Almost dying will change a man. There’s no redemption for me, but I sought her out to make amends. Except now I can’t bring myself to tell her who I really am. And I won’t let her go.
HER: He wears his secrets like a shroud. Enough darkness in his eyes for ten men, let alone one. All hidden behind granite…but I see through the cracks. Every day I felt like I might shatter. Now I’m sheltered in his fortress. Until the truth comes out…and I realize I haven’t even begun to understand the meaning of pain.
Fifty percent of this book was the H and h having internal dialogue with themselves. After awhile it is just boring. I never connected with the characters. I enjoy reading but this was too wordy and it really says nothing. Why did Ciprian suddenly change? Why did Dana give up all she had built with her deceased husband? Why is Ciprian penniless? The soliloquy going on in the characters heads were too much. This awesome series ended with a dud!
SO WHY DID I READ THIS STORY WITHOUT DELVING INTO THE SERIES FIRST? Maybe because I'm an idiot. Now I'm DYING to catch up. This story was very intriguing!
This was Kaye Blue's last book in the Romanian Mob Chronicle and I must say it was bittersweet for me.
Club Petran had memorable characters/quotes but 'Redeem' with flawed hero, Ciprian Dragos and broken heroine, Dana was all about forgiveness and moving on together or apart. I am so glad Dana chose the later with Ciprian. I enjoyed the story a lot and since honestly both Ciprian and Dana were loners, well I was thinking that was the reason Blue focused more on their inner musing instead of dialogue to each other. So all in all, I give this book a 4 star rating.
BTW, this book is best understood if you read or reread "Fight" where Ciprian Dragos was first introduced as the soulless fighter who worked for the greedy, Markov and was told to killed Ioan woman, Patricia in the ring.
Who says formulatic is awlays a problem? Not me...I know what I like in my books and Kaye Blue will deliver everytime. Dangerous hero with ties to the underworld? Check! Curvy heroine who is sucked into the crime world? Check! Instant attraction? Check!! Sizzling sexual tension? Check!! Gratifying climax? Check! Glimpse into the world of organized crime? Check!! I cannot complain when I get an erotic interracial story where the hero is dangerously sexy, the heroine is sweet with a dark past and I get to watch the fireworks when these two meet. In every book the juxstaposition of the lethal vs. the innocent is a winning combo. I like how the men are bad and they own it. The women are drawn to these men but do not try to change them. Their love must survive in a world full of blood and death.
Some books stood out to me more than others: Keep, Possess, Fall, Reign, The Enforcer and more. Least favorite so far: Avenge, war, the wedding, Redeem
WTH I don’t even know which read was worse. Between love after life series had me deep in my feelings- but not in a good way. It’s giving B*** ,don’t kill my vibe “*by Kendrick Lamar, and honestly? My vibe got murdered.
Emotionally, it was stuck in one year. I’m used to read that hit every note – action, drama, a little comedy, relief, maybe even some chaos. This one? Nah. it felt like the author forgot how to switch lanes. I need that multiple personality energy in the story, not a one – emotional monologue.
The heroine? No better. Her tendencies were self – loaded, like a walking Nike slogan: just do it. Be done with it. No depth, No growth. Just vibes and bad decisions.
In the hero? Whew. Melodramatic to the max like, bro, take a breath. It’s not that deep.
I gave it to stars, and that’s me being generous. But hey – I finished it. So shout out to me for pushing through now it’s time to move on. Next book better come correct.
Wish it was longer. I was really surprised by this book and the depth of emotion ii evoked in me. Both Ciprian (who I had some serious reservations about and ended up loving) and Dana were great multifaceted characters. A recurring theme in this series is people fighting to get beyond their painful pasts to building a life and finding love in the process and the main characters did just that. This was a wonderful conclusion to an awesome series.
I love this series and find each book worthy of 5 stars. This last entry, Redeem, is the story of Dana and Ciprian. It finishes the series with its thoughtful, heartwarming story as these two broken souls find healing in each other. It was well worth the read and, later, the purchase of the whole series.
It was just ok for me. I'm a huge fan of Kaye Blue. I've read all her books. But, the last few books have not been as good as the others. I feel like there was way to much inner dialogue. The characters spend way to much time analyzing themselves that it makes me lose interest in the story.
Books 1-6 we're utterly AMAZING! I enjoyed all of the characters but book 7 sort of fell short for me..and may have even been left off. However, the stories were written beautifully.
Ciprian and Dana’s journey is very different from the rest of the series. It’s not loaded with guns, violence, or near death experiences. The depth of loss, of relationships, and trust is just as strong and moving. Wonderful end for the series.
This story is very different from her previous books. It's slower and more intense. They aren't any bad guys. It's about two people who've lost their way. It makes you think.
I like the beginning of the book I did not like the ending but I will still recommend framily and friends to read the series because books one to six was an excellent read
This book took on a much more subdued almost quiet pace. It was different from the fast world of mobster bad boys we've previously read. Ciprian is looking for redemption through Dana for the secret he keeps. Dana tries her hardest to live a solitary life and fix her old farm house. A house she feels is the only stable and dependent thing in her life, which she clings to. The two of them end up finding a very real and comforting love they both thought they didn't deserve. Ciprian wants almost blindly to right the wrong he has done to her in the past, while trying to give her something to live for other than repairing her home. I enjoyed it, although the internal dialogue was a bit monotonous at times it was a good read.
The majority of the story takes place in the heads of the H and H and even with that it's a repetition of the same thoughts and sentiments over and over. Nothing really happens, there is no real connection between the H and H who are the only ones in the story. Just when you think something is going to happen it fizzles into nothing.
There is so much that could have been mined from Ciprian, definitely a missed opportunity.
This was a good read, but I must admit that I wanted a little more. Dana and Ciprian were truly two lost souls, meeting and coming together under the strangest of circumstances. But it felt like they spent more time in their own heads than they did really communicating with each other. With the exception of the big conversation after Ciprian's revelation, they didn't really do a whole of talking. I really liked Ciprian in the previous book, and I liked Dana for him, I think I just wanted more for him. Having said that, I'm glad things worked out for them.
I really enjoyed the series and I'm gonna miss these crazy Romanians.
There was way too much back and forth for my liking. It almost made me want to stop reading this book. I've enjoyed all the other books in this series, and for this to be the ending.....it was a big let down
This author can write about love all day long and then some I've read every book more than once and never been disappointed never wanting the story to end I'm gonna need a new book immediately!!!
It took me a minute to remember Ciprian; but once I did, everything fell into place and I really enjoyed the story. It was really interesting to hear their inner musings. A great end to a fantastic series. Can't wait Ms. Blue's next book.
