Bellamy Sullivan’s life is hardly regal. She’s a waitress from Ohio who’s been on her own since she was sixteen, working several jobs while her dreams of being a fashion designer stay just that. But everything changes when PR maven and soon-to-be-royal Lemon Beauchamp drops in to announce that Bellamy is a princess. Unfortunately, Bellamy’s newly assigned bodyguard is the last man she wants to see.

A year ago, the royal family of Monterra tasked Enzo Rannalli with confirming Bellamy’s heritage, which meant he had to get very close to her. Enzo got the confirmation he needed, but he didn’t expect their connection to be so meaningful. And he didn’t expect his sudden departure to break the young princess’s heart.

In exchange for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to kick-start her fashion career, Bellamy agrees to star on a royal reality show that will match her with the world’s most eligible bachelors. But after a series of disastrous dates make her even more grateful for Enzo’s company, she wonders if her fairy-tale ending is waiting to happen off camera.

Adorable!

I am such a big fan of the Royals of Monterra, it's one of my very favorite contemporary romance series. I was really excited when I found out Ms. Wilson had written a novella to go along with her series (I still need to read some of the other novellas in the Kindle Monterra World). Anyway, this was a fun addition and fits right in, but also stands very well on its own. You don't have to read the other books to enjoy this one.

Bellamy is such a sweet likable character. Very down to earth and easy to relate to. She's a bit shocked to find out she is also a Princess! Her life changes dramatically when she learns the truth about her father and that all her dreams will come true...if she agrees to star in a reality dating TV show about her quick rise to royalty. She's also not to happy to find out her handsome new bodyguard is Enzo, the guy who disappeared on her a year ago leaving her a bit broken hearted.

Bellamy and Enzo have great chemistry, not only do they have some swoony moments, but they have such a cute friendship. I really enjoyed their banter and sweetness. This was a fun novella and great escape. Have I mentioned how much I love this series yet??

Content: Clean romance, kissing. No language or violence.

I was really intrigued by the title of this book, having always been a “Princess Diaries” fan, and was pleased to discover Sariah Wilson as an author whose works I’ll want to follow in the future. This is a great, light beach-type read that’s perfect for teens and anyone looking for something fun to sit down and relax with. It never gets too heavy or tries to feel too serious, but rather seeks to entertain and tell a lighthearted tale of a second chance at falling in love.

Bellamy is a struggling waitress in Ohio who can’t seem to save up enough to pursue her dreams as a fashion designer in New York. So of course she’s surprised when Lemon (a character from another of Wilson’s books I’m going to have to check out) arrives in her diner and announces she’s a princess. And sure, that trope has been done before, but it doesn’t take away from the story. Enzo is assigned as her bodyguard, with a delicious love/hate relationship constantly simmering between them, but where the story really shines is once Bellamy begins going on her series of set-up dates. Wilson has a flair for comedic writing and I was laughing at many of those male candidates… or not so viable candidates. A great light read.

I love this series! And this author. I was so happy to get another book (even if it is a shorter one) to keep my love of this series going. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts and man, they don't even kiss for most of the book! I love the sparky fireworks that progressed right along with their friendship. It was really good. (That Enzo is so swoony!)

I wish my kindle fire was able to do the kindle in motion thing though. I have no idea what that is about and I thought my kindle would be able to do it but alas, it could not. Sad. All that hype for nothing.

On my second reading of this I have enjoyed it much more, after reading the rest of the series, and it was an interesting reading experience with kindle in motion.

I would like to thank netgalley and Montlake Romance for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The romance was sweet, but the circumstances ridicules and the ending far to convenient.

4.5--A fun return to Monterra!

While not a direct sequel to the Royals of Monterra, this was a fun expansion off the series. Ms. Wilson writes such great main characters. Bellamy was sweet...Enzo was swoony. :) There were some great, romantic, toe-curling moments. The only thing I wish is that it was longer...I would have loved more moments with just them in the middle of the book. But that's the problem with a good novella...you just want more!! :)

So basically, read this one! And if you haven't yet, read the other three in the actual series first...it was great to see some of the characters I've come to know and love. Now it's just time for the next Monterran royal sibling to get their HEA. I will try to wait patiently... ;)

It has taken me awhile to review this because I haven't been sure how I felt about the new technology. This was a Kindle in Motion book. That means that it included graphics, like video snippets. For someone like me, with no vivid imagination, it was helpful to picture the characters. The acting was well done, but the clips were distracting. I know there is supposed to be a way to turn them off. What I would have loved is if each clip ran once, and you could tap to replay them. As it was, they ran on a loop, and the constant motion would draw my eyes away from the text. Seeing Enzo remove his shirt over and over again cheapened that experience a bit. I did love their kiss, and the way the clips caught how drawn they were to each other, even when Enzo was pulling away.

