Friends for much longer than they’ve been lovers, Taryn and Richard enjoy each other’s company while looking for “Mr. Right”. When they meet Caleb the attraction is instant and mutual–for all three.
Caleb wines and dines them then shows them how good it can be if they trust him to lead the way. One night is all it takes to prove that the three of them are a perfect match, at least in the bedroom.
Taryn has to decide if explosive sex and the feelings that are quickly overtaking her are worth the risk of losing it all - she knows only too well that you can’t count on fate to always go your way.
Richard sees Caleb and Taryn as the perfect couple - but isn’t so sure there will always be room for him.
Caleb has to suppress his urge to tie them both to the bed until they understand that they belong with him, - but if they don’t come around soon, he’ll be pulling those ropes out after all.
KB Alan lives the single life in Southern California. She acknowledges that she should probably turn off the computer and leave the house once in a while in order to find her own happily ever after, but for now she’s content to delude herself with the theory that Mr. Right is bound to come knocking on her door through no real effort on her own. Please refrain from pointing out the many flaws in this system. Other comments, however, are happily received through her email or website.
So, I'm in this reading challenge with NBRC where we get extra points for our team for reading the Books of the Month. This one was chosen for our 18+ group (NBRC Backroom) and as a mod I was watching the discussion, but not interested in the book as this is not a genre I read. Then the discussion was getting quite amusing as this book was clearly B-A-D. So, it was free on Kindle, there were points on offer, looked like a fun discussion... so off I went. Lordy. This book is best described as sex-toilet-eat-sex-toilet-eat. Oh, and say each-others names about 300 times. I've never read a book where the characters go to the loo and eat so much! As for plot. HA! Now, I know I am not an erotica reader, but everyone on the read (many of whom, are) felt the same way which is why I feel comfortable giving this 1 star, not recommending it to anyone, and giving it the honour of being the first book to be deleted from my kindle.
Huge amount of dirty talking, ordering around, dominating and having imaginative positions in the bedroom. On the other hand there is also a great amount of honest talking until Caleb, Richard and Taryn overcome worries and misinterpretations. The three of them will come to an understanding and they will create a family together. Enjoyable quick read, funny at sometimes, hot and sensual at other times.
I've had this ebook hanging out on my phone for a while, but for some reason kept passing it by. I think there was something about that summary that made me a little unsure if I would like it. Turns out I was wrong. This was a really well done book!
Series Note: No known series connections.
Summary: Taryn Moss and Richard Daniels have been best friends for years, and when both are single, they hook up for a little friends with benefits. Despite the fact that Richard generally prefers men. One night, the two are out having a few too many drinks when they run into sexy hunk Caleb Black. The attraction between the three is instantly sizzling. And it isn't long before Caleb is joining in for a bit of threesome fun.
What starts out as fun, though, grows to more. Caleb is the perfect fit for Taryn and Richard. Each wonders if maybe there could be more. But insecurities begin to rise, with each wondering if the other two will pair out and leave them alone. Throw in a someone who wants revenge on Richard and everything gets tense and confusing. It'll be up to them to work it all out so they can be together.
Review: I've read a lot of bi-menage books, and a lot of erotic romance. Some are good, some are so-so, and some are lousy. Some have the potential to be good but end up as cover-to-cover sex fests. I've read few erotic romances, and even fewer bi-menage books that manage to be super sexy hot and have a solid romance/storyline to go along with it. This was one of those books. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book.
Right from the start this book gets off on a good footing. I loved the beginning scene where Taryn and Richard have had a bit too much to drink when the run into Caleb. They think they must be dreaming because he's so hot and perfect for them. It was an amusing scene and lets you like the characters right off the bat.
Add in some sizzling hot chemistry between the three and you've got a winner. I liked all three of these characters. I don't always care for the friends-to-lovers storyline, but it mostly worked for this book. Though the whole thing about Richard being gay but sleeping with Taryn when he was single was little bit odd.
And I liked that I felt like the author really let us get to know these characters. Too often in some of these shorter erotic romance books the characters are treated a bit like sex objects just there to boink on page. But that wasn't the case in this book. The author did a good job of bringing Taