The Neighborhood

Things a bad neighbor can do to you:

1. Have loud parties late at night

2. Refuse to mow his lawn

3. Steal your newspapers

4. Rip your heart out and walk all over it

Katya Tocci is willing to admit that she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

Liam Edenhoff showed her a side of life she'd been missing out on - sex and friendship and tacos. But then he betrayed her.

Wulfric Stone taught her that big surprises can come from unexpected places - like from a surly, aggressive, withdrawn bastard. But then he broke her heart.

Now one of them wants forgiveness, and the other wants forever. And Katya? She just wants to forget.

Who knew neighbors could be so difficult?

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

I also write contemporary romance under the name Penny Sixsmith

I so wish I DNFed it instead of finishing.

I love Stylo Fantome, but this seemed like it was written by someone else!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not exactly spoilers but it may hint some of the major stuff.

Okay, so we pick up where we basically left. Katya is hurt and trying to prove her point. Which would actually work way better if she really tried.

What irritated me the most (and almost made me DNF) was Liam's complete ignorance of boundaries. She says NO. He still hugs her! This annoyed me so much.
And from that point, he came across as a complete creep!

What he and Wulf did was pretty bad. And now that Katya is angry he thinks it's unfair to his feelings! That she is somehow disregarding his feelings?

I sooo loved when he spent the whole book promising never to lie her again. And in the end? He just comes clear that he was still lying. Again. But somehow he is the better guy???

There was so much energy put into portraying Wulf as the bad guy. But honestly? Yeah, he has a problem expressing his feelings and maybe even act appropriately based on his feelings. (A bit of Sheldon here!)

Katya feels bad after Liam cries that she is mean to him. And then she goes and is extra mean to Wulf. And then she is angry that he follows some (not all) of the rules she laid out. I thought that he genuinely tried to be a better guy for her. He just didn't know how exactly and she just jumped and tried her hardest to read the worst of his actions.

But Liam? Was he her golden boy?

The book was also unnecessarily long. Mainly because suddenly we got so many side characters that needed an introduction. What next?

PLEASE NO!!! Just write Kingsley's book. Or More of Jameson and Tate! And something so incredible as the Bad ones. Not more of... THIS!

The Neighborhood is the second book in the Twin Estates series by Stylo Fantome. Katya’s story comes to a close, and she finally makes a decision regarding the two men in her life, Wulfric and Liam. This installment was gripping and emotional. Once I started this book, I didn’t want to put it down!

Hopefully, this review won’t be too long. I am going to try to keep it on the short side… though that may not happen. I just don’t want to say too much about this book, because I don’t want to give too much away. There may be some indirect or minor spoilers though, so beware! I also don’t want my head to explode. Never has a book made me feel the level of anger and frustration this one has! The first book made me want to throw my kindle across the room, but this one made me want to smash it to pieces! I need a drink and possibly anger management. Regardless, I hated what transpired in this book! Hated. it. I don’t quite know how to put into words all of my feelings about this book. Please bear with me.

The number one reason this book made me want to rip my hair out is that I dislike Wulfric with every fiber of my being. I am a lover of the alpha asshole hero. In fact, most of my favorite heroes are world class assholes. Apparently, even I have my limits.

Why do I dislike him so much? Wulf is a big snob. If there is one thing I hate, it is people that think they are better than somebody else or can get away with anything because they have money or influence. He tried to buy Katya multiple times instead of doing any real work to show he was sorry or simply just apologizing to her. That would be beneath him. Even his kind gestures were usually just him throwing money at something or someone.

Aside from that, the biggest reason I wouldn’t spit on him if he was on fire is because he treats Katya like she is a dumb bimbo that will do anything as long as he gives her his cock. Maybe I can’t blame him, because she acts like she is. Seriously, this man’s magic dick makes her lose all control. She has zero self-respect when it comes to him. In the first book, I felt like she became completely brain dead when she was around him. I wanted to knock her upside her head! This time she knew his game, so she didn’t make it as easy for him. Regardless, he got her to cave whenever he put forth any real effort.

There is no romance between these two for most of the book. Wulf basically says, “I am going to fuck you, and you are going to like it” and then, LAUGHS that she is a weak bitch after it actually happens. It’s not her fault! How can she resist his enchanted penis?

He never really thinks she may pick Liam over him, because he is the greatest man alive. He has the nerve to tell her that even after everything he did to her, he knows he never lost her! Guys, this man disgusts me! Cocky can be cute, but his ego is repulsive! Wulfric passed up arrogant a looong time ago. There are no words for his level of egomania!

The second major problem I had with this book was the fact that Liam becomes a different person. I don’t care what anybody says, what happens to him in this book seemed so forced it was ridiculous. It felt like the author had to do something to him that would make Wulf not look as bad. I felt bad for Liam. I am going to wrap this up, because I am dying to say more and I shouldn’t. I already wrote way more than I intended.

Why give this 3.5 stars if I had such negative feelings about it? I know the writing deserves at least that. I couldn’t stop reading it, and I finished it all in one night. Not only was it captivating, but it made me FEEL so much. I can’t take that away from the author. By the time it was all said and done, I felt like I had lived everything right along with the characters, and that is probably why I feel so strongly about them. I even want to read the next book! Shocking, right? I NEED to know what happens! Again, I have to give credit for that!

