For at least a day, Cosine has had his eye on Pie, his only companion aboard a lonely liferaft. Will he eat Pie, or will he learn something about life, about himself, and about the life of Pie? Find out in no time at all!
This was the first book I had read for myself in a very long time. I realized so many people have already read this book in high school (I definitely didn't) which made the impact that it had on me feel a bit less valuable but f that lol. I REALLY liked this book! I am super into religion not in a sense that I am super religious, but more in a way that I love to learn about it and peoples experiences with it. so this book was sooooo up my alley. If you love religion and religious allegory then this book is for you. Literally wanna get a tiger tattoo because of this book lol. I would love to chat deeper with someone of all of the hidden meanings behind some of the occurrences in this book. so many parts, even the small ones, felt very intentional and meaningful in a broader way than what was on the page. This book took me foreeeeevvvvveeeerrr to finish not because it was bad but because often I get wayy too busy to read (work eat bed repeat)
I read this when I was a wee, young, free-spirited girl who had an imagination that could create a world, just for fun. With all the details too.. and developed characters.
I become the character I read. I used to when I was younger, so I became Pie. I experienced his joys, fears, and triumphs in the face of probable death. I was a wreck reading the book at times. I was sad asa well at times. However, I was always left amazed at the journey and the experience of visually imagining the words into real images in my head and being transported to the places Yorick wrote of. Overall, I remember the tiger, and I miss it. I miss his family, and I wonder about that floating island, and it gives me a strange feeling. I just can't forget that random floating island.
I never even thought about how a book that could blend philosophy with storytelling in such a unique way. Pi’s deep curiosity about religion and his connection to animals make him an engaging character. The writing is rich and descriptive, which adds depth but feel slow sometimes but that could just be myself not being into books as other readers. However, this buildup makes the story feel meaningful, setting the stage for the survival journey ahead. I believe It’s a book that challenges readers to think about faith perspective and the nature of storytelling itself.
One of my favourite books/movies but more as a story and movie the books story is of great importance and value although the book in translation of the story got a bit boring in the explanation but definitely worth it for the philosophical sense, as a story and for its meaning is a 10/10.
I enjoyed the book for the most part. Don't get me wrong, it was fine, and I liked the last half, but it took a while to pick up, and it felt kind of difficult to get though in the first half
