SPELLS BELLS was a fun read. A sleeping dwarf. Lots of zany fake dating adventures with possibly the worst dates ever! So hilarious! Emma and Gabriel dancing around the possibility of… something… Ah, Spellbound. This is a fun one if you like light, cozy paranormal mysteries. A cute quick read.
I think I should allow more time to pass between books in this series. I enjoyed it, but having listened to it [I had this in audio format] immediately after finishing book 2 I think it was too much of the same in too close of a time frame.
I like the world building in this series, and the supporting characters are fun and likable and quirky.
I mostly like Emma, but she occasionally hits me as a little whiny. She should be mostly getting settled in Spellbound at this point from my perspective so her continuing boo-hooing about her situation sometimes gets on my nerves. As I said, this probably wouldn't be *as* big a deal to me if there had been a gap between book 2 and book 3.
I do like this series and I will read future books. I just think I need to take a break between books in future.
Such a cute, cozy, supernatural read, I really love everything about Spellbound, the mysteries are fun and quirky, the characters are always entertaining and Emma Hart is just a wonderful lead character.
Cute newe series! Emma is a human that gets stuck in Spellbound, an enchanted town hidden from the normal world. Filled with supernatural creatures and magic of all kinds. She finds out she is a witch and becomes trapped in town. She becomes the local lawyer. Meanwhile she has to learn all about magic and how to be a with. This time she has speed dating to contend with and defend her friend Sophie who is accused of casting an endless sleep spell on her ex. LOts of interesting characters and light read!
Who cursed a dwarf and why? That’s a mystery for Emma to solve as one of the remedial witches is a suspect. Between trying to get her magic under control, Emma has to solve the mystery before her friend is found guilty
2.75 stars rounded up These novels are spice free, curse free, funny and light. Includes the standard elements of cultural appropriation such as voodoo dolls, spirit animals, dream catchers etc used as magical tools so to speak in a largely European set magical world.
This really is a cute, easy reading, fun series. None of the books are overly long. Emma is still learning her witch powers and how to be a public defender in the magical town of Spellbound. When a dwarf is found asleep in a clear coffin and Emma’s friend Sophie is suspected of cursing him, Emma does her usual investigating. She’s also trying to find out about her coven, possibly her background and what might have happened to her mother. This investigation includes speed dating and a matchmaking service, neither of which she is really interested in but are good places to ask questions. There is a few humourous dates with some very interesting characters – nice, obnoxious, some that don’t deserve the time she spends with them. And of course, she is still interested in Daniel. Like I said, this is a cute series, the mysteries are not too difficult although this one sort of surprised me. But everything flows together nicely and it’s enjoyable.
Welcome back to the fabulous Spellbound. This is where your fantasy of paranormal living is normal. Well, except for poor Emma.
This go around Emma finds herself defending a friend who is accused of pulling a sleeping beauty on one of the towns Dwarf's.
During Emma's mad rush to prove her friend Sophie's innocents, Emma finds herself signed up for matchmaking services. Not only does she go on some horrible dates but she uses the service to investigate. But will Emma find the evidence needed or get caught up in dating?
Books in the series include: Curse the Day, Book 1 Doom and Broom, Book 2 Spell's Bells, Book 3 Lucky Charm, Book 4
This is the third book in the Spellbound series and I enjoyed it quite a bit. There is humor, cute cozy mysteries, and fun magical bits. I especially like learning about Emma's journey to become a witch, and learning about her unique abilities that differ from Spellbound's coven. I will continue reading and would recommend for cozy mystery readers that enjoy a sprinkle of romance, a dash of paranormal, and heaps of fun.
This one is the third book in the series. I am really enjoying this series. Emma Hart is a funny and smart character. I am loving her growing friendships with the people in the town. We get to learn a little more about her coven in this one. This is just a really fun light-hearted series and one I highly recommend.
I unexpectedly, and delightedly, can’t get enough of these audiobooks! And the narrator is a perfect match, which doubles the fun! Looking forward to tomorrow’s walk and the next in series.
Very entertaining and cute third book in the series. I have been wanting to get into witchy stories and this cozy murder mystery series has shown me that I actually really like these kinds of stories, despite hating Halloween growing up.
I really like the main female character and her found family. Her owl familiar Sedgwick is hilarious, Gareth and his hairless cat are such cute side characters. I love the will they/ won’t they vibe with the fallen angel. I wish the romance was developed more but there are more books in the series that I haven’t read yet.
Terrific addictive read. Not so much for the mystery but more for how the characters develop and grow. She has started to settle in and has made good friends with her classmates. When a glass coffin is discovered in the woods with an occupant that is in an enchanted sleep her curiosity is arroused. Especially when one of her friends is charged with the crime. Can she unravel the truth of what happened? A terrific new town that is described so fully that you can imagine walking down its streets and characters that come alive before your eyes. A really amazing series that although have a mystery in them it is secondary to the main story. How she is making a life for herself in her new surroundings and the confidence she is gaining not only from herself but also from her friends.
. I crave being immersed in a different world and discovering magical adventures, which this series is able to deliver. After the slow introduction of the first book of introduction, this book was able to capture my attention and compel me to continue to read on. So I am very grateful this one was available through Kindle unlimited.
In this adventure, prepare for a whimsical ride to solve the mystery to who put a childish spell on the town council, with clues that don't add up. Although there were absolutely no clues about who actually cast the spell, the person responsible for the current magical debacle was finally exposed by Emma, with the assistance of the remedial witches.
This book can stand on its own, but it is probably easier to understand if you read the series in order, it was a clean presentation, and a mystery was solved --
Emma is back again and life is about to get strange and complicated.
First is a brownie who is being charged with stealing from his ex girlfriend.
Second was a friend being charged for something she didn't do. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. This has the Sheriff against Emma to help her friend.
A glass coffin containing Freddie, unrequited love, a vampire librarian and 2 older witches that both scare and enlighten Emma are all in the mix, of course with Daniel and Gareth along with Magpie and Sedgewick.
Emma has her hands full with both a case and a glass coffin mystery to solve. Emma also has brushes with speed dating and a matchmaking service along with meeting her first werelion.
This story is almost addictive, I never notice the time as I was immersed in the fun of the story. So much happening but everything with the case and coffin are resolved in the story, however, it would be better to read this one in sequence as many references are made to previous events in previous story.
The story flowed with such ease that you don't notice time flying past. The characters are fantastic including some new amazing additions. I can't wait to see what Emma gets up to next. I am enjoying these books immensely and can only recommend them as a fun, interesting read that has me reaching for the next one.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Emma Hart Freddie Heidi Agnes ---------------------------------- What happens? Emma is set to defend her friend from being accused of putting a dwarf into a deep sleep. She knows Sophie is innocent as she is the sweetest witch around but the lazy sheriff is too busy looking forward to being on the golf course than to investigate a possible murder. Her law case is defending a brownie who is being charged for stealing and stalking his ex girlfriend. Final thoughts I like the owl, hes a good addition to this story and I enjoy reading Emma's relationship with him. I didn't really enjoy the law case in this book, its a bit stereotypical as I'm pretty sure Brownie's are known for stealing. Its also kind of sad how its resolved but nice all at once? The murder/ish was very interesting. I was curious to see who had done that to Freddie but I was also really happy with how this is resolved. Its a good twist.
