The reclusive Ian barely participates in life, only doing so when his powers demand that he use them or pay the consequences. It seems that there's not a single person on this planet who doesn't want something from him, but the pain and suffering of others is nearly unbearable at times, leaving him no choice but to act.
That is, until Wink unwittingly walks into his life, completely unaware that she's stepped straight into the dragon's den. Wink is just trying to get home after a long day of work. Her plans for the evening do not include stumbling upon a man with blood on his hands hovering over a dead woman in her hallway.
There are three things that someone in Wink's position should've done in that instance.
Slowly back away from the hot, bearded killer and run the other way. Call the cops. Not come back until the scene was safe. Instead, she stops, takes a picture - drawing the man's attention to her - and then takes off at the speed of a fat, blind, and possibly intoxicated penguin.
Ian tries to let her go, but the moment that she runs, every single one of his predatory instincts surge to the surface and the hunt is on. Ian always catches his prey, this time is no different. What is different is that, for the first time in his life, he is consumed with the need to keep his catch.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
I think Ian was my favorite dragon rider yet! He was humble and kind, although he didn't see himself this way. He could be pretty abrupt and blunt in both his behavior and actions, however, he had the best of intentions and I only wish people knew that. I was so grateful to find that Wink saw him for who he really was. Their relationship grew organically and I was amazed at how smooth it was. With LLV's classic flair for humor mixed with romance, this story turned out to be the best of the bunch.
I have three moods: 1. What the fuck? 2. Are you fucking kidding me? 3. Fuck this. - Wink’s secret thoughts
What we get: 🔥 DRAGONS 🔥 a whole slew of new powers to learn about. Ian had incredible healing powers, meaning he could heal just about any physical hurt and take the pain onto himself. He could also see DNA, intuit thoughts, and read a situation with startling clarity 🔥 hot sex. I swear, this series has some insanely intense chemistry between its characters and I've loved every single moment of each scene 🔥 a power show. Watching the characters exhibit their talents was such a thrill. From Nikolai creating an illusion to Ian accurately reading Keifer's twins to their shows of strength and perseverance, I was entertained and intrigued. I just want MORE!!
This story only got more and more complex and I'm extremely disappointed to find out that there are no more books in this series. I don't feel like it got the proper closure or resolution. Ian found his long lost sister, Wink's best friend was secretly a dragon rider, and the Purists are still out there. Is there a petition I can sign or create to get this author to pick this series back up? I NEED this series to continue!!
Oh, my Dragon, the third installment of Lani Lynn Vale’s amazing PNR series, I Like Big Dragons, tells us the story of Ian, the broodiest and most reclusive of the dragon riders, and Wink, a struggling artist.
Let’s just say they had a hell of a first meeting, when she encounters the dark and handsome stranger over her dead neighbor’s body! Well, even in that particular situation, she couldn’t help but notice him, lol!
This man was gorgeous. I’m talking so fucking handsome that it hurt to look at him for too long. And his eyes. God, they were practically sucking me into his soul!
What she has no idea is that she isn’t that much of a stranger to him – and here resided my biggest hung up with their story, I understood his reasoning to stay away from her, but it lasted far too long, specially from the moment he realized she was his mate, that being say, that is off page and he was indeed a broken man with a hurt soul since his childhood. Since the very first book in the series I was drawn to his quiet and sad persona, and here we got to see deep within his mind, why he was the way he was.
It felt wrong, like my heart hurt, and I didn’t want anything to do with that. When the heart became involved, things never worked out right.
So, he learn very young to try to distance himself from others, specially the ones he loved, in a way to protect them, and deep down, himself too. But when he was caught of guard and had to touch Wink, therefore cementing their connection as mates, he had no chance but let go of that hurt and fear, and let himself feel. And Wink was SO awesome, because she was attracted to him because of his personality, not despite of it.
“You damn well know exactly what I want,” she said. “I want you to fuck me. If I wanted slow and sweet, I would’ve found some other man. I know you don’t do slow and sweet.”
Ok, enough of the darker subject – and he wasn’t just dark, as he reveals very early on – because this story is so much more then that. As per Lani’s fashion, she gave us a tone of hilarious moments, a lot with the kickass secondary characters,
“What’d you name her?” Blythe asked, a sleeping baby against her chest. “Creepy.” “That’s not too bad,” Keifer mumbled. “Mine’s named ‘Little Fucker’.”
