Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.
That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
This book suffered from being way too short. I was really enjoying the beginning. We have Jarred, billionaire playboy as the title suggests who feels like he's ignored and disrespected by his father, so instead of proving his father wrong he just gets drunk, spends money and sleeps around. Then there's Kinsley, who works for Jarred's father. She finds out she's going to be homeless unless she can come up with the money to by her flat instead of just renting it. She panics until Jarred hands her the perfect solution: pretend to be his fiance so he can get his trust fund back and he'll give her the money for her flat.
It's a romance so we knew where it was going to end up. However, nothing was really given time to grow. They meet, they make the deal, they fall in love, bing bam boom. Nothing felt natural and everything felt super rushed. I never got the chance to swoon or really fall for these two as a couple. And that's the books downfall.
Also, for a book that takes place in London, this book was full of Americanisms. A few British slang words were thrown in time to time to remind us we were in fact in London, but that's it. It didn't feel organic to the location and that also hurt the enjoyment as London is my favorite place in the world.
Insta Lust, Insta Love. This would have been so much better if it had an English editor. Apart from the typos this book was distracting due to the Americanisms. It is set in London with English characters and yet the author talks about "downtown", "brownstone buildings", "semesters" etc. It should also be noted that Mr Trouble accounts for only 36% of the book. The next 41% is another story, Mr Cocky and the final 20% is London Bound and ends in a cliffhanger. I received a complimentary copy of this book from eBook Discovery. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
The beginning took patience to get through. I feel like the author was trying too hard to sell the idea that FMC - Kinsley Wells - is so desperate that she will agree to anything (fake marriage proposal) in order to help her financial situation. The fake proposal is made by Jarred Maloney, London's rich, playboy, bachelor who is always plastered on social media and being cut off from his trust fund.
As the story progresses and the main characters get to know each other, they learn they shouldn't have been so quick to judge.
I love Kinsley's sassiness, strength, and sweetness. Her ability to see the real Jarred and his potential. I also love the growth Jarred made as a result of Kinsley's insight. I love the chemistry between these two.
What I didn't like was the ending feels rushed. The relationship doesn't go swimmingly. There is a lack of trust and communication. Which was disappointing and conflicting with Kinsley' behavior. I wanted to love this book since my first book by this author was great, but it was only an okay read that felt underdeveloped.
I really enjoyed this book, but wasn’t overly ecstatic about it. The characters meshed well, but at the same time I felt like I’ve read this book before. Sexy and hot.
I’d like it to be noted that writing this review is a huge sacrifice on part of my self respect, because I’m not particularly excited about people knowing I have read it.
THIS is one of those books that give romance genre bad rep. I almost feel like it was trying to offend my level of intelligence and questioned whether its readers ever heard of common sense.
Everything about it was stupid and not believable. They met, fell in love within a weekend or so (really? I mean - reaaaally? Give me a break.) and he went from the guy sleeping with multiple women a night to suddenly wanting to marry the girl he just met and struck a fake relationship deal with. A deal, may I say, which was random and vague - they didn’t even set a deadline.
And don’t get me started on how the reformed playboy was suddenly designing race cars, because he had sketches of his ideas lying around his apartment. Apparently you don’t need an engineering degree to do that shit anymore. Just show up with your sketches and the whole company will happily oblige.
If that wasn’t ridiculous enough, the whole third act breakup really put a bow on the stupidity of it. His ex kissed him on a street for a split second, which was apparently enough for someone to snatch a picture and post it online, which she saw and dumped him on the spot, no explanation needed. It must have been real love then, with all that trust and maturity…
To be fair - the idea wasn’t half bad. Maybe if the author decided to write a whole book, instead of some 100-pages-long short story, it could turn into something worth reading instead of your worst romance book stereotype.
