Smoke Road

Rate this book
He’s a warrior with a poet’s heart.
She’s a doctor with a wounded past.
Together, they are humanity’s best chance for survival.

A brilliant scientist, Dr. Nani Kagawa is uniquely qualified to track down the terrorists who released Scorch Flu. The last thing she needs is a distraction—especially not an alpha male like Luca Luciano—no matter how pretty his eyes or lovable his dog.

Jaded and rough on the outside, Luca Luciano hides romantic ideals behind a wall of muscle and attitude. He isn’t accustomed to compromise, but he’s willing to die for the woman he loves… and he just might have to.

From the spectacular cover to the final sentence this book had me enthralled. I was totally blown away by Luca and Nani just exploded off the pages in every way, I loved the way they fought each other and then how they tumbled together the back and forth was highly entertaining and scintillating. Luca is a grumbly bear who is letting the past eat him alive, Nani thinks every man is controlling as her ex was and even though you can see, feel and smell the smoke these two make for each other, they both need to let go of their pasts and stop judging each other they are both to blame for mistakes when they judge each other on incidents and people from their pasts.

I felt like yelling at the 2 of them..lol or banging their heads together stubborn, stubborn people, live in the here and now, build on what you have right now cause there may not be a tomorrow.

A truly imaginative, innovative storyline that really makes you think about the future, or will there be one?

This is the 3rd book in this series and I can't say enough about it. From the very beginning when luca and nani were sparing and she knocks him on his butt. I have to say this may be one of my favorites as I love how luca follows his religion I am anxiously awaiting the next one where we meet dante

The third book, Smoke Road, in the Scorch Flu series by Toby Neal and Emily Kimelman, features Dr. Nani Kagawa, and Luca Luciano -or Dr. Delicious and Cocky Lupo as they sometimes silently call each other. Consistently at odds because of their own life experiences that color their perception of the opposite sex, the two share the command of a special task force to discover the source of the Scorch Flu leak and distribution. As the United States as they know it continues to disintegrate around them, they fight their attraction to each other while fighting the epidemic and those that unleashed it upon the country. Smoke Road simmers along, getting hotter and hotter, the ‘smoke’ that was in their eyes clouding their perception clears, Nani and Luca find their way to trusting and loving each other amidst the destruction they face.

Much better

Wasn't a fan of the last book, but really enjoyed this one. We got lots more action and while we got sex and romance, it didn't overwhelm the story. A really good mix here. Luca was a bit of a stubborn turd, but he came around. Liked the Noni character. She was pretty bad a$$.

Someone needs to adjust this star rating system, why can't we have ten or more? I'm so in love with this series and I can't stop devouring the words. The women, oh the women, are so smart and intelligent. The men are partners with their women and aren't afraid to own their feelings. But what I truly love is the adventure they undertake. Each novel has a different situation to overcome before heading to the Haven in Idaho. Nani and Luca have been tasked by the President to find the group that released the virus. Nothing is ever just that simple but the two of them connect easily and work as a team. All of the books are told parallel to each other, as the virus is breaking out and America is falling apart the Luciano family is desperate to come together again. You must start this series from the beginning, no skipping around because they do work off each other. Much thanks to Toby and Emily for trusting me with an advanced copy. I have written this review voluntarily in hopes that I can support their success.

Another fast paced book that takes you on the journey with the characters. This will keep you turning the pages and wanting to know what is going to happen next. Luca and Nani are tracking down the individual/group that is responsible for releasing the virus. While on this mission, they are also fighting the attraction and chemistry that is apparent between them. They both have trust issues and have to come to terms with things before they can move forward together.

While they find out who is distributing the virus, the question to me still remains of how they obtained it. I think it's just the beginning of uncovering more of a cover up than anyone would think possible. You know that this has to go deeper than anyone thinks.

Great addition to the series! Excited to continue the journey with Burnt Road.

The third book, Smoke Road, in the Scorch Flu series by Toby Neal and Emily Kimelman, features Dr. Nani Kagawa, and Luca Luciano, the oldest of the Luciano brothers.
This book was an emotional roller coaster right from the start. Both characters scarred from earlier life experiences but drawn to each other like moths to flame right from the beginning as they start their mission to try to stop the spread of Scorch flu.
Watching these characters grow emotionally as they diligently strive to complete their mission was a salute to Toby and Emily's growing synergy as a writing team as each book is written.
Oh, and by the way...this book is HOT! The chemistry between these characters is scorching :-)

Smoke Road is the pivotal third book in the Scorch Series. You not only get a glimpse into how the Scorch Flu was created and released in the States, but you get another Luciano brother. Luca, the oldest of the Luciano siblings, is teamed up with Dr. Haunani Kagawa to find where the virus is being stored. Luca and Nani find themselves in a race against time to locate the virus, stop it from spreading, while fighting their growing attraction to each other.

This is my favorite so far in the series, and yes, I'm aware I say that every time a new book releases. But I really mean it this time. At least until Burnt Road comes out! Toby & Emily are a great team and I hope there's a lot more from them after this series ends.

Smoke get to your heart

These stories just keep getting better and better! I instantly loved Nani and was fixing to rate Luca as a womanizer, and woman hater...he was! The love hate love hate some more love...was making me just as agitated as both characters where with each other! Truly hard to put down. I woke up in the middle of the night because I believed the book was called my name! Great book, a teeny tiny bit predictable, but in a good way. I guess its how I wanted it to end and Toby & Emily read my mind!

