Now engaged to another man, Fin had long ago given up on the dream of a life with Jeremy. Why is it, then, that her fake engagement feels more genuine than her real one? I do not usually like second chance romance where there has a)been a long separation, b)each person had other partners, and c) one or both has a loser current partner. But I won this in a giveaway (yay) and Cindy Kirk is one of my favorite authors. I liked it but didn't love it but that is because of the reasons stated above. It was sweet and cute and I loved the Grandmother but it didn't give me the feels at the end. I will read more books in the series and I will even re-read this because I have been in a book slump lately and I haven't really liked any of the books I've read this month. So it's a case of it's not the book, it's a case of more likely me. I do want to say I wish I lived in a town like Good Hope. I loved it and I can't wait to read more of the stories. Even if I am out of order.
This is my favorite small-town romance series - I love the Bloom family and even more, I love the town of Good Hope. People aren't perfect, but they are (mostly) nice, and it just seems like such a neat place to live.
This story focuses on Fin, who revisits her roots in order to help persuade the town to forgo normal Christmas celebrations in favor of money and the chance to be a movie set. I was a bit worried because the blurb describes basically a love triangle, but the triangle wasn't really an issue - hooray! Finn has a past with the town mayor, and I liked their chemistry all the way through the story. I also like that even the annoying characters have some redeeming qualities.
I received this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks netgalley - it was a fun read!
Once again we visit the small town of Good Hope where the Bloom sisters, Primrose, Marigold, Amaryllis, and Delphinium grew up. This is Delphinium, or Fin's, story. She's smart, she's strong, and she's willing to do just about anything to help out friends and family. Which is how she ends up "engaged" to former flame, Jeremy, now the mayor of the town.
Fin has returned to her hometown, along with her boss, Xander, to scout out the area in the hopes of setting a movie there. However, they hit a snag when the citizens of Good Hope vote against Xander's proposal thus eliminating any chance he had of using the town and its location. For one thing, shooting would take place over the month of December, including Christmas, when the town is busy with all its traditional holiday activities. Some of these activities draw people from all over the country who come to take part. Not to mention how much the festivities mean to the residents, themselves. Even so, the vote was close. So close, Jeremy ended up casting the tie breaking last vote, which happened to have been against the project.
Xander, naturally, is not a happy camper over the outcome. He wants Good Hope to be the setting for his his film and isn't about to take no for an answer. Fin, his assistant AND girlfriend, once dated the mayor, Jeremy, a fact Xander thinks he can use to his advantage. After proposing to Fin in a totally uncharacteristic move for him, Xander then persuades Fin to stay in town for the next month while doing her best to change people's minds about the vote.
Fin was taken totally by surprise when Xander slid a huge engagement ring on her finger and told her he wanted them to get married. Yes, they'd been dating for awhile but as far as she could recall, the subject of marriage had never been raised. Now they were engaged? And typical Xander, before Fin even has a chance to think about what just happened, he picks up and heads to his next destination, leaving Fin with the monumental task of convincing certain people they needed to come around to Xander's way of thinking.
In the meantime, Jeremy is trying to convince his grandmother to have the heart surgery she desperately needs in order to save her life. The elderly woman has thus far refused, leaving Jeremy beside himself with worry. Then Grandma Ruby sees Fin's engagement ring and mistakenly believes Jeremy was the one who proposed and that finally Fin and Jeremy are back together just like they were meant to be. Ruby agrees to the surgery because she doesn't want to miss their wedding. Reluctantly, at first, Fin and Jeremy, agree to go along with a fake engagement as long as it means Ruby will have the operation. Then when the old gal gets some of her strength back they'll break up, Fin will go back to California, and Ruby will be none the wiser.
The best laid plans of mice and men . . . ? Things don't exactly work out as they expected and pretty soon the entire town thinks they are engaged. Fin ends up moving in with Jeremy in order to help take care of Ruby, who is hastily planning the wedding. Being in such close proximity every day, Fin and Jeremy start talking, ironing out their rather rocky past while slowly realising they may have a future together after all.
