Follow-up story to ’Til Death Do Us Part

Henry and Sam Miller-Greene are enjoying life in the summer after Henry’s rescue from a small South Pacific island, where Henry and three others were marooned for five years.

Henry and Sam thought adopting Aiden -- the child with whom Henry had been stranded -- would be smooth sailing. Matters are complicated by the public nature of their rescue that has turned the survivors into overnight celebrities. Anti-gay-fueled animus rears its ugly head in the blogosphere, causing concerns over the impact libelous rumors might have on Aiden.

With their nightmare separation behind them, Henry and Sam are anxious to renew both the intensity of their former intimacies -- now hampered by having a curious and still apprehensive child sharing their home -- and their commitment to one another. Will they be able to move their love forward now that they are together again?

Basically, this short sequel is an epilogue to ’Til Death Do Us Part, and my love of epilogues had me enjoying this immensely, as it shows how Sam and Henry are faring a few weeks later after being separated for 5 long years.

Despite some major adjustments that need to be made in many facets of their new life together, least of all acclimating to being official full time parents (Aiden continues to be beyond adorable), it was very nice to see their love grow even stronger.

David Gilmore so far narrates the entire series, and this second entry was reassuringly consistent. A very satisfying conclusion to Sam and Henry’s happy ending!

Thank you to the author/publisher for the audio in exchange for a honest review

I would have preferred to read this as part of ’Til Death Do Us Part rather than as a separate novella.

It was okay, and the reader gets some more time with Sam and Henry.

Otherwise...this was really just a kind of sweet epilogue to 'Til Death Do Us Part and David Gilmore narrates the audio much the same in this installment with character voices that are easily discernible, good timing, and clear enunciation.

Note: this should not be read as a standalone. It should definitely by read after book 1.

“I love you more than anything in the world.”
“More than Dad?”

💀Kids really do ask the darnedest things.

35 pages is too little😫this was basically an epilogue.

But I got to read about my sweethearts renewing their vows and moving on with their lives. Finally.

So, a win is a win.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Aww, this was a cute short about Sam, Henry and Buddy (Aiden). I wish it gave more about them further in the future, like Aiden in high school and how he (they) handle dating and driving. Maybe those moments are still to come. I hope so. :)

These were still cute times and for those who read book 1 (and enjoyed it) they will want to read this short too. Nothing earth shattering and if I am being honest here, you should pick this up if/when free. Not sure what the current price is for this one but it makes a great free short read.

I am truly a fan of this author. I recently was able to read book 3, Nash's story, and liked it too. I hope to revisit these guys again in future tales. Solid 3 stars.

The sequel for 'Til Death Do Us Part and cannot be read as standalone. At first I thought the ending of the first book was enough for me. The HEA Sam and Henry given me was so comforting and great ending to my roller coaster ride with them. I was a bit hesitant to start this book because I was scared to see them going through another hurdle of challenges. But am glad to say, there was no angst in this. It was just cheerful smiles and great romance from page to page. THIS book is the perfect ending for them.

So this little blurb of a story (Amazon lists 50 pages, but it felt shorter) doesn’t feel like much of a sequel to ‘Til Death Do Us Part to me, but rather more like the epilogue that should have closed the original book. With that in mind, please note this is not going to be very fulfilling if anyone tries to read it as a stand-alone. I remember one of my biggest gripes about the main story is how haphazard the resolution is between the accidental love triangle, so I definitely liked how this follow-up touches on Henry’s insecurities about his proposal to Sam versus Sam’s proposal to Nash. The actual words-on-page angst that stems from this is light, which is a bit of a disappointment, but the last several pages are dedicated to the Grand Gesture meant to reinforce Henry and Sam’s relationship, so that was good.

While normally I get very into social issues, not the least of which are gender-related ones, I will say that I wasn’t very impressed with the right-wing nut job that stirs shit up in the book. It’s not a very personal account, just some blowhard mansplainer who obviously knows everything about anything because he is a Man, but in his hyper-heteronormative Maniverse, this means he can fight Henry for custody because Reasons. I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at that tripe. And of course likeminded talking heads/media outlets start raising Cain over the whole scenario. While I completely sympathize with this facet of the story, it kind fell a bit flat for me. Better I liked the scenes that showed how completely Henry, Sam, and Buddy had developed into a family unit and how the addition to the family hadn’t come between the two husbands, but brought them more together. I thought there would be more to explore on that front, but it didn’t come in this story.

