She was the one that got away. The one time Adam couldn't finish the job. The one time his conscious got the better of him.
Now she's back and Adam has two options: Kill her or help her get the revenge she deserves.
No matter how convincing her arguments may be or how distracting he finds her, he was raised on one staunch principle that has kept him alive so far. Never trust a pretty face.
Mallory Crowe has lived in Michigan her whole life and has been in love with romance ever since she'd skip to the end of every novel, just to make sure the hero and heroine survived and ended up together. She lives with her husband and three dogs. When she's not writing, she's spending too much time in front of the TV, hiking, or working with various animal rescues.
So far, this is the best book by Mallory Crowe I've ever read!!
I was excited about this book since the first one from the Stolen Hearts Series (The Cocky Thief). Melody held my attention in that first one and I knew she was wilder and bolder then people gave her credit for!
In Beautiful Thief she is looking for revenge and for some settling, seeing that she is still struggling with her life, what she wants for her and her past of trying (unsuccessfully) being normal. And for that goal she needs the help from Adam - a moody, dangerous killer who was actually somehow a part of her list for revenge.
They don't trust each other at first, for obvious reasons, but they are obliged to rely on each other for survival, and that is when they start to see that their normality, even being so far away from what average people find normal, is even better and works for them.
Their feelings start to grow at the same time their enemies start getting closer and closer, and they have to hold hands to get out of a mess of a suicidal mission. They also count on her family and friends (or something close to what they can call "friends"), and that is just one of the reasons I love series: we get to see glimpses of them before and after their own stories...I love watching them developing!
It was a fast, sexy read and their chemistry is delicious! I hope we get to see more about Adam and Mel in the coming books, because I miss them already!
I received "The Beautiful Thief" as an ARC to review and give a honest review. Mallory has written another great book. I read this in one day, because I couldn't put it down. Needed to know what would happen next. Melody and Adam, AKA "Blondie" are the main characters. Melody was looking and going after the man who shot her mother and the men that were there, Blondie and Baldie. First, Melody found him at an event in Chicago, where his fellow security guys, were beating him up. She got him away from the men who were beating him up. Blondie got away when she took him to here hotel. Melody was able to get a finger print off a glass that he had used. Melody called for help and was able to find out who he was from his finger print. The hunt begins to find Adam again.
One of the most boring books I've ever had the misfortune to read.
The plot is paper-thin, the characters are clichés and nothing really happens on the thriller OR the romance front until we're about 80% done with the book. The rest is filler. What makes this worse is the author's very limited vocabulary. There are a lot of words and phrases that get repeated all the time. Often in the same paragraph.
On the plus side, despite being part of a series of books with an ongoing story-arc, this is a stand-alone novel that can be read without knowledge of the previous book. And it was for free on amazon kindle when I got it, so at least I didn't spend money on it.

REVIEW: THE BEAUTIFUL THIEF is the second installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary adult STOLEN HEARTS series. This is Melody Murray, and mercenary Adam Smith’s story line. THE BEAUTIFUL THIEF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: Following a theft that went horribly wrong, Melody, along with her sisters Jennifer and Toni vow revenge against the men who stole from the sisters something that can never be returned.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Melody and Adam) THE BEAUTIFUL THIEF follows Melody Murray on the hunt for the men responsible for destroying the Murray sisters’s lives. Adam Smith aka Blondie is one of the men present the day that Mallory witnessed the murder of someone close to her heart but a murder for which Adam was not directly responsible. What ensues is the building relationship between Melody and Adam, and the cross country journey of Melody and Adam as Melody seeks revenge for a murder and betrayal.
Adam Smith is a mercenary; a gun for hire whose first encounter with Melody ended with chaos and death. Melody Murray is a reluctant thief; a cautious thief who wants nothing to do with her family business but a thief seeking retribution for the murder of her mother; our heroine is determined to use Adam Smith to get what she wants. The relationship between Melody and Adam is quick to develop as our couple must work together toward a common goal. The $ex scenes are limited, seductive and intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There are a number of secondary and supporting characters including Melody’s sister Toni, and her partner in crime, former Chicago police officer Scott Hart; hired killer James Weston; the daughter of one of the men Melody is hoping to destroy –Willa Belli, and Jadon Belli, COO of Cordon Enterprises.
The world building focuses on revenge, retribution, family and love. Melody Murray is determined to avenge her mother’s death but too many distractions including a threat against Willa Belli; the interference of Melody’s ex-husband; a police warrant out for Melody’s arrest find our couple seeking refuge in out of the way places. There is a limited amount of trust between our leading couple including the fact that Melody was willing to kill the man with whom she is falling in love.
THE BEAUTIFUL THIEF is a story about revenge; about one woman’s determination for retribution for the murder of her mother; about one man’s penance to help the woman he could never forget. The premise is fast paced, entertaining and captivating; the characters are passionate and determined; the romance is sensual. THE BEAUTIFUL THIEF is an animated look at love on the run.