And some explosively HOT sex scenes! Ian really is the perfect example that the quiet ones really are the worst, in the best possible way, that is. Check out this epic quote, it’s the written proof of how deliciously naughty he was!
“You want me?” I asked her. “I want your mouth.” “Where?” I persisted. “On me.” She widened her legs, letting me see the wetness between her legs. It was so copious that it slickened her thighs. “Come ride my beard then, baby.” I continued to work my cock, slower now than I had been doing it before. She smiled at me timidly, her bravado fading. “Now,” I ordered. “Use my beard like your own personal saddle.”
I really need to emphasize their sexual attraction, and their bedroom talk, because I feel that I should warn all of you so you are truly ready for this level of heat. I loved every delicious word out of his mouth!
“Oh darn,” she whispered brokenly. “I’m going to fucking hell.” I laughed at her succulent words. “There’s going to be fucking, but I doubt hell will be involved unless too many orgasms is your version of hell.”
Oh, My Dragon, like LLV’s other books is a fast pace, well written, sensible and passionate story, in this incredibly thought out paranormal universe, that hooks you from the start and you devour in one sitting, specially for a Lani Lynn Vale addict, like yours truly. It was so good to revisit some the characters of the previous books as well as see some of the upcoming ones – at least I hope so! -, because I can’t wait to read Jean Luc ( I’m a sucker for a good accent) and Mattie’s story! <3 <3 <3 <3
“I love you,” I told her. “All of you.” (…) “I love you,” she whispered.

I tend to prefer my romances be rooted in real life, and PNR isn’t what I typically read. I'll admit it, I'm not really a fan of them, but I am, however, a fan of Lani Lynn Vale’s. I'll be honest, I was nervous starting the first book, so it was a very pleasant surprise when shortly into I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie that I found myself hooked. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this series as much as I have, but I can also admit when I was wrong, and I was definitely wrong here. Once I opened my mind to it, I realized quickly that I had stumbled upon something special in Vale's I Like Big Dragons series.
Oh, My Dragon is the third and final story in this trilogy. Ian was the most mysterious and reclusive of all the dragon riders, and I’ve been dying for is story since he was introduced in the first book. His powers are immense and varied, and they often overwhelmed him with the urgent need to use them, even when he’d rather not. He gives off a very unapproachable vibe, even to his fellow dragon riders, but all of that begins to change when he meets his mate, Wink. She may have ran from him at first, but that stopped as soon as she felt the powerful connection between them. She was strong and she had no problem going toe-to-toe with him. Both of the previous books were leading to this book, and the suspenseful plot arc of that Vale wove through all three books in this trilogy concludes here.
Everything readers love about Lani Lynn Vale’s books is here in Oh, My Dragon. Between Ian’s dry sense of humor, Wink’s sassing him off and the two of them were bicker-bantering back and forth, this sweet and very steamy love story was jam packed with Vale’s sense of humor. Ian was exactly the type of hero Vale’s readers have come to expect from her, it’s just that he sometimes rode a dragon in addition to a motorcycle. I really loved this whole series, and this was an exciting, witty and sexy end to it. Lani Lynn Vale’s Oh, My Dragon gets five smooches from me!
4 1/2 stars I loved this book and this entire series, so it seems that I have found a new author I am in love with. Everything I have read so far from Lani Lynn Vale I have quickly fallen in love with and been sucked into the story and the world she created. In this series (and like the previous series I read from this author I'm going to review the three books in a lump sum because right after each book I couldn't wait to review it because I had to read it right now). We get a nice new twist on PR. I haven't read a series like this before but thats another reason I loved it so much.
The heroes in each book are dragon riders and once they bond with a dragon they get powers. When a dragon rider touches his other half it starts the mating and neither can deny each other and they don't want to. They each need the other to live but also can't imagine being with anyone else. We also see their enemies who are out to destroy all Dragon rides and stop the prophecy that the King (hero from book 1) has set into motion.
I loved each book and each book we get more and more of the story and pieces fall together. I think this is only supposed to be 3 books but I really, really hope that isn't the case because there are tons of side characters in these 3 books that I want books for badly. And storylines we have been given small bits of but they aren't finished. I loved all the characters in this series from main o side characters the author did a great job creating these characters.