Can I just take a minute to say, cover love? Okay, with that out of the way, I put my hand up for a review copy of this story prior to seeing the cover, based on the fact I loved ‘Til Death do us Part.

This story is low on angst, besides some homophobe meddling in affairs that shouldn’t concern him, and is more about reacquainting yourself with the world after being stranded on an island for five years. The innocence of six-year old Buddy/Aiden is even more prominent because of his isolated start to life. The love between him and Henry is palpable. I’m glad Buddy got to spend time with his biological family. His grandparents were wonderful people.

As the title suggests, Henry and Sam renew their vows. The trip away on their own added some steam to the story.

In a sense this story gives closure to the outcome of book one, and I’d highly recommend it to those who have read ‘Til Death do us Part.

Now I’m off to dive headfirst into book 3!

This is a longer epilogue. 2 weeks after their return to civilization.
It was a bit superficial.. I wish for more emotion/passion/discussion..

I was thrilled to see a sequel to Til Death Do Us Part, where Henry was involved in a plane crash over the Pacific Island and stranded for five years while Sam thought he'd died. I completely fell for Henry and his fellow survivors on the island, and was really looking forward to getting more about them and their re-entry into society.

This book, however, was not that. It's more of an extended epilogue to the first book, where we get our unequivocal happy ending to Sam and Henry's (and Buddy/Aiden's) story. There's very little angst, despite the hints at the beginning with an homophobic-backlash to Henry and Sam adopting Buddy. (This threat shows up early - and then mostly disappears without further comment twenty pages on. Which, considering its nature, is exactly what it deserves, but made me wonder why the author bothered to include it in the first place, since that would have made for a fascinating if sadly realistic plotline.)

We also don't really see Henry or Buddy (or anyone else) dealing with the PTSD their return would have caused. There's a couple of bumps, but no real issues. I did appreciate how Buddy's biological family is brought into the storyline. (Buddy/Aiden has grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles, and as an adoptive mom, I really loved how sensitively this was handled, including the issue of what they call him - since on the island, none of the men knew his birthname Aiden and thus called him Buddy.)

But that's mostly what I had expected, it's not what the author wanted to write. For an extended epilogue, this was sweet, the cherry on the top of the ice cream sundae (so to speak). Everything is tied up with neat bows, and if you're looking for additional closure from the first book, you'll find that here in spades.

I really liked getting to hear more on Sam, Henry and Aiden/Buddy's life after the island once they are settled. I was a little confused as to who the totally random dude was, that was trying to cause issues and get custody of Aiden. I would have liked there to be more on that part of the story. But overall I think this was a short, cute addition to the series.
Again, the same as book one narration. I think the narrator did good on the character voices, but again there were a few times it sounded a little muffled like he was adjusting the microphone?? I'm not sure what is going on with that? But it didn't take anything away from the story itself.

I enjoyed this follow up novella so much more than the original story. Though there were still a few places where I was less than into the story, I felt like the narrator did a better job - maybe it was because this entire story was told in first person POV from Henry's perspective. I still liked Buddy (Aiden) best of all. I think this book was the perfect conclusion for this story!

This story follows on from Til Death do us Part and continues with Henry and Sam's story. Now they are trying to get their lives back together while dealing with homophobic outrage about their relationship in the aftermath of Henry being marooned in the island for years. It was lovely seeing them together as they rediscover each other and form a family with Aidan.

This is a quick listen and a lovely addition which makes Henry and Sam's story a more complete ending.

This is the same narrator as book 1…not my favorite but I’m super picky.

This was a nice addition to the story but it should have been just added to the first book. I’m not sure if it was an afterthought or it was planned to be separate. We see more of Henry and Sam with Aiden and get resolution on one of the questions I had from book 1 but not every question I was left with.

If you read/listen to book 1, you’ll want to read/listen to this one.