Oh my! I loved this book. You've done it again Mallory. A definite five-star read!
This begins a few weeks after the girls' mother was murdered at the end of book one. Melody is feeling really down because she is taking personal responsibility for her mother's death. Toni went by to check on Mel since she realized Mel would be troubled after witnessing her mother being shot in the head and killed.
Melody is the one they consider the weakest sister and she wants revenge on the man and his accomplice who killed their mother. She feels the need to do this alone because every time she calls her sisters for help they walk in and take over telling her to just stay at home and they will handle it. She doesn't like feeling she's not their equal but Jennifer and Toni have had a lot more experience then Mel. For a while Mel was married and was doing her best to live a normal life...unsuccessfully...with a cheating, lying husband!
When she fakes her way into an event that could bring her the information she needs to find, lo and behold she runs into Blondie, aka Adam Smith, who was in on her earlier kidnapping when her mother was killed...and Blondie was really hot. She got him out of a bad situation that he may not have lived through. She practically drags him back to her hotel room and while she is trying to care for him, so badly beaten, he drugs her and leaves.
She is determined to find him so he can give her the name of the killer since he was involved. Track him down she does and he agrees to help her. They don't tell each other but since the kidnapping and murder she had been thinking of him a lot and he has her as well. So what happens when a beautiful spitfire set on revenge and a handsome devil-may-care security expert go on a manhunt for a killer and his assistant? Whoa...two intimate scenes and they were pretty sizzling. What made them so special was this couple had truly fallen for each other.
I highly recommend this book as well as the series. You will want to read these in order for a better understanding of all the players. Such a great book with excellent writing and watching these two come into their own.
This is the second book in the "Stolen Hearts" series. Although it could be read as a standalone, I'd recommend reading this series in order to have better understanding of events and characters. Mallory Crowe tells the story in her usual easy-to-read and passionate style. This tale is emotional, it has suspense and adventure, lust and romance. Fabulous read!
This book is better than the first. Fast paced with a clear plot and both hero and heroine were attractive, likeable characters. I finished this in one day.
So I read this book not realizing it was a series. The book started out very slow for me. It took me longer to read this book. Didn't quite understand the storyline at first. So as I was reading not really sure if I was enjoying it or not, I continue to read. I started enjoying the characters and getting more into the book. So towards the end it got more interesting. So I'll say that maybe if I would have started a the beginning, this would have been much better. Thanks
ARC for honest review with no compensation, Mallory Crowe sure knows how to bring you in right from the start and doesn’t let up until the very last word…..awesome read! ! ! Although this is the 2nd book in the series it can be read as a standalone, but reading the 1st book gives you more background into the story line and sets you up for the next book in the series…
Melody who has been kidnapped, survives a death threat only to watch her mother be murdered before her very eyes is out looking for revenge on the people who did this to her family. After she is rescued she need to find her captors “Blondie and Baldie”, she knows that if she find “Blondie” she can then find “Baldie” and get her revenge for killing her mother….. She shows up at a party and finds “Blondie” there doing security, when she finally tracks him down, he is being beaten by three other security guys, so she does what she needs to do to save him so he can help her. “Blondie” get away from her after he slips a mickey in the water so she tracks him down again from his fingerprints on the glass to Louisiana and finds his name to be Adam Smith.
“Blondie” aka Adam Smith who has never forgotten the girl he left get away, knows he has to either kill Melody or works with her in order to keep her safe from the people who are out to kill her. When she shows up in Louisiana, the tensions between the two run high and after some discussion he decides that he needs to help her get her revenge and to keep her safe as the same time because he knows in his heart that the right thing to do…so will these two be able to clear the air between them and get the revenge or will it just have to wait for another time?????
A story of revenge, suspense, intrigue, running from the law, and hot and heavy romance all rolled into this story with still a lot of questions to be answered…hopefully in the next book.
I enjoyed this second book in the Stolen Hearts series better than the first one. If you haven't read Cocky Thief yet, I strongly suggest reading it before this one because you'll have a better understanding of character relationships and situations that are referenced in this story. This book picks up a few weeks after the last book ends, and find our heroine, Melody, is still trying to face life after a traumatic event in the last book (the author tells you up front, but I don't want to spoil anything). As the title alludes, Melody is an former con-woman, along with her sisters and mom. She got caught up in one last con in the last book, and she's seeking revenge on the people who hurt her family.
The only lead she has is the "bad guy" who let her get away, but she doesn't even know his name. She eventually devises a plan, finds Adam, and offers him a deal if he helps her track down the person so she can exact her revenge. Melody doesn't totally trust that Adam might not turn on her, and Adam doesn't totally trust that Melody could kill him since he was one of the bad guys that had previously held her captive. In spite of their trust issues, both feel a strong attraction to one another, yet, because of the trust issues, they continue to fight growing feelings.
