David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”)
David published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996; the feature film adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 52 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. David has also published seven novels for younger readers. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 200 million copies sold worldwide.
In addition to being a prolific writer, David is a devoted philanthropist, and his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®. Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family and adult literacy programs in the United States.
A lifelong Virginian, David is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
This one was a bit dragging in parts. It was okay. I’d figured out most of the plot points meant to be suspenseful before they happened. Not my favorite by Baldacci.
My husband got me reading this series. They are more than guy flicks. I stayed up late to finish one so I could get to the next one. Baldacci creates intriging characters you find yourself rooting for.
Excellent! I loved these books and the best was to listen to all 3 in a row! Oliver Stone and his buddy's are interesting characters and the plots were great. The Camel Club: I enjoyed the plot and the outcome The Collectors: Loved the con-artist! Stone Cold: Great conclusion of a great plot I didn't enjoy the narrators of The Collectors
The Collectors is book 2 of Camel Club series. I really struggled getting into book 1 which was Camel Club. Kind of boring. Started it put it down and started it again months later. Book 2 is much better. Started off with 2 different stories that ended up coming together later. Liked vulnerability of one of the characters. Last paragraph on last page clearly sets the stage for book 3.
When I bought this, I didn't realize it was abridged (totally my fault). I think I would have liked it better unabridged because I can't help wondering what I missed! But it was still a good li s ten, and I was able to follow the storylines in each book without issue. so, if you want a shorter version of the first 3 books in this series, I would recommend.
Interesting to read today since so much has happened since in national and international politics. Fun, quick, and some twists and surprises in each. Can’t wait to read more. Book 1: 3 out of 5 stars Book 2 + 3: 4 out of 5 stars
Several books in this box set, I think I had read most before, but David Baldacci is such a good author and Stone makes a good homeless hero taking on the establishment. It was good to read in order and see how they are all tied together. Well done for the Camel club.
Loved all the Camel Club books. Highly recommend. The characters are easy to identify with and make for great reads. I would have loved more of these books.
I went to a author reading with David Baldacci in 2013 when this book was published. While the presentation was anything but impressive, his book certainly kept my interest. The old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover," should also translate to, "Don't just a book but the author."
He kept my attention all of the way through the book with a surprise ending that asks each reader to consider acting too hastily when forming opinions and judgments. Going beyond the first run of inferences should help he reader when considering alternate strategies for problem-solving.
A long and ultimately a mediocre thriller. Sometimes the scope of a book is just too large to be encompassed in a mere 450 pages or so. If the scope is too board and the characters too numerous we cannot get to know the characters as individuals, their personalities, their foibles, and their histories. Baldacci writes with great brio, but we would like to know more about the individuals and what drives them. All in all, an entertaining, but disappointing read.
This was an easy fun read to pass the time. I like the fourth in the series the best "Divine Justice," however the first three books were fun, as well. Don't look for an in-depth crime drama however you can look for fun, good character building, and an interesting story. This is a great series to read while on vacation.
It was probably because this was an abridged version that I wasn't enthralled with it. I generally stay away from abridgments, but this was given to me. Still, for an abridgment, and for a story focusing on political intrigue, it wasn't bad. (Mine didn't have all three stories--only "The Camel Club".
Great series of books...the latest is Divine Justice. Great characters. My favorite of the series is the second...The Collectors...because it largely involves book collecting and the Library of Congress.
Being that this was an abridged version, I found it hard to keep track of characters, events, etc. As far as I am concerned, this version ruined my enjoyment of three good (and recommended) Baldacci books.
These were mildly entertaining. A lot like 3 episodes of Scooby-Doo. Including pulling the mask off of the bad guy in the end. I'm only giving 2 stars because it was on Audible and made putting my makeup on in the morning feel slightly less than wasting time.
I rediscovered David Baldacci & read thru this entire series. I really liked john Carr & all the members of The Camel Club & hated to get to the end. My favorite Baldacci series.