The perfect followup to 'Til Death Do Us Part. Sam, Henry and Aiden (buddy) are home, moving forward into their HEA. I loved that Sam and Henry actively worked to make Aiden's biological family a real part of their lives. Outside forces work to dismantle what they have but nothing can tear them apart. Sam made me smile when he asks Henry to marry him again, it was perfect. Having Aiden be part of their ceremony was too sweet.

This second book in this series (only 50 pages) should have been added to the first book. But it's KU, so what's to complain 😀!

From This Day Forward (Vows Book 2)

This book continues where the first one left off with Henry and Sam still trying to adjust to each other, and both men making a life for Buddy/Aiden. This story cannot be read as a standalone. For me, I think this novella had too much recreating and retelling what happened in the first book and not enough about their lives now. I felt like if all the information retelling the story from the first book was taken out, what was left could have just been an epilogue at the end of the first book.

The narrator is David Gilmore and he did a fantastic job bringing this story to life! He had an easy to listen to voice, kept a good pace, expressed appropriate emotions. There were no weird pauses in his narration, which is important when listening to an audiobook (in my opinion). The narrator gave characters individual voices which made it easy to listen to, he wasn't just reading a story.

Though this wasn't what I had hoped in the follow up novella about Sam and Henry, we still got to see a little more of their lives and how Aiden is doing and that was nice. But, I still wished for more from this story.

Review:
This is a follow up story to ’Til Death Do Us Part. It picks up where the first book left off and if you have not read the first book, this book will not have the meaning that is intended. I strongly suggest that you go and read ’Til Death Do Us Part. That book was interesting and made me a little crazy. I had to stop reading at about 85 percent to go to work and all I could think about was Henry, Buddy, Sam, and Nash. It truly was a fantastic story to read. If you have not read it. Stop reading this review and go get ’Til Death Do Us Part. You will not be sorry. Then come back to get this story. The plot is about how Henry and Buddy acclimate to being back in the real world off of the island that they called home for most of Buddy’s life. Now they are facing the media and the homophobic people that feel that Buddy would be better off living with the relatives of his deceased parents and not two homosexual men. Henry and Sam have undeniable chemistry. A love that survives the worst of times. At 51 pages, the pacing is pretty fast. Again, if you haven’t read the first book you will be pretty lost. This book has a sweet happy ending. The character Development was pretty much done in the first book. I personally enjoyed this story because I read the first book.

I was given this short story in exchange for a honest review so here it is....This was a great way to end the story that started in 'Till Death Do Us Part'. A great emotional story of love that surpasses all hurdles. The two main characters, Sam and Henry, had weathered a horrifying tragedy. Brought back together, now with an adopted son, and putting their lives together with a love that was cherished and even more so now. Aiden, Buddy, was getting to know his extended family, but there would always be bigots and haters out there that wanted to destroy what the three had. Sam and Henry felt it was time to renew their vows to show the world and themselves how much they loved each other. This was a beautiful story that makes your heart swell with love. Highly recommend this two book series. This short story just tops off everything. Loved it.

I liked it a lot, I think anyone who know the characters from ‘Til Death Do Us Part appreciate to know what happened next to them. I certainly enjoyed it.

I didn’t feel the same heartbreaking emotions I felt in the previous book, but what was so easy to feel was love. It was so nice to see how the much everyone care for each other, and not meaning only Sam and Henry, but everyone who was on the book, it was so satisfying to see how much meaning was put into simple words or gestures. This story centers more in how regular life is for them and how they manage the issues that try to risk their stability.

I really liked. I loved the characters, I really liked the way Sam and Henry interact with Aiden, I think those were my favorite moments of the story. I don’t think it would work as a stand-alone, but if any reader already know the characters, I think this story can be easily enjoy.

Synopsis: Henry and Sam are together after their separation. They are moving forward with adoption plans for Aiden. Unfortunately, the public interest in their story means that everyone has an opinion on whether or not they are fit to be parents. And even though Aiden's biological grandparents originally agreed that they wouldn't take Aiden away from Henry, they have second thoughts when questions of the child's safety (from haters, not from Sam and Henry) are brought forward.

What I liked: that Sam and Henry had to learn how to be together again...and how to parent. I liked that everyone directly involved just wanted what was best for Aiden.

What I didn't like: nothing.
