First of all, that cover?? It's so fascinating! I love it. Second, It's first but not last that I read J. Lea's work.
April works as a journalist at a television station. She broke up with her drunk boyfriend recently. After some time, she receives weird phone calls, e-mails and notes. So she files a complaint. Her brother contacts with a detective agency and Jude O'Rilley promises to protect her. Jude who had a one-night stand with her!
The only thing that bothering me in this book is Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it and I would like to read Jude's siblings stories!

Lea impressed me this time too. <3 As I already said, Lea is getting better and Deadly Obsession is definitely a book that I would recommend to all lovers of contemporary romances. Crime story makes it even more convincing and attractive sparkles flying between the detective Jude and his protégé April, are the icing on the cake. It's a tension that does not let you breathe until you get to the last page. It's really great treat! :)

This is the first book I have read from this author and it will not be my last.

It took me 4 hours to read this book. I couldn't put it down it had this overwhelming feeling over me that I needed to read it all I was so sucked it to the story it was like I was in the book. I love books that do this. I had to know what was going to happen if it was a ugly cry or a happy ending I just needed to know there and then. The way J.Lea has written this is so great that you can't stop at the end of a chapter (even for a drink) you just have to keep on reading.

This story has everything you can think and more from the sexy detectives to the strong independent women the overprotective sibling to the crazy ex boyfriend. Danger and twisted you don't think would happen. You will have so much of an emotional journey reading this book but it's so worth it. I can't wait to read more from this author.

“The last few nights I sat beside her bed, watching her sleep. Only then could I allow my emotions to run free.”

Such an intense read! It was amazing. I absolutely loved the characters. I even chuckled quite a few times because April was giving Jude a hard time and it was so sweet.

Lea is a suspence romance killer! She rocked this.

I received a copy of Deadly Obsession by J Lea to review for Hooked On Books and CherryOBlossoms production.

As soon as I read the blurb on this book I was excited to start it and well I must say I was not disappointed. It had a hold of me from the beginning and I was not putting it down till it was finished. It is a fast paced book with characters that you will love.

We start off with April who is an independent driven young lady who is fed up with men in her life lacking in commitment. After just getting rid of the last boyfriend she's not looking for anyone and she's not interested in one night stands although the one she did have years back was one of the best nights of her life. she is focused on building her career. That is until the phone calls, notes, threats start and her brother steps in and hires an old friend to protect her.

Jude is focused on his job it's his main priority. Relationships don't even get a look in. That is until he accepts the job to protect April. He has one rule not to mix business with pleasure but can he resist the girl that gave him the best night of his life years ago? He will do anything and everything in his power to protect April from her stalker but will that be enough?

Deadly Obsession is a fantastic read. Sassy ladies, alpha men, and a storyline that will make you read till the end. It's not predictable there are twist and turns that you won't expect and it will keep you glued to each page. This is the second book of J Leas I have read and I have loved them both I will be definitely looking out for more of her books and highly recommend anyone to give it a go. A well deserved 5* read.

***** 5 Cranky Stars *****

After reading the synopsis I wasn't expecting this book to surprise me much. I figured stalker meets the end after torturing victim but I couldn't have been more wrong. This book surprised me, kept me on the edge of my seat and at times biting my nails.

Jude is a Private detective and works for the family business. He's the ultimate ladies man and his heart is untouchable, or so he thinks. Just the description of him had me melting. Hot and sexy with a panty melting smile.

April is a strong independent woman. She's fiercely loyal and has a heart of gold. Family and her budding career are her top priorities until fighting for her life consumes her every thought.

This is the first book that I've read by J. Lea but it definitely won't be the last. I was intrigued all the way through. The only thing that bothered me was that it ended. This Cranky reviewer highly recommends this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful sexy great read.

Long before I started to read romantic stories, thrillers, mysteries and suspense were my ‘crack’. I loved the stories, to discover with the characters what was going on in their world. When I started to read romance, soon I found the romantic-suspense subgenre. I love the romantic part of those stories, but somehow the suspense part is mostly a bit… to over-the-top? I need to stop rambling. Deadly Obsession by J. Lea. It’s my first book by this author, and it has pleasantly surprised me. I love April and Jude, and their whole story, suspense part included.
“I suddenly can’t breathe. I need air. Turning around and running outside the house, I fall to my knees on my porch. I try to fill my lungs with air. Breathe, breathe, breathe. Just breathe.”