This was a truly delightful read. I love happy endings and this one didn't disappoint. It was pretty obvious from the start Jeremy had never gotten over Fin. Now, to possibly have a second chance was more than he could ask for. I don't know how to describe their relationship except to say it just felt natural, like it was always meant to be. The way they so easily joined forces to help Ruby, the lack of any awkwardness when they were together, the genuine way they treated one another, no phony facade, no putting on airs to impress one another. They just clicked. It was as simple as that and a real credit to the author for so smoothly making it seem that way. I also love the small town setting where everyone looks out for one another and if there's a need they all pitch in to help. I really enjoyed returning to Good Hope and reconnecting with everyone there. I'm looking forward to reading more about the Bloom sisters should the author decide to continue with the series.
Note: I was given a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
Cindy Kirk, returns to the town and people of Good Hope for the fourth time, to finally give us Delphinium Bloom and Jeremy Rakes’s story.
Forever in Good Hope has been a book, that for this reader is a long time coming, Fin and Jeremy’s story of first love and loss has been teased all through the previous three books as each Bloom sister has met and fell for her man, and I was looking forward to seeing how the author would handle their reconnection.
The history she and this man shared was something forever woven through the fabric of her life...
I am going to be honest and say the whole faux-engagement, faux-relationship trope for me has been done to death over the last couple of years, and while occasionally I still get some enjoyment from it, on the whole it has become a bit of a struggle. This one was very much a struggle, and I think mainly because it took a supposedly intelligent woman, and man, and turned them into liars, and they didn't really need to have been. Fin’s actual fiancé; Xander, was an absolute tool, and I have no idea why the author decided it was a good idea to keep that charade up as well as then bring on the second charade with her then pretending to be engaged to Jeremy to some but not all of the Good Hope residents.
No one, especially not some Pompous Ass Hollywood director, could love her as much as he did.
Fin and Jeremy had enough skeletons in their closet to deal with, without all the added hoopla to be honest and I kind of feel a bit miffed that this was the story they got, I understand that Grandmother Ruby’s involvement was some part of the reason, but it just didn’t work for me as a long drawn out plot-point.
"Hurts can be healed if you start off with the two most powerful words in a relationship."
On the plus, it was great to go back to Good Hope the town and it’s residents are firmly ingrained now, and it was good to get to know Eliza Shaw more, and the progression of the rest of the Bloom family in general. I hope that the author has more stories to tell with this town and its inhabitants in mind as I really do enjoy my visits, the writing as always was stellar, it was just the story-line that let things down for me on this occasion.

I am so happy to have the chance to read this beauty ...if you are looking for a great series, with awesome fun characters please check this series out. I love how positive Cindy Kirk is ... I know each of her characters has such past (some not so happy) but all-around great read, happy & HEA endings. This is one that will have you stuck in your seat wish to read more at the ending. I read books like this hoping for or wishing I could visit the well knitted town, Good Hope, Wisconsin. I love this cover, I am such a fan of anything fall related. I love 2nd chance romances, don't you??! I know some day this series will end ... but I look forward to another read from Cindy very very soon. There are so many laughable moments. Such a great read .. can I pick a favorite sister or favorite book so far? The Bloom sisters: Amaryllis "Ami", Primrose "Prim", and Delphinium "Fin". If it is cool to pick ... I am going with Fin ... something about her I just connected with more than the other sisters. That is my reasoning for making this my top 5 star rating, 'cause it was my fave and please know that it doesn't make the other 3 any less in appeal ... just for me personally it take the cake in the whole series. Such a great series, one that will pull ya in and you will be please, happy & just all cozy to continue reading ... why not start it asap. You will be so happy, I know I am glad I got into Cindy's writing style. Such a fan. Must read!! ( ;
Forever in Good Hope is an emotional, thoughtful variation second chance at love romance. The characters, the romance and the small town setting drew me into this well- paced story. Cindy Kirk’s descriptive voice and honest dialogue are spot on in this novel where the forgiveness, trust and love are explored.
