Track Plans for Modular Railroading and Their Design

Rate this book
To build a proper model railway you need to have a floor plan or at least track plan. If you are interested in modular railroading (as I am), you can see that the volume of modular track plans from Internet and books is somehow limited. So substantial part of this book is about my work, either designs or finished modules, with detailed description including their track plans, 3D visualizations, sketches (if necessary to draft more complex baseboards or suggest special module packaging) and of course photographs of finished modules. Beginning of the book contains couple of key recommendations worth to be considered when designing a module based on my experience. And at the end I share auxiliary things, which are not really modules, but they are very close to modular railroading and might be useful when using modules. Book contains module track plans from the simplest to quite complex ones. And the complexity or simplicity is not only the measure of the construction, but also of the train or module operation, evidencing that you do not need multilevel tracks nor dozens of turnouts to create something interesting for spectators, if even single track module contains for example good story behind or great surroundings. This is already a second edition of this book, bringing new chapter with couple of modules of my modular colleagues seen at meetings during this year, new photos about my new module I introduced at our recent annual meeting and minor updates to already presented plans or pictures.

Good text, images not clear

While the author makes some good points and has clear pictures, the track plan images are of such poor resolution as to be almost useless.
