An okay and average read.
Bella our heroine is returning home, she is now the mother of her sisters twin babies. Bella lost her sister and fiancé in a car accident, the two were having an affair. Bella returns to her family home and learns her father, who is a gambler, took a loan against the house to pay off some gambling debt. Bella is furious and fearful of losing the home she grew up in and also her and her mothers dream to turn it into a B&B. She learns her father owes their neighbors the Elliott's the money and needs to pay them off in a couple months or lose the home.
We open with Bella driving to the Elliots ranch in a furious state. As she enters their beautiful ranch she sees a gorgeous, shirtless cowboy coming out of a barn. Well she's so distracted she runs into a fence. The shirtless cowboy is our hero Colt Elliot who comes to her rescue and is completely smitten with Bella. He picks up right away she's angry and she lets him know she needs to speak to Mr Elliot but learns he's not available but Colt will pass her message. The following morning Bella is summoned back to the ranch and learns exactly who Mr Elliot is. Sparks fly between the two and Colt comes to an agreement with Bella that she'll work off the loan in the month ahead by working on the ranch for/with him (he wants her close to seduce her). Bella's father will watch the babies. Colt has secrets he's keeping from Bella about the loan and her father.
The story evolves with the two characters developing a friendship as well as lusting after one another. We learn about the fathers gambling issues, past relationship hurts/issues that Bella and Colt both endured and we get some glimpses of cute baby moments. Secrets are then revealed resulting in a lot of hurt feelings and broken trust. We have Bella and Colt learning to open up to each other and reestablish trust, opens and compromise.
I liked the story line and the romance in general. But I found the dialogue to be over the top at times as well as cheesy. The ending was to quick and abrupt. And the insta-lust was off-putting and in love in what, a week?!? A little much.

Mr. Elliott wants Annabelle Carter. He wants her for sex, plain and simple. Since he’s sure she also feels the sexual attraction, he starts wearing away at her defenses and brushing off her denials. He ignores her explicit request that he call her Ms. Carter or Annabelle, he demands that she ride with him on a horse instead of her taking a car (in fact, pretty much everything he says to her is a demand; saying “please” isn’t part of this macho man’s vocabulary) and isn’t above using physicality to bend her to his will.
He never manhandles her or is too rough. But he’s her boss and every time he draws her close, pulls her against his body, kisses her or calls her stupid pet names (in spite of her constant objections), it’s wrongful behavior on his part.
Cole’s inner language about Annabelle is scarily possessive and displays little concern about her emotional needs. Only her sexual ones matter and to that end physical closeness and sexual innuendo are his weapons—even if she keeps telling him she’s not interested or it’s not going to happen.
He stepped closer, easing the puppy into her arms and deliberately brushing his forearms along her chest. “You’ve never dealt with someone like me. You may like it.”
The puppy snuggled against her chest and Colt ran a bare fingertip up her arm, smiling when she shivered. “I’m sure we’d both be thoroughly satisfied.”
Whatever internal battle she waged with herself, Colt wanted no part of it. He’d wanted simple, he’d wanted sex. He still did.
Someone like Annabelle would take time to seduce, but he wasn’t about to back down. She was needy, aching, just the same as him. He’d felt her heart beat against his chest, felt her arch into him slightly before she pushed him away.
It was only a matter of time before he unleashed that passion.
Ugh. With the author continually drumming Cole’s resolve to nail Annabelle, where the hell is the tension? Oh, Cole is really kindly towards Annabelle but it has only one purpose—having her in bed. He promises her pleasure but it’s only his terms.
“I want you,” he said.
“No, you want to control me.”
“Only in bed.”
Huh? This is bullying only barely disguised as romantic sweet talk and makes me queasy. However, we’re meant to excuse it because Cole is fighting his own instincts to tell him to stay away from Annabelle and ignoring other people’s advice about his tactics towards her. She’s got the land he means to have and he wants to keep things between them strictly sexual but she’s oh so sweet and he just can’t resist her.
I wonder once again for whom such novels are intended. Such novels must appeal to guys who like to have power and control over women, who want to molest their female employees and have them incapable or unwilling to scream “harassment” because the women secretly want them (the old “no means yes” mentality). There are men out there who want to be greedy, acquisitive and sexually rapacious but want to be seen as good guys because they give her a packed dinner, tend to her kids or drive her home when she's tired (behavior that's conspicuously lacking towards other, male, employees). They claim to like strong women but covertly want that strength to wither away when they kiss a gal or screw her up against walls.
Screw this. Sexual harassment and hitting on the help is never going to be a turn-on for me. I didn’t like it in Jane Eyre and it’s not working for me here.

