Grace Harper is in hiding. When her father died six months before, she never imagined her unexpected inheritance would threaten her life. What better place to disappear than on a cattle ranch, doing the work she spent the last nine years helping her father with? And surely she’ll be safe hidden in Texas, thousands of miles from her trouble.
Monty Dominguez has spent much of his life working on the Double Rocking B Ranch in Seguin, Texas. He’s worked his way from a 12-year-old orphan stable boy, to ranch foreman and trusted friend of the family. There’s not much he wouldn’t do to protect the people and land he loves, even if it means giving up his own dreams.
When the danger trailing Grace discovers her hideout, there’s only one way to save the people—especially the man—she’s come to love. Can she find the courage for the ultimate sacrifice to protect those she’s put at risk? Just as Monty’s dreams might finally be within reach, will one misstep cost him everything?

What a lovely trio of redemptive, feel-good stories! I completely enjoyed getting to know all the folks on this small-town Texas ranch. These stories have just the right amount of spunk and action to liven up the sweetly romantic plots. Settings and cultures are figuratively painted across each chapter with vibrant brushstrokes. I’m a big fan of Misty M. Beller’s Mountain series so I’ve had my eyes on this Texas series for a while now and it does not disappoint!
In my opinion, the narrations for the series are fair to good. For me, the first book’s performance is best followed by the third book with the second book starting out a bit rough but improving in quality as the story progressed.
I borrowed these audiobooks through an Audible Escape free trial. I was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
I've enjoyed so many of Misty's books. This one too except for one passing comment. (The same lesson portrayed in Book 2 of this series which I couldn't finish reading because of it.) One character gave the advice that the individual would have to forgive God. However, that implies God has done something wrong, which God cannot do. He only does what is right. (Psalm 18:30)
If that line hadn't been in this story, I would've given it 4 or 5 stars. As is, I can't do so with a clear conscience.
I received an advance copy of this story in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts are my own.
Texas Rancher Trilogy #3 The Rancher Takes a Cowgirl Misty M. Beller
Last of a trilogy of related romance tales. The ranch here is unique in many ways. The family has the entire bunkhouse dine around the long family dining table in the big house. Monty, the ranch foreman was taken on as an orphan at age 12 and has worked there for 20 years. The boss’ wife Anna hired on a woman as cowgirl usurping his authority and over-riding her husband’s reservations. The new hire bunks with the family. There’s a sense of unease about the situation giving the feeling the gal is running from something even the reader gets only snippets of. Monty has hired close relatives to work with him.
When a cousin threatens to cut his grass Monty is finally moved to mark his territory. This is a romance and it sticks to the formula. The couple attain lip lock. They encounter a crisis in the form of her nemesis and Monty rides in like a knight of old to save the day and they live happily ever after.
In the interest of honesty I didn't read this book but I did listen to it and wanted to share my thoughts. Grace shows up at the Double Rocking B ranch asking for a job as a cow hand and since none of the men are around Anna hires the strange woman dressed like a man. When Monte the ranch manager finds out he is not at all happy about a woman being around all his men. This story was exciting as we see the beginnings of women working in a man's world. Especially since it seems that the new woman is keeping a secret. I really enjoyed listening to this last book in the series that brings trouble to the ranch. There is suspense and romance as we try to figure out what Grace is hiding. A great finish to the series! I received a free code from the publisher to listen to this book on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.
I think this was a well written story and a good conclusion to the series however I was sad to not have any more news on Edward and Alejandra or an epilogue for Monty and Grace. It does leave it to one’s own imagination how their stories continued though. It was nice to see Misty’s writings in this kind of series versus the mountain traveling families from the first series of hers I had read. She is a favorite author now and I understand how much hard work it is to just finish a story so no hard feelings over a no epilogue ending. The ending was really good though.
Heard 1-3 in Hoopla Audio app. 2015 series. Having recently heard the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series (2025), I'd say the author's storytelling/writing has grown, which is to be expected. Both series show strong Christian characters whose faith grows through or despite adversity. Scriptures and prayer are used in the stories when applicable. Not all characters are overtly Christian and there are legitimate bad guys. She writes characters I'd want to know if I lived in the 1800s.
It was interesting to see barbed wire appear as a new invention that they had never heard of in this series. Same review added to all books in series.
Grace Harper is hiding on a cattle ranch. Monty Dominguez works on the Double Rocking B Ranch in Seguin, Texas as a ranch foreman. When danger catches up to Grace, Monty tries to help her.
I enjoyed this story, as I did every story in this series. This was my favorite because it reminded me of my second oldest daughter. She was much like Grace, tough and ready to take on a tough assignment. (Alicia married a farmer and now with him, farms in Nebraska.)
There is tension, excitement, and fulfillment in this book. I loved it.
When Grace hires on as a cow puncher on the Double Rocking B Ranch, Monty is not pleased. As foreman, it was his job to hire & fire, and he was ready to fire her at her first mistake. But she only did good work, as his admiration grew. Then her past comes ca.ling and endangers them all. I was prepared to dislike this book due to the misspelled word near the beginning: "ya'll" is not a word. It's "y'all", y'all. Fortunately later in the book it was spelled properly. I believe this is the last in the series. It stood alone quite well.
3.5🌟 Audiobook (narrated by Peggy Sowersby) I liked this historical romance set in Texas. I always enjoy the cowgirl-ahead-of-her time trope.
Robin’s Ratings 5🌟 = Out of this world. Amazing. Unforgettable. A personal favorite. 4🌟 = Enjoyed/loved it. Couldn’t put it down. Will recommend to others. 3🌟 = Liked it. Glad I read it. Engaging/entertaining/interesting. 2🌟 = The book was okay, but I’ve enjoyed other books so much more. 1🌟 = For whatever reason, I didn’t like it and can’t recommend it.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. When Grace Harper’s father died, her step-brother became unbearable so she left California and ended up in Texas several months later, and hires on as a cowhand on the Double Rocking B Ranch. Monty Dominguez is the foreman and isn’t sure she can do the work, but she proves she is capable. As they work together, Monty and Grace become friends. An uplifting faith filled book about life on a ranch. A great addition to this series.
Grace Harper hires on at the Double Rocking D near Seguin, TX as cowhand. She is hiding from her step-brother who has already gotten the California ranch where she grew up.
Monty is the foreman at the Double Rocking D, and has been there since he was 12 years old.
I rated this book with 3 Stars. It was a good story and I enjoyed reading it, but it was average. I enjoy these for a relaxing, feel good, no thinking, quick in between kind of story. You know before you start reading it what is going to happen and how it is going to happen. I enjoy the "where" the story is told and more "how" they lived in that time. The main characters are fillers.
I loved the last book in this trilogy! The way she was so comfortable around Mexicans/Vaqueros led her to never consider their different heritages to matter, but her wearing pants was an issue in her mind. Lol. Definitely different priorities. I wish we would have had on update on the couple from book 2.
“What God brought together here -- would last forever.” And, I reached The End. What a terrific story! I loved the adventure; I felt the mystery; and I enjoyed the trust in faith when the Sheriff took charge. I’ve loved Monty throughout all the books and now he has his story. Thanks for bringing someone special into his life. Great series!
Grace has run away from her horrendous step brother who is after her for her money. The easiest way to hide is to dress and work like a man on a ranch far away. While at the ranch, she enjoys living in the main house and working with the men. One day Grace sees her step brother and she knows she needs to run away again.
Hard to put down, has very good flow. Greed is a nasty friend or relative. Enjoyed this story very much. This author is a great storyteller. Enjoy¡!!!!!!!!!
This was an amazing story of the challenges of a young woman trying to survive and hide from her step brother. While I enjoyed this story I wish there would have been an appearance of Alejandra and Edward Stewart.

So glad Monty found a woman to love. He's been such a strong loyal friend and head cowboy in these stories. Grace is the strong partner he needs. I wanted to strangle Grace's stepbrother myself. Horrible man. Great story with a great ending.
Misty Sellers books are so good. In this book Grace is a cowgirl and Monty is her boss. She is hiding out from danger. And they have to find their way.
Easy read, nice story about Grace, who runs away to find safety after her father dies on their cattle ranch in CA.
She’s trying to escape from her half brother and ends up at a cattle ranch in TX where she’s hired. The foreman is Monty, who is none too happy about adding her to his crew.
Misty M. Beller concludes this trilogy with an action filled story. I can imagine the upturned noses if Grace had appeared in town in her trousers. This story was fun, romantic and forward thinking. It was a good ending.
What a wonderful trio of heartwarming stories, and this third book of the series didn’t disappoint. So many great characters that come to feel like friends. I just wish there was another book that continued on with Grace and Monty’s story. I will have to leave that to my imagination. 5 ⭐️
