shopping, and I love yoga.
Confession time! I’m a Star Trek geek – old and new – and love urban fantasy and detective shows. Secret passion – Columbo! Favourite Star Trek film is the Wrath of Khan, the original! Other top films – Predator, the original, and Aliens.
In a previous life I was a singer in a band, and used to do some acting with a theatre company. For more on me, check out a couple of my blog posts. I have also written a blog about how I finally became comfortable about calling myself a witch. It's called Leaning into my Witch.
This series is a must for all those readers who are fans of Arthurian tales and lore, and Twice Born is the second book in the series where we once again catch up with Arthur who is now living in the land of the fay and Tom who is called to return, his cousin Beansprout who had decided to stay there after their first visit and all the marvellous fay creatures, some friendly and others definitely dangerous. In this awesome book we finally get to meet Merlin, because let's say the truth those who love Arthurian tales must first and foremost love Merlin, at least i do! Merlin is also resurrected, so also twice born after being killed by Nimue the witch who he was also so enamoured of. In this book we get to travel over greater distances all over the land of the fey and to meet up with wonders of the fey including dragons, sylphs, a llamia, cervini, dryads and so much more. My only sorrow was that dragons are killed of brutally in this book because i love dragons however the fact that their many body parts are turned into gold and jewels is a first and amazing. In this book we see the women teaming up together so that Nimue, Brenna and Beansprout decide to stay together whilst the guys leave the home of the Beloved. Towards the end of the tale, after so many adventures we see the friends parting ways and all taking different routes towards their new beginnings but i am sure that we can look forward to many more adventures in the very near future where the group of friends team up once again to take us readers on their many marvellous adventures in the other world!
I had a lot of fun with Twice Born. I really wanted to explore some of the other myths about the King Arthur legend, and Merlin and Nimue is a doozy! I suggest you check out my website, because I've posted some blogs and Nimue and Vivian the Lady of the Lake being two interchangeable characters in the legends.
This story takes place about year after the end of Tom's Inheritance, and Tom returns to the Other to join King Arthur and his friends on the search for a missing priestess. Tom's relationships with his new friends continue to grow, and he starts to find out the consequences of life with Arthur.
I explore more of the Other, and a couple of my new favourite places are in this book: Holloways Meet, and Dragon's Hollow. So, yes, you've guessed it. There are dragons in this book. And Tom get's to explore another realm - The Realm of Air, and the Sylphs are not as friendly as those from the Realm of Water! And there are some new characters, the Cervini, who are Stag/Deer shape-shifters. I again draw on the old myths for this. Merlin loved to shape-shift into a stag.
I do lots of research for my books, and always like to incorporate the old legends into my new stories, so if you know the Arthurian legends well, you'll spot some of the links.
There's lots going on, check it out, and enjoy the fun!
What a whirlwind of a story! This fast-paced adventure follows two cousins as they learn magic, fight dragons, and encounter ancient myths and meet legends out a time. I loved it.
If, like me, you've never quite got over the fact that there won't be anymore books featuring one Harry Potter, Yu should turn your attention to two books by T.J. Green: 'Tom's Inheritance' and 'Twice Born'.
'Twice Born' is the brilliant sequel to 'Tom's Inheritance', but would work equally well as a standalone novel. It's a wonderful story that explores the age-old theme of the battle between good and evil, and yet the complexities and motivations of the characters give 'Twice Born' a completely original and most enchanting story.
T.J. Green has infused this novel with a richness of magic, myth and adventure that is hard to adequately describe. The reader is drawn into this story so completely that one loses track of time and place while reading.
It's wonderful to travel through The Other with King Arthur, Merlin and Nimue as well as Green's original characters in Tom, Beansprout, Woodsmoke and Brenna. As a reader, I felt protective of key characters when they were in danger and rejoiced with them in their victories. Naturally, I was sad when I realised the end was coming, so I tried to read it slower to make it last just a little longer.
Green also demonstrates her skill in world-building and fantasy in the variety of different realms she has created, and in the people and creatures who inhabit them. The scenes created in this book are full of marvellous sights, rich sounds and incredible experiences that the reader feels as though they are sharing with the characters.
I do believe that if I, like Tom and Beansprout, were given a chance to live in The Other forever, I'd jump at the opportunity. It's a wonderful, magical place, and I'm thankful to T.J. Green for taking me there twice.
Now, I'm just hoping for another book in the series. Please don't disappoint me, Ms Green!
I really enjoyed the second installment of Tom's Inheritance. As the first book centers around the myth of King Arthur the second is more about Merlin and Nimue however Arthur still plays a part. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow and the introduction to new characters. A really good read.