Twin Secrets by Jules Bennett is a sexy, flirty and satisfying story with enough conflict to provoke a reaction in you as a reader. The characters are real-as-life, flawed and definitely people you’d want to meet. I really enjoyed the sharp banter. It was refreshing, compelling and kept me turning the pages. Overall, I found the story to be passionate and entertaining, and it’s a book I’d highly recommend to romance fans looking for a fun story!

Emotional start to the new series, full of passion, betrayal and love of family. Annabelle has returned home with her heart battered and bruised. She recently lost both her sister in a car accident - after discovering that her fiancé had been cheating on her with her sister. Annabelle is now the guardian of her sister's twin daughters and is determined to give them the best home possible. Then she finds out that her father has gambled away his life savings and his home, the same home that she has dreams of turning into a B & B. She blames his rich neighbor for taking advantage of her father's weakness.
Colt has wanted the ranch next door for years. His father's dream was to turn it into the best dude ranch in Texas and Colt plans to make that dream come true. He has an ironclad plan to make his dream come true, but he doesn't count on his neighbor's daughter and her desire to save her family home.
I really liked Annabelle. She has had the rug pulled out from under her in so many ways, but she refuses to let it break her. She is passionate about her dream and about her family. Finding out that her father has borrowed money from their rich neighbor infuriates her and has her racing to his ranch to give him a piece of her mind. I loved her determination to save her home, and her willingness to work for the enemy to do it.
I had a harder time liking Colt. I really felt that he had been terribly underhanded in his methods of acquiring the ranch. Then to agree to Annabelle working for him to pay off the debt, knowing that he would still own the ranch at the end, was even sneakier, all because he wanted to sleep with her. His extreme confidence that he could have her in his bed for as long as he wanted her, then just walk away when the secret was out just made me mad. He did start to grow on me as his attitude changed.
The development of their relationship was fiery to say the least. There is no doubt that they are attracted to each other from the moment they meet. Colt is determined to get her into his bed and makes no secret of it. Annabelle is equally determined to resist him. There is some fantastic banter between them as Colt pushes and she resists. What Colt doesn't expect is to be impressed and moved by Annabelle's care for her father and her girls. There are some really sweet scenes where his growing feelings for her and the girls are evident. The more time he spends with her, the guiltier he feels about what he is doing, but he suppresses that guilt to continue with his plan. As Annabelle spends more time with Colt, she begins to see a different side to him than the ruthless businessman she first encountered. She's moved by his obvious love for his family, and her heart melts seeing him with her girls. She knows she's falling for him and hopes that he feels the same. But when bad timing reveals the truth of the fate of her home, his betrayal cuts deep. I ached for her and her pain, and loved seeing her tear into him for what he did. Only when it was too late did Colt realize what he had thrown away. It was really satisfying to see his brother point out what an idiot he was and give him some good advice. Colt's big moment was pretty sweet as he laid out his heart for her in hopes of her forgiveness.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. Though all the brothers are different, there still seems to be a solid core of love among them. We only hear a little bit about Colt's twin, Beau, and the military brother, Hayes, but the oldest brother Nolan is fully present. I liked his attempts to talk sense into Colt, giving him the benefit of his own experience. I ached for his loneliness and regrets over the mistakes of his past, and am looking forward to his story.
I will say I was a little confused by the title and blurb. There was nothing secret about the two little girls. The only real secret was that which Colt was keeping from Annabelle.

Twin Secrets by Jules Bennett is the story of Annabelle, a woman dealing with the loss of her sister, her ex-fiance, and possibly her childhood home all at once. Back home and now guardian to her twin nieces, her father’s gambling debts have seriously jeopardized her plans to turn that childhood home into a bed and breakfast. An arrangement with their neighbor, wealthy rancher Colt Elliott has kept them from complete bankruptcy. He’s paid off the bank loan in return for regular payments from Annabelle’s father, but in truth her father can’t pay them either. Annabelle plans to get a job to pay off Colt but he offers her one on his ranch, with an ulterior motive – he’s attracted to her feisty nature and hopes she’ll end up in his bed. There’s more than one secret between them though, and as they grow closer so do the odds of being found out. Will they make it to a happy ending?