On to the story itself. Bellamy is just a waitress at a diner until Lemon Beauchamp tells her that she is the granddaughter of the king's brother, and a princess. She wants her to star on a reality show, and in exchange she will help start a career in fashion design. Bellamy agrees happily, until she sees her new bodyguard, Enzo. He has already broken her heart once, and she doesn't want him to have the opportunity to do it again!

What follows is a comedy of errors with awful first dates and a hero and heroine who are fighting a losing battle trying to stay away from one another. I loved the chemistry between Bellamy and Enzo. It was also fun to see my favorite Monterranean royals. Bellamy fits right in with Kat and Lemon as a woman with spunk, who can hold her own. While part of a series, Royal Design can be read independently.

Content: some kissing, a shirtless male, and one character who makes a poor date because he isn't interested in women.

Talking about it has made me want to go back and read it all over again!

This was my first book by Sariah Wilson and I found it a really enjoyable light read. It's also my first read in the Royals of Monterra series, but I wasn't lost or confused so this one seems to be a stand alone.
What would you do if you suddenly found out you're a princess and your life goes from being a waitress in a 50's themed restaurant to being followed around by cameras and dating famous actors, athletes and wealthy business men for a reality TV show?
This is what Bellamy Sullivan is dealing with thanks to Lemon Beauchamp. That and her new bodyguard is the hunky Enzo Rannalli, she met about a year ago when he walked into the diner (and her heart), and then disappeared.
I loved the conversations Bellamy has in her head. "Hotness-on-a-Stick" is one of my favorites. If you're looking for a quick, light read that's pure fantasy this fits the bill. I'll definitely read more books in the Royals of Monterra series.

ARC Review: Royal Design (The Royals of Monterra) by Sariah Wilson

Bellamy is a realist. From an early age, her world has been full of disappointments and heartbreaking losses. Her resilience has allowed her to roll with the punches and turn those negatives into positives through hard work and positive thinking she has turned her tragedies into her motivations. With three words, her life will never be the same. "You're a Princess", is the last thing she expects to hear about herself. Her life has hardly consisted of rainbows and happily ever afters. What will she do? Royal Design combines the best aspects of romance. Secret reveals, classic inspiration and the standard happily ever after. It just takes drama and heartache to get there. Whenever I read Sariah Wilson and her Royals of Monterra series, I can't help but smile. Classic and modern become one and deliver feel good romances. Dreams never get old.

Waitress Bellamy Sullivan receives the shocking revelation that she is a real life Princess and more importantly (at least to Bellamy) this could give her the chance to live her dream of working with the designer of her choice. But only if she is willing to sign on the dotted line & agree to move to New York to star in her own reality TV dating show.

Before the ink has dried Bellamy's world is rocked off its axis yet again, when she discovers she has just committed herself to another non-negotiable clause. Bellamy must have a bodyguard. Only the man tasked with guarding her body, Enzo Rannalli, has already broken her heart.

I enjoyed reading this & I am very happy to visit the world of the Royals of Monterra again. It is a lovely story & I would love to read more about Bellamy's family and find out what she designs for Kat's Coronation. I think Sariah Wilson is a brilliant writer and I love the richness of her characters and the world her stories are set in. If you love Royal romances, fairy tales or the Royals of Monterra's World I recommend you read this.

Unfortunately I didn't connect with the characters and invest emotionally quite as much as I have before and I think this is because this feels like it is a novel squeezed into a novella. There wasn't as much detail and development as there is in Royal Date, Royal Chase and Royal Games. I may feel differently when I download the published version with all of the Kindle Motion features but I doubt GIFs and videos will make up for less of Sariah's words.

If you haven't already read a book by Sariah Wilson read this but please also read at least one of Sariah's novels as well to get a true reflection of the magic she weaves.. You will be missing out if you don't!

Such a cute novella!

I really enjoyed this story, especially after having already read the other books Sariah Wilson in this series. The characters were so likeable, had great chemistry, and fun dialogue. Definitely some toe-curling romance, but clean as well. This was my first time reading an animated book, where there are actual videos every few pages with people acting out parts you're reading. As great of an idea as it is, I really disliked it. I found it distracted me from the story and I couldn't enjoy it as much. Still such a great novella though!

Good novella that I enjoyed more than I thought I would because novellas are sometimes lacking for me. This one had good characters and the country the royals lived in was already familiar and the side characters were already known to me from the other 3 books I’ve read in the series. The falling in love part was quick as happens in a novella but they did have a previous meeting so they already were in “like” with each other. We get to see that part too and it probably was my favorite part of the story.