Would I recommend this book? I would recommend it to everyone that loved Neighbors or are fans of Stylo Fantome. If Neighbors made you crazy, read The Neighborhood so I can discuss it with someone that feels the same way I do! lol

“I never stopped.”
“Stopped what?”
“Looking at you like you were Christmas. Even when you were angry. Even when you thought you hated me. Even when you were with him. You've always been a gift to me.”

After delivering that unexpected plot twist at the end of Neighbors, and then leaving us champing at the bit for the sequel, I have to say that Stylo Fantôme’s name was missing from my Christmas list for a little while there. But I always knew I could count on this remarkable author to make any wait forgettable and ultimately, more than worthwhile. The perfect continuation to a story that was intoxicating and thought-provoking from the very beginning, in this book, the author takes us on a titillating journey of self-empowerment and self-discovery, a journey that stems out of heartbreak and anger, but then serves to redefine the heroine’s perception of herself and the woman she wishes to be. Every aspect of this story was unexpected to me, yet exactly as I hoped it would be, and cover to cover, true to Stylo Fantôme’s brand of mind-bending storytelling.

So I was really looking forward to this book. After how the first one ended my heart ached for Katya and I wanted to see how (as impossible as it seemed) this author would get me to forgive and care about a HEA for either Wulf and/or Liam. Quite frankly halfway through this one I wanted Wulf and Liam to kick Katya to the curb and find themselves someone better....sigh.

I get she was hurt (I would have been too). I get she was mad (again...I would have been too) but being both of those doesn't mean you have to be mean, and heartless, and basically a bitch. What she did to both Liam and Wulf was NO different (IMO) than what they did to her. Oh sure, they KNEW from the get go what she was doing, and some might say they deserved it. I'm not arguing they deserved SOMETHING. But I wanted her to rise above the hurt and anger and be the bigger person. Instead, I got a heroine that descended to their level and acted like a mean spirited child half the time.

description

I thought maybe the second half of the book we would move forward into a more mature direction for all involved after Katya decided to stop playing games. Alas, all three continued with their juvenile back and forth antics well into very late in the book. I found it all a bit exhausting. On top of that, I ended up really disliking one of the guys. The author made him like a different person in this book. Like a compulsive lying dick and that bummed me out because I really liked him in the previous book. To be honest I am not totally sold on wanting to read his book at all at this point.

That said, I really do love this author's writing and although I was a bit letdown with the second half of this duet it did keep me interested and turning the pages to see where this cluster fuck was heading. So for that alone, the author gets a thumbs up.

2 I don’t even know Stars

The Neighborhood is part of the Twin Estates series. I loved Neighbors, I rated it six stars and it was one of my top books of 2016 and so I was REALLY excited for the second book.

I was stalking Stylo Facebook Fan Page and I screamed like a little girl when I received this book.

Now, you can understand how it PAINS me to write this review. These are my honest opinions and based on everyone else’s review, I am in the minority so maybe you may read my review and think to yourself well that doesn’t bother me and love it.

What I loved about book 1 was the angst, the steam and the dynamic between the three main characters. I did side with Wulf more, but I liked Liam a lot. I was expecting a nice little dance between the three characters for the second book.

Here are my top issues:

1.) I didn’t feel like the book was written the same way.

I found book one really energetic, steamy and fun and filled with fun banter. I thought the second book really slow. I didn’t feel any movement until the half-way point and even then there were many dull moments.

2.) I had issues with Katya

Katya wanted to get back at the boys for lying and using her, so she wanted to do to them the same. I was ALL for this. I just felt like the execution was lacking though. I didn’t understand her personality. She would be so mean to them and yes they did deserve it, BUT I didn’t like that she used one for the other. For example when one would upset her, she would run crying to the other one to what? Make her feel better? I didn’t see her as powerful and confident, but really needy and a little pitiful.

3.) There weren’t many oh cute moments

I wanted a lot of “oh that’s so cute” moments. I counted four in the book and it all involved Wulf. When Wulf would do something to kind of stir the you know what with Katya I found it cute. He would do little things to get her attention and I really craved and enjoyed those moments. However, I found it lacking.

4.) How Liam was portrayed

I can’t really explain this without giving it away, but I didn’t like it. Even though I was rooting for Liam, I felt like his storyline was a bit emasculating. I was disappointed on many of his actions.

5.) I didn’t see the “romance”.

I understand Katya was angry with the guys, but I didn’t see any of the relationship grow. It was like the whole book was her being mad and trying to get over it, BUT I wanted her feelings to develop more. There were HUGE chunks in the book where Katya was talking to her friend or family and I just didn’t care for it.

6.) I didn’t care for the length of the story

I love a long book, but I would have been happier with 30% less “filler” stuff. Like The conversations with the best friend and family (as mentioned above).

With all of that said, I was really SHOCKED and SURPRISED on how I reacted towards this book. I expected another five star read and me gushing from ear to ear with love and praises. EVERY Stylo book I have read has been nothing less than a HIGH 4 star, if not six star read.