Delphinium ‘Fin” Bloom has returned to Good Hope because her boyfriend, Xander Tillman, is interested in filming a movie in her hometown. However, the film’s shooting schedule would take place during the month of December; forcing the town to forego its traditional holiday festivities. Many treasured events including the popular Twelve Nights celebration would have to be cancelled or postponed. Mayor Jeremy Rakes cast the deciding vote against the proposal. But, Xander is used to getting his way. He has tasked Fin with trying to convince the town board members and local merchants to vote in favor of the proposal at a second meeting. Childhood sweethearts Jeremy and Fin agree to a phony engagement when Jeremy’s grandmother, Ruby, suffers a heart attack. Their engagement gives Ruby the incentive she needs for her surgery. . I enjoyed the scenes where Ruby played matchmaker and arranged premarital counseling for Fin and Jeremy and helped plan their wedding—these scenes were cleverly written and added an element of humor to the story. The chemistry between the couple sparks and their relationship becomes romantic. As she spends more time with Jeremy, Fin realizes what is missing in her relationship with Xander and she begins to appreciate and value the man Jeremy has become.
Fin shares a secret with Jeremy, something that she had not shared with her sisters or friends. Jeremy is deeply affected by the secret. Cindy Kirk hinted that Fin was hiding something from her past during the novel. The unveiling of the secret and Jeremy’s reaction were key elements in the couple’s journey and were perfectly written. Loved the conclusion to this heart felt story as it had several unexpected surprises for Jeremy and Fin! Cindy Kirk has created a fabulous cast of characters in this series and I am looking forward to the next Good Hope novel!

Fin and Jeremy ...
Fin had a secret that she felt she could not share. This secret tore her from Jeremy when he left for college. The secret changed her in ways that kept her from loving others. It lead to her to have surface relationships, everything on the surface and no real emotion. Enter Xander her maybe fiance' ... no emotions, no caring, just existing in each others lives without ever really interacting.
Jeremy never stopped loving Fin. She would always be the one for him, he tried to move on but it didn't work. He made himself a nice life in Good Hope and he was happy. BUT he was even happier when Fin agreed to stay on in Good Hope to help Xander with a project. Of course Xander leaves town and encourages Fin to do what it takes to get the project approved.
Then there is Grandma Ruby. Oh I love Ruby. She is very ill and needs open heart surgery but won't agree ... until the day Jeremy and Fin visit her in the hospital. Start the games ... Jeremy and Fin do whatever it takes to get Ruby to agree to the surgery.
I'll leave the rest for you to enjoy ... because this book is sweet (you'll fall in love with Jeremy, I promise) and fun and it is so heartwarming to catch up with all the other sister and their husbands!
I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. This is the story of Delphinium (Fin) Bloom and her trip back to Good Hope after living in LA for years after leaving home at 18. This is the fourth book in this series. I loved getting to know Fin better. She comes back to Good Hope at the insistence of her Hollywood director fiance to have her help sway the town towards letting him film in their town. It comes down to her ex highschool boyfriend's vote. Being near Jeremy, her ex highschool sweetheart, brings up long lost, buried feelings and secrets. However, Fin finds that with family you can overcome anything. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a new series. Great, clean, family values and romance book. I really hope this isn't the last one in the series, I love spending time with the Bloom family.
I was looking forward to Fin's story, finding out what her history was with Jeremy and what would bring her back to Good Hope. She tried so hard to make herself believe she belonged in LA. I wanted to shake her and make her see what she had in Good Hope. She eventually figured it out and that Jeremy was waiting for her. I enjoyed visiting the family and town again and happy to see the last Bloom sister find her prince. I was left wondering what Fin was going to do as that was never addressed but perhaps I'll find that out in a layer book in the series.
Great second chance romance! I've really enjoyed all the Good Hope books and this one is no exception. Delphinium “Fin” Bloom returns to Good Hope to try and convince the mayor to allow the company she works for to shoot on location in Good Hope. The fact that the mayor is Fin's high school sweetheart shouldn't be a problem. Right??? Through in the fact that they somehow get caught up in a fake engagement and the hilarity begins.
This is a fantastic small town romance that had me swooning, smiling, and at times tearing up. Just an all around nice read. I highly recommend this one.
The best way to sum up Forever in Good Hope is simple. The best thing I never knew I needed. Small town living, lovable characters and a hard to resist love story. Let's not forget Xander, the clueless slug and the beauty of second chance romance. From beginning to end, Ms. Kirk delights and satisfies with her sentimental walk down memory lane.