I have to give credit to the author for writing a story that provoked such strong emotions in me while I read it. The problem is the strong emotions were frustration and anger!
Our "hero", Cole, is a heavy handed jerk and while that typically doesn't bother me, his transformation didn't come fast enough and so it made the HEA less believable. Our poor heroine has so many problems that have been dumped on her, you can't help but feel sorry for her. Then to be treated as she was by our hero - sigh. The ending felt too rushed and I felt like she forgave and moved to the HEA way too fast given all he did.
That said - I am intrigued by Cole's brother Nolan and look forward to his book.

Colt and Annabelle are very well developed individuals with unique personalities as are the characters in the novel. Jules Bennett has a talent for putting together scenes that move quickly and smoothly and captures the readers interest from the very opening chapter and hold it until the very end. Her words draw mental images in the mind of the reader so that the story seems to be more of a telling of true events. If you like tender romance with a touch of contention then you too will love "Twin Secrets"

4 stars. Loved this. Annabelle was a fantastic character. I loved her spirit and her determination. She knew what she wanted and she worked hard. She knew how to hold her own, especially against Colt. Colt was a handful. Not gonna lie, I wasn’t too keen on him at first but he definitely grew on me the more the story went on. I ended up loving him just as much. I wanted to smack him for his stubbornness but he came to his senses and it was wonderful. Their relationship developed really quickly but I found that that didn’t bother me at all because I believed in their chemistry. The ending was sweet and the epilogue sets up for the second book really well. I can’t wait to read it as it follows Colt’s brother, Nolan, and I liked his character from the little bit of him that was in this book.

This was a very good read and a great start to a new series. I loved this story from the very beginning to the very end. The storyline was interesting. It was also a very emotional read at least it was for me. Colt was playing with fire and in the end he will get burned. He was playing with someone’s livelihood with someone’s feelings and it would not end good. Now as for Annabelle she was a very strong woman and after what she had already been through. When she told her story I felt so bad for her and I wanted for her to have a happily ever after. It took so much courage and trust for her to open her heart again to a man. He was very sweet and they made a perfect couple but he needed to right things in order for them to have everything they ever wanted.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

An Ok Read, But I Would Have Appreciated And Thought More Of It If Colt Wasn’t Out To Seduce Bella While She Was So Vulnerable. Right Out Of A Broken Heart When He’s Just After Sex Is Low. One Minute It’s Sex And The Next Minute He Loves Her Was A Quick Wrap Up. And Then Have The Epilogue Be In The Same Breathe As The Ending Was A Real Let Down. A Good Story To Pass A Rainy Day, If You Put Aside The Plot.

I loved this story. I found myself not wanting to put it down. This was a quick read and never seemed to drag.
Annabelle has been through so much yet she keeps bouncing back. What will finally push her over the edge? Colt is all about family but is he willing to extend his family?
I really enjoyed reading their story and I hope we get to read about the other Elliott men.

A solid, sexy story from Jules Bennett. Colt and Annabelle were at odds from the beginning, and based on the circumstances who could blame Annabelle for her hatred. But sometimes attraction is a little too hard to deny. I would have liked to see more about their deepening relationship and stretched the book out a little more, but it was a great ending. Can't wait to read the next one.

It took me a while to start this book. Just a feeling that once I started I'd not be able to put it down. I was totally correct! Jules Bennett really nailed it with this story. Two strong characters, chemistry and a massive conflict. Check out this book it's an excellent read.

Once again Jules has given us another amazing series to fall in love ❤️ with! I could hardly put this one down once I started & could have finished in one sitting if not for " life stuff"! Colt , the bossy rancher, was on mission once he met Annabelle regarding debt repayment & trying to bed her! He unfortunately had no idea he'd met his match as far as Annabelle was concerned! This book was crazy fun to read because of the wonderful chemistry between the two characters & the fact that BOTH WERE so determined to do what was best for their families respectfully! I've got to say the BIG UNFOLDING in the end was a bit of a tear jerker but so well worth it for their HEA! I'm SO looking forward to the rest of the brothers stories yet to come ! Well done Jules!

I liked the cover of this book 📕. I liked Annabelle's character. I felt sorry for Annabelle. I loved ❤️ twins, they were adorable. I didn't like Colt. I liked the ending.

