Rich, beautiful and entitled, once upon a time he was king of the trust fund babies. He took anything and anyone he wanted, until one day, he walked away without explanation. Now, he’s an untouchable mystery, one I’m determined to crack. And I’m not talking about anything mundane like his bed. No, I want something far more valuable.
I want into his head.
Veronica Westwood has blown into my life creating chaos in her wake, and I don’t know quite what to do with her. Rich, beautiful and entitled, she represents everything I’ve sworn off in life, and her being unexpectedly clever doesn’t change that. Instincts warn me to stay away, and that’s just what I intend to do, no matter her attempts to wear me down. I’m good at saying no, or at least I was until I met her. I don’t understand it, but she’s like a weakness, and a man like me can’t have weakness.
Jennifer Dawson is the author of the popular Something New series, spicy, small town romance released with Kensington, and pens the dark and edgy contemporary romance series Undone.
Jennifer Dawson grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from DePaul University with a degree in psychology. She met her husband at the public library while they were studying. To this day she still maintains she was NOT checking him out. Now, over twenty years later, they’re married and living in a suburb right outside of Chicago with two awesome kids and a crazy dog.
Despite going through a light FM, poem writing phase in high school, Jennifer never grew up wanting to be a writer (she had more practical aspirations of being an international super spy). Then one day, suffering from boredom and disgruntled with a book she’d been reading, she decided to put pen to paper. The rest, as they say, is history.
These days Jennifer can be found sitting behind her computer, writing her next novel, chasing after her kids, keeping an ever watchful eye on her ever growing to-do list, and NOT checking out her husband. Review: Taken by Jennifer Dawson Taken by Jennifer Dawson is book Four in the "Undone" series. This is the story of Brandon Townsend III and Veronica Westwood. I have not yet read the other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book. But I so enjoyed this book so much, that I want to go back and read the other books. The writing of their story was great. It was a story that took you in and made you not want to put the book down. It had its emotional pull along with some hot story lines. I can't believe I have missed this series...so happy I am correcting that now. https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR...https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...
The Good. Oh my goodness. Brandon’s book had been on my list of highly anticipated romances, and I am NOT disappointed. It is as dirty, sexy, smutty, kinky, hot and emotionally satisfying as I’d hoped for. Brandon and Veronica are incredibly well matched couple, emotionally, physically and oh hells yes sexually. Veronica’s the jam to Brandon’s peanut butter, know what I’m sayin?
This is the fourth book in the series, and technically it can stand on its own, but the reading is richer if you start from the beginning because all the previous couples feature in Brandon’s life and romance. It ties up the main part of this series in a neat bow, and lets those heroes/heroines/friends advise Brandon through his own love tribulations. It even leaves a little doorway open for future consideration, which is a little tease that I enjoyed.
Dominance, control and submission are central to Veronica and Brandon’s romance and there are moments that edge into uncomfortable, since breath play is a big part of Veronica’s kink and the way Brandon manhandles her and the way they physically confront each other is not all gentle butterfly kisses. There are scenes that can push against some boundaries and may be a bit harder for a reader who’s perhaps a bit of a fluffy bunny….just sayin’.
However, it was just the right intensity for a character like Brandon who is about that domination with a hint of sadism. AND it was completely consensual, which mitigated any issues I had with their play.
Everything in Between. There’s nothing truly bad about this story. The first half of the story had a slight repetitive quality, since Brandon was fighting his attraction/love/hopelessly intense chemistry with Veronica. I love the push/pull in a romance, but he did protest a wee bit much (with the same exact wording) for me. Also, Brandon and Veronica are the personification of the first-world lily-white couple. Veronica is looking to break away from that rarefied air she had been partaking in with Chicago’s elite. She wants some color in her life. I appreciated that. But even the crew she ended up in is pretty monochromatic, even if their social standing wasn’t the upper tier as she was used to moving in. I really would have loved a little bit more diversity in this series, and not just supporting characters, but some actual POC as part of this circle of friends.
Quibbles aside, I did love seeing the calm, cool and collected Dom that is Brandon finally take the plunge into love, and Veronica is the perfect woman for him and his dirty self. If you like a bit of D/s with your romance, you may enjoy this series and I’d definitely recommend it.
Taken by Jennifer Dawson,is I hope not the last one,off het Undone series. The Undone series was the first books I have read by Jennifer Dawson. But thank god not the only ones. She is a great author, who is a genius,in setting the scene, between mc`s. Without overdoing it.
She showes there is more to the dynamic between a dom and a sub. than whipes, paddles and "scene`s".to make her point. Not that these things dont get a place in her stories.
In this story it is Brandon who is getting chased,by a very headstrong. Woman Veronica, she has the same background as Brandon. and that for him is the reason to avoid her.He likes his world and life as it is.and don`t want overlapping, between his old world and his new life. But Veronica, does not want,Brandon, for his looks, money or dominance. She want`s him for his brain and nothing more.(much). At long last he hires here, after she chases him down. Working together, reveals that they match, they click. and that can`t do.
Both need to solve theire past problems,to make together a future. At first I did not like Veronica much,She was a bit to happy with herself. Confinced that only she was right for the job.It was not a good feature on her. Brandon and Veronica are good for each other and make a good believable couple. I liked the friends ,the setting and storyline. A real Jennifer Dawson.
ARC was Provided by the Author, exchange for an Review.
First person, Dual-POV, HAE. Can be read as standalone.
Lemme just fan myself real quick because this was a scorcher. After devouring The Burn List by Dawson, I decided to give this series a shot as the books can be read as standalones and this looked most interesting to me. Definitely not disappointed in the least. Dawson knows how to write some hot books without feeling too BDSM-cookie-cutter.
Have I ever burned with passion? Would I recognize it if I did?
Veronica Westwood comes from a life of privilege. Fancy parties, starched dresses and the best education money can buy. But it all means nothing when she has a frightening flash of what her future will look like: long hours in a position secured for her by her father, a husband who she doesn't love, a couple of kids until she's old and grey. Deciding that isn't enough for her, she turns down said job, breaks up with her cheating boyfriend and announces to her family that she's going to do things her way, even if she ends up failing. With literally no support behind her, she realizes that she's going to have to make things happen for herself. Luckily, she's relentless until she gets what she wants. And what she needs in order to point her life in the right direction is a job from the only other person who broke out of the blue-blood world.
Brandon Townsend has quite literally detached himself from the upper-class for ten years to reinvent himself as a successful independent businessman, only attending lavish parties here and there to appease his parents. Otherwise, he wouldn't be caught dead fraternizing with his old society. He'd much rather hang out with his real friends, or be with his submissive playmates. Not a stranger to female attention, he assumes Veronica Westwood is approaching him at a party to discuss sex, but then she propositions him for something altogether different: a job as the general manager of operations for his company. Quick to say no because he can already feel a primal attraction to her for some reason, he fails to realize how tenacious she is. Starting with emails, then phone calls, the woman is relentless. So he agrees to a meeting. What follows is weeks of them denying each other, mostly on his part, sex because frankly, Ms. Westwood has no idea who she's playing with. Once enlightened, though, she doesn't seem to be backing down. In fact, she seems more intrigued which consequently only fuels his hunger for her more.
Brandon was the perfect dominant for me - caring, but also cruel. It only added to the appeal of the story that Veronica was on his same wavelength and enjoyed almost everything he threw at her. This is a sexy read that also has heart. From this, I've definitely grown and attachment to the supporting characters in his friends and will probably dive into their stories, too.
I have been a HUGEEEE fan of Jennifer Dawson's Undone series and have floveed her since Michael and Layla in Crave. The Undone series was actually the first series I read by this author and I've been swept away by her amazing words and couples ever since. To say this book is bittersweet for me is an understatement as I'm sooo sad that this may be the last book in the Undone series. I am hoping it isn't but it was so damn perfect and remarkable that Brandon and Veronica would be the perfect couple to end this with. They were explosive and all kinds of amazing. Their chemistry was COMBUSTIBLE and their banter was so fiery. I absolutely could not be happier as I have waited for Brandon to get his book for the longest times. He and Veronica were absolutely a match made in heaven and I could not get enough of them!
