Michael has moved on, can his Justice Enforcer make a difference?
Does the Sun come up in the morning?
The New York City-State wakes up and their world has been shaken to its core. The Enforcers have been scattered, but they aren't finished. This vampire is but a bump in their road to keeping the city-state in the hands of the CEO's.
The Were's are involved, some leave, some stay and new alliances are made and an old one broken.
However, in the end, it always comes back to heart and determination.
Something that you often have to find for yourself, when life beats you down and Valerie is made of the right material to see it through.
Claimed By Honor is part of The Kurtherian Gambit Universe.
** As noted in other series set in the Kurtherian Universe, there IS cursing in this book, occasionally, it's funny, too. **
JUSTIN SLOAN wrote video games before becoming a full-time author, with credits on such games as Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, Walking Dead, and Marvel and mobile games. Now you can find his military science fiction and space superheroes books on Amazon, KU, and Audible.com. He taught Muay Thai kickboxing and Marine Corps Martial Arts, and can play three songs on the bagpipes. Justin holds advanced degrees in international relations/economics and creative writing. Oh, and he acted in movies for a bit - all small roles though.
So, question. Why do straight authors fail to recognize the chemistry between two people of the same sex? The chemistry between Valerie and Cammie is too hot to ignore. Weird. Anyway I digress.
In this book Valerie meets Akio and Yuko before they continue their search for Michael. She learns a lot from them about the old days. She is even more determined to for fill the role Michael has tasked her with. The old enforcers attack the wall and with Akio and Yuko she manages to beat them off.
She learns Cammie is in trouble so she goes and saves her (see chemistry) without a second thought. She the continues and to take out the alpha wanting Cammie dead.
There is an incredible fight with the old enforcer commander. Looked for a moment there Valerie had bit off more than she could chew. But with a little help from her friends she prevailed. So the rebuilding of New York city continues. I'm off for the next book.
Great Series so far. Great narration by Kate Rudd.
This is a really fun series. So much action and butt kicking by Valerie, I love a strong female lead. I am looking forward to the next book and I hope it shows up on audible soon.
This is a bit different from what I normally listen to but I am enjoying it. I did like the first book better but this was excellent too.
You get vampires, weres great fighting and some really funny sarcasm. There is so much dialogue throughout the entire book, its fantastic.
As for the narration it was superb. Kate Rudd does a fantastic job with the men's voices and gives everyone a distinct voice. Her reading voice is great and she reads with emotion. Valerie's voice is awesome!
Can't wait for book 3 Judgement has Fallen to come out on audible.
I have gone back and started the series that came before this, Death Becomes Her. And I do hope they put all of that series on audible, right not there are only the first 2 available.
I keep stumbling across books in the Kurtherian Gambit series. I have really enjoyed the journey of reading this entire series as well as all the in between books that give a back story of the characters. I was pretty well invested and have introduced other avid readers to the Kurtherian Gambit Universe.
I really don’t know what to make of this book, there are some bits that are really quite good and keep me interested, but the whole thing feels as if it has been thrown together without a great deal of planning or thought. It just felt a bit too frenetic and quite a lot of the plot relies on the author making Valerie not just impulsive put also quite stupid at times. There is also the ridiculous need to keep trying to prove the connection with the original Kurtherian Gambit series. What was the point of including Yuko and Akio?
I wish the story would just concentrate on Valerie and I could definitely do without any romantic interest in Jackson.
Former Vampire Princess, now New World Justice Enforcer, Valerie has the demanding and often dangerous task of ridding the streets of Commander Strake and his army of CEOs - renegade Forsaken and Nosferatu vampires, werewolves and assorted were beasts who hunt vampires to drain their blood - and the downtrodden humans who resort to whatever they can gain to sell, or steal to survive, once 'freed' from their masters' tyranny.
Why do Cammie and Royland support Valerie? What roles do they play under her command? Who is Adrien and who has he sworn revenge on and why? How does Valerie kill Commander Strake? Who escapes her justice? Who are Yuko and Akio and whose side are they on in the fight for justice and law enforcement?
As the story continues clear factions arise, although some old hatreds remain between the Weres and the Vampires, as well as the mistrust and fear felt by ordinary citizens. This enhanced sense of danger can be felt both by Valerie, with her developing powers of telepathy and ability to 'push' overwhelming emotions onto those nearby and Cammie and others of her Enforcement Team. The way Justin Sloan and Michael Anderle brilliantly weave the many threads of this, [and the other books in the Reclaiming Honor series] together, demonstrates definitively that their literary pairing is an act of fantastic genius - long may it continue!
