Saving the world is about to bring unexpected benefits…

Unicorn Shifter Pierce Dyer has long been a man apart. He has given his life to protecting good shifters and holding back the enemies who would try to destroy them. Along the way, he’s given up on what matters most to him—a lifemate to love and be loved by. But when his latest mission unexpectedly brings an old flame, Aria Olsen, across his path, he starts to wonder if he gave up on love too soon. And when it turns out that Aria is the key to capturing the all-important dragon stone, Pierce begins to wonder if destiny is trying to tell him something.

Aria Olsen has spent the last ten years alone, and she’s not looking for a boyfriend. She’s especially not interested in rekindling an old romance with the man who broke her heart so badly that she hasn’t been able to love again since the day he left. But when she realizes that the fate of the entire shifter community depends on her helping Pierce Dyer find the dragon stone, she has no choice but to spend time with him. When she does, sparks fly between them once again—but Aria isn’t sure if she can forgive him for the past.

Will Aria find a way to let love heal old wounds? And can Pierce save the shifters and his own heart at the same time? Read this action packed shifter romance to find out. Discover a world of dragon shifters, unicorn shifters, tiger shifters, panther shifters, mountain lion shifters—and more!

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

As the attacks against our shifter group intensifies, the need to find the dragon stone becomes even more vital in the coming battle between good and evil shifters. They’ve found the necessary unicorn shifter in Pierce – now they must quickly find the stone. Following the clues uncovered by Griffin’s decoding abilities, Theo, Griffin and Pierce are headed to a set of caves in Greystone, a small town near San Antonio – a city that holds the best and worst memories for Pierce. It was there that a decade ago he’d found his love, his mate – and through foolish pride, arrogance and anger had lost her as well. Aria was heavy on his mind as he and his friends headed out on this mission.

From the description of the three strangers she’d served in the town’s tiny diner, Tom’s no good girlfriend was perfectly describing the love of her life, but why would Pierce be here? What mission could have possibly brought the unicorn shifter protector here? Two things were confirmed as she glanced down from the stage at Grey’s Bar – yes, Pierce was here handsome as ever, and yes – she still loved her mate with everything she had to give. That didn’t mean she’d forgotten the words they’d tossed at each other, or the lack of trust – but maybe, somehow fate could be kind for once. Wolves mated forever, she’d discovered the truth of that over the years – she figured she would soon find out exactly what her mate was doing here. And if she secretly prayed it included her, well a girl could dream.

Lone Star Unicorn was everything I’d hoped for… and so much more. Pierce and Aria were strong characters who had allowed angry words, lack of trust and immaturity to break them apart years ago. With the passage of time, and somewhat cooler heads they have to acknowledge the rightness of being together and the foolishness of the past. Yet, Pierce is a fierce protector and he still needs to learn the bittersweet lesson of trusting his mate to be as strong and powerful as he is.

The race to find the dragon claw stone intensifies, a narrow escape and an epic battle are yet to come. And still the story will not end here but the next one in this series releases in February 2017. I absolutely love this series – and if you enjoy Shifter Romance I would highly recommend that you get started on this series. You’ll be hooked in the most wonderful way.

Ten year trouble

I read this book trying really hard to figure out why the plot had not kept me hooked. I think I finally figured it out.
WARNING: spoilers if you continue reading.

Pros:
Hot Unicorn shifter hero (I mean how awesome is that, a male unicorn, don’t tell me you never wanted to pet one)

Strong, musically inclined, wolf shifter heroine. (Her name is even a musical term “Aria”)

Lovers tragically torn apart by a fight and misunderstandings.

A quest to find a magical object that will shift the balance in the fight between good and evil.

Cons:
The horrible fight that made them break up was....wait for it.... 10 years ago??? What? That must have been a horrible fight over something major, what was it over again? Nothing, yep pretty much nothing, but we are suppose to believe that they are fated mates and suddenly now they can’t live without one another. Except wait, they just lived 10 YEARS without one another. I believe this is the point where the story lost me. Their relationship plot line did not work for me because of the extensive time they spent apart for no reason.

Unfortunately, for me there was no getting over the 10 year separation, and it is to bad because the overall story was great. The quest, the battles, the intrigue was all fun and interesting, but the romance was a flop. If he could leave for 10 years when they have a fight because he didn’t call, how long will he leave when they fight over paying the credit card? I think that if he had only been gone for a year it would have been more believable, and I could have understood the quick turn around from mad to forgiveness, but after 10 years of stewing in their breakup, I just didn’t get it.

Loving tissue series!

Loving this series! Book 6 with book 7 and another whole set of books related to the CA redwoods dragons to go and can't be happier! Definitely a good author as I can skip the graphics sex scenes and not feel like I'm missing something.

Determined to help keep the humans and good shifters safe, unicorn shifter Pierce Dyer is willing to go with Griffin and Levi to search for the Dragon Stone. On their first stop to look for it, Pierce comes across a blast from the past in the form of his ex, Aria, whom he is sure is his life-mate. When they separated 10 years ago, both were wounded by the words said. Now Pierce must rely on Aria to help him get to the Dragon Stone, but will old feelings reemerge? Will Pierce be able to put aside his pride to admit that he needs Aria?

I think Pierce and Aria are my new favorite couple when it comes to this series. I loved how they weren't afraid to admit they were both wrong and how they were willing to battle together. Pierce put a lot of his faith in her with allowing her to battle, giving her the stone, and offering to leave his work. I love that Aria's only request really was to travel and help him with his missions. I think both of them at the point of being reunited were just ready to admit that either way they needed each other and that they needed to get over their pride from years before! Great story and I hope Levi gets his HEA! Can't wait to see what Sloane Meyers comes out with next!

3.5 Stars - This is book 6 in the Sifters in the Heart of Texas series. Pierce is a unicorn shifter who has teamed up with the rest of the gang from Persimmons Springs. A unicorn Shifter is a protector for Shifters and humans. While trying to find the Dragon Stone, he finds his ex-love Aria. Aria is a wolf shifter. These two have not seen each other in ten years. It was a nasty and bitter breakup. Now they must work together and along the way maybe some of the damage can be repaired.

This was pretty good.

Great

I loved Pierce when I first saw him in the other books and to see he finally has his life mate and the dragon stone has been found was wonderful. This book was great, so now what's the next adventure? Maybe protecting the town of Persimmons Springs from Rocco.

Unicorns do exists.

Great story. Two people finding each other. Family friend come together for a cause. Can't go wrong with that. But Sloane Meyers always makes that happen with her stories.