#bookstuffing. Took it from 2.5 star to 1 star for the book stuffing. Story ends at 74%
Story and characters were quite good, probably needed a bit more imagination/creativity. It would have benefitted from: - some basic knowledge of London - even a google search would have shown that most of her premises about London were wrong! I can’t even begin to comment on all the nonsense. It’s one of the world’s great cities, the author must be able to find Londoners! - language was completely American, in the story text it’s almost understandable but in the dialogue?? Two Londoners speaking to each other would never use Americanisms. It’s just plain insulting. Non American authors work hard to be authentic this author didn’t bother. Cell phone anyone? - typos - book stuffing. Contrary to KU rules the book ends at 74% but the author adds a completely irrelevant epilogue which is the start of another book!! Faking it as a second epilogue infers that she knew it was the wrong and immoral thing to do, but this was a way around it.
Clearly she has the basic author skills so all this short cutting is just stupid
☆☆☆☆ ~Lynzi Jarred spends his days recovering from his wild nights. He spends his nights chasing away the reality of his days. Having the alp the money he could every want at his fingertips doesn't matter to him. All he knows is he isn't good enough for anyone. Not the women he thought he wanted to spend his life with, who walked out on him, or his father who thinks he's nothing but a loser. As the sole heir to Harrison Maloney he has alot to inherit. But with the way his life is going now, his father won't let it happen. His father has plan to stop his playboy ways and his outrageous party life. But Jarred has one better for his dad. He comes up with a plan to stick it to the man.
Kinsley never thinks about dating. She has far more important things to worry about. She loves her job as Executive Assistant to Harrison Maloney and has dreams to move up in his business, but that costs money. Money she doesn't have. Not only does she have to worry about finishing school, she just got a letter that will change everything. And not for the good. With worrying and stressing, trying to come up with a plan, she never thought a plan would be laid out in front of her, featuring Mr. Trouble himself.
It doesn't take long for them both to realize just how much trouble they are in. It wasn't supposed to happen. It was never part of the plan. But its the best thing for both of them.
I loved the dynamics of this one. I loved how she seen him and understood him when noone else did. She erased a life time of knowing you aren't good enough, away with just a few comments. He liked how he saw himself through her eyes, and was gonna do what he had to do to become that man.
So good...I just wish it was longer. I wanted more. As always, I'm greedy. Lol
I needed a light read and I'm glad I found this one. It was perfect. Jarred is the playboy billionaire, out partying every night, who finds himself suddenly cut off from his trust fund by his father. His father has two stipulations in order for him to receive it again - get a job and find a nice girl. Jarred tells him he has a nice girl and is engaged but it has been a secret. Kinsley is Jarred's father's PA and is about to loose her apartment. Jarred makes a deal with her.
The story is cute and fun and is a quick read. I enjoyed it. The more Kinsley gets to know Jarred, she's able to see there is more to him than what is on the surface; that underneath he is a scared little boy trying to make his father proud.
I wished this book was longer and delved further into their relationship but I loved it. It was just what I needed to read, when I needed to read it. Cute, fun, and I can't wait to read more. 4-stars!
MR. TROUBLE BY: NANA MALONE This was a cute contemporary romance. It was a quick read, which explains why like went to love rather briskly. The characters were well developed and likable. Kinsley was smart, sweet, independent lady and Jarred was your typical billionaire on the playboy path that needed something or someone to point him in a better direction. While it sounds pretty standard for the romance genre, I liked that Jarred wasn't a total jerk. It seemed like it was more him finally living up to the low expectations his parents had set for him. It was nice seeing him grow out of his parental issues and finally take his life more seriously. Kinsley and Jarred made a cute pair and they seemed good for each other. I was hoping for a little more of the happy couple at the end, but things wrapped up in a nice way.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Jarred Maloney and Kinsley Wells, two people who only have one thing in common, she works as the Executive Assistance for Jarred's father Harrison Maloney.
Jarred's father fighting to drag his son to toe, threatens to cut him off unless he shows more interest in the family business and settles down. So of course, Jarred puts his foot in his mouth and informs his father that he already has a girlfriend.
Kinsley faces losing her flat unless she can come up with the large sum of cash to buy it and Jarred seeing her need and desperation, offers to give her the money in exchange for her pretending to be his fiancée. A win-win as far as Jarred is concerned, but not a terribly interesting book if that's all that happens. Fakery of course doesn't last for long, and that’s when the tale really gets interesting.