I know a lot of people liked this book, but I really hope Stylo doesn’t take this direction in future books. I miss the wow, angst and lust.

4 STARS****

The Neighborhood is the striking conclusion to the story of Katya, the once shy baker who got trapped inside a web of delicious lies between two neighbors. Katya Tocci got a lot more than a borrowed cup of sugar from her sexy neighbors, and lucky for us we go along for the ride.

Will Katya pick the serious and rich, alpha male tycoon, or the sexy and fun sex club owner? Stylo Fatôme makes it really hard for us to pick between these two gorgeous, and alluring fictional boyfriends.

 photo B36B85A3-D2FB-44EB-BF82-98A4786902FB_zpsj7ly9mma.jpg

This book starts with Katya trying to cope with the massive heartache caused by the two men she had feelings for. The whole experience has changed her, and now she struggles trying to find a balance between the woman she used to be, and who she is now after everything she's been through.

To make things more interested, both Wulf and Liam want Katya back, and this time around they are willing to grovel, beg and do whatever it takes to have her back in their lives. Katya is very hurt, so she decides to give the guys a taste of their own medicine, and why not have a little fun while she's at it? Making them pretty much compete against each other to win her back. The only rule to this game Katya has come up with is... no sex. (gasp)(yeah right?)

 photo EEC536EE-A2E8-49EF-AEA3-9CB88BF3D216_zpsyfof5gqq.jpg

I loved how I never knew what would happen next in the story; one minute I was in love with Liam, then the next I was lusting hard after Wulf. It got to a point were I was actually hoping Katya would pick both, so she could just live happily ever after with her two men. I mean, why not?

This book was fun, sexy and full of angst. Katya got on my nerves a few times, but I got over it pretty quickly, and towards the end I was completely invested and consumed by the story. The author introduced a few new characters in this book that totally captivated me, and I'm really hoping she turns their stories into more books.

So, pack your U-Haul, leave your inhabitations behind, and move into this neighborhood, where anything is possible...

2* relation-shit STARS!

It pains me to give two stars because there was no significant progress from the previous book. In the end of Neighbors, Katya Tocci realized she got played by two man in her life. Liam Edenhoff, her neighbor and Wulfric Stone, her childhood crush. Apparently, those two know each other but the maniac in here is Wulfric. Katya thought she could move on, but they wouldn't let her go.
Two men she'd been involved with, slept with, had deep, personal relationships with. Two men who'd empowered her and helped her grow and changed her very core. Two men who had used her and chewed her up and then spit her out.
And now both those men were her close neighbors.
Jesus, this brings a whole new meaning to “there goes the neighborhood”.

✔ Katya sucks! She didn't have backbone to reject Liam and Wulfric. She was freaking angry then came with weak revenge plot that bite her back in the end. Really failed. In the end, she forgive them because she felt bad. What's the purpose, huh?

description

✔ Liam is madly in lust with Katya. He maybe not the one, but he's a good friend when he didn't think about sex. I almost fall for him. Sometimes he confused me. Liam wants to date Katya and try to be the one for her but he couldn't keep his pants on? Open relationship isn't my cuppa. In the end, I was disappointed with his immaturity.

✔ I couldn't handle Wulfric. He's complicated and frustrated me. Wulfric is still the same arrogant ass. I liked him at first but it didn't wow enough. He act high-mighty and untouchable yet victimized himself as a unlovable person. I didn't saw him fight for himself or Katya. He just need to be... saved?

description

✔ The story was taking too long with unnecessary mundane things. Very slow-paced and boring with too many characters. I couldn't feel the romance at all. No angst; just hollow feeling.

Conclusion? I'm amazed how I survived this. I always knew Wulfric is the one for her from the start. The way Katya's submit to everything he gave. I pitied Liam who became the third wheel. In the end, I still didn't understand their 'relationship'.

5 "Didn't want it to End" Stars
 photo IMG_2272_zpsrek6x8rb.jpg
The book is sexy, scintillating fun and Katya, Wulf and Liam bring it in spades. This story is told with sass and lots of emotion. Three characters that become intertwined and bring out the good and bad in each other and it's done in the most entertaining of ways.....pantry, cupcakes, fountains, broom closets.....get my drift?!?!!

This story begins after The Neighbor ends. It was a brutal ending and Katya had to put on her big girl panties and figure out what happened to her. She had a "best friend" and a "one that meant more", but they both lied and played her. So what to do........being angry doesn't work because they are both sorry and want her back......sooooooo Katya turns the table and TRIES to play both Wulf and Liam. The key word is TRIES. She thinks she can play with the big boys but it does come at a cost. Can her soul survive? Can she really forgive and forget? #TeamWulf #TeamTacos #WhatDoesTeamKatyaWant

This story is truly about finding ones heart. It can be angry, hurtful, and vengeful if scorned, but in the end, the heart knows what it wants. While Katya tries to get back at Liam and Wulf, she must deal with the fact that she is really not a woman who can scorn and be unscathed. Katya is a sweet and kind woman no matter what has happened to her. The discovery and the journey of these three characters is sassy, sweet, real, raw and pure. I loved the rollercoaster ride, even when I was worried it might derail, it held me fastened to my seat and it delivered beautifully.