The author was able to do a better job with character development in this story as there weren't as many peripheral characters surrounding our Hero and heroine. With that said, more puzzle pieces on the mystery that began in the first book, slide into place. There are still unexplained character relationships from the first story, that we glimpse in this one, but have yet to be totally explained, which is why I gave this story 4 stars. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse relationship of Melody and Adam, and felt more satisfied at the end of this book than the first.
Excellent addition to the Stolen Hearts Series! Melody Murray's upbringing was unconventional, to say the least. Raised to be a con artist and thief, she tried living a "normal" life but it didn't work out and found herself drawn back into the game by her mother, Isobel, who died during a robbery gone wrong (see book one, The Cocky Thief). In book two Beautiful Thief, Melody, who is hellbent on revenge, makes a deal with Adam Smith, one of the bad guys involved in her mother's death. She needs his help to find the person who pulled the trigger. She knows she shouldn't trust him but can't fight her attraction to him. Adam is not a nice man but he was drawn to Melody from the first and the same instinct that made him risk it all to save her before is driving him to do everything in his power to protect her now. He saved her once. Can he do it again?
Mallory Crowe is one of my favorite authors. She excels at writing romantic suspense with strong characters and exciting stories. The intricately woven plot ties each book in the series together so it is definitely best to read book one first. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I received a free copy of this book but voluntarily reviewed it.
This book is the second book in Mallory’s Crowe’s “The Stolen Hearts” series. Although you can read this before the first book, you will enjoy this story better if you read The Cocky Thief first. That is because the basis for the major theme in this book is based on something that happened in the first book. Also, all of the main characters from the first book play major roles in this book. Plus, the main characters, Melody “Mel” and Adam “Blondie” have a past from Book one that is vital to understanding events in The Beautiful Thief.
I loved this book! I, actually cannot say too much about the plot without giving spoilers from both of the books. However, I can definitely say that the plots in both book aresuspenseful, scary and will keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
The author wrote three-dimensional characters who have great depth and are extremely human in their character traits. Melody is a special woman who is all “woman” in spite of her skillful abilities to shoot guns and take down men larger than she is. She is smart enough to fear many of the situations that she becomes in. However, she is adventurous enough and courageous enough to persevere anyway.
Adam starts out as an unlikeable character in the first book even though his face often betrays his feelings toward Mel. When we first meet him in this second story, he still acts as this same uncaring and emotionless thug. But, it is obvious that he will change because of Melody. Unfortunately, we only learn a little bit about Adam’s past and present life, so I am hoping that maybe the third book will reveal more about this mysterious man.
This is a fantastic, fast-reading book that I highly recommend! I am looking forward to the next book in this seri
Warning: Although this book focuses on another sister it is part two in a series, events and people are mentioned from the first book, with little explanation and you won't get the best from this book without reading it first. This was another well written book by Ms Crowe. Adam is a thug and a killer and his only redeeming feature is that he is attracted (and later cares about) Mel. Mel is an ex-conwoman who saw her mother murdered in front of her eyes and is prepared to get in bed with the devil himself if she can get her revenge on the persons responsible. I wasn't sure how I felt about this novel as I'm not into mafia type romances. You never get to find out Adam's back story except that it is obviously dark and he lives out in the backwaters because in the cities there are 'Too many people who wanted him dead'. I would have preferred it if he had been some kind of undercover agent and had more morals but that is a personal preference - even criminals have a love life! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
A well written, fast paced and suspenseful romance, The Beautiful Thief was action through and through. Volume 2 in the Stolen Hearts series follows on from The Cocky Thief, following the same hard core criminals and those seeking revenge. Melody has survived kidnapping and a threat of death, only to see her mother murdered before her eyes. The thug who was responsible for her survival warns her to stay away, but since her divorce Melody has grown a back bone and decides to go after the perpetrators of the crimes against her family. As much as she hates him, Melody needs Adam to find her mother's murderer and although she resists it, sparks do fly. I personally found that there were a number of unanswered questions regarding Adam and his background. The significance of the item Melody stole was also left unexplained, but it could be that the reasons will surface in the next episode of this family saga. The Beautiful Thief is an exciting read and I did enjoy it. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Great Story. I am really enjoying this series. I love a good thief romance book.
Melody is going to get her revenge! In the meantime she is going to fall in love. I really liked Adam and Melody together. They were great. They had good chemistry and there is a hot and steamy sex scene, nicely written. These stories are more about story and less about the sex, bonus!
As for the story line and plot it was good. Melody wanted her revenge and Adam was willing to help. We get to know this couple as they make their plans to get revenge and run into a few bumps along the way. The story and writing flowed very well and it was an easy enjoyable read.