April is a hardworking woman, who has landed her dream job as host of a tv show. She loves her job and has a great team of colleagues, but her love life is not so perfect. She has broken up with her good-for-nothing boyfriend, and since then things seem off. Her brother Max doesn’t want to wait till anything happens with his sister, so he hires a private detective to keep a close eye on her. To April’s shock Jude is no stranger to her…

Jude doesn’t do relationships. After having witnessed the problems his parents went through because of his father’s work, he has decided no woman for him. Casual hookups on the other hand give him just what he needs. When an acquaintance from college hires him to protect his younger sister, Jude isn’t happy about it, but when he finds out who he will be protecting…
“Him? Eyes, green like emeralds. Brown, silky soft hair I could run my hands through for an eternity. A sculptured body with rippling muscle. I swallow hard. No, no no. It can’t be him. But it is.”

After a passionate night with no names and contact details April and Jude went on to live their lives. Now, two years later, they are back together but under much different circumstances. April is afraid (and not without reason) for her ex-boyfriend and Jude is the one protecting her from harm. Spending so much time together makes the couple realize there’s far more between them than just a sexual chemistry. But when April’s situation takes a turn for the worse, everything between Jude and April changes.

April and Jude are a great couple with some history, but it’s not one with broken hearts and hurt feelings. While the suspense part in some romantic books make my eyes roll (sorry…), I like how all plays out in this story. It was a little twist I didn’t see coming, but it’s realistic and not too far-fetched. I love April and how she tries to deal with the whole situation. She naturally wants to be safe, but she also doesn’t want to give up her life. Jude… I think you’re a great guy… But don’t listen to that little guy in your head. What you did to April was not okay, I would have let you grovel a bit longer…
“You’re mine, forever.” “You’re right. I’m yours. Now shut up and show me how much you’ve missed me.” “Yes, ma’am.”

I love Deadly Obsession, I give the story of Jude and April 4.5 stars.

April a journalist at a television station needs a Detective because she has a stalker. Her brother contacts Jude O'Rilley a guy he knows to take the case. Little did he know April had a one night stand with the Detective O'Rilley. Will Jude be able to find the stalker and protect April or will the stalker win? Deadly Obsession is full of mystery, suspense, action and danger. There were many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won't be my last. This is a well written book with strong believable characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This story sucked me in right from the beginning. April finds herself the target of an ex-boyfriend's stalking ways and his obsession goes beyond benign. In worry, April's brother Max hires Jude, a private investigator, to keep his sister safe. What Max doesn't know is April and Jude have met before.

The story is fast and keeps you on your toes. When you think April is safe and having a good day, something happens to send her back on edge. Thankfully, she has Jude there protecting her. While Jude is protecting her, they become closer and their time together begins to fill with angst and lust. But her stalker starts to hurt the people around her. At what lengths with this mad man go to get to her? April doesn't want the people close to her to get hurt, so she goes into action to try to help find her stalker. Will she succeed? Who else will get hurt?

This was my first read by J. Lea and I was very happy with the writing, story, pace of the story. I'm definitely interested in checking out other stories and would recommend this read.

A Woman with a future ahead of her, a career she loves, but as always there is a snag. She has a stalker, someone who will not leave her alone, who wants her and is determined to have her.
A man, infatuated by her beauty, determined to get her - at any cost.
Enter a detective to the rescue, he is willing to risk his own life to save her. Will he save her, will Detective O`Rilley save her, will they get close, will April Brooks return his feelings, you will have to read it to find out. A good story and well writen

“He awakens feelings in me I thought were long gone, dangerous feelings. They could destroy me. I don’t know if I’m ready for that.”

April is a TV journalist who has recently split from her loser boyfriend, Leo. When his attempts to win her back escalate to another level, her brother hires a private investigator to protect her. However, when April meets the PI, she recognises him as the one-night stand she had a couple of years earlier – and hasn’t been able to forget since.

“It was the girl who’d managed to crawl under my skin in less than a night.”