I will say that the author writes her characters with open honesty. Each one of them is filled with passion, heart and desire. Roll these three together and it's a beautiful mix of a perfect storm. You can feel the intensity and the light heartedness, the flirty-#TeamTacos and the fire- #TeamWulf, the depth and the angst, the comedic flare and sexy hutzpah, the Wulfy sarcasm, and most of all you can feel the love!!!

In closing, I loved the ending and was always #Team........??? Did you think I would spoil?? Never........You are going to have to read to find out if your team matched my team!!!

5 "This should get very interesting, very quickly." Stars

I'd like to preface this review by saying that normally this wouldn't be my kind of story at all what with the love-triangle-esque relationship and even more so, the crazily confused heroine. Yet, Stylo Fantome's unfailing gift for story telling forces you to fall really hard for these characters all over again. Really hard. Again. To the point you're consuming her words late at night in bed when you should be sleeping because you cannot possibly go to sleep when you don't know where Katya, Wulf, and Eden will take you next - you NEED to know.

The story told within The Neighborhood is simply magnetic. I had a strongly vested interest in each character and their plights. Katya Tocci plays with fire in this sequel to Neighbors trying to join a game she's ill-equipped to win. Wulfric Stone turns uncharacteristic realizations into equally uncharacteristic actions. Liam Edenhoff inserts himself into a situation he seemingly feels dire to control. All three come blazing back right where they left us in book one. All three stay steadfast in their quest while providing high entertainment for their readers.

The Neighborhood is an unusual and dynamic game of hearts and fire that's edgy, comedic, and sexy. There's passion abound as the three of them play to win. However, it unfolds that each of them are playing with different motivations and expected outcomes taking readers through some unexpected twists and turns. It's about friendships and the subtle and not so subtle gray areas of relationships, it's about boundaries and testing those limits. It's about understanding who are you and what you want. It's not about emotional taxing angst and unnecessary drama; it's about discovery and friendship and letting loose a little bit. It's simple fun. So much goes into their spicy little game making it simply enjoyable to read.

Stylo Fantome stomped all over my feelings of stories with a young, confused, and naive heroine in a triangle situation. She made it an adventure. She made Katya impossibly human, girly, cute, teasing, and perfect. She gave me two hot, sweet, domineering men that I could fuss and drool over the entire duet. She made them fall for and chase after the pretty girl who has the capacity to make you sigh and smile at the time make you crazy. She gave me one man that I would have worked myself stupid into falling for. She gave me friends. She made me laugh. And ultimately she gave me a story in The Neighborhood that I enjoyed reading immensely and felt completely satisfied with all the good vibes I got while inhaling it. And I really, really, really hope that with how it ended Stylo writes us a novella, like really hope, because that would be plain awesome and even more fun.

Major thanks to my girl, Deanna PinkLady, for the recommendation of this author. It's been nothing but awesome reading from Fantome's catalog since.

Wulf? Liam? Both? Or Neither? Who will win the heart of Katya? Team Wulf or Team Liam? Well, I think it’s given that I couldn’t wait for this much anticipated conclusion of The Neighborhood.

photo Untitled_zpssge8arou.png “Because despite everything,” he spoke softly, moving closer to her. “The fighting and the lying and the game playing,” his lips were actually brushing against her. “You still feel .. . exactly ... the same ... about me.”

If you know me, I don’t do love triangles. It is something that I rarely read because I would feel bad for the other party. But for this particular book, Stylo Fantôme had me hooked. I loved Wulf in the previous book and liked Liam a lot. And so when it came down to choosing which men Katya would end up with, Katya’s new change would be the game changer.

#TheNeighborhood

When Katya discovers that the two men she trusted lied and betrayed her, it made Katya somewhat bitter, angry and someone I honestly didn’t like. The new Katya didn’t impress me at all. I expected her to be more fierce but instead found her lacking and wished I could slap some sense into her.

photo Untitled_zpssge8arou.png “I need her, so much. She belongs with me, we belong together. So however long it takes, that's how long it takes. I can play the part of a stone and wait her out. It's what I was born to do, after all.”

I will say that my opinion on Wulf didn’t change much. I love his character a lot. He was the only one that I found relatable and true to his character. I found his flaws endearing which made me rooted for him. As for Liam, I didn’t expect what was revealed about him. Honestly, Liam really didn’t make such an impact in the storyline. He was just there and somewhat unforgettable which is kind of sad since I loved the angst and love triangle that Stylo incorporated in the first book.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00014]

As for who will win Katya's heart, you will have to read and discover why Team ?? was always the choice. Did I enjoy this book? Yes. Did I like both men? Of course. Did I like how Katya was written in this final conclusion? That would be a No. I just wished the author had incorporated more angst, drama, and surprisingly more of a major love triangle debacle but other than that I was left satisfied with how everything turned out in the end.

photo Untitled_zpssge8arou.png “Having a good neighbor is nice , but having one that loves you and takes care of you and makes every moment feel like it's catching on fire? Well, that's just the best neighbor ever ...”