Another cute story in the little town of Good Hope. I found it difficult to believe, however, that Fin would be so naive and willing to settle for an insensitive jerk like Xander. She was a strong personality and her agreeing to marry such a manipulative man just didn’t seem to mesh with her character.
I absolutely love this series! This second chance story for Jeremy & Finn started out as a fake engagement to please an old lady turn out to be what was meant to be - true love finding its way back together.
Forever in Good Hope is the 4th book in the Good Hope series by Cindy Kirk. Good Hope is a town in Wisconsin that boasts small town charm and the delightful appeal of family, friends, romance, and holiday fun! The series is about 4 sisters, each journey to a happily ever after. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it. Delphinium (Fin) Bloom, is all about her LA lifestyle and working in book-to-screen adaptations. She returns home to Good Hope and is accompanied by her producer boyfriend, both on a mission to convince the town to let them film during the month of December, thus delaying all the Christmas festivities. In a town like GH, residents and guests thrive on the celebrations and events that run during the holidays, so convincing the board and the mayor, Jeremy Rakes, is anticipated as a difficult task. Speaking of Jeremy! The beloved mayor and Fin share a romantic history, so being reunited generates some feelings that have never really gone away. And oh is it a joy to read! I truly enjoy second chance romances, and we've heard snippets of Jeremy and Fin in previous books so their relationship always had me curious. There are many circumstances in GH that tug Fin's heart strings - her sister Ami's new baby arrival, her sister Prim's pregnancy announcement, Jeremy's grandmother's heart operation, and her "fake" engagement to Jeremy - all cause her to question her existence in LA, her "real" engagement to boyfriend Xander, and what really holds importance and depth in her life. She's afraid to feel too much, afraid to fall, afraid of many things. Oh, could I relate to that! Jeremy, for one, is determined to keep Fin in GH and in his life, determined to show her she belongs with him in the town they grew up in. Can Fin shed her old life and follow the road laid out for her, the road back to home? A heart warming and truly engaging story! Happy Reading!
After waiting for Fin and Jeremy's story, I am very disappointed with it. The whole fake engagement was ridiculous, Good Hope is a small town where every one knows everyone and their business, so you can't tell me that the residents wouldn't know that Fin had a boyfriend from LA for the past year. There was so much unnecessary dialogue. The story just waffled on, and it was just a bit too sickly sweet for me.
MS KIRK HAS CREATED ANOTHER WONDERFUL TIME IN GOOD HOPE
Delphinium “Fin” Bloom has returned to Good Hope on a mission. Xander, (also known as The Pompous Ass) a very ambitious man, wants Fin to change the mind of the town council. If the vote changes, a movie company will come into town and their filming will prevent the town from having all the normal Christmas celebrations. He wants Fin to use her wiles on the mayor, Jeremy Rakes. When they were young, Fin and Jeremy were in love. Xander also believes that Fin's connections in town will change the votes of other members of the council. Fin has been gone from town for a very long time. Her history has made it important to her that she stay away from a place which holds many unhappy memories. Fin is part of a family of 4 girls, Amaryllis, Primrose and Marigold. The other 3 sisters have made their homes in Good Hope and established marriages with men who treasure them. Fin has become engaged to Xander but she has no illusions that she will be in a marriage of the same depth of love as her sisters'. Xander has returned to Los Angeles and he has given Fin instructions to do whatever it takes to turn the votes around to support his film project. Jeremy's grandmother Ruby needs heart bypass surgery. She has chosen not to have the surgery so Fin and Jeremy come up with a plan. They will let her believe they are engaged and after the surgery, they will tell her the truth. What could possibly go wrong? This is the fourth book in the Good Hope series and the second book I have read. It works as a stand alone read. Because there are many characters in the book, at first it takes focus to get every relationship straight but it quickly becomes easy to follow along and enjoy the characters. Good Hope is a place where everyone knows everyone else. It is populated by people who are truly caring and who are willing to go the extra mile to do good in their community. When a child is in the midst of cancer treatment the entire town gets together to provide her one wish – an early Christmas. The devotion to detail and the joy each person gets from participating in this special event makes the reader feel as though they are part of the decorating committee. Life in Good Hope is not always perfect. People have problems