If you have followed the Undone series, you will know that Brandon Townsend III is the coldest and most detached Dominant in the bunch. I have been SO intrigued by him and pretty much have been dying for his book since the first book in the series. He was the one man of the bunch that I NEEDED to learn more about and boy did Ms. Dawson deliver!! Brandon was born and bred in the crème de la crème Chicago social elite scene as a trustfund baby. But ten years earlier he left the public eye to make it on his own. The result: an enigmatic and successful businessman who is intensely private about his personal and professional life. But what happens when like Brandon, Veronica Westwood decides she wants an opportunity to prove to herself that she is more than the gilded cage her upbringing provided and deems a job working under Brandon would be the perfect start? PURE FIREWORKS, folks!!
Gahhh!!! Taken was absolutely amazing. I could not stop reading the minute I started. Their chemistry was insanely hot and their emotional attachment just as crazy. It was just fantastic watching this cold and hardened man shed his protective shield and start caring deeply about someone. I just melted!! And Veronica was just perfection. She was sassy and such a spitfire that her submission was that much sweeter.
God I loved this book. I loved seeing all of the Undone characters and the tight knit family they became. It felt like I was revisiting old friends. It was just spectacular! And the most telling way I knew that this was a 5 star book? I missed the characters the minute I finished this book!! All in all Taken was a fantastic conclusion to the Undone series and as always I look forward to more from this author in the future. Bravo!! 5 stars!! ~Ratula
Brandon Townsend III finally got his own book and HEA and it was nothing but fabulous. Brandon has always been a mystery to me ever since we first met him in Sinful. He’s sexy as hell, sure, but we don’t know much about him outside his kinky ways and business savviness. I’m super grateful to Jen for writing his story and letting us inside his head.
In Taken, we got to see the always-in-control Brandon losing it and being out of sorts because of one woman and it was super fun! If I had to choose a woman for Brandon, Veronica is definitely it (and that’s just because I already promised myself to Michael so I couldn’t volunteer #TeamMichael). She’s very smart, confident, and is not afraid of hard work. I admire her persistence in pursuing Brandon for the job she wanted, and later in pursuing him for herself.
I love the verbal sparring between Brandon and Veronica; Brandon needs a partner who can challenge him, and Veronica is not afraid to do just that. The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot! A+ sexual tension, and I relate so hard with the gang who had front row seats to Brandon and Veronica circling each other (“Should we clear off the table?”). I also love how they complement each other in their relationship. The only thing I wish we got more of is the BDSM bit. I feel like Brandon’s the kinkiest of the group and it didn’t really show in this? But it didn’t affect my enjoying this book, obviously.
Overall, I’m still a bit sad that this series is over. I actually missed the part where it said that Taken was the finale and mistakenly thought there was going to be more books, boo. Anyway, Jennifer Dawson kept serving goodness with Crave, Sinful, Unraveled, Debauched, and now Taken. I’m so happy that I found these books; I love these characters so much.
Taken (Undone) by Jennifer Dawson Taken is a bittersweet finale to an emotionally raw series. Brandon and Veronica were a long time coming but the wait paid off in the end. Ms. Dawson is at her best when her characters are at their worst. Thus the paradox of a wonderful author. The heartaches come full circle and the temptation is at warp speed. The journey is complicated, the emotions are pure and the attraction is off the charts. The last pieces of the puzzle have been cemented into place and it's okay to finally breathe. Well played, Jennifer Dawson!
Ok, give me a moment, I am suffering from massive book hangover as I have waited quite a while for this book. Jennifer Dawson did an absolutely phenomenal job of writing Brandon's story. I stalk, I mean follow Ms. Dawson's work and her Facebook page on a regular basis, and I know that she was nervous about Brandon coming to life. I can assure you, that if you have been needing to know more about this brilliant, mysterious man you won't be a bit disappointed.
Veronica was the perfect counterpart to Brandon and his domineering ways (I mean I would have been a better choice, of course, just kidding). She had just the right amount of spunk to test Brandon and his control.
I promise all of you Brandon fans, this is Ms. Dawson's best work to date. I hope you all enjoy the book as much as I did.
Brandon Townsend the third is hot and grumpy and set in his ways until Veronica comes along and doesn't take no for an answer. Love, love, love how the previous couples all are present in helping this new relationship. Of course, Brandon does something stupid that almost messes everything up. Veronica had an interesting way of snapping him out of it. Loved the epilogue with all the couples.