Star Ratings: Heroine (Wink): 31yrs old Hero (Ian): 36yrs old Plot: 4/5 Grovel: none Cheating: none HEA: happy for now Triggers: none
Average score: 4/5
Best Line: ““Hey!” she snapped. “That’s book abuse!””
Worst Line: “Sometimes I purposefully made my place dirtier just to see her work a little bit harder than normal.”
Personal Review: Another good romance in this series with a really engaging couple.
Random Ramblings •I just love the little bits at the beginning of each chapter because they speak the truth! •She never told him her name •Farrow is a little bitch •The reunion had me in tears •Wow, did not see that twist coming
The person that I am starting to dislike with each book is King Keifer. He is such an as at times.
Anyway, the series is coming together quite nicely. More and more info is coming to light about the inhabitants of the world. Sadly, this was published in 2017 and left more questions with no answers on the horizon.
I was hoping that this was going to wrap up the series in some way once I saw the publication date, but alas I was wrong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The best of the three books with much more interesting and developed characters (Ian was as good as I had imagined him) and a story that was starting to gain depth ...
Too bad there is no sequel (especially with Jean-Luc) because we still have a lot of unanswered questions !
In short, a last book of a series that I do not recommend : too "rough draft" ! But don't let these books distract you from the author's other books that are a thousand times better !
The Good: has continue to be intrigued with the ‘verse.
The Bad: I just wish the way the information about that ‘verse didn’t feel so clunky in its delivery. Also, this has what amounts to a miracle pregnancy in it, which is among my least favorite tropes. The romance was only so-so.
The Bottom Line: it’s only ok. I’m not saying I wouldn’t read the next, but not in rush to do so. But if you love this author and PNR, maybe it’ll work for you better than it did for me.
I know that I've repeated this time after time, and guess what? Going to again, as I can't say it enough, Lani Lynn Vale is simply BRILLIANT, with such a talented writing style that whatever she writes, I absolutely could not LOVE LOVE or LOVE more! And maybe that doesn't seem like a big deal, but I've stayed away from all other books about dragons my whole life, and yet this series, I'm so addicted to, that it even shocks me. And I'm not ashamed to say that I CANNOT GET ENOUGH! Each book is about a different couple, but all of them are full of clues that are teasingly thrown out which make me crazy as all my questions aren't answered by any means yet. I have been intrigued by Ian since the beginning, so this story about him had me all kinds of excited. And what a fantastically tortured soul he is, but his mate, Wink, is perfect for him. On top of his layers being peeled back, the twists and turns brought out the loud f-bomb dropping moments in my house, while the action packed storyline kept my heart racing. And I can't forget to mention the off the charts steamy sexy scene goodness that's panty destroying HOT HOT HOT! Well placed humor kept me laughing hard, as the story is full of highly entertaining and colorful dragon riders and their mates. Not to mention, the snarky and witty dragons themselves. I could go on and on with my fan girl gushing, but instead, I'll just say check the super addictive I Like Big Dragons series out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Ian’s story is the one I’ve been waiting for…primarily because Lani Lynn Vale has kept his character quite mysterious. He’s isolated himself from the rest of the dragon riders, and despite how crucial Ian’s been in saving the mates of his fellow riders, he’s still perceived as an outsider…not quite belonging anywhere, preferring to be by himself, if only not to have to deal with each and everyone’s pasts with one simple touch.
But like all other dragon riders, Ian has a pre-destined mate, and even though he’s known for some time who that person is, he’s kept his distance, partially because of his solitary lifestyle but also because the danger and chaos that comes with being a dragon rider’s mate isn’t something he wants to put her through…too bad Wink makes it impossible for Ian to stay away from her not only because he’s incredibly drawn to her but also because Wink unknowingly places herself in a dangerous situation - one that forces Ian to come to her aid and sets their bond in motion, allowing Wink to enter a world much different than the one she’s only ever known.
I love that as Wink is being educated about the life of a dragon rider, readers learn right along with her, and as Ian’s powers become hers, we see just how strong and perceptive she is and how she complements Ian in all of the best ways, figuring out why he is the way he is and helping him to realize that his life doesn’t have to be as lonely as he made it because when he really looks at his life, he’ll see that he’s never truly been alone…
New insights are gained in Ian and Wink's story, not just about the dragon riders' enemies but also about other powers that can help just as easily as they can harm. And while it's unclear if there will be more stories in this fictional dragon world, I, for one, still have many questions that need to be answered and am very intrigued by Jean Luc and his abilities as well as what will happen to Keifer and Nicolai as well as their mates.