The electricity between Jarred and Kinsley is palpable. Their interactions believable, especially considering this book is a short read. Kinsley is the stronger of the two. Jarred often leans on her emotionally when his life hits a large, obnoxious speed bump. Whether this is because of the way they were raised or because of sheer character strength, I was never sure. I just know that, for me, Kinsley stood out as the better of the two, even when she's drowning in the depths of her attraction for Jarred.
'She had wondered what it would be like to be with him, to have him constantly wanting to touch her instead of pretending. He was charming, devilishly handsome, every girls naughty fantasy and for a very short while, he was hers.'
As the tale moves on and the reasons behind Harrison Maloney's actions are discovered, I was left feeling anger where I'm sure anger wasn't where the author was going with in a particular scene. It didn't explain everything and left the water slightly muddy in my honest opinion. That being said, an emotional reaction of any kind proves that the author wove the story in a way that most definitely had the right amount of blood, sweat and tears.
My only real disappointment with Mr. Trouble was how the tale wrapped up. It built up well but then as the finish line drew near, the story sprinted off leaving me feeling very flat. It felt rushed, which was a real shame. Mr. Trouble had been a spectacular read up until that point.
This book was a fun read! I found myself simply devouring it in a couple of hours. Jarred is a trust fund boy who does nothing but party. When his dad is going to cut him off, he has two stipulations to be able to keep getting the money....one has to get a job and the second is for him to settle down. Jarred puts his foot in his mouth and says he already has a girlfriend.
Kinsley faces losing her apartment unless she can come up with a large sum of money to buy it. When Jarred comes up with the plan to give her the money in exchange of her being his fake fiancée. It becomes a win-win for both of them.
You can feel the chemistry that these two have from the start and you can tell they story is going to get interesting. All the way through the book felt it but only disappointment I had was I felt the end was rushed a little bit, but it doesn't take away from the story.
Jarred is the son of a wealthy businessman & is soon to lose his trust fund if he doesn't stop playing & drinking like a college frat boy. With neither a job nor ambition to speak of, his father is laying down the law. "Work for the family business & settle down!" Jared's solution is to find a fake fiancée to appease his father so the money won't stop flowing into his bank account. He takes a closer look at his father's assistant & sees a very attractive, smart, kind young woman. She could be his salvation. Kinsley lives in a rental apartment & is notified that all tenants must buy or vacate by the end of the month. Jarred's plan is to pay her to be at his side long enough to keep his father happy. He needs a potential wife, she needs money, this could work for both of them. An ok story with no major surprises. Circumstances towards the end were a bit unrealistic & also I felt the last few pages were rushed. For me, just an ok read
It's finally time for Mr. Trouble to grow up and move beyond his playboy ways. At least, that's what Jarred's father is insisting on, so Jarred enlists Kinsley's aid as a fake fiancee to satisfy his dad. But then they get to know each other better (and so do we) as we discover Jarred's surprising emotional depth and Kinsley's hard-won inner strength, and the line between fake and real starts to get real blurry. The best romances are when finding your match utterly and completely changes your life, and that's the kind of romance Jarred and Kinsley have. Ms. Malone always brings the naughty to her stories, as well as complex characters building a love so strong that it will last forever. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Mr. Trouble is an interesting story and there is chemistry between Jarred and Kinsley. The story follows the typical as far as fake fiancee romances go - rich playboy needs a wife to keep his money and down on her luck girl needs money fast. Jarred and Kinsley are good together and I liked that they didn't immediately jump into bed, but they did seem to fall for each other rather quickly, especially considering the length of the book. Overall, it is an entertaining read with a relatively low angst level.
Not even a complete sketch just an idea of what a female character is supposed to be. The ex is more realized than her. The motivation are sketchy. The emotions are hints. Lots of tell and very little show. The sex is basic. And the dirty talk is boring. There is nothing redeeming about this book. And she needs a copy editor to save her soul--there are so many pronoun disagreements an English teacher would bathe it in a sea of red.

Mr. Trouble is the first book that I have read by this author and I rather enjoyed it. It is a quick, fun, contemporary romance that will have you hooked from page one. I thought it was well written and the storyline flowed well the characters were also well developed. I will definitely be looking to read more of this authors work.
