Passion. Ferocity. Respect. Shane, second in command of the Norcal pack, left home with a mission—to find and rescue his pack mate’s sister. One problem… How does a wolf rescue a woman who doesn’t need saving? Forced to travel from the foothills of Colorado to Northern California with his intended target, while in his wolf form, Shane’s respect and attraction for the woman grows. After escaping from a pack of shifters who viewed Rose and the other women as little more than walking wombs, she has one focus—finding and freeing her sister and best friend. The last thing she needs is a distraction of the male variety. So, of course, a tall, sexy drink of water appears. One sip can’t hurt, right? While Rose balances duty and desire, Shane, a man of few words, must convince Rose that she is his mate…for life. If you enjoy brave and stubborn women and sexy, determined alpha males, then download Saving the Wolf today. It is book 3 of the Norcal shifter series, and it can be read as a standalone novel. Between a Wolf and a Hard Place—Book 1 Bargain with the Bear—Book 2 Saving the Wolf—Book 3
I have been reading the series and do recommend reading them all in order for the most enjoyment. The basic background is that three friends were taken by shifters to be mates. Two of the women found a way out of their imprisonment and have found love and happiness. The sister of the last missing one has sent a member of her new pack to track down the missing woman. He finds her but she is not looking for someone to rescue her.
Rose is tough but she has a big heart too. She really cares about others and will risk anything to keep her sister and friend safe even if they don't need her protection. I enjoyed the story and felt Rose really deserved the happiness Shane offered. Rose takes a lot of blame but really was only doing the best she could under the circumstances. Shane is a good guy and a good match for Rose. They have good chemistry. The story is told at a good pace and keeps your interest. It was nice to see them all find love.
Saving the Wolf: A Norcal Shifter Novel by Annalise Nixon is Book 3 of the Norcal Shifters Series. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
If you enjoy sexy shifters and badass females, then this is the book to pick up. Out of the whole series, this is the book I enjoyed most. Giving readers what they love most in paranormal romances, Ms. Nixon brought her A game with Saving the Wolf.
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
This 3rd book in the Norcal Shifters starts off bloody !! And gets scarier fast !! Rose is as stubborn as a mule and Shane ( her mate to be) has to be crafty in order to stay with her and give ger the help she doesn't think she needs . Add in a truly viscous double cross by someone she almost trusted and you have the makings of this excellent book by A.C. Nixon . 4.5⭐'s . I received a gifted copy of the book and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
Captured and told they were to mate with the pack, the women free themselves. Rose wants to find her sisters and save them from the same fate she just escaped from. She doesn't know they've already been saved. Her mate has to prevent her from making the biggest mistake of her life.
This is the first book in this series I have read. I was gifted a copy and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I had a little trouble following the story since it is the third book in the series and I haven't read the other two, but after a few chapters I realized that it didn't really matter. Rose and several other women have been captured by shifters. Apparently the shifter population is declining and shifters are forcing humans to be their mates so they can try to produce children. Rose does not plan on being one of them. She manages to incapacitate their kidnappers, but one of the other women murders most of them while they are unconscious. They steal a van and escape, but they don't really have a place to go. Shane is a wolf shifter who has been sent to find Rose and rescue her. He is somehow not surprised to find that she didn't need his help. He shifts and she takes him with them thinking he is really a wolf dog. The more he is around Rose, the more convinced he is that she is his mate. He knows she is not going to be easy to convince, given her experience with her captors. Shane was sent to find Rose by her sister, who is not a member of his pack. Rose's connection to Iris is leading her to his pack's home. She believes her sister needs rescue, little does she know this is far from the truth. Can Rose find happiness with a shifter? What will she think of her sister's triad romance? Will the pack she escaped from let them go this easily? I need to go and find the other books in the series.
Rose has made a plan to escape from the wolf shifters who are holding her and her friends captive. She needs to escape to find her sister Iris and her friend Sherry. She does not know that both Iris and Sherry are safe and now happily mated to shifters. She makes some stew for the wolf shifters and puts a drug in it to knock them out; when they are unconscious Lindsey kills 4 of the men. Shane, a wolf shifter who has been sent by Iris to find and save Rose and bring her back, comes on the scene in his wolf form. Rose and the other women are loading up a vehicle to drive away, so Shane stays in his wolf form and goes with them. Kaitlin, Lindsey's sister, is in love with Christian, one of the wolf shifters who bought the women from their kidnappers. When Christian shows up at the place where Iris, Sherry and their mates live, Kaitlin willingly runs out to him even though he has knocked Iris to the ground and one of his men is going to shoot Iris. Shane kills Christian and Kaitlin shoots herself. You will laugh out loud at the end of the story when Iris and her mates and Sherry and her mate show up at the pack house where Shane and Rose are living. Lots of action, danger, excitement, and even joy in this great story. I was given an Advanced copy of this book and am freely and voluntarily writing this review.
Rose was held captive by a bunch of wolf shifters along with a bunch of other women. She wants to escape the wolves and look for and rescue her sister and best friend. She is a witch and with her knowledge of herbs is able to put the shifters asleep. She meant to tie them up but one of the other women killed them all before Rose could stop them. Now the women are on the run. Shane was sent to rescue Rose and bring her back to his pack with her sister and friend. He is traveling in wolf form and arrives after Rose and the women rescue themselves. Shane thinks that Rose was responsible for the deaths of the other shifters but he also feels that she is his mate so he is torn. His wolf accompanies the woman back to his pack. Rose is happy her friends are safe but feels a little unneeded now that they have their mates. The pack is wondering what to do with the women who killed wolf shifters and the remains of the kidnapping pack is out for blood after the deaths of their pack members. This is a good story with lots of action and twists. Shane is a great mate and Rose was a good woman in a bad situation. This story is a stand-alone but it is so much better read after the previous stories in the series. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my review.
It has been a while since book 2 came out so I went back to refresh my memory. I really recommend reading books 1 and 2 first to get the full benefit out of this story. This story did not disappoint and I really enjoyed it. Rose and the other women get free of their captors but at a high price. Shane has been sent to find Rose but he lies by omission in not telling Rose who and what he is and that he was sent to find and save her. I really can understand Rose going after her sister and friend to save them thinking they had been bought and were being held captive but she did not do any recon, she was just going to shoot a man without knowing what was what. She is supposed to be smarter than that. The ending was sad in that they are betrayed. That person was really unbalanced to do what they did. This is my honest review of this book.
If you like shifters with romance and some violence, you will want read this third book in the series. The story contains a lot of conflict. There are bad shifters, good shifters and the women that love and hate them. I do suggest reading in order to avoid some confusion in the beginning.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