I adore the world Lani Lynn Vale creates in her I Like Big Dragons series, and while paranormal elements are a huge part of what makes this series so intriguing, the close relationships that the characters have as well as the conflicts and issues that they face, outside of the supernatural ones, are relatable enough to find a bit of common ground between the characters and Vale’s readers.
4.5 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
This has to be my favorite in the I like big Dragons series , loved everything about it the story , characters , relationships , the headings of the chapters always make me laugh and the SEX lets not forget about the hot sex scenes . If you haven't read the first two books in the series I would highly suggest that you do even though this is a standalone you will enjoy this even more . I always found Ian's character intriguing and mysterious was so happy his book was going to be the next , he was awesome ,very alpha stalkish , dirty talker , very selfless , and surprisingly funny as was his dragon . Loved Wink ( cool name by the way ) like all Lani Lynn Vale books her heroins are always relatable and freaking hilarious . They made the perfect couple super steamy , lots of chemistry , protectiveness , funny and really made for one another . It was great to see couples from past books and were they are at and can't wait for Jean Lucs story you get to see a lot more of his character in this one , one person that has always annoyed me was Farrow such a turd but if anyone can make me like a character after being a major Dbag it would be this amazing author . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero = 10 heroine = 10 secondary characters = 10 Chemistry = 10 steam = 10 romance = 10 humor = 10 darkness level = 4 enjoyment = 10 story line = 10 character development = 10 pacing = 10 POV= dual ending = HEA cover = 10 stars = 5 author = 10 would I recommend this book = yes would I re read this book = yes would I read future books by this author = yes
This H actually was attracted to the h previously and has known for I believe a year that she's his mate. He actually has her working for him cleaning his house and has avoided touching her to actually instigate the mating because he doesn't think he's good enough for her Things get very convoluted with this one and again major plot points are dropped just to facilitate the next in the series🙄 Again the sperm of these men knows no bounds as the H is able to impregnate the h even though he had a vasectomy and we were actually led to believe that the baby might be by OM whom she had a ONS with but who turned out to be a bad guy....I mean it was literally dropped on the reader and explained away as a miracle man....they didn't know how so I don't know how😂 Lots of additional info just dumped in at the end and of course we get the "we'll discuss it in the morning" which we've gotten throughout this series just to facilitate the next book
If you don't take these books too seriously it's entertaining enough to keep you hooked
No cheating The pregnancy thing I'm taking just as it was delivered because if I think about it.... Ain't no way😂 H has been celibate a year h had been with 3 guys No cheating I won't call it om drama though her previous ons turned out to be the bad guy
Side note how come the bad guy never mentioned hooking up with the h? One would think he'd be all well I fucked your bitch 👀 things are just mentioned and left hanging all over this series I tell ya
Dammit... These dragon books go by too quickly! I LOVE this series to pieces!! I can't quite decide if Ian edges out Keifer (the Hero of book one) but he's right up there with him, for sure.
Ian & Wink were great together. You could feel their chemistry straight through the kindle screen; not just the physical kind but the emotional one too. It was so genuine & playful & that sizzle factor... Boy howdy, it was panty-melting!
LOVED all of the surprises in this one! We got background on Jean Luc & his family, discovered a special connection between Mattie, Wink & Ian, more dragons came out to play, more special powers came to light (sorry, Keifer... you're gonna be a busy daddy) & we got to learn more about Ian's (& now Wink's) powers, which was so frakin' cool. (They'd be a pain to have sometimes but the good definitely outweighs the bad, as far as I'm concerned!)