Jarred "Mr. Trouble" Maloney, is the epitome of the word 'Playboy.' Born into wealth greater than most will ever imagine he spends his nights partying it up, with no lack of bed partners to keep him warm and amused. Days are spent recovering from the events of the night before and planning what his evening will be. Hotel rooms are not safe, something is always destroyed, but with more money to burn, paying for damaged property is not big deal to him. Jarred's crazy, outlandish lifestyle is his way of lashing out. He has never felt good enough for anyone, his father and ex-fiance included. Now he parties it up to his heart's content, that is until his father delivers one final blow to his life
Kinsley has worked hard to get where she is. Dating has never been a thought, making a name for herself however is. As the assistant to Mr. Maloney, she can only hope that one day she will climb the ladder to further success. The last thing that Kinsley ever imagined to happen was having to find a new place to live. Finishing school was all she was working toward and now finding a place to live has become more important, that is until a certain playboy makes her an offer.
I loved how well Jarred and Kinsley worked together. She saw the man that Jarred really is and sets out to prove to him that he is worthy of love. That he isn't the misguided misfit that everyone sees him as. That he is just as capable of showing love as being loved as well. Can these two find a way to overcome the issues of their past and present and make a life together possible or will Jarred be so set in his ways that he will lose everything, fighting the change he needs at every turn?
Mr. Trouble London Billionaire Book 1 by Nana Malone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is one book that's hard to resist, which is one of the things I enjoy about Nana Malone books is that they don't feel the attraction to each other. Jarred Maloney is Mr Trouble. Jarred tries to do everything his father disapproves of so when his father cuts him off from his inheritance unless he settles down. He determined not to be ruled by his father. He enjoyed woman but they never knew him, he always hidden the real him from them but Kinsley gets to know the real man. The chemistry between Jarred and Kinsley is blazing hot, within their relationship it's so believable, especially as it's appears Kinsley character is the stronger of than Jarred. They have plenty of twists but their emotions run high. The story pulled me into it from the beginning and it held my attention until the story's end. There's a twist and it puts you on the edge of your seat. I felt my heart lynch because I wanted their path to run smoothly after the last bump in the road. This is so exciting, powerful, thrilling, dramatic, full of exciting, romantic and arousing. The dialogue is smart, sassy and well written. Nana Malone books are always exciting! What a wonderful read! I absolutely enjoyed this fascinating, sometimes humorous cast of characters that's certainly worth so much praise. Of course there is times the story will make you laugh which will give us more entertaining moments in the story even more. There is a sharper reality throughout these pages. This series is absolutely amazing and I couldn't put my reader down! It's a Phenomenal romance with a Happy Ever After and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I have so many of Nana Malone stories that I want to read, and they all are series. This book is part of the London Billionaires series. This is the story of Jared Maloney only son and child of Harrison Maloney CEO of Maloney Corp a Worldwide automobile corporation. His father was going to cut off his trust fund money unless he straightened up from being a player and getting drunk and become a working member of the company and find a woman to settle down with. He realizes that he needs help but doesn't know what to do because he can't talk to his father without feeling rage. Then enters Kinsley Wells administrative assistant to his father, who happens to be staying in the apartment next to his while her apartment is being fumigated and until she can figure out a way to purchase the condo. Jared comes home drunk, and she takes him to his apartment and puts him to sleep. The next morning, he hears Kinsley talking to someone about her apartment and knows she has need of money that is when he hatches a plan for her to be his fake fiancée. This story is a change of pace from the fast action books I have been reading the Gentleman Rogues series so this a change of pace. This was a very successful Romantic comedy to me, and I really enjoyed. It was a good fast read. I would recommend this book.
This was a really good read. The only reason why I gave it a 4 star was I wish the ending was a little more. The story was a book that I finished in 1 day (home sick), and would read again. I did pre buy the next 2 books, not sure if the characters overlap. Overview: Jarred was raised in wealth and his father was going to cut off his trust fund. For the last few years Jarred was going through some heartbreaking relationship and he didn’t get along well with his father. So drinking, partying and trying not to remember how much of a failure he is. His father will give the trust back if he 1) works for the company, somewhere and 2) find a girl he could settle down with, not a party girl. Kinsley is Jarred’s father’s assistant. Kinsley was having some bad luck herself. She was given notice that her building was putting all the flats up for sale, no more renting. How was she going to pay for her Masters classes as well as get a place to live, she couldn’t afford the buy her flat in such a short time. Jarred offers her a chance to be his fake fiancé for money to buy her flat. But soon the two realize that they are perfect for each other.