Jude is shocked to find that his new client is the girl who was the best sex of his life. He avoids serious commitments due to his line of work, preferring one night stands and meaningless encounters. April is hostile to the idea of having her freedom curbed but her brother is insistent. When the elusive Leo’s attempts to win her back take a more sinister turn, April and Jude go into hiding.

“The last few nights I sat beside her bed, watching her sleep. Only then could I allow my emotions to run free.”

Living in close quarters challenges both their resolve to not give in to the undeniable chemistry and hot memories between them. Jude’s ethics and April’s stubbornness are tested to the limit. As their feelings grow, the danger draws ever closer.

This was a great, sexy, suspense story. The author builds it up and keeps us guessing until the denouement. In the meantime, she also develops the relationship between Jude and April, and also gives us an insight into their original encounter. April is successful and independent, and is so angry and resentful about having her movements restricted by a bodyguard, especially as it’s someone who she shared the hottest night of her life with. She’s actually pretty annoying in her stubbornness in refusing to be careful and thoughtful of the consequences of her actions, until she realises the severity of her situation. Jude is incredibly attracted to April but fights to keep things professional. She frustrates him with her defiance of his instructions, and the fact that she’s burrowed firmly under his skin. He counters her effect on him with his cocky and suggestive flirtation.

This story was a pretty thrilling ride with a couple of heart-stopping moments, and finishes on a lovely note.

April Brookes has finally made it to the big time when she and Todd Peters get to host their own TV show. But for April there is also a flip side that isn't so great when she begins to get flowers and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend.

But when things escalate, April's brother, Max hires a Private Investigator, Jude O'Reilly, to keep April safe from harm. Unfortunately the two have a small past together but April knows she must trust Jude if she wants to survive.

Unfortunately April is a stubborn one and hell bent on doing things her way. Will April be able to trust Jude to keep her safe and can Jude keep his mind on protecting April while trying not to cross the line.

This was such a great romance/mystery book that kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. I had a feeling about certain things and I was definitely right with some parts and then totally off with others!

I thought April was awesome and I knew she was scared of what was going on but at the same time because she knew the calls were coming from Leo's phone number she wasn't afraid for her life. Yet as everything began to escalate she knew she would need some help, although she truly didn't want it!

Jude was awesome and I loved how he was human in that he failed in the past. He was so attracted to April and really was torn with his feelings. I also liked how Jude was open to all the different possibilities and scenarios that were going on, unlike April.

The end was tense and I loved how everything turned out and it was a great ride!

Wow!!! Deadly Obsession captivated me from the beginning and led me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions!! This story weaves in and out a spider web of murder, suspense and mystery as an unknown stalker tries to kidnap a woman.
April is a co-host of the TV show called Celebrity. Since April has broken up with Leo, she is now assuming that he is her deadly stalker. When things really get out of hand, her brother, Max, hires the O'Reilly Detective Agency to protect her. When April meets sexy Detective Jude O'Reilly,  she realizes that not only is he the detective that is protecting her, but he is also a man that she had a one-night stand with that was very explosive.
Jude is trying his best to protect April but she is one stubborn, strong willed woman who doesn't listen and doesn't like to be bossed around which ends up putting herself in more danger and closer in the hands of her stalker.
There is a strong chemistry between Jude and April but Jude doesn't mix business and pleasure. I love the sexual banter between Jude and April!! It is off the charts.
J. Lea has written a masterpiece that will keep you so intrigued that you won't be able to put the book down!! I would definitely recommend Deadly Obsession!! You will not be disappointed!!!

Deadly Obsession by J.Lea

4 stars
Reviewed by Donna

Deadly Obsession written by J. Lea was an interesting story for the most part. It kind of grew on me. I think some of the connections made with the bad guy were choppy but made sense. The physical chemistry between Jude and April was literally off the charts!!!!! The author did a great job in building up her scenes to some steamy moments that lead craziness and some that lead to the bedroom. The moment when Max, April’s brother caught the show was definitely a moment of craziness. He was paying Max to protect his sister not to do the sinful dead but sometimes fate wins out!!!

It was crazy how the bad guy was always one step ahead of the police and the security hired to protect April (Max). There were moments in the story that as the reader I knew something bad was going to happen like when April down into the basement or when they went into the bedroom with broken window. Wooo, Spooky!!