As for Farrow... Ugh. That little douche brother of Keifer & Nikolai is getting on my last nerve. I can already smell the heartbreak that his mate will go through when they finally cross each other's paths. Hopefully, the other mates will be there for her & help her put Farrow in his place & kick Macy to the curb! Then, the f*cking his brains out thing can commence. #AGirlCanDream
Cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! My fingers are crossed that it'll be Jean Luc & Mattie's book!! :)
Oh My Dragon by Lani Lynn Vale is the third installment in the I Like Big Dragons Series. Let me tell you this is my absolute favorite book in this series. Oh My Dragon can be read as stand-alone, but for better understanding you should read: I like big Dragons and cannot lie- book one and Dragons need love too, book two- first. Wink wants to be a photographer fulltime. But times are bad and she has to make ends with other jobs. She stunmbles over a dead body and now she is in danger herself. And there is Liam Ian McHugh, dragon rider, near hermit and empath. He can´t stand to be in human companion. Meet old friends, the couples from previous books, new acquaintances and powerful enemies. One enemy in special is a great danger to Wink. There is scorching hot sex and twists and turns I never had expected. Oh, My Dragon is my favorite book in this series. There is less violence- don´t get me wrong there IS violence, and more feelings and empathy. I could feel the characters emotions in the words. I laughed, I cried and I suffered with them. I love Lani Lynn Vale´s writing and can´t wait till the next installment! 5 Stars and Thank you Lani Lynn Vale!
Again this book was ok. I liked that Ian, who we've been warned about in previous ones, was at the center. He isn't the monster that the others make him out to be. Wink came off as a ditz to me, but in a good way. She seemed to be able to make Ian stop and not be so broody. The two of them got caught up in the larger arc with others going after the dragons and riders. They managed to find some good/bad things.
OMG, this is o e of my very favorite of her series!
LLV does it again! Stupendously! This series has become one of my absolute favorite. I literally lose sleep when a new one comes out. The plot twists and new characters that are revealed in each book are fabulous. I truly look forward to each new book. Getting to know Ian, makes me appreciate LLV's imagination all the more. This book made me wake up in the middle of the night just to finish it. LOVED IT SO FREAKING MUCH!
I think this series is in my heart more than Lani's MC guys and that is saying a lot! I love the connections between the mates, the way the story is written and the dragons....I freaking love the dragons!
- "girls don't get magic powers unless they're mated to a dragon rider" - maté's automatically pick up any magic their mate has - the magic is too much and doesn't leave much for weakness
I enjoyed this story! Why hasn't the author continued the series, writing about the other dragon riders and their mates? What happens with Farrow and Macy & Jean Luc and Mattie?
I wish I would have DNFd. Story is incongruous and jumps around. Shy's away from using certain sexy words and names for parts of body. Immature writing.
Oh, My Dragon is book 3 in the series and while it focuses on a different couple, I really think you need to read them in order. Wink, the heroine, is a cute character (despite her utterly dumb name). She mistakes Ian for a killer and begins to run from the scene when he stops her. Their initial touch starts the mating. Of course, Wink has no idea what is going on or why she has a new tattoo that she doesn't ever remember getting.
Ian is a side character in the previous 2 books and is seen as dangerous and brooding. Getting to see Ian fall in love was really enjoyable. His backstory is one to pull on your heart strings for sure, so it made it all the more sweet to see him find love with Wink. However, you get plenty of humor too. I think what I always enjoy about Vale's books is that there is lots of slapstick type comedy in them so nothing gets TOO heavy. Also, the sex between these two is probably the hottest of all 3 stories. Holy Moly!
Pharaoh becomes a key player in this book. He has always been a narcissistic pain in the ass, but his role in the plot to Oh, My Dragon brings more depth to his character.
As usually, Mason Lloyd and Kendall Taylor do a great job. I was not thrilled with the accent for Jean Luc though....I'm hoping if that character gets his own book the accent will be better.
POV: dual 1st Tears: no Trope: fated mates Triggers: Series/Standalone: series Cliffhanger: HEA:
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, dragons, suspense, and heartbreak.
Before reading this story please read the below books first I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie (I Like Big Dragons #1) Dragons Need Love, Too (I Like Big Dragons #2)
This is Wink and Ian’s story. Ian is a healer. When he heals, he take in the pain of the person he is healing. This can cause him horrible pain. When he is helping one of the princes with a woman issue he gets caught standing over a dead body. If that was not bad enough a woman takes a photo of it. Now he needs to find the woman that seemed to disappear and get the photo back. Not only does he need that photo gone he feels the pull between the two of them. Usually he is a loner but this woman has him all over the place. Wink feels the pull but she can resist Ian, right? He hot and a dragon rider but she can resist…. She really can… until she just can’t anymore. Can Ian open up to a woman? Is she really the mate for him?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