and difficulties in life. Some people are less than likable. But, there is a warmth and caring which even involves some of those not so likable characters. Fin's homecoming has presented her with memories and emotions she has stored away for many years. She has created herself as a capable and ambitious woman who has little or no emotion for life's ups and downs. Her former feelings for Jeremy are bubbling to the surface. She is seeing him as the good man he is. Comparing him to Xander, leaves it quite evident that Xander lacks nearly any humanity or integrity or affection or any good qualities. Jeremy has never gotten past his feelings for Fin. He hopes that this fake engagement will possibly be an opening to remind Fin of what they had and what could be again. Jeremy's courting is aided by the entire town. It does not take long for Fin to fall into the pattern of connection and affection for the town and its citizens. All the love she had for this town and these people, when she grew up here, is brought back to her. If Good Hope were a real town, people would want to move there immediately. Even the cold winters in Wisconsin would not deter the desire to become a part of this town. Ms Kirk has created a cast of characters who provide warmth and depth and a great deal of entertainment. Once you start reading, it will be difficult to pause for any reason. I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am writing this review voluntarily and all opinions are my own.
Cindy Kirk has once again delivered with Forever in Good Hope, the fourth book in her Good Hope series. Each book in the series is based upon one of the Bloom sisters, and this one tells the story about Fin (Delphinium).
Fin Bloom has finally landed her dream job as a development executive, and is working for a company in Los Angeles called Entertainment Quest. The company focuses on book-to-screen adaptations, and is currently looking for a location to shoot their upcoming film. Her boss and soon-to-be-fiance, Xander Tillman, has asked Fin to go with him to Good Hope, Wisconsin...which just happens to be Fin's hometown. Xander is hoping to get the mayor to approve the location shoot. Did I mention that Fin has a history with the mayor? Things do not go the way Xander hoped they would, and he persuades Fin to stay in Good Hope...hoping that she will convince people to change their minds and their votes.
Jeremy Rakes is the mayor of Good Hope, and he is also the person that cast the deciding vote against approving the location shoot. He knows Fin will not be happy about it, but he had to do what is best for the town. He could not let his feelings cloud his judgement. However, that is exactly what he ends up doing. His grandmother, Ruby, has suffered a heart attack and needs surgery...surgery that she keeps putting off. Ruby has always loved Fin, and when she notices Fin's engagement ring, she thinks that Jeremy has finally proposed to Fin. She is extremely happy, especially since she always felt they were meant to be together. This gives her a reason to finally have the surgery because she wants to be there for the big wedding. Jeremy doesn't have the heart to tell her that he's not the one engaged to Fin, and he convinces Fin to carry on with the fake engagement until Ruby has her surgery. As we all know, things seldom go as planned....
Fin and Jeremy's story has been briefly mentioned in each of the previous three books, and the author gave just enough information to keep the reader wanting more. Now that all has been revealed, I must admit it was definitely worth the wait! Their chemistry was just as obvious as their unresolved feelings for one another. Family plays an important role with both of the lead characters, which is why Fin agreed to the fake engagement in the first place...she loves Ruby as if she was part of her own family.
Overall, this is another great addition to the Good Hope series! Cindy Kirk perfectly captures the feel of Good Hope, as well as its residents. This is a story about family, lost love and second chances. Wonderful characters, a warm and inviting setting, and a perfectly balanced storyline (with a few added twists) make this a fabulous and heartwarming read. The one thing I love about this series is being able to revisit with the previous characters from the other books in the series. Each book can be read as a standalone, however, I strongly recommend reading the previous books so you can get the full story on all of these amazing characters.
I would like to thank Montlake Romance and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
Good Hope series:
Book #1: Christmas in Good Hope Book #2: Summer in Good Hope Book #3: Be Mine in Good Hope Book #4: Forever in Good Hope
I was given an advance reader copy of Forever in Good Hope in exchange for an honest review. I was thrilled to have another Good Hope book to read and specifically waiting until my summer vacation started. It was easy to slip right back into the world of Good Hope and into the lives of the Bloom sisters. This time around, the book centers around Fin Bloom.