The Neighborhood is a sexy fast paced romance that will keep you glued. I love Stylo’s ability to tell a story. Her writing is magnetic since I was left savoring each word and raw emotions. As for the romance aspect, it was pretty much given who would win the heart of Katya midway through the book. Yes, I was happy with whom she chosen. So are you ready to discover which neighbor she will choose and what awaits for the other neighbor then you better Come and knock on Stylo’s door.

Sometimes I wonder if the way I feel towards particular characters is done by design. Is it done intentionally? Because it feels hella intentional!

Why? Because I still couldn't stand Katya. I tried. I really did. I tried to convince myself that she's young and her behaviour was typical of that age. But that failed because when I was her age I was a mother of two and I in no way even thought the way she does. Then I thought of all that was going on in her life and rationalized that it was enough to make anyone cray cray. But then I was reminded that there are people who are dealt worse hands and handle things remarkably well. Not her. It just couldn't be done. I couldn't snow myself into being a Katya fan.

As for Liam and Wulf... sign me up for their fan clubs. I FLOVED these men!!

Okay, so if two people hurt you in the same way at the same time, who do you forgive? If you're going to forgive and forget, let bygones be bygones, wouldn't that mean you'd forgive both of them? And if you're going to allow one to be a big part of your life, then the other would have to be too? I'm just saying. Wulf and Liam may have been the ones playing games in book one but in this one, Katya seemed determined to win. And in my opinion she cheated. It wasn't a fair game because she was making up the rules as she went along. And had them firmly rooted in one's favor over the other.

All of my sympathy has always gone to Wulf. Despite everything he's ever done, I was rooting for him. Maybe it's because I could understand where he came from. His history. What made him who he is today. He came off hard and cold, but his heart was devoted to Katya and of that I never had a doubt. He would and did do anything she wanted and needed, even at the detriment of himself. And it was never enough! And why would it be. He was dealing with a simple, spoiled, irrational, manipulative, immature and petulant Katya. Yeah I said it!!

Signs of her juvenile thoughts and actions leaked from every facet of this story. In all honesty though, as much as she drove me crazy, she was freaking ENTERTAINING!! She was what made this story intense and angsty, even if it was for no reason. I had no clue who she was eventually going to choose, if it would be either man. Shoot, at times I questioned if this story would even have a happy ending. She kept the men guessing... and me as well.

Things to prepare for when reading this book:
✯ wanting to scream
✯ wanting to throw your device at a wall in frustration
✯ wanting to pull your hair out in equal frustration
✯ wanting to beat someone... anyone... a person who bears a remarkable resemblance to Katya... up
✯ falling in love with the characters despite EVERYTHING

Now I'm super excited to read BLOCK PARTY!!

I was hoping the second part was going to get better but unfortunately not for me. Over the top unnecessarily drawn out drama, douche heroes, useless additions of side characters and a long list of dislikes for the heroine....too many to write. Nope, was not a fan of the book.

Where the first book left off, I was dying for the conclusion to this duet! Like Katya, I was ticked and wanted to see what she'd do to Wulf and Liam.

It was great to see how she gave them both a bit of their own medicine. And for a while there, I was still undecided as to whose team I was on. While I understood Katya's anger, at times, she was annoying, but by the end, all was good. I really enjoyed this and was turning the pages wanting to see how this would all unfold.

I love how Stylo gives us original, engaging stories and this duet was no different. If you're looking for a sexy, angsty read, I'd recommend this!

4.0 "FOLLOW YOUR HEART" STARS!!!

I have been waiting for this book for what felt like forever so just like anybody else I am so eager what the author is in store for us right now.And with The Neighborhood, YASSS!! A whole new level of craziness, playing games and then later on to asking forgiveness and then finally choosing who'll end up who. Now the question is are you Team Tacos orTeam Wulfy???My GAAAD... I know for a fact that you are just as conflicted as me. We wanted the alpha sexiness of Wulfy, his intensity, his brooding nature and his "I don't care attitude" but at the same time we are longing for Eden's sweet and carefree nature. And who will even forget his flirty ways? Both men brought big impact to Katya but the question is, who really is she gonna choose in the end? Will there even be a HEA? Definitely yes, but the road to forever seems wasn't that easy. Games were played, misunderstamding and tension rises and naturally somebody gets to get hurt. That is the reason why no matter how enjoyable and fun this story line is, How we are rooting for the angst it usually brings and the gut wrenching and heart stopping moments, and don't get me even started with how thick the sexual tension is, but really in in the end only one is sure bound to get Katya's Yes!

To be honest, as conflicted as I was, I even silently plead "Let it be threesome please?". I was actually rooting for it but who knows where the evil mind of Stylo Fantome gonna lead us in this book? She's known for her mindfucks story line, proof on how our feelings felt being played. Our minds confused leading to our hearts choosing so hard amongst these two men. But one thing is for sure, You can never go wrong with Stylo no matter how crazy the characters journey are. And that is one the many reasons why I love Stylo Fantome works. In fact my mind has been spinning in circles as I read the book. I have a rollercoaster of emotions devouring this conclusion. As a Team Wulfy through and through, I love how his character was being portrayed. Don't get me wrong I have a soft spot for Eden too leading me to "threesome please". But then I will admit, I hate Katya as much as I love her. I hated her actions and I wanna strangle this woman. The fact that two men were fighting over her got me wanting to erase her. Aside from that I hated how she was being portrayed in this conclusion. However though, I lover her, because her flawed character had me keep going in the story. It had me engrossingly reading never minding where I was and what I was supposed to do. I just read and read until I finished the book.

And my verdict? It was a good conclusion of this love triangle story. I love how it was written. It was a long book and I appreaciated how the characters past were incorporated showing to us readers why these chaacters are "who they seem to be" in the present. It reallly had me a good foundation and understanding why they acted what way. More than that, I love how what was being stressed out in this story. Because more than the "love triangle", more than the choosing part, more than the mistakes of the past, the actions that only heightened the tension, the story focuses on what really it is to fall in love. That no matter how ugly it started, no matter how confusions and complications arises, it will boil down to the fact that "Falling in love was never easy. It is messy and difficulf and it wasn't even fair. Sorry isn't even a question. It's easy to spit this word out but it's another story on how you acted on it, talk about. It really takes work. Because truly, "when you love someone, forgiveness comes easier.”

And Katya's dad is right, you must follow your heart. And this line, really made an impact. "Your mistake is thinking that forgiving someone automatically takes away all the hard work that goes into the relationship. You think saying 'I'm sorry' should magically make the hurt and heartache go away. Well, it doesn't – 'I'm sorry' are just the first two words at the very beginning of a lot of conversations and a very long road of work."

Great job Stylo for delivering this enjoyable read. You really had me with your complicated and sexy stories. But more than that, you stole my heart with your words and lines.

Having a good neighbor is nice, but having one that loves you and takes care of you and makes every moment feel like it's catching on fire? Well, that's just the best neighbor ever ...

“But she wouldn't ever actually do anything mean to them. … would she?”

I simply love this writer!!! Even though this read was a particularly angsty “angst-fest”, I still appreciated the three main characters: Katya, Liam and Wulfric. I was interested in the whole read and read every word…what am I saying? I always read every word. LOL

I realize that I am late to the party with this series and actually…late in discovering this writer… which has been a delight for me. Who doesn’t love finding a new writer to love? I am also slightly amused by some of the reader reactions to the turn of events that transpire in the story. Needless to say, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I found Katya’s actions very credible considering the embarrassment, emotional shock and disappointment of what she endured because of Liam and Wulfric. Remember she was at her most open and unguarded when she learned of the genesis of her relationships with these two men. I enjoyed some of the well-deserved comeuppance she dished out to both men.

She does grow up considerably through the turn of events in her life and she comes to the realization that she is not really that girl who is mean or plays games. Still…it was fun reading about her shenanigans!!! All three characters grow through the events of this, the second book, in the “Twin Estates” series.

Through it all, Katya was careful to acquiesce sexually only to the man she truly loved, even though she had natural feelings of desire for the other as he pressed his suit. I even enjoyed the coming close and letting go of Katya and her beloved. Isn’t the increasing tension and uncertainty of this type of situation the stuff on which we romance readers gorge ourselves?

Oh, and can this author write sex!!! Yes, my friends…she has a deft and creative pen when it comes to the build up and climax of an erotic encounter. I never take this for granted. Very entertaining and very satisfying!!! I am literally beside myself or somewhere thereabouts. :D

I’m so interested in the fate of the characters that I am on to book 3. I like the fact I can go right into the next book. I know all too well the pain of waiting for the next book in a series. I experience it constantly. So…this is indeed a nice reprieve and I truly love this author’s writing.

If escaping to the romantic problems and the resulting angst of some interesting characters (including hot alpha men) coupled with some smokin’ hot sex is your jam then do not hesitate to visit The Neighborhood. After of course you read the first book, Neighbors

I loved these characters! Book 1 was so good and I badly wanted to know how it would end and I was not disappointed. This was sexy, fun, entertaining and heartwarming. This is my second book by this author and now I'm a fan:)

Title: The Neighborhood
Author: Stylo Fantome
Category: Romance
Series or Standalone: Series, Book #2
Plot: 4
Characters: 3.5
Scorching Level: 3
POV: Multiple POV
HEA: Not telling

I have a hard time rating this because even though I have loved these characters and I was an obsessed fan of the first book, this book let me down a bit. Some of the elements that made the first book for me were missing in this one; most importantly my connection to the heroine, Katya.
In this book, her hurt made her act out and even though I knew she was right, I struggled with her reckless and at times immature games.
Wulf and Liam, our two heroes will have to face a completely different Katya in this one. The back and forth between our characters felt a bit drawn out and even the author's stellar writing didn't make the experience any easier.
Still, I am very curious about the next book because I need to know what happens to that character; the one burned from this complex story.
3.75 Stars from me.

After reading Neighbors in December and having that cliffhanger ending, I've been patiently waiting for the conclusion to this story.

The Neighborhood picks up after the conclusion of Neighbors where Katya learns that the two guys who meant everything to her had betrayed her. Deciding she wants nothing to do with them she cuts them out of her life completely. No answered phone calls. No opening the door when they stop by. No listening to excuses. No begging or pleading for forgiveness.

"Two men she'd been involved with, slept with, had deep, personal relationships with. Two men who'd empowered her and helped her grow and changed her very core. Two men who had used her and chewed her up and then spit her out. And now both those men were her close neighbors."

