This is a soldier's story, from basic training to running a marathon, from studying first aid to prison, from boxing to close protection, to the SAS and hostage rescue, to Mi6. It is a very long and progressive story over many books.
Mr. Wolak's creation of an intensive series depicting the development of an exceptional Special Forces warrior is unique. Book one of his series did reveal the principle's internal faults and attributes, which established Wilco's drive to be at his his personal peak of achievement regardless of the perception of the perception of those who claimed authority over him. In following the Lone Wolf series, Mr. Wolak reveals both the development of his personal approach in developing his characters, as well as a coherent, highly believable , and most definitely fast moving set of scenarios that focus his readers so acutely on his series that it could be called an " addiction "- a positive , not a negative connotation ! The Lone Wolf series has become a very good read as I currently start book 5, and I look forward to further adventure with Wilco & company .
More action than two tomcats in a sugar-bag! While this book continues the action, hostage rescue and just generally fighting bad guys, it is building the foundations for other adventures into the realms of espionage, deception, a double life with friends in low places. Also an intro into jungle survival so there is probably a change of scenery in the offing. I enjoyed this book, as I have the previous books in the series. It may not win a Nobel Prize for literature but it is certainly entertaining, escapist writing and I look forward to reading the next instalment.