Fin Bloom is back in Good Hope only temporarily. Her Hollywood exec boyfriend is trying to get the town to approve a movie shoot for the upcoming Christmas season. When the proposal is voted down, he leaves Fin in her hometown with instructions to enjoy a little more time with her family, but to convince the town and the mayor (her first love) to reconsider the proposal. At first this doesn't seem like such a bad idea, but things quickly become complicated when Fin finds herself pretending to be engaged to her ex and first love, Jeremy Rakes- Mayor of Good Hope.
One of my favorite things about this series is how easy it is to relate to the struggles of the characters. Not only that, Good Hope is the sort of town I relate to and recognize in many ways having grown up in a small town myself. I know I have made that point in other reviews of Good Hope books, but it bears repeating because Cynthia Kirk does such a splendid job in making small town life come alive in a way that is not forced and is completely believable. Some of the best parts of this book were the ways in which the secondary characters were brought back into the fold and being able to see them fully realized; I particularly loved how Eliza's arc from Book 1 through to Book 4 was slowly explored in a way that just felt satisfying by the end of this book. It was maddening at times to watch as Fin denied her better instincts about her real fiance when faced with Jeremy and all he was willing to do, but that made the ending even more satisfying.
Although I adore the Bloom sisters and have reread the other Good Hope books, I truly hope that Ms. Kirk continues to write about the characters that populate the town. There are still many stories untold and I would love to see how things play out with Hadley or Mindy and her dad, among others. I said this in my last review for Be Mine in Good Hope, but there is a distinct Maeve Binchy quality to the Good Hope books and I always look forward to another great and fun read.
I won this book from Goodreads. I have mixed feelings about this book. It was a sweet romance between Fin and Jeremy. I could feel the turmoil Fin was going through in trying to deal with her new fiancee Xander, her fake fiance Jeremy, and trying to do what is right. Fin is back home in Good Hope with her family and friends trying to convince the town in changing their minds about letting Xander film his movie there. Before going back to LA, Xander surprises Fin with an engagement ring. She doesn't know what she wants to do regarding Xander while she is also trying to figure out her feelings for Jeremy. Jeremy is happy that Fin is back and is determined to make her see that they belong together. For the past ten years, Fin has been living in LA and hardly came home at all. Now that she is back trying to do something for Xander, Fin is realizing everything she has missed out by being away. She had put all of these pressures on herself by trying to be somebody she really isn't. Jeremy knows that something isn't quite right with her and is trying to get her to tell him her secret. Every time Fin starts getting close to Jeremy, she uses her engagement to Xander as an excuse to put distance between them. When Fin finally decides to face the truth about her real feelings, she feels so much freer. She is hesitant in telling Jeremy what happened to her in high school because she is afraid of what he will think of her. When she does finally tell him, he is shocked and somewhat hurt, but it ends up bringing them closer together. When it comes time for the town of Good Hope to vote to allow Xander to film there, Fin shocks everyone in telling them what she thinks of the town and what they should do regarding the vote. I liked this book up until the end. It has been a really long time in which I have not been satisfied with the ending. It just left the story hanging and didn't really answer anything about what finally happened between Jeremy and Fin and her future. I'm very disappointed with the ending.
This is my favorite book series! Throughout the last four books, I have fallen in love with the Bloom sisters and the residents of Good Hope. If you have read the other Good Hope books, this book does not disappoint!
The Bloom sisters Marigold, Primrose, Amaryllis and Delphinium (Fin) return again for the fourth book in the Good Hope series. This story is Fin's. When Fin returns home to Good Hope, Wisconsin with her boss and boyfriend, Xander, to look for the perfect location for a movie, they are surprised when the residents of Good Hope vote against allowing the filming to take place in the town. Xander knows that the town's mayor is Fins ex-boyfriend, Jeremy. Xander believes that Fin can talk Jeremy and the residents who voted no on the filming location to change their minds if she stays in Good Hope. Before Xander leaves Good Hope, he asks Fin to marry him.