Recommended to people that like Royal romances. Just a suggestion, but before reading this one you should at least read book 1 for background. Not necessary but just a recommendation. Clean romance with lots of lust. If that makes sense.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I've had my shares of ups and downs with this series, but on the whole I've enjoyed them. So when I found out that there was going to be a fourth book added to the series when the publisher had opted for no further books, I was overjoyed! Sadly, this book was such a major letdown!

The plot was very contrived. While I realize that plots are supposed to be vehicles for getting a couple together, as a reader I expect to not be aware of it happening! This whole story, I couldn't lose myself in my imagination of the plot, as I was too aware that it was all a contrived mash up of the fairy tales and wealthy/poor person relationship, and a very poorly executed one at that.

The characters were hard to connect to, as we don't really get to see a relationship form between them. Even Lemon's character, whom we'd seen before, was a shallow, two dimensional version of herself! We also don't get a lot of real closure at the end of the book, it just feels like we're told what happens and the book ends.

For me, this was not a good installment of the series, and I sincerely hope that there are more to come to redeem the series from ending on this note.

I am a huge fan of Sariah Wilson's Royals of Monterra series, so imagine my excitement to see another entry so soon. I knew it was a novella, so wasn't put off by the shorter length. What I was let down by was the underdeveloped and repetitive plot. As in, step away from the reality television crutch! And really, how many royals are there in this family? Feels like they're digging deep in their skeleton's closet to keep ratings going. Monterra must have nothing better to do than watch it's extended, extended, overextended royal family on scripted/unscripted reality tv. Book 1 in the series had nothing to do with television shows, and I sincerely hope the next book (oh, please, please be about the spunky young princesses) drops this tired plot device.

All the characters were barely surface written and lacked depth or connection. I feel like I could've really enjoyed Bellamy if she'd just gotten a little more support. Next time, skip the trite technology integration and spend that time fully developing the characters, narrative and world. These are my go-to happy books and I want to keep being excited to pick them up!

Another fun entry to the Monterra world, even if it was only a novella. It felt rather rushed and a bit rehashed when compared to the other full length books, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. Bellamy is a great addition to the princess line.

However, be sure to turn off the enhanced content. It was completely pointless, made the more ridiculous by the overly modelesque male "actors." Combine that with the worst ham acting since the silent movie era, and it cheapens the book to the level of a tawdry tella novella. But I'm rating by the writing, not the silly digital extras.

Still waiting for the full blood Monterra princesses to age up and get their own turn in the limelight. Hopefully they'll be the next full length story...

I wanted more from this one. It's a cute story and I enjoyed it but it was just too light and fluffy and all wrapped up way too quickly.
As for Kindle in Motion part of it... Not sure I'm a fan, seemed super cheesy.

Content: Clean - just passionate kissing

Take your average American young woman with dreams and plans… and far too little money to make them a reality. Add a little family history, unknown, into the mix. Sneak in a man who broke her heart once upon a time. And stir in a modern day fairy godmother with an astounding announcement. Mix well with humor, romance and a reality show… and the result is a fun, charming, modern day fairy tale complete with princess.

I had fun with Royal Design. Bellamy is a sweet, funny young lady who has had her world turned upside down. Enzo is sexy, and compelling. A man who has his own reasons for the way things happen in life. Watching their romance unfold was such an enjoyable experience.

Royal Design falls into The Royals of Monterra series quite well. While you don’t have to have read the earlier stories to enjoy this one, I’d suggest going back and discovering this enchanting series from the start if you’re picking it up here.

If you’re looking for a fun, light-hearted romance, then this one fits that bill perfectly.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

"You are not alone in this. I will be with you."

What's better than a Happily Ever After? A Happily EVER After between two people who think they'll ever get one and/or deserve one.

Sariah went above and beyond with this novella and the Royals we all know and love.

Please keep writing more!!! I need MORE Royals and simply MORE Sariah Wilson books for my kindle!

You're amazing!

funny little read

I loved all the other Royals of Montserrat books and this did not disappoint. Lots of laughter here! And visiting an old friend from previous books was great, too.
But, a star was lost for a direct quote of a 5 word description from another author's book. So, So, sad about That!

Pleasant quick read

This is a good and quick read. It brings back some favorite characters and introduces new. It has the humor, romance, and imagery I've appreciated in the other books. The book has a steamy but clean romantic feel, and there is plenty of humor to be found in the parade of dates. I enjoy the concept of gifs interspersed, but eventually turned it off because it was a bit distracting.
