TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART
The fourth book in the Eagle Harbor series will come with so many emotions, including fear, heartache, loss, and new beginnings. Not everyone has faith in doctors, and the medical profession and not every doctor practices medicine the same way. For Lindy Marsden, her dealings with doctors have her fearing them and rightly so, but Dr. Seth Harrington is different, more forward thinking and stays up-to-date on procedures, cleanliness, and sterilization. The story’s message is as relevant today as it was in the eighteen hundred about God’s love, His word, and His desires for His children.
The town of Eagle Harbor has two doctors, but both with different views and methods. Dr. Greeley is archaic in his beliefs and Dr. Harrington, being younger, more recent to medical school, takes his Hippocratic Oath of ‘do no harm,’ seriously. He has proven he can set a compound fracture and save a limb where Greeley would rather amputate. There will be several incidences that will have these two butting heads.
For Lindy, she has watched her mother’s illness with her lungs and diagnosis of tuberculosis until she died, then Lindy’s own lung problems came with doctors who would bleed her until they nearly killed her. Her hopes in life were to be a teacher, have a husband who loved her, and has children, but she doesn’t believe that will ever happen, she has decided she is dying. But until that happens, she helps a young family of children that are hidden in a shack in the woods.
The plot will have an accident bring Dr. Harrington to help Lindy when she breaks a bone and then working to help her with her asthma. When she brings a young child with a high fever and seizures to him, they will be found together at his office late at night, but their reputations will have been harmed. “Maybe God wants you to heal both her soul and her body.” Marriage should clear up the nasty rumors, but his practice is still suffering. “We both know you did nothing wrong, and we both know God could have stopped this rumor from spreading, or from even starting in the first place, but He didn’t. Maybe He’s trying to teach you to have patience, or to have joy when things aren’t going your way.”
The town of Eagle Harbor will face several life and death situations, and not everyone can be saved, but Dr. Harrington will save more lives than will be lost. God will work in the hearts of several people during their darkest hours. “I suppose, if nothing else, all the suffering on earth gives us reason to hope for heaven. No suffering there, no pain or sorrow. We just have to endure the earth part first.” “We’re trusting God for our future. There was a reason he put us together.”