Jeremy's grandmother (Ruby) is sick and needs heart surgery; however, she keeps refusing to have the surgery done. When Fin comes to visit Ruby, Ruby sees Fin's engagement ring and believes that Fin and Jeremy are engaged. This perks up Ruby and she agrees to have the surgery so that she can be around for the wedding.
At first, Fin doesn't want to go along with the fake engagement; however, when she realizes that that is the only way that Ruby will have the life-saving operation, she decides that lying to Ruby is better than Ruby dying. Fin figured that once Ruby has the surgery and gets back on her feet, they can fake a breakup and Fin can return to Xander in California.
Fin agrees to move in with Jeremy and Ruby to help care for the old woman; however, with the "couple" being so close to one another gives them time to dredge up the past and begin working out their problems. Soon the two realize that destiny and love has united them once again.
* I received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I love the way Cindy Kirk described the bond and sister-love between the bloom sisters in her books. It is very well described. This book is the fourth in this series. It is a standalone but I recommend reading the previous three because it is easier to get the whole picture. I like that there are small updates on the couples from the previous books. This book has Fin and Jeremy as the main characters. Fin is the fourth sister in the Bloom family. She is coming to her home town because she has to get her ex-boyfriend Jeremy to approve of a location for a photo shoot. The make a deal to comfort his grandmother to fake an engagement. But that is never a good thing and in this case it is not difference. Jeremy thought it was easy to fake it but fate has another opinion about that. He wants her more and more in his life. Fin has a secret why she left Jeremy when they were young and that was a bit of a surprise in this story. I like that in spite of the secret Jeremy supports Fin.
I have two supporting characters that made this story even better. Jeremys grandma is such a nice and fun lady. I like her person really much. She gives the last push to the couple and also gives this story a bit more to it. Anita adds lots of laughs and sparks to the story and is absolutely an asset to it. I found Xander very annoying and selfish. Fin just had to see how he really was at some point.
Some of the previous characters develops through the story as well as Fin and Jeremy does.
I can only recommend this book if you like to read romance novels. This is not an erotic book but a romance novel. And a very well written one. There are a few steamy hot scenes but it is more about the romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
I loved the first Good Hope book, Chrismas in Good Hope, and was hooked since then. The books are fun and I enjoy knowing that the Bloom sisters are all going to end up happy with the men of their dreams. That being said, this wasn't my favorite book in the series, primarily because of the fake engagement based on a premise of lies. I felt like Jeremy was such an upstanding character (actually one of my favorite men of the series) that he wouldn't have gone along with the fake engagement as it totally goes against his character. I get that they did it so as not to upset Grandma Ruby, but I don't think that gives her enough credit, as she seems like a fun, spirited character who wouldn't have just curled up and died had Jeremy and Fin not gotten engaged.
Xander was beyond awful...Fin was way too good at heart for him, and she knew it, but getting her to the point of admitting it was painful! Her inherent strength and goodness of heart was another reason that the fake engagement just didn't resonate with me.
All in all I did enjoy this book just as I have enjoyed all of the Good Hope books. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, as I always find myself wishing I lived in a place like Good Hope. And fall is the perfect season for a new book to curl up with!
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author however; the review is my own opinion.
The Good Hope series is such a great series and Book 4 falls within the same tradition of great character development, easy to read, and a book any reader will enjoy however; this was not my favorite book in the series.
The plot to this book seemed almost forced unlike the other three. I was not impressed by the passive tone Fin had when dealing with her "boyfriend" as that did not seem like the spirit of the Bloom sisters that came before her. The spark and spirit they brought to the plots before were part of the enjoyment to the series, each sister finding her passion with those around them.
I did enjoy the dance Fin and Jeremy performed to get where they landed at the end of the book however; the book would have been more enjoyable with Fin more take charge and demanding of those in her life in my opinion.
Overall it was a good book that I would recommend to any reader, especially following along in the Good Hope series. I love the setting as I am close to Door County and it truly captures what it is like to be from the small communities up there. The problems I had with the book are merely personal as I like strong female characters and still give this book 4 stars as it was a good read.
