Fenici, ecco a voi il secondo libro della serie “Gentlemen’s Club”.
Questo libro si è piacevolmente rivelato più movimentato del primo, rimane comunque una scrittura un po’ adolescenziale e anche le scene di sesso sono affrontate con un certo pudore.
In compenso la trama ha guadagnato un certo spessore, gli intrighi che troviamo sono accattivanti anche se l’autrice non è ancora riuscita a trovare la giusta dose di introspezione della protagonista nel corso della storia.
Il primo libro si è concluso con la macchina di Nick che viene attaccata, l’autista muore e lui e Ilana rimangono feriti.
Sembra che per loro non ci siano possibilità, gli sportelli sono bloccati e la macchina sta prendendo fuoco, ma fortunatamente i soccorsi arrivano in tempo e Ilana e Nick vengono portati in ospedale.
Tra i due, Nick è quello che ha riportato le ferite più gravi e, dopo un intervento chirurgico, il suo consulente per la sicurezza, Rocco Moretti, fa trasferire entrambi in una località segreta, fino a quando la polizia di New York non avrà trovato i responsabili dell’agguato.
Nella nuova città, Parigi, i due risiedono in un appartamento, mentre in quello al piano inferiore è alloggiata la squadra di sicurezza che ha il compito di proteggerli.
Nick e Ilana occupano stanze separate, le ferite dell’uomo devono ancora guarire, però il loro rapporto cresce sempre di più con il passare dei giorni.
Nonostante la preoccupazione per tutto quello che sta succedendo, i due si godono Parigi, visitano i musei e girano la città.
Nick organizza una serata romantica su uno yacht lungo la Senna, una cena stellata e un viaggio romantico; con il certificato del medico che lo dichiara guarito, i ragazzi riusciranno finalmente a fare l’amore.
Ilana decide che, una volta tornata a New York, non si esibirà più come ballerina; visti gli sviluppi della sua relazione con Nick non pensa sia più opportuno farlo, così invia una mail a Isabella e le comunica la sua decisione, chiedendole se al club è possibile farla lavorare al bar o come cameriera.
Le indagini della polizia sembrano aver avuto successo: viene arrestato Forbes Endicott, uno dei concorrenti di Nick per l’acquisizione della Centerpost, con l’accusa di essere il mandante del tentato omicidio di lui e Ilana.
Tutti sono convinti della colpevolezza dell’uomo, ma Rocco lo mette sotto sorveglianza; sarà veramente tutto finito?
Non credo proprio, c’è molto ma molto di più.
Se volete scoprire cosa succederà di imprevedibile vi consiglio di leggere il libro.

Nick and Ilana escaped death when their limo is involved in a fiery crash and a hail of bullets. Hiding out in Paris while the police and Nick's private security investigate, they explore all that Paris has to offer. Their time together strengthen their bond and their love. After an arrest is made, Nick and Ilona return to New York with heavy security. Ilona's days as a stripper are at an end as she is hired as an assistant manager at the Gentlemen's Club. Threats continue as the race to acquire Centerpost comes down to the wire. The death of a competitor shakes Nick and Ilana to the core as they realize their prime suspect's innocence.

This story is romantic, suspenseful, dramatic and intriguing. It's evenly paced and an enjoyable reading experience.

Wow, loved Vol 2!!!!!!! Erika Rhys elevates her game with the next installment of The Gentleman's Club.

Nick who made his money by selling his tech company and Ilana a former stripper who is working towards her MBA and is trying to help support her mom. They meet at The Gentleman's Club where Ilana works and that is how their relationship starts.

Nick and Ilana barely surviving a vicious attack leave New York for their safety. Working with Nick's security team they are trying to figure out who wants them dead before heading back to New York, during which they are falling more in love every day. As their romance deepens they think the threat is gone so they return to New York only to find out the killer has strikes again.

Erika Rhys's writing keeps getting better and better. Vol 2 is full of romance and suspense and Ms Rhys finds a great balance. Nick is a fabulous romantic lead, he is alpha when he needs to be and it is obvious how much he loves Ilana. Ilana is a strong woman who is a perfect match for Nick. They are the perfect romantic couple. I love the mix of romance and suspense - its definitely one of my favorite types of books to read. There is a cliffhanger but the good news is Vol 3 is only a few weeks away.

If you are looking for a great new series with great characters don't look any further than The Gentleman's Club - I promise you won't be disappointed.

Smart take on a girl down on her luck who meets a rich man...throw in brains and brawn with corporate affairs and you have a captivating tale that will keep you wanting more..can't wait to see who's. Responsible since there are many on the field...well minus one now..