The Undone Series is one I've enjoyed immensely. Getting to know all these characters as well as seeing how they incorporate a BDSM lifestyle with their everyday life has been fascinating and a pleasure. The series wouldn't have been complete without having Brandon's story.
Brandon is a character whose story I was anxious to get. He's a bit of an enigma but I'd so delighted in seeing him on occasion in the previous installments - always doing his part to ensure the happiness of his friends but never letting anyone get too close to him. Needless to say I was eager to see him fall and find his own bit of happiness.
Brandon is from a wealthy Chicago family - a trust fund baby who left that life to find his own way. He shuns that life and the people who inhabit it, having made friends who know the real him. But in deference to his parents, he attends one social engagement a quarter, which is where he is cornered by Veronica.
Veronica is also from an old-money Chicago family. She knew of Brandon so when she decides to blow up her life by walking away from the expectations of her family, she knows he'll be the one to understand her. In her determination to earn a job under him, she finds Brandon understands her on an even deeper level than she imagined.
Veronica was the perfect yang to Brandon's yin. They challenged each other, snarked at one another, and Veronica couldn't have asked for a better guide as she began her exploration of the domination she desired and Brandon was eager to deliver. Their chemistry was visceral. However, I'd have liked a bit more on-page time where they built on that chemistry. It happened - it just wasn't all on-page and I felt that because of the trust needed in this sort of relationship, the building of that foundation of trust is something I'd have liked to witness. It's an element I appreciated in the previous installments so I felt its absence in this one.
Overall though, I was pleased. Seeing Brandon meet his match as well as watching Veronica learn more about herself and make friends who were real and that she could be real around was heartwarming. Getting to spend time with Michael and Layla, Leo and Jillian, and Chad and Ruby was also a pleasure. Mostly though, I appreciated that Brandon, and Veronica too, found the happiness they deserved.
**I received a complimentary copy of the book. This did not affect my rating and my review is voluntarily provided.**
I thought this would last me the weekend. It's 2:18am on Sunday morning, I could NOT put this down. Sooo good! Review to follow when I have the brain capacity for proper sentences.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Taken is the fourth book in the Undone series by Jennifer Dawson. You can find my reviews for the previous novels here:
I think...though I could be wrong, that this is also the last book of the series :o *sobs*
Brandon has always intrigued me, he's the most detached of all of our dominant men, but perhaps the most interesting. I was excited to see that we were going to get his story, and jumped at the chance to read an ARC copy when it was offered.
Taken is dual POV, both Brandon and Veronica give us insight into the story. Brandon was born into a rich family; but opted to shun his status as the #1 trust fund kid and hit out on his own. He still appears at events every so often to appease his parents, and it's at one of these events that he runs into Veronica. Or rather, she tracks him down.
Veronica, like Brandon, wants out of her privileged life. She's determined to venture out into the world on her own, but to do that she needs a job. And that's where Brandon comes in. Veronica is relentless in challenging him to hire her for a management position he's had open for almost a year. And while he puts up a fight, Brandon loses and against his better instincts caves and gives Veronica what she wants. But it turns out they want so much more from each other. Try as Brandon might, they just can't resist and it's explosive (in more ways than one!)
It was great seeing all the characters from previous novels again, and to have a little more continuation to their stories and where they've all ended up.
I think Taken was a wee bit more kinky than the other instalments, but I didn't find it as hot? Which probably makes no sense; I think the last one, Debauched, was a bit steamier. But it might just be how my brain works.
While Brandon and Veronica aren't my favourite couple of the series, they were sure fun to read about! There's a bit of drama toward the end that sort of threw me off the pace a bit. I could understand Brandon's reaction, but it also perplexed me. I wanted to reach into the pages and give him a shake; he drove me (and Veronica) crazy for a short amount of time.
Dawson's writing is addictive as usual, and I was up until just before 2:30am to finish this novel. I could not put it down! And then I woke up thinking about it, and then I just kept thinking about it.
At some point in the near future, I'm going to give this entire series a re-read. It's worth it!
If you like your romance on the kinky side, I cannot recommend this series enough!