So, I am giving this story 4 stars because there was crazy chemistry between the main characters and mystery all in one story. Most of the characters were developed and the scenes were pretty clear. The story was good.

If he couldn't have her, then no one could...

If you like a good mystery and suspense book, Deadly Obsession does not disappoint. The book is about April Brookes, who gets to live her dream as a host of a television show. She loves her job, the people she works with, but besides her career, her love life is up in the rocks. She broke up with her ex-boyfriend, who was no good for her. April soon after that starts receiving threatening messages, not knowing who they are from, but guesses they're from her ex. In hopes of protecting her, her brother Max hires a private detective to keep an eye on April, but what Max didn't know was April has met the detective before.

Jude is the kind of guy who doesn't stay with one women for very long. But when he is hired by Max to protect April, Jude wasn't thrilled to say the least, at least until he saw her and realized he knew her. The two of them had a past...a casual hookup, and two years later they're reunited.

I love a good plot twist, and not knowing who April's stalker was. I had my guesses from the start, but I was proven wrong, and was not disappointed!

What a thrill ride!

What a ride for these characters! April is a talk show host and is being stalked by her ex boyfriend. He is sending flowers and frightening text messages to her constantly. She is hopeful that he will get some help since when they were together he liked alcohol more than her. It isn't until her brother and best friend find out about it that she takes some official steps to stopping him. Her brother hires a private firm to protect her, his buddy from college, Jude. Once they meet each other they realize they already know each other from a one night stand a few years ago. One that neither of them can forget.
I couldn't turn the pages on this fast enough. The suspense of where her ex has gotten to is never far from the readers attention even though the relationship is developing between Jude and April. April is put into danger several times and Jude is there to pull her out. The twist is not what you expect and it's not over once the mystery is solved. I loved how the story developed and how you can't see it coming.

This is a fully pack action book. April miss independent woman who never lets anyone or anything stop what she wants is on a tv show and enjoying life when a stalker starts and gets her freak out. Her brother is overprotective of her since she's pretty much all he has left of a family. He finds an old college acquaintance to protect her. Jude is thinking it's just another job but turns out they know each other from a night neither can forget. Things get crazier and crazier with the stalker and feelings between Jude and April. It's a little dark at times but don't let it turn you off it a great book.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m glad I took a chance on J. Lea. The plot centres on April, a TV journalist, who after a recent split with her boyfriend attracts the attention of a stalker. Her brother, worried about her safety, hires Jude, a private detective, to protect her from the stalker’s escalating attentions little realising that Jude & April are already intimately acquainted.

The plot moves at a fast pace with lots of thrills & suspense and easily kept this reader engrossed. The characters of Jude & April are well written and the chemistry between them credible. This is definitely an author I will be looking out for in the future.

4.5 stars... I really enjoyed this book and read it in 24 hrs so it was a pretty quick read. This book had a lot of suspense and romance and twists and turns. The stalking added an interesting level to the plot and kept my interest. There were a lot of details about the characters' lives that really gave good insight into their actions throughout the story. I could see this possibly continue as a series with the different cases Jude has.

I've not heard of this Author until now and I'm impressed, so I will definitely be reading more of her books. When I read the blurb I knew I had to read it and I wasnt disappointed.
April is great, she is successful woman and hosts a t.v. show. With recently splitting up from her boyfriend who preferred alcohol to her, the last thing on her mind is men! April begins to get phone calls from her ex's no and it would seem her ex is becoming a bit of a stalker.
In comes hotter than hot Jude (swoon). He has been hired by April's brother to protect her until her stalker is caught. I will tell you that things start to get very interesting!
I'm not going to say much more as I don't want to give anything away, but this is written well and there are a few twists along the way; I do love a book with a twist or two that I wasn't expecting! I would definitely recommend this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This was my first read from j.lea and it was amazing.

The characters are interesting, intensive and funny at times. Although April is a very stubborn woman, she is also very strong and independent. And Jude is alfa man all the way!

I was very surprised about who the stalker was and I haven't guessed it until the very end.

I recommend it to anyone who loves romance and humor.