After giving her a few weeks to herself the guys decide she's had enough time and begin trying to talk to her. Liam already lived next door to her, so keeping an eye on her and figuring out when the best possible time to approach her was easier for him. Wulfric, on the other hand, didn't live as close, but that all changed when he decided to move into the penthouse of her building.

Being surrounded by these guys, it was inevitable that she would run into them. So, if she can't avoid them, Katya decides to turn things around on the guys. She wants them to know how they made her feel. She starts out vengeful, but soon realizes that she doesn't want to be that person anymore. But how can she get past the betrayal and hurt and learn how to trust again? Which guy proves that she should be with him?

I wasn't one hundred percent sure which team I was on after reading the first book, but there was one guy that I was secretly hoping would win out in the end. There was a lot of back and forth in this book and Stylo Fantôme kept me guessing as to who Katya would end up with in this book. There were some parts that seemed to drag a bit, but overall I was happy with the way it ended. I'm looking forward to reading the other guy's story next.

The wait for Wulf, Katya, and Liam is over! The conclusion to Stylo Fantome's heart-stopping first Twin Estates Novel- Neighbors- is now here. I hope you are all ready for THE NEIGHBORHOOD because I sure wasn't.

The Twin Estates novels follow the unorthodox love story of conservative baker Katya Tocci, her landlord Liam Edenhoff, and her childhood neighbor Wulfric Stone. They say love is a game for two, but what happens when three played it?

Neighbors started as Katya's discovery of her sexual capabilities. Liam- the landlord- played a huge part in it. He opened Katya's eyes to things she didn't know she's capable of doing. Most of them, sexually. Everything's going well with Liam until her childhood crush, Wulf came back to her life. It was all fun for Katya Tocci, until everything came crashing down right before her eyes.

Now on Neighborhood, we will see how Katya tries to glue her ruined life back. It's hell she's been through and it's hell that changed her. Gone are those days of innocence because she learned her lesson. The two men she trusted so much owe her and now she's ready to collect.

One word: CONFUSED.

I've never been this confused in my life. I have read a bunch of books that have two heroes competing for a heroine and usually before I get to the middle of the story, I already know which hero I will be rooting for. But this book, geez... THIS BOOK confused the hell out of me. The heroes here are equally hot but very different in most aspects and that made the choosing harder!

Stylo has this way of making her readers believe that they already have the plot all figured out, but then... nope. I tried to predict what happens next, but then it's impossible. This author's brain is difficult to read. So yes, I have to bear with the angst the whole time and it was STRONG! There were even some points I think I forgot to breathe. This story is HIGHLY ADDICTING and I just couldn't put the book down. I continued reading until I get the answers the author has been depriving since the first book.

Okay, I will stop here right now, and try not to spill much because you have to go through that emotional roller coaster I've been through too. It was crazy, angsty, sometimes a little painful but I'm telling you... it's all so worth it.

So much eye-rolling!

The Neighborhood is the second installment of the Twin Estates Series. It has been a while since I've read the first book of this series and that's because I didn't know if I actually wanted to finish this series. The first one was just meh to me and after reading this one - well, it wasn't much better. I'm still dealing with this awful love triangle and I didn't care one bit on who she ended up with.

In this book, you will still read about the love going on between Katya and Liam and Katya and Wulf. Now out of the three of them - Liam was my favorite. After finishing this book, I only care about his happiness. Throughout the first book, and this one too, I just didn't care about the three of them. I didn't really want Katya with Liam because he deserved way better in my eyes. I hated that she was trying to play their game with them. Messing with people's feelings wasn't a good idea and I didn't like that it was sort of like a tit for tat kind of thing. Yeah, they messed with her but they learned their lesson - sort of. Then to have her try and do the same to them? Pretty messed up.

Again, after reading this book I was flip flopping on whether to dive into the third book of this series.. and after I found out it's more about Liam - well, I'm down. This book brought up some of his vulnerability and I want to see more. I need more. I need my baby Liam to be happy.

2.5

I enjoyed the last 40% or so but the first half drove me nuts with her bitchy behaviour and flipping between the two guys. I almost dnf'd a few times, but pushed on to see it through and it got really good at the end. I kind of wish most of the loop of bitchy behaviour during the first 50-60% wasn't there, this would've been a much better read without it for me and not nearly so tediously long.

Apparently I am in the minority, because I thought The Neighborhood was excellent, better than Neighbors for me. While I enjoyed Neighbors, when I went to pick up The Neighborhood I realized I had forgotten the majority of the story line, it was just that kind of book for me. The Neighborhood, though? I could not put it down. I wake up at 4:30am for work, but I read this until 11pm one evening...I even cried. Katya's journey as she finds herself isn't pretty, it's certainly not as sexy as it was in Neighbors, but it was realistic. I had some weird, best friend level protective feelings as she stumbled her way through her first major heartbreak and the healing that followed.

Messing with Liam was dangerous enough, but Wulf was downright bad for her health. Bad for my soul.