4 stars. This is a good book! This is Veronica and Brandon's series. Veronica has blown up her life. Raised a society girl to rich parents, she decides she hates the path her life is on. So she has turned down the job her parents wanted for her, broke up with the boyfriend that they want her to marry and moves out of her fancy apartment. She decides to start doing what she wants to make herself happy. Brandon is a man who ran in the same rich, society circles, but also decided to leave that lifestyle a few years back. Veronica is intrigued that he was able to reinvent himself and become a businessman in his own right. So she decides to approach Brandon to hire her. He is surprised by Veronica's tenacity, but he feels an attraction and connection to her right away. He doesn't want to hire her because he has strict rules against fraternization and he knows he really wants to sleep with her. So he turns her down, but Veronica is determined to get the job and won't take no for an answer. As she pursues the job relentlessly, Brandon decides to give in to hiring her... and seeing where the fireworks between them could lead.
I liked both Veronica and Brandon. She was patient and determined to get the job, and the man, she wanted. Brandon was dominant in the bedroom, but totally unsure of himself when it came to relationships and falling in love. It was funny and sweet to see him try to resist the pull to Veronica and finally give in. They ended up being a sweet and sexy couple. I would have liked to see more of them together and happy for me to feel a strong connection to them. I really liked catching up with the other couples in the series and seeing Veronica find true friendship with them. I must say there was a scene that iffy to me with some violence in it. I feel like I should mention it as it could be a trigger It didn't bother me lot, but did raise my eyebrows a bit. Still, I did enjoy the couple and the overall story line. This book wasn't my favorite in the series, which is still Leo and Jillian's book, Sinful, but I did really enjoy it. Leo and Jillian just had a really playful relationship that Veronica and Brandon didn't have.
Overall, this was a good, sexy romance and I very much enjoyed it. This series will remain one of my favorite BDSM series, because the relationships feel very realistic, nit steeped in protocol or club oriented. I hope that Ms. Dawson continues this series in the future!
I’ve loved every book in the Undone series. I don’t read many books with Dominant/submissive relationships, but this series is so emotional and beautifully written that the love stories transcend any one trope or genre. Plus, I know anything written by Jennifer Dawson is going to be a fantastic read for me. Taken is my favorite in the series, both because we’ve been waiting for Brandon’s story for a long time and because we get to spend quite a bit of time with the three couples from the previous books in the series. Brandon has finally met his match in Veronica, whose family travels in the same privileged circles as his own. He has vowed never to touch anyone from that social class, as well as having a strict moral code that does not allow him to become personally involved with anyone who works for him. But Veronica threatens his carefully constructed controlled persona, and soon he is breaking all his rules for her. Veronica is one her own path to self discovery, wanting to leave her life of privilege behind and find her own way. She is convinced that Brandon is a kindred spirit, having shunned their social circle, and can teach her how to make her way in this new life starting with hiring her to run his businesses. She is relentless in her pursuit of the position, and eventually their explosive chemistry and close proximity blurs the line between personal and professional. It’s very satisfying to watch the controlled, smug Brandon follow his Dominant friends down his path to his forever love. I’m so sad to say goodbye to this group of friends, but I loved the epilogue where we get a glimpse of everyone’s future happiness. I’m looking forward to seeing what Ms. Dawson has in store for us next.
Ok, if you didn't know already, this series is heavy on the BDSM. Not your "Fifty Shades of Grey" tertiary dominant/submissive BDSM either. The dynamics in this relationship between two obviously consenting adults are reflective of that. SO. That being said, I feel like Dawson does a great job of exploring this world in a realistic and responsible way. I wouldn't have been able to read all four books in this series if I felt like the relationships were abusive or unhealthy.
I really loved Brandon as a secondary character in the first three books, so I was really excited to see him get his own book. He didn't disappoint at all and I loved the relationship that developed between him and Veronica. I also really enjoyed the interactions with the other characters and I felt like Dawson did a great job with continuing the "world building" in this one. I have to say that my only complaint was that I didn't love Veronica on her own. The trope of the poor little rich girl kind of gets under my skin and I felt like she never really had to deal with the real world.
*Thank you to the author for a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.*

After waiting forever for Brandon's story, its finally here. Ms. Dawson did not disappoint in the slightest. Taken is an emotional story of self discovery, and love, rolled up in one kinky package. Taken can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, or as part of the larger Undone series.