Valerie has a lot to deal with, what with being given the job of Judge Enforcer by Michael himself - but then she has to stop the other Vampires, and the Weres, from killing each other, while also fighting a war against Captain Strake, and his enforcers, along with the three CEO's that had been running the city before she took over.
And, if that wasn't enough on its own, she had to work out which of the city's eight quadrant leaders were with her, or against her, too.
Between battling to save the city, and the people within it, while also trying to keep the fact that the Unknown World were now running things, Valerie was about run off her feet - only to realise that her Were friend, Carrie, was missing on a mission, and that the only way to guarantee her survival, was to go out of the embattled city herself, in order to bring her back.
This was an awesome story, and I'm loving this new kick ass Vampire Lady, who reminds me so much of a younger, more innocent Bethany Anne.
I'm really, really, hoping that these two great women meet some time in the future!
I'll be going on to read book three of this series: Claimed by Honor, after I've got some sleep, as it's now 3.13am, here in the UK as, once again, I've read through half the night, unable to put this book down! Lol
Lots of battles, but with purpose! A fun read with scifi romance being more than "jump on" , which could be "Were-" romance 😂! I also enjoy the author notes and understand the haters. Some are just unhappy when others do well. Why isn't it, " Wow, that is great! I want to do that, too! " The chance to belittle is just too strong. I was asked for an opinion on a teacher's "new" idea. It really wasn't that new nor something I felt would benefit me nor my class, but principals get excited and everyone has to notice what is going on. I observed and had to reply, "positively" of course. I complimented the strategy and the teacher's hard work to achieve her outcome. Want to guess how that got interpreted? I was too lazy to do it! Really!
Soooo the negative people can't work the way Michael and his team do. That is fine! Everyone will get there eventually, with dedicated work. Anyway ......An adventurous story with twists and turns, new fun characters, and a clear goal. And please be clear about the universes you are talking about. Where is the HOT sexy one? Not found it yet.
I absolutely love Valerie. No one can kick-ass the way she does, and then crack a joke. Both books I’ve read in this series were so funny and exciting, they were a real joy to read. And just like the first one the battles in this book were awesome. This is written by men, and men can’t write sex worth a dam, but they can sure write battles. Valerie’s speed and heads rolling, one right after another, was simply incredible.
This had a lot of the same characters in it but Sandra, Diego and Cammie are still my favorites, with Jackson coming in fourth. Looks like Valerie has met herself a romantic interest. That’s so great.
I had no idea I would have enjoyed a steampunk book so much but I’m sure glad I tried it.
Like I said “no sex” but the F-bomb was used 52 times. Unlike a lot of folks I don’t mind that word at all but if you do then don’t buy this book, then complain there bad language.
As to the narrator: I could listen to Kate Rudd narrate every book I buy. Her voices and feelings and emotions are just phenomenal.
Thanks to the gift from The Dark Messiah, Valerie is back and better than ever! Things aren't easy as she tries to pull a city together, defend it and hunt down the bad guys. Luckily she has built a great team who are more than able to have her back. Not to mention we get another cameo from a couple of people we already know and love. Diego and Cammie set off on a quest of their own, there are laughs, a few "oh shits" and a whole lot of badassery on their side adventure. Valerie is truly building something special and I look forward to her next installment!
Good story and definitely action packed. The lower rating has to do with a combination of things. The first is that it has quite a few typos in the main form of the wrong version of a word. Everything from singular/plural to incorrect tense, it's here. Sometimes it's wrong words entirely or missing words. It seemed the deeper I got in the book, the more errors there were. The other problem I found was that it seemed like the same scenes kept repeating, just insert a different bad guy and location. Sure, there were some differences, but not enough to my eyes. ✋🐺
Wow, this series gets better and better. At first I felt I wouldn't like this book because I'm more into other genres. But turns out, I loved it. It's packed full of action. And omg there were so many funny parts. Diego is my favorite character. I really liked Felix also. A were-horse?! Now I've heard everything. The guys should've saved that one for a PNR or erotica lol. I would buy it. We see more of this crazy messed up world Sandra and Valerie are trying to survive in. It's always interesting to see who they will meet next.
I picked this up late last night and was so unwilling to put it down I fell asleep and woke up with my kindle stuck to my face! Valerie is awesome. Sandra and Diego are awesome. Looking forward to the next instalment loads. This whole arc is awesome! As always, love the author's notes at the end, don't worry Michael, haters only hate because they can't compare to you and all your coauthors when it comes to blasting these books out into the world to so much success. Jealously is never pretty!