A fake fiancé romance, Mr Trouble is all of that and more. When Jarred is given an ultimatum by his father to settle down or to be cut off financially, he strikes a deal with his father, saying he already has a steady girlfriend but then has to back up his statement with fact. The problem was to find that girl at short notice. When he keeps on bumping into his father's PA, he makes her an offer she can't refuse. While Jarred is a loose cannon, Kinsley is wholesome and sweet, displaying a loyalty towards her fake fiancé that Jarred has never before experienced. As they get to know one another, the simmering attraction bubbles to the top and it takes both of them by surprise. This story is all about the love of a good woman and the way in which it can change a man. The romance was sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed both Jarred and Kinsley's characters. The flow of language was good and easy to read, keeping me entertained to the end. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
I walked into this read solely based off of my intrigue inspired by the blurb. I had never read Nana Malone prior to this so I didn't know what to expect when it came to writing style. I can wholeheartedly say I wasn't disappointed.
Jarred had my heart and my interest from the very first few pages and Kinsley solidified it by being one of those female characters that I just enjoyed. If I had to pick a favorite character though, it'd be Jarred. He's good boy heart wrapped in bad boy sexy. My favorite part of this story was getting into his head and seeing that he wasn't as shallow as what his reputation would have people leave. His emotions showed us his vulnerability and had me rooting for him to get his happily ever after.
The story was a quick read, great for one of those times when you want a read that hits all the best points of romance: fun, sweet, and oh-so-sexy. I wanted more.
Can't wait to explore other titles from this author now.
Genre: Romance - Fake relationship Stand-Alone: Yes Part of a Series: Yes - Book 2 of the London Billionaire series POV: Kinley and Jerrod Steam Level: Toasty 4/5
Mr. Trouble was a fast read that I whipped through very quickly. Jerrod is a billionaire playboy who drinks and screws his way through life. Kinley is a hard-working grad student whose flat was just placed on the market. Oh, and Jerrod's dad's assistant. Jerrod's dad who just cut him off with the ultimatum to get a job and settle down. The sparks fly immediately when Jerrod and Kinley first meet and it was a rollercoaster from there. The push and pull of these two characters was intense, sweet, funny, and sexy. I loved getting to know Jerrod and the pain he hides with the boozes and chipping away to the man underneath. It's always the most "troubled" ones that are the most sensitive. I hope we see more of Jerrod and Kinley in future books of this series.
I received this book for free from the author. This is my honest review.
Oh Jarred, you are indeed Mr Trouble, with your alcohol infused, womanising nights. It is no wonder that he is threatened with being cut off as he doesn't appear to be doing anything else. To retain his trust fund he must settle down and find a long term girlfriend and a role in the family company. The second is the easier to accomplish than finding a woman, or so he thinks. Enter Kinsley, his father's assistant who is in need of money to save her home.
As with all fictional fake relationships, they discover their feelings run deep for the other . For Jarred, Kinsley is the first person who truly sees him and beyond his playboy exterior. Kinsley's kindness softens his edges and her sassiness keeps him on his toes.
Sweet Kingsley was given a raw life after her parents died and she moved in to her aunt and uncle’s house. Her cousin was her best friend for life. She finally moved out and finishing up school when her flat was going to be sold and she can get it first if she wanted but she didn’t have the money with school fees and work and bills. Jarred is a playboy who was engaged but Susan his ex found another man that was more rich. He wanted to play the field and live his life. Until his father cuts him off unless he settles down and becomes a part of his father’s empire. He comes up with a plan that involves Kingsley. They can both get something out of it. Jarred gets his life back and she will get money to buy her flat and have money in bank and take a vacation. But when the heart sees something it becomes more than just a job it becomes love. Great book.