Stuck in the midst of a love triangle gone wrong, Katya is a passionate heroine desperate to take control of her own story. As she stooped to the same level as Liam and Wulf, I thought I was going to hate her, I mean I rolled my eyes as soon as she got the idea in her head, but it is hard to deny that Katya was clever in her handling of the boys. I found myself loving the fast-paced, laugh out loud run ins between the three, the snarky dialogue, and the rotating POV allows the reader to see the emotions transparently, with the characters never the wiser. Liam and Wulf, well they're Liam and Wulf, I don't feel like they were any different than the previous novel, but the situations they were placed into were. With the setting change, and the angst turned up a notch, the true Liam and Wulf seemed to show. The setting also allowed for a lot of character growth, or in some character's case truth unveiling. I found myself feeling emotions alongside the characters, especially as the book neared it's end. I was both shocked, elated, and a puddle of tears as Stylo unveiled Katya, Liam, and Wulf's futures. It was both unexpected, but welcomed at the same time. Perfectly written, I never once guessed how Katya would finally deal with the mess that her romantic life had become.

If I wasn't broken before, this will shatter me.

"...He's very blinding. Keep both eyes open.

I became so invested in this book, thanks to Stylo Fantome's story telling style. The Neighborhood is intriguing, from start to finish it is honest, and surprisingly poignant. Readers will connect with Katya, Wulf, and Liam, seeing a bit of themselves, of their family, and of their friends in them. I now feel like the emotional torture I went through in Neighbors was worth it, completely worth it, because I enjoyed The Neighborhood so much. If you're looking for a new book, a new series, or are just generally a fan of contemporary romance with a realistic plot line, Twin Estates is the series for you.

I read almost all books from this author and so far loved them all. Stylo Fantome can really write wonderful, captivating stories with strong, sassy heroines and hot heroes.

I was a little bit afraid to jump into this series since I’m not really fond of love triangle books but since previous work from this author didn’t disappoint I wanted to try. Even though I won’t become a fan of love triangle books, both books had me captivated.

Betrayal ... it killed everything! Katya needs some time to forgive Liam and Wulf. Forgiving one of them goes easier than the other. Will she ever be able to forgive? What about promises made? When a tragedy happens both men are there for her? Who will win her heart? I know and I would chose the same one. Read the book to find out... The next book in the series will be about the other man.

I loved Katya’s best friend Tori and would love to read an HEA for her as well.

What an absolutely PHENOMENAL, EMOTIONAL, PANTY-MELTING, HEART-POUNDING, GUT-WRENCHING series this was. I LOVED Neighbors, LOVED. These characters grabbed ahold of my heart. I thought about them constantly between the release of the two books, could not get them, or their story out of my heart. (I meant to write head, but my fingers typed heart, and know what, they were right.)

I follow Stylo Fantôme on Facebook and she had mentioned that she struggled with this second book... writing and re-writing the story. And you know what I realize, you know what is so blatantly clear as you read through these chapters... at some point Stylo decided to let the characters take the reins and write their own story. It wasn't always pretty, it wasn't always easy to read (even though it was so beautifully written.) Because shit went down, hearts were broken, hearts were healed, friedships lost and found. Sometimes I wanted to scream at the characters, sometimes I just needed Wulfric to hold me. It was REAL, and it was RAW, and I FELT IT I felt it to my core, and I absolutely LOVED it.

It was SUCH a perfect conclusion... to the things that were concluded... and while she gave us the closure we needed in some storylines, others are just beginning, I know she has so much awesomeness in store for us!

I'm really bummed to rate this book on the lower side. I absolutely loved Neighbors (book 1), but this book just did not do it for me.

The story does start out at a slow pace but for me, it continues to be slow and indecisive all the way to about 77%, where finally there's some action and some things begin make a turning point.

Katya was not a likable character for me throughout the entire book. Her inner narrative is back and forth and constantly making excuses for her decisions. I thought her initial decision to toy with the guys was an opportunity for some comedic relief, and maybe, a chance to bring down Wulf's walls. I didn't get either. It was just the same thing over and over with each situation she put the guys in. When one man would upset her she would run to the other, but then push him away too. It was just a frustrating read and without the big emotional climax that I was hoping for. I will definitely still read the next book. I just wasn't thrilled with this one. I just couldn't connect to the characters emotionally at all.

The drama returns and this time, EVERYONE is in on the game. Angst at every turn, THE NEIGHBORHOOD brings us back into the lives of Wulf, Liam, and Katya, and the love triangle that NEVER SLEEPS! With Katya reeling from the truth that these two absolutely played her, she is on a mission to make their lives hell. How does she do it? By stooping to their level, that's how. She is going to make both these men pay for tearing her heart and her soul in two.

"...I want him to love me the way he made me love him."

The games have only just begun, and no matter how much hurt or pain these three cause each other, they never give up. No matter who you think Katya should choose in the end, it's NOT apparent right away. You will be surprised on the different sides we see to all three characters.

Some may love it and some may hate it, but no matter how you feel, you can't deny that this author's writing is spectacular. She pulls you in and forces you to invest in these characters on every possible level. Love them or hate them, they all will make you FEEL something. THE NEIGHBORHOOD is a unique romance that will totally screw with your heart. The dynamic is intriguing, the storyline, fascinating. I was NEVER bored, and I was always on edge. It was nothing short of memorable for sure!