This series is a must for all those readers who are fans of Arthurian tales and lore, and The Silver Tower is the second book in the series where we once again catch up with Arthur who is now living in the land of the fay and Tom who is called to return, his cousin Beansprout who had decided to stay there after their first visit and all the marvellous fay creatures, some friendly and others definitely dangerous. 🕸️🕸️ONE ADVENTUROUS THRILL🕸️🕸️ Incredible! Green brought out the big guns with this skillfully spun debacle, weaving a cocoon so intricately and precise, drawing us deeper into this tangled web, until nothing else exists, keeping you riveted on a razors edge and frozen to your seat, launching this jewel to a whole new level. Throw in arduous trials and challenging triumphs, traversing the dramatic twists and hairpin turns, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Anarchy, mayhem and chaos rule the roost, broken boundaries and dissolved limitations are amplified and exploited, showcasing the crazy quirks and defying bents, reaching deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of determination, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Green, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.
For starters, I did not read Tom's Inheritance book, so I may not be very much into the context. This book is fast-readable, it has a good story for young teenagers who enjoy fantasy books. The character I most liked was Nimue. The things I did not like about the book was that it didn't connect to me as a normal fantasy book would. The adventure they went through didn't "pump by blood faster" if you know what I mean. I feel like this book could be compared to an rpg game. There's a main quest and then some smaller quests comes along. It describes very well what is going on, but the feeling that we should had felt along the story, I didn't get them. Also I didn't get to understand who's the main character on the book....
This is a wonderful fantasy, especially for young adults. Imagine the thrill of riding to adventure alongside your reborn ancestor, the magnificent King Arthur! This revised edition is set wholly within the other world, mainly in the Realm of Earth, with a brief but memorable visit to the Realm of Air. Those sylphs are tougher than you might expect! There are many mentions of individuals and artefacts from the Arthurian legends. The descriptions, especially of places, are really fine, and the magic is fascinating.
Tom realizes he made a leaving. Beansprout is a coming to her own. Merlin is missing again after being awakened. You won't believe what the dragons turn to when they are killed.
This is story goes more into the characters. There so many great moments in this book, I don't want to give away the story. I recommend reading this story, you will enjoy it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
For fans of King Arthur’s stories. Not just for young adults. Very easy to read, you become part of the story and want to know what happens next. Travel through the fairy realm with King Arthur, Merlin, Nimue, Tom, Beansprout, Woodsmoke and Brenna. Enjoy another adventure meeting new characters and seeing new sights. Looking forward to the next book.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Twice born was a fast-paced magical mystery adventure of epic proportions and if you love Arthurian legends this book is an awesome read, its one I will re-read often it was that captivating a story and full of wonderfully descriptive writing and amazing characters.
Wonderful second adventure with Arthur and Tom, meeting of new people, battles to fight and all Leading to the discovery of a long lost merlin, but more trouble to come. A must read, now on to the 3rd.
Really enjoyed this follow up as Tom, Arthur and crew go on a search for merlin. These stories are multi generational. I loved it and I'm sure my young niece would love it too
Listened to the audiobook of this series. Enjoyed the way the author writes in a fashion that could make the reader feel like they saw it for themselves!
This series just keeps getting better! The reawakening of King Arthur moves forward as the group hears that there is a possibility that Merlin can be found too! It's a race against time as they begin their quest to find Merlin. Loving the series!
Very well told story Tom and company are looking for Nimue who has put a spell on Merlin. They meet many mythical characters that Tom thought were only in stories and have great challenges thrown in their path. I received this book as an ARC.
This is the second book in the series. It is an adventure fantasy book with Arthur and Merlin and a host of new characters. This book and the series are excellent.
I really liked this one -- While not having read Tom's Inheritance, I didn't find that to be a bad thing as I was able to follow along with the story. It's a fun fantasy romp with Arthur and Merlin. My only gripe, if it is one, and it may just be me, is that it took me too long to figure out the "Twice Born" person from the title was referring to Merlin. The book didn't immediately point to Merlin as the thrust of the plot, but, like I said, it may have just been me as I have yet to read the first book.
Besides my being thick-headed, it was a very enjoyable read. Recommended!!

A really fun re-interpretation of the legend, with modern day time travellers thrown in the mix. It has it all, magic spells, talking weapons, fighting dragons all woven around Arthur's quest to find and possibly release Merlin. But then, does Merlin want to be released? Not too much violence - though you can't slay a dragon without getting some blood on your hands, but it def. kept me turning pages. Good fun.
A well-written read for young adults, it has a flowing style with an engaging voice, that links into the legendary King Arthur, Merlin and all that crowd! I would recommend you pick up a copy of the first book, 'Tom's Inheritance', to really immerse yourself in the story and gain double the enjoyment. Well done to the author, T J Green.
Great take on an old legend. Lots of magic, mystery and legend. I had a good time reading this. A good read for not only YA, but anyone who likes a fun read.
You did a wonderful job keeping my interest going. Not reading anything else but this book and still could follow it well. I liked the way you made us see just the places and described things like the dragons. Some authors don't take the time to do that very thing that is important to put people into the seen. You do that very well. Thanks and keep up the writing.