Forever in Good Hope is the fourth book in this series, although it is not necessary to read the previous books, it is certainly the way I prefer to read series books. The setting is in a small town on Wisconsin's peninsula and this is the final Bloom daughter, Delphinium / Fin, to find her soulmate. The author paints the setting very well and I get the feeling that I am being wrapped in a hug as I read these stories. The author writes with a warm, cozy style but adds twists and turns to the plot as well as generous doses of humor. There are interesting touches like the 4 Bloom daughters are named after flowers (Amaryllis, Delphinium, Primrose, and Marigold). The soulmate comes as no surprise since it is foreshadowed in the three previous books but there is enough intrigue and instability added to the plot that you aren't sure everything will work out. It is nice that previous focal characters and recurring characters have roles rather than solely focusing on the two main characters for this book. I think the author did save the best for last when it came to telling Fin's story, but I am also happy to see several characters mentioned which may have their story told in future books. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is the 4th book in the Good Hope series. Delphinium “Fin” Bloom is the only sister that has not returned to Good Hope. She left when she was 18 for the big city, and was given the chance to stay home longer so she can help sway the town boards mind about voting so they can bring a movie there to film in winter, but would conflict with the Twelve Days of Christmas celebration. It was voted down once, but it's up to her to see that it's passed this second time.
Jeremy Rakes is Fin's first love, and also the mayor of Good Hope. Jeremy and Fin were together up until he left for college, but still never was for sure what went wrong. Jeremy's grandmother is ill, and needs surgery. Fin became engaged to Xander. Once Fin comes to see Jeremy's grandmother Ruby, Ruby assumes that it's Jeremy and Fin that's engaged when she sees the ring on Fin's finger. Fin plays along with it because she loves Ruby, and it's the only reason Ruby has agreed to have the surgery.
While at home Fin helps out with many different town functions, and remembers the meaning of living in Good Hope "Neighbor helping Neighbor." Needless to say as she grows closer with Jeremy, she sees how her and Xander are only compatible, but not "in love." Learning more about family, and letting out old secrets. Growing from the past and learning to lean on one another. This series whether you read them all or separate are terrific. You feel connected to the characters, and want to learn more about everyone you encounter. I will admit to crying.
I received this ARC copy of this book from the Author through NetGallery.
The book was great and you will need kleenex as you read the book. It is about Delphinium Bloom (Fin) and Jeremy Rakes. Two people who loved each other but parted and continued their lives in different cities. FIn lives in L.A. and dating a director, Xander Tillman, while Jeremy is the Mayor for Good Hope, the town Fin grew up in. Fin has come back to Good Hope with Xander to try to make a film during the Christmas Holidays, but the board has rejected the idea. Xander has to return to L.A. but Fin stays behind to spend time with her family, consisting of three sisters and their families and her father. Jeremy's grandmother (Ruby) must have a bypass surgery but is refusing. Fin has become engaged to Xander and Ruby sees the ring on Fin's finger and is happy that her grandson has proposed to his first love. As plans are being made, Fin becomes involved in community projects, while Xander wants her to do whatever it takes to change the boards mind into letting him film during the Holidays.
As time passes and Fin begins to realize that she is still in love with Jeremy, many things happen and if you want to know more. Buy the book and read it. You will really enjoy it.
Thank you for the priviledge of reading such a great book.
This is the fourth book in the Good hope series and the last of the bloom sisters stories. Fin has come back home to Good hope to convince the town to redo the vote of having her boyfriend Xander movie filmed in the town during christmas. This would mean the town would have to shut down the many christmas activities. As always as Fin coming home she has to see her ex boyfriend Jeremy who is now the mayor and who was the decided vote to ax the movie idea first time around. Xander who happens to be the director of the movie and Fin boyfriend has convinced Fin to return to good hope to have the city board and Jeremy that its in their best interest to have the production which will bring money to the town. What ensues is a little mayhem with Jeremy's grandmother thinking Jeremy and Fin is engaged after seeing a ring on Fin's hand that was given to her by Xander after he propose and Fin and Jeremy pretended to be engage to get his grandmother to have heart surgery. As with Kirk's Good hope series it brings the sense of family, having close friends and a town that truly looks out for one another. A wonderful addition to the series though the Bloom sisters have all found their happily ever after the series continues which is great for us fans. Was giving an arc by netgalley. (less)