Gave the first book in this Kurtherian series a five Star rating because I love va!lives and Justin got Valerie's character right from the get-go! She's tough, tender and a bit crazy, my kind of character. The plot is good and strong, playing off the characters Michael Anderle started in the Bethany Anne series. Other characters are also well crafted and it was wonderful to see a glimpse of Michael again from another character's perspective. Keep up the good work, all you Indies, and I'll see you in the next book.
Valerie, enhanced by Michael, kicks butt dispenses justice and maintains her honor. She gathers an army by giving choices of joining her, leaving, or getting out of her way. She puts the hurt on the bad guys and saves her friends and innocents. She comes across an interesting hot guy that she has difficulty determining if he is with her or wants her dead. She hopes he is a good guy. I am looking forward to the next book.
For those of us who really enjoy the scenes of fighting, honor, and bloodshed, this is the book in the series. At least so far. There is no magic wand waving and poof the city is fixed. There's a lot of fighting, a lot of disagreement, a lot of down in the dirt fixing that needs to be done. We also get to catch up with some old friends, which is always nice. I'm just wondering where Merritt and Shonna are during this.
Valerie is now Michael's Justice enforcer. she is expected to return law to old Manhattan. and she hopes to remove the corrupt Commander Strake, abuser of Weres and Vampires alike. there is much killing to be done, in the name of justice.
Valerie really sunk her teeth in this one. nice new characters and good growth on continuing ones. still, gotta move on to the next one....you should, too
Audiobook review: Book 2 in the series is fast paced and action packed and picks up where book 1 lets off. Now that the takeover was prevented, Valerie and gang find themselves protecting people from additional outside forces and inside foes. Akio and Yuko make an appearance in their hunt for Michael. The characters are interesting and believable. The storyline is entertaining and likable. The narrator did a great job!
I absolutely love the whole Kurtherian Gambit universe. I like this series (reclaiming honor) but haven't reached love yet. It's the little things. If a person commits to someone then they shouldn't have wondering arousals. The polyamory shown is incredibly unhealthy, and it would be nice to see a healthy version. I do love the really strong and leading women, both in this series and the overarching universe.
Like the rest of the books in the Kutherian universe this book is a fast paced and fun ride Valerie grabs you and takes you with her.......just like BA. The character development is the key and the fast paced action just keeps me coming back for more........keep it up please
The story line kept me involved and rooting for Valerie and her following. The idea that the vampires and the weres are the result of an alien making a fighting force is new to me but intriguing. I liked the books a lot and am waiting impatiently for the next one.
I just love Justice....and Vampires...add in explosions Wereanimals, backstabbing, Fighting for Honor...then mix in sex, plot twists and a Katana.....I want to put the writers in a cell give them caffeine, Jerky, donuts, and steak until they write 30more books....I might be ready for a another spin off series then....watch your backs writers!
I'm sure that Justin Sloan was a great writer prior to joining up with Michael, the problem is I would never have heard anything about him prior to this book. He is a great writer! I look forward to reading this series as well as his other works. Yes it took me 3 years to find this series, but sooner or later I'll get to them all. ✌👍
I like Valerie a lot. She's very reminiscent of Bethany Anne, in a good way. She's got no problem kicking butt and taking names, but she's also reflective enough to make me think she won't become despotic. She's collecting friends and allies like no ones business. It's a fun read.
Thank you Justin Sloan for joining the Kutherian Universe. I love his new characters and we get a glimpse of Aiko and Yuko. Valerie, her friends and her ever growing army are fascinating. The characters are continuing to evolve and Justin writes great characters. Definitely a book and series to read. Don't forget the authors notes! Enjoy!
As with all the Kurtherian Books this one was so much fun to read. I find myself constantly checking my Email and Amazon for my next fix in my Kurtherian addiction.
I devour everyone of these books as they come out and love the side storyline that goes with the original series. This one is really starting to ramp up the excitement and I am anxiously awaiting the next book
I Love all the Kurtherian Series books. I get lost in the Characters and Plot of each and every one. Though I'm waiting for more of the Gambit Series to come out on Kindle, can't wait to see what TQB and her crew does next. Keep Up the GREAT Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The story keeps moving along keeping me reading to see what is going to happen next. There is a lot of action. The characters all seem realistic. Can't wait to read the next book.
It was great fun - plenty of action, fights, a little romance and working to protect the city. Things aren’t going smoothly and it was kind of lame to send Cammie and Diego to the tiger’s den. Their travels slowed the tempo of the book.
Justin has produced another work of art, with all the necessary elements. I'm enjoying the way that the main characters pop in and out, being interwoven in this side series. I'm hooked 😁
