what's highly irritating is how redundant things become. all i hear is, meng hao has never been hurt this much, or meng hao has never faced such strong opponents, or meng hao has never been in as serious danger, etc if you keep repeating those exact lines every 20 chapters of a 1614 chapter book, it loses its meaning and just makes readers snort, roll their eyes and sigh in exasperation.

Stopping my reread here because all the funny parts are mostly done by now. Only missed the Meng Clan arc but can't put up with Meng Hao being a Larry Stu anymore.
ISSTH really thrives when the author accepts that we are not here for the cultivation story. We are here to see Meng Hao conning the Heaven from Earth. The story had its best moments in the Ancient Demon Immortal Sect arc, perfectly balancing emotion and humour. Anyway, it was good to revisit this world

This covers chapters 1005 to 1211.
I'm giving it a 4 mostly for sentimental reasons because we are seeing the love Meng Hao has for his family, for Que Xing and for that final twist with Chu Yuyan. Why everyone is blaming him for the death of Chu Yuyan is beyond me however, she loved him he loves someone else, I do not see how he is to blame there. I love that we haven't forgotten about Han Shan and his wife being trapped. At this point I'm numb to the 'can't touch me' part of Meng Hao's personality, we are already aware he will come up on top in any situation one way or the other. There was a lot of fighting and that gets a bit repetitive after a while because we keep seeing the same fights and the same 'he was never hurt this much' and 'he never faced someone so strong' tropes.
I am interested to see what happens with Slaughter, the whole Windswept Realm storyline was something new and the fact he is the one and only who awoke the bloodline and gave everyone of his clan the Dao seed has potentially interesting implications in the future. We already see he is to become the Lord of all nine Mountains and the Sea Realms, but I am waiting to see what is with those butterflies outside all the Heavens. Him going around and absorbing all the places with bridges is wild but I guess it is all coming together slowly to make him a Paragon that is either the reincarnation of Paragon Nine Seals or a Paragon of equal power.
And, what is probably the best part of Meng Hao's personality keeps shining in this book - he is an asshole who loves to con people and loves to have as much money as possible, making it hilarious to read how he acquires wealth. But, he also has a very human side and deep love for his family and friends, and realistically is only mean to people who he perceives have done him wrong. Does that make him a good or a bad person? Neither. It makes me human.

Meng Hao's saga continue in this book.
By now he is simple too powerful already, so it is time for the big evil guys to start showing their faces, thus a lot more of the history of the Mountain and Sea Realm is revealed in this volume.
Also, some links with Renegade Immortal series are present in this volume, this is pretty cool at this point in the series, I'll have to read it one of those days.

Review of entire series
Starts off a bit slow, but still decent..and then books 3-9 are absolutely phenomenal. I wasn' a fan of Book 10 as it suffers from the tepid melancholic finish typical of Er Gen books, but still one of the best in the genre.
Deathblade does a stellar job with the English tranlation too!

Loved the entire series! Anyone who is looking for a good story with plenty of character development and really good plot, I'd say this series is really good!
Love Er Gen for the great time I had reading the series and for Death Blade for translating this series to English.

This book very nicely ties things up for many of the supporting characters of the story. I really like that dedication to the past of the story and it feels like the story is a comprehensive experience. (disregarding the identity crisis that is book 5)

Awesome protagonist of awesomeness series continues...
I called the series as such semi jokingly. It is written for a different culture and audience and has been translated into English as a third person omniscient story. The transitions between points of views are smooth most of the time but sometimes it is easy to get lost as to whose thoughts or words your reading. This is a long, long, story and I think I kind of had a couple more "longs"to that. Actually I really do enjoy such stories that can go on for days. Even the fast reader will not finish this in a sitting or two unless they skip a lot of stuff and speed read. The language has gotten a little bit worse but it's still appropriate for young adults and above.
This is a cultivation fantasy series in which each and every book The character pushes his limits to grow and faces obstacles while learning new cultivation magics with each level. As he grows and with each book most of the time whatever important all inspiring thing you learned in the previous book is put on the back burner or completely forgotten while he learned something new that's all inspiring and epic. There are some relationships that have carried throughout the series in a few very poignant and emotional aspects that have cropped up in a few of the books which really did hit the heart strings. At the same time the character for the most part remains emotionally disconnected from those around him as he pushes to become stronger. He does develop a few friends but friendship relationships are not really important it seems to the author when it comes to the story itself.
For the audience I think that most would think this is a five-star series for the genre perhaps however there was some things I did find lacking in terms of relationships and plot. By the seventh book it has become way too repetitive at times but at the same time seeing certain plot elements and characters consistently represented or cropping up randomly it seems makes it feel as if all the books are connected at least in some way. It might be a vast story with an enormous set of characters but the author hasn't entirely forgotten about them.
This is supposed to be a fun read and it is if you like to genre. I did enjoy it and gave it an extra star because of the fact that the author has really spread out quite a bit this world without being boring in world building. Hero is a Mary Sue type of character without being the righteous or perfect hero. He is extremely skilled capable of learning seemingly anything and everything and consistently and constantly does things that are unprecedented. He is the awesome hero of awesomeness and best of the best. The author does keep it interesting but it gets extremely repetitive when you can go through multiple chapters back to back of him doing the same thing where he increases his level to unprecedented abilities everybody discusses this and is amazed by this and then he does it again they calm down thinking it is over and then he does it again over and over. At some point you just start to blur things and go to your happy place until it's over.
Some people will really get into that and while it's enjoyable as a wish fulfillment fantasy it can get a bit tedious. There's also the matter of the consistent and constant moments of deus ex machina. While there are so many elements that are spread out there's also moments in which the character will pull something out of his....pocket let's say that has never been explained nor has been set up and it simply something he has learned off page or has improved upon off the page to overcome a moment of crisis.
I have to say though that reading through this series has been enjoyable and has exposed me to a bit more of what other cultures junk food reading is. Nothing is really truly that deep and there are certain tropes that I've been starting to see throughout the series and others. It is inspiring as a hobby writer and interesting to me as a reader to see something new. I almost can compare it to reading something you know genre that you've never really enjoyed before but finding it interesting and engaging enough to make you like it.
Given that the series is on Kindle unlimited I can recommend it highly for those who want a series to spend some time on chipping away getting through it. The page count and word count is ridiculous and I like it. Another great continuation of the journey of Meng Hao
This is one of those stories that grow on you and at this point I’m all for the ride. The author really knows how to craft a well written and comprehensive progression story. 5/5 would recommend!

This is a copypasted review that regards the entire series. Be warned, because I Shall Seal the heavens is millions of words long, approximately 4 times the length of the Bible. The story of I Shall Seal the Heavens is crazy to those unfamiliar with the magic systems this genre uses.
It's pretty good. I give it a pass. Some parts toward the end involving The Big Bad Guy of the series are really weird, but everything else is great and I read through it just fine. Not much I can say about a 3-million-word-long story that I read several years ago.

SUPER GOOD
This is literally one of the best books I’ve ever read... not only is the plot magnificent, but the characters are so well built! 101% recommend this book for readers that love action, adventure, and fantasy!

Great series
I love the books and the characters. The MC is domineering and crafty. I do like the level if detail that the author gives but it can take away from the story some with the amount that is given. Almost feels like it was a DBZ episode.

This book is hilarious, Meng Hao is so shameless and cons people 24/7, yet he is so loyal. I love it so much, I hope he will soon find his wife...

January 11, 2019I think originally the story was going to be different. We were setting up for a clash with the Ji family but this is where it became something else.
