Finding Gumption

Rate this book
Gumption is a combination of initiative, boldness, common sense, and determination. When we live with gumption, we don't wait for other people to take the initiative or tell us what to do. We think for ourselves. We speak for ourselves. And we take the initiative to make the very most of our lives. We don't let others set the tone for our relationships. We don't fail to “show up” in our family and work relationships. We don't let others decide what we do, who we spend time with, what we do for work, or how we spend our time. We speak up when we need to speak up and we stand up for what matters when we need to stand up. When we don't live with gumption we're not the friend that we could be, the husband or wife that we could be, or the parent we could be. We're not the person we were created to be. We don't show up for the life that we could be living.

This is a short book, short enough to be read in one sitting. It talks about two mindsets that help us to live with gumption. These mindsets don't require any particular expertise. They are just choices, choices to think in one way rather than another.
