Three years after orchestrating the demise of her baby's daddy and his crew, Tukey Tosh resurfaces with the opening of No Draws- a club that sells everything from sex to Ex. In an attempt to conquer Kansas City's Ex industry, Tukey uses money, sex and blackmail to get In Cahootz with Police Sergeant Cody Brown. Together they form a murderous, robbing Drug Task Force- The D-Unit- whose objective is to attack rival dealers on her command. With the cops and hustlers on the same side, who could stop them?
I did like this book but not as much as the first one (Hoodwinked). I would have liked it more if it had been a book on it's own.Hoodwinked didn't need a sequel. The author should have just let it be in my opinion. I must say that I know REAL Jamaicans who don't use "mon" in every sentence like the author did and it was quite annoying. Obviously he didn't do much research on patois. Anywho, after coming out on top after being hurt by her boyfriend Keith, Tukey now turns into a stone cold hustler in the streets. She's hated and respected by the male hustlers. She stops at nothing to be the biggest Ex pusher around, but this time she may have gone too far..involving the police can get messy.
This was a great follow up to Hoodwinked. I love how the author keeps you guessing about who will be wiped out and who will be betrayed. I felt some sympathy for Tukey, but at the same time, she was turning into a monster as well. At any rate, I enjoyed the entire ride. Never a dull moment. Good read.
Okay, I liked this. I fell for Tukey Tosh in Hoodwinked and her presence alone made this worthwhile for me. I actually finished this yesterday so I won't be able to really go into as much detail as I wish and as I had planned on when I was actively reading it. It seems like there is another one coming even though Mr. carter effectively ended things at the end of this one. You just never know and if there is another I'll be reading it. In this one, it started where the Hoodwinked left off- Tukey is running everything she can get her hands on after Keith's "suicide". Tukey isn't happy (of course) and wants more and more and then some more. Tukey is with Anitra and messing around on here on the side (of course) and there is the normal drama with that. I do have to admit- this is about an UNrealistic as a book can get. I don't care whar state we're talking about- no one can get something "on" a police Captain, walk in, demand a task force be made, with SPECIFIC cops in it, already with a SPECIFIC name, and who will only go get who YOU say to go get, Nuh-uh. Not happening. Show me the state because I want to make sure I never enter it. Any state with one person with that much power I'm leaving alone. If you can get past that, which I obviously did, the story is good. I like Carter's characters a lot. Oh! I do have to agree with Keyona also- the accent has to get toned down. I think Carter is locked up with some wanna-be Jamaicans and they must really go strong on the accent. No one I know, Jamaican or otherwise talked that way.

I liked this book. I've read others reviews on this book and seen that others thought that it shouldn't have been a part 2 to Hoodwinked I have to disagree on that because now I got to see what Tukey did in In Cahootz after doing all of that setting up in Hoodwinked. If I read this book first before Hoodwinked I would of been lose to who Keith was so yeah I say this need to be a part 2.
In Cahootz is what this book is about. Tukey the used to be girl of Keith the well known drug dealer that end up shooting his self. But, Tukey got him to that point. So Tukey takes all his money and end up starting her own drug ring.
She had her cousins Tiki, Peko and her girl Anitra and her best friend that she knew from jail Shanti. They had it made but, Tukey wanted so much more so she got in cahootz with cops braking up there home so she can get in with Cody and his police friends. She then got the captain involved using blackmail.
But, the money got to Cody head and he wanted more and Tukey wasn't giving him more so Cody took off on his own and that started them having drama with each other. But, internal affairs was onto Cody and Tukey and the captain had to set up something to keep her butt of of the drama that she also caused.
At the end I was so suprised but, overall this was a great book. Drama from the start to the finish. In Cahootz a great book.
While it's true that I've been a Quentin Carter fan from the doors, he still proceeded to out due himself with his latest novel. Tukey Tosh blasted into the scenes of this book with the force of a rocket. And as if she wasn't enough, he provided us with a fresh storyline to keep us wanting more. I tried several times to place this book down to work on my own novel, to no avail. If you read Hoodwinked, it is both fair and unfair to say that "In Cahootz" stands alone. For those of you who are considering purchasing this book due yourself a favor and buy it today and hurry up and read it !!!!