I really enjoyed this book, read it cover to cover in one lazy Sunday . Each one of the brothers in this series is unique and interesting. Each love story unique and captivating. Love the apocalyptic setting for this series and cant wait for the next book. I am sure I will cry when the series ends and I have to say goodbye this family.

Oh, my! Another HOT Luciano brother! Once again, this 3rd book in the 'Road' series shows that love conqueres so many things. Seems like the brothers are all (so far) afraid of getting too close to women. Why? One quote may explain: "Men on the verge of falling hard were known to run the fastest." Thankfully, Toby and Emily have strong and FAST women in their writing! Scorch Flu continues; we get more insight into where, why and how. Luca and Nani play a pivotal part in the why and how. One last happy quote: "He was more than in love with this woman - he was lost in her."
BTW, there are a lot of action scenes, guns, rocket launchers, etc., to keep the non-romance reader thrilled! Loved the thriller/mystery parts!

I absolutely love this series. As a fan of Toby's Lei crime world series, I knew this one would hold my interest. But, I was surprised at how much. Toby creates characters that are complex and can hold your interest. Luca is very set against the wiles of women. That is until a sexy doctor turns his life upside down and makes him face his past. Nani is hard, living in a man's world, always having to prove herself. Together as they try to find the person who released the Scorch Virus, they learn that life is about love and giving. Together they make an awesome team and eventually find their way home together.

The journey of the Scorch Series continues with an exciting combination of adventure, suspense, and romance. I loved the story of Luca and Nani! This series gets better with every new book, and leaves the reader eagerly awaiting the next release. Toby and Emily are such a perfect writing team and really get into the minds and hearts of all their characters. Be forewarned if reading late at night, these books are "unputdownable" until you reach the last page! And even then, you are begging the authors to hurry up and release the next book so you can continue the journey.

This series just keeps getting better and better! In this book we meet Luca Luciano the oldest of 9 brothers and the 4th we've met so far in this series. A soldier and a poet. And Dr "Nani" Kagawa who gets to tell the President and his staff that the Scorch Flu (that has become pandemic) is actually a US man made virus to use as a weapon. You will have to read the book to find out what and how these two do about it.
Warning ⚠️ you need to have time to sit and read it tho because once you start you won't be able to put it down!
The best book in this series so far. Toby and Emily keep us enthralled and anxious for the next book.

Another winner in the Scorch Series! I don't want the series to end. After we run out of Luciano brothers, maybe some friends can head towards the Haven? These books really suck you in, partly because I see our world heading in this direction in the not to distant future. Waiting on Book #4!

Smoke Road is thrilling 3rd book the Scorch Series. Luca a Texas National Guard has to help Dr. Nani under cover the source of the virus, from orders from the President. Unfortunately, the world is falling apart around them. Can they find the people to blame? Will they prevent more people from getting sick? Will thick headed Luca help Nani? Such a good book. It hard to believe it was written by two different authors.

SMOKE ROAD by Toby Neal and Emily Kimelman. Nani life's trying to control things that refused to be controlled. The Scorch Flu virus plaguing the Pacific Northwesf, is out of control. Luca in Texas joins her mission as they try to find the origins of this virus. Being asked by the President. They both have secrets, demons they keep hidden. Meanwhile sparks fly between them. This has a raw gripping edge as they fight terrorist , as well as the emotions that is between them. They have created a great suspense story for all readers to enjoy. Each story in this series will keep one on the edge as they read. Given ARC for my voluntary and my honest opinion.

A great addition to the series that really gives us a look at how this epidemic got started. Hot, heavy, fast and bone chilling this book will have you yelling at characters, wondering how deep this conspiracy and cover up go, and, of course, full of hope that in the midst of chaos, love always prevails.

Intense suspense surrounds the quest for good as Nani and Luca join together in an effort to fight the terrors of Scorch Flu. However, equally terrifying is their conflicted, very complicated efforts to figure out their relationship and confront demons from their past that threaten to undermine their future. An engrossing, fast paced novel filled with suspense, romance, uncertain tomorrows, and the high stakes of a dangerous mission all pull together in this fabulous sequel to the Scorch series. You will be pulled into the novel within the first three pages so set aside a good block of time to indulge in the joy of this great read.

SUPER INTENSE!!

Smoke Road (Scorch Road Book 3) is the most intense of Scorch Series by far! It's nonstop action for main characters Luca Luciano and Dr. Haunani Kagawa. The brilliant Dr. has been tasked with forming a Task Force and locating the mastermind behind Scorch Flu. Plenty of sparks are flying between the two as they try to keep focused on their task and as they encounter all manner of almost unfathomable obstacles. Will they succeed in tracking down the mastermind of the Scorch Flu? What then? Do they return to help the government or do they go to join the Luciano family at the Haven?

Luca is distrustful of women, driven by anger, rage, guilt and despair. He keeps his emotions and his secrets in a locked box in his mind where not everyone fits or stays put (you will have to read the story to figure this one out). He is as stormy inside as the storms that rage in the desert around him. Nani is one of the toughest women on earth- honest, brave and smart. She battles her own demons. Together, though not by choice, they need to find and stop a common enemy. Tanner Hillish is a mad man and at the center of an epidemic. This story is gritty in a good way, the emotions are real and raw in a time of unspeakable devastation. The sparks fly as often as the bullets; this is one hot combo. There is plenty of action, with a good dose of wisecracks, and just enough humor. Toby and Emily lit a bonfire with this one.

Lots of edge of the seat moments as Dr. Kawaga and the military Luciano brother are commissioned to locate the extremists that have spread the super flu with a 90% die off rate. While trying to protect themselves from thieves and murderers, they both deny a growing attraction to each other.
