FALL IN LOVE WITH JUSTICE
Catherine Rousseau is an ambitious senator with a painful past. She sacrifices herself for her country and knows how to get what she wants. When she sets her sights on the Oval Office and amending the Constitution, she can't afford to be distracted. Especially not by Harrison Parker, the sexy and brooding senator newly appointed to Congress.
But when they’re thrown together and their goals collide, will they find themselves chasing justice . . . and each other?
She reached for the towel and brushed Harrison’s fingers, but he didn’t let go. Instead, he tugged the fabric tighter and inched her closer. “You should get out of your clothes,” Harrison said. His voice was heady. “There’s a bedroom with a shower in the back.” His eyes commanded her attention and made it difficult to breathe. Catherine hesitated for a moment, but she was soaking wet and past shy. Her breasts swelled against her lace bra, which was likely visible though her thin blouse. She didn’t dare look down to check. Harrison hands were mere inches away.
Delectable by Mila West is full of smart politics, witty banter, and two characters who can’t help but be drawn to each other. I truly enjoyed every page of this book. I even found myself gitty with excitement at Harrison's sexiness. Catherine Rousseau is smart, beautiful, and a US Senator who has decided to run for President. Harrison Parker is the young, hot new Senator who has been working closely with her for the past six months. Through their controversies, he admits that he has feeling for the pretty Senator, although his past has brought him heartbreak. Catherine, on the other hand, has her own scars to deal with, and she’s fighting to overcome her fears if she wants to find love. This couple’s mirrored glances and heated debates definitely place their sexual tension in that deliciously dangerous zone. I loved how Harrison took care of Catherine and his admiration for her shone in the way he treated her and stood by her side. I really enjoyed the background and depth to these characters. Their back stories really captured them and made them relatable. For being my first political romance I enjoyed how smartly written it was and how electrifyingly sexy it turned out to be.
Delectable by Mila West is a fast-paced political romance with a dash of suspense. It follows Catherine Rousseau, an Army veteran turned U.S. Senator, and Harrison Parker, Catherine's Senate colleague and romantic interest.
Catherine served as an Army Judge Advocate General attorney and was wounded in an attack by a suicide bomber in Iraq. She bears the scars from that day and still carries shrapnel in her body. As a Senator, Catherine is part of a group proposing a Constitutional amendment that would grant federal voting rights to U.S. territories. In addition, Catherine is seriously considering running for President.
Harrison is a rookie Senator driven by justice and compassion. His Senate work puts him in close proximity with Catherine and they share a mutual attraction and admiration. Harrison has suffered heartbreak in the past that has kept him away from having a serious relationship again. That changes when Catherine comes into his life.
When the story begins, there's a pre-established sexual tension between the two of them that comes to fruition. However, since we don't see the entire buildup of their relationship, I felt that something was missing since the relationship isn't fully explored within the space of the story.
As for the pacing of the book, it moves along at a quick clip and makes for a fast read. There's a bit of suspense toward the end, along with a neatly wrapped-up ending.
Given the shorter length of the book, the relationship isn't as fully developed as I would have liked. But I enjoyed the strong heroine and the hero who is ready to support her and stand by her no matter what. All in all, it's a quick and interesting read.
I received a review copy of this book from the author.