Kicking off "The Rancher's Heirs" series, Jules Bennett draws us in immediately with the sorrow we are feeling for this woman who is struggling to pick up the pieces of her life, and she continues to take us on a ride of romance, laughter and happily-ever-afters! She sets the stage well for the future stories, and leaves us ready to jump into Nolan & Pepper's story! I can't wait to see what's next.

I have to say I always get excited when Mrs. Bennett starts a new series. And I have to say I was super excited when I saw this series was going to be about brothers who are Ranchers.
I loved everything Colt Elliott. Colt is the youngest boy of the Elliott brothers, and the youngest of his twin brother. He is also the only brother who decided to keep on with the family tradition of running the huge Ranch his family owns. He also wants to prove to his family that he can continue his ailing father's dream of opening and dude ranch. And he feels like the only way to do that is to grab his neighbors land and house. But he hits a snag when Annabelle returns to save her family land and house.
I really liked Annabelle. She has returned home after her sister and fiancée passed away. And to also try and save her home and land that her mother had wanted to turn into a bed and breakfast. She's also taking care of the twins that had been left to her. Annabelle had a tough and sassy side, but at the same time sweet and caring.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed Annabelle and Colt. And I loved the banter between them. I can't wait to see more of Nolan Elliott and get to meet the other Elliott brothers.

Twin Secrets is the first book in Jules Bennett’s The Rancher’s Heir series. I absolutely fell in love with both Annabelle and Colt. They are both strong characters that will do anything in their power to achieve the dreams of their parents. Of course, they both encounter their own issues along the way as they search for their happily ever after. Twin Secrets was Ms. Bennett at her finest. I highly recommend reading this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I’d like to disclose that I received an advanced copy of Twin Secrets and this is my honest review.

What a great start of a new series by Jules Bennett!! Twin Secrets is book #1 in The Rancher's Heir series. Having been betrayed by her fiance' and sister, Annabelle Carter moves back home to the family ranch with her twin nieces, who she now has guardianship of, to open a Bed and Breakfast that was her deceased mother's dream. Little did Annabelle know that rancher neighbor Colt Elliott wants the family ranch to fulfill his father's dream of a Dude Ranch. When Annabelle arrives home she finds out her father borrowed money from Colt and she approaches Colt about paying off the debt not knowing the contents of the papers her father signed. Get this book to see how Annabelle tries to pay off the debt and how Colt and Annabelle"s relationship evolves. This book has it all betrayal, great family dynamics, 2 adorable babies and romance. Check it out, I am sure you will not be disappointed, I wasn't!!

I have to admit that I wanted to throttle Colt at first. His arrogance and the fact he outright withholds important information from Annabelle just made me want to reach through the pages and smack him. But the more I read the more I started to understand why and started to forgive him. And forgiveness for me is hard. But Colt did own his mistakes in the end and definitely wooed me in the process.
Annabelle is a force to be reckoned with. She's a new mom to twins and is trying like hell to help her dad with his addiction. And on top of that she is also trying to grieve the loss of not only her fiancée but her sister and possibly the home she grew up in. She doesn't want to fall for Colt because he is trying to take the home she hold dear away. My favorite line without having to give too much away is Colt asking her Who broke your heart. Her response was simple yet with a very hard impact, Who hasn't. She's a fighter and she loves fiercely. I admire the hell out of that.
The banter between these two are fun and entertaining too. And the pace of the story perfect. I seriously recommend this book.

Found this to be a really interesting read! Two lonely individuals, both strong willed and determined, develop a growing attraction to one another as secrets are revealed. Can they overcome all the obstacles to find true happiness? Really enjoyed this book, you will too!

This is the first book in Jules Bennett's new series. I must admit I wasn't a big fan of Colt at the beginning, but he did redeem himself rather quickly. Poor Annabelle. She has gone through everything and anything, The people she's loved the most have let down more times then she can count. Now in charge of little Lucy and Emily she has a new purpose and the courage to keep going. She wants nothing to do with Colt, but she's in a desperate situation and working for the enemy is the only way to get back on solid ground. The redeeming quality for me on Colt is the wall around his heart gets chipped away a little at a time by Annabelle. The only question is will the rug be pulled out from under Annabelle one more time? Will this be the crushing blow? What Colt does at the end will win anyone over, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and to see the next brother to fall.