I plan on reading the next book in the series, I already bought it. Sad I have to wait until August for the 4th book but I did pre-order it!
This is the 2nd book in Mallory Crowe's Stolen Hearts series. This can be read as a standalone but it does have characters from the 1st book. This book is about Melanie and Adam or "Blondie" as she has nicknamed him from the last book. This story basically picks up where the last book ended. There is a lot of build up before we get to see some "heat" but it is definitely in this book! There's suspense, a few twists, (I did get surprised at one point), and so on. I don't want to give anything away, you've just got to read it! I love reading Mallory's books and I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is a voluntary honest review.
This is the second book in this series. It is kind of a standalone but it would be better to read the first book before this. There are hints but if you haven't read it I think there will be gaps.
Melody's mom was murdered and she blames three men - Baldie who pulled the trigger, Stranger who Baldie worked for, and Blondie who kept her from going to her mom. Blondie also saved her and set her free.
She tracks Blondie down and he agrees to help her track Baldie down and kill him. Along the way, they develop feelings for each other. This book has an HEA for the two of them but there's more to the story for other characters. They get their stories told in other books in the series.
Received an ARC for review. As always Ms. Mallory hit the nail on the head. I loved this book. Melody wants revenge on 3 people. The man that ordered her mother's murder, the man that did the actual killing and the man that held her back. Adam is the man that can help her get her revenge BUT he is the man that held her back. Melody asks Adam for his help. He agrees but on one condition, when he gets her the shot she must take it or he will get her. Adam gets Melody her shot, but things do not always go as planned. Wonderful job Ms. Mallory. Can not wait for the next installment of this series.
This book started a bit slow.. But, as the pace picks up so does the intrigue.I've never read a book about a family of criminals .Melody tried hard to have a normal life until her ex Ben was caught cheating. Then, her own mother gets killed right before the wedding..And if you don't think that's enough,Melody decides to get revenge on her own..She tracks down one of the men that had held her hostage, after her own mother's death.I cannot believe they fall in love..But he's hot and they do..With a little help from her sister, she gets the bad guy and gets her name cleared..Nice read..
******I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Review Copy of this book****** I thought the Cocky Thief was good but this one was outstanding with precision writing where the words flowed perfectly and amazing supporting characters. It picked right up where Cocky Thief ended with Melody Murray didn't wanted any part of her family traits; however, after dealing the ordeal she saw/endured in the Cocky Thief, she had a change of heart. I especially loved Blondie ( Adam Smith), who was dark, broody and dangerous yet he displayed courage, patience and expertise while dealing with Melody's carelessness. The story consists of suspense, betrayal and violence but it was amazing how the writer laid down the groundwork sketching every detail. I have to admit Melody was a complete pain in the a** at times with always getting in trouble but Blondie was there to correct her mistakes. It's much much more to this story that I'm leaving out so I truly recommend this one to be grab. An astonishing series that keeps getting better and better.
WOW! Ms. Crowe did it again, this is the second book in The Stolen Hearts series and it is as good or better than the first. If you love books with intrigue, twists, and great sexual chemistry you will love this book. It grabs you from the start and keeps you hanging on tight for the ride. Furthermore the storyline and character development make this a book you won't soon forget, definitely worth the read.
Yep, read it in one day (Saturday, to be fair), and liked it!
Mel is what her name suggests - a melody, but a sweet, tinkling, delicate kind of sound underlied by a strong beat. She starts sweet and reserved, but determination to avenge her mother brings out her stubborn, reckless, strong and lucky side. The book is fast-paced and surprising, and also well written.
I loved this story of Mallory and Adam. I liked this book so much that I could not put it down until I was finished. This a great book with a lot of twists and turns pulling you into the story. I read the story as an ARC and I would highly recommend it to everyone who likes a good adventure with a little romance.
I got this book free on Amazon. It is a cute funny book-the characters are just that....characters. what a fun family!! Mine is solo boring. It seemed that she went pretty fast from hate to love-but who am I to judge. The story is fast paced and it reads really well as a stand alone. I would recommend his book.
Book 2 in series, takes us on the journey of sister Mel. After her incident in book 1 this relates all to her and Adam. All characters from book 1 get mentioned, though not much interaction. This was a slight step up from book 1 for me. Will continue to read series to see where it all goes.
I loved this book. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Melody and Adam and the plot was really engrossing. Because Melody is first introduced in the Cocky Thief, her character is well developed and you feel for her motives. By far the best book by Mallory Crowe I've read to date.
This is the second book in the series and it would help to read the first book first to know the characters and their background story. I thought the first book was more exciting and interesting, and more fast paced. The second book was a bit slower paced for me, but rather enjoyable too.
Loved it. Melody and Adam (Blondie) are perfectly matched. Loved seeing the two of them verbally spar as they hunt down the man responsible for murdering Melody and her sisters' mother. Romance is off the chart and action is non ending.