Long time fans of the Undone series, certainly recognize Brandon, and the type of woman it would take to hold his attention. Taken gets into the nitty gritty of his past, and why is the way he is. His heroine matches him everywhere. In business, wit, and the bedroom.
I was immiedately sucked into Taken. Its a well written story, paced just slowly enough to keep you anxiously awaiting what will happen in each scene. It has a hardened hero, and spirited heroine. I would recommend to the reader looking for a personal journey as well as a romantic one.
FINALLY a book i got through. haven’t read in forever ols and haven’t stayed up till 6 reading in so long also😘 it started off rlly good like the plot badically thehre both rich kids and she breaks off from her parents to do her own thing and his company is rlly good and she wants to work there but he won’t cs he wnats her so he tries not hiring her but she’s so determined she aman he’s to get a job. i liked all of that and beginning when she started working where they towed the line of liking each other but THEN it ALL went downhill. um got way too bdsm and he’s the dom and whatever controlling her but it’s SO WEIRD i wanted to read the whole freindgroups books but THEYRE all bdsm and they like talk abt it w each other and like idk what type of group everyone a bdsm. but yeah idk guy fights it a little too hard and is always pushing her away which idk how i feel abt it but yeah.
The story of rich society couple Brandon and Veronica. I liked the idea of this. Veronica blows up her life and walks away to find herself. She decides that being the bar manager for recluse Brandon is somehow what she needs which felt a bit unbelievable, but ok.
She hounds Brandon until he hires her. Brandon vehemently declares there will be ‘no fraternising with the staff’ a few times, only to weaken 30 seconds later each time.
There’s a bit of breath play and some spanking followed by some ex drama and a big HEA. Cool. It was a good read. I only dropped stars because the initial attraction was very quick. A bit instalovey and because, although hot, the BDSM denial/suffering stuff is not quite my thing. But I am enjoying this series. It explains all the BDSM stuff well.
Brandon! I loved finally getting a glimpse into his world! He's been a great friend throughout the whole Undone series. Brandon had an important role in the start of this series. It's only appropriate that it ends with his story.
I liked Veronica from the start. She was a take control kind of girl that wouldn't allow her family to roll over her and dictate how she was going to live her life. She saw what she wanted, went after it and made sure she got it. Turns out it wasn't quite what she expected. It was better!
I loved getting to witness Brandon falling in love. I've liked him since I read Crave. The attraction between him and Veronica was sizzling! Now that the series is done, I find it difficult to pick a favorite couple. But I think Brandon and Veronica would be near the top.
Brandon- The standoffish bar owner finally gets his own story. He has met his match in Veronica. All the things he left behind from his past are there in Veronica... but she is trying to escape similar circumstances. Will he let her in as his newest employee? Will she show him she has what it takes to run his bars & rule his heart? Jump in and discover this one for our Brandon. Loved it!
Oh my! I just couldn't put this book down. What a great ending to the series. As with the other books, the balance of sex, intrigue, character complexity is well done. The story is compelling and the passionate scenes are just icing on the cake. This series is worthy as a permanent address to my 'repeat reads'.
I was greatly disappointed with this book, I have loved this series especially Crave the first one but this was lacking in my mind and I love the subject matter so not sure why I feel half hearted about it. But looking forward to the new one coming out in January 2019.
Great book didn't think brando. Would ever accept veronica
Didn't think Brandon and aerobics would ever work things out but with the help of his friends and advice he came to accept what they were telling him would highly recommend the whole series I enjoyed each couple and the way they inter acted
I love this author's books, and this was no exception. It was a lovely story! The hero and heroine were great, interesting characters and they had potent chemistry. They were smart, mature individuals that made relatively sane decisions, but they both still managed to show a lot of personal growth in the span of the book. Didn't drag, didn't rush. And wow, their sex scenes were explosive!
It was fun to see Brandon the cool, calm and collected Dom out of his element. It did get a little tiresome in the beginning with Brandon fighting his attraction for Veronica. This one definitely had more of a kink factor. You really get to see the bromance between the guys in this one.
dnf. i found i jsut didnt really care about the charcaters liek i did for the other books, and i just wasnt interested in the progression of the story, i might come back one day in the future, but its not for me at the moment.
