From Little Scholastic comes this innovative and interactive first seasons board book.
Ages: 0-2

This bright, tactile board book celebrates a first encounter with the most cheerful season: spring! Bold, simple illustrations and textures show what a child first sees, hears, touches, and feels. And no matter how windy or wet it may be outside, this child ends up safe and dry in Mommy's arms. The second in this series of four seasonal offerings.

The Little Scholastic books are ones that our children and their friends love. On the covers they say baby to 2, and that they are touch and feel books. But our daughter who is 3 still loves them, especially reading them with her little brother. The book is full of shapes, textures and flaps. In this one, the reader encounters silky flowers, fuzzy birds, shimmery raindrops, rubbery boots and a flap to put away an umbrella. Bright, colorful with simple fun illustrations, this is a great little book.

Welcome Spring by Jill Ackerman, illustrated by Nancy Davis is a board book look at Spring and the five senses, with texture highlights.

Davis' bright, simple illustrations contain textures that will appeal to babies and toddlers. Smell, hear, feel and touch are key text words. This seems appealing for the target audience. 2.5 stars.

As touch-and-feel books go, this one isn't all that spectacular (most pages don't seem to have much texture at all). That said, for some reason Devin just LOVES it, and giggles his way through, requesting this one every day. I think we will be ordering the rest of the seasons from amazon since he gets such a kick out of this one.

Short board book about the new season of Spring. (It is a touch and feel book.) The characters are a mom and daughter. I liked linking the sentences to the different body parts - smell the flower, touch your nose, etc.

2016 storytime theme: baby spring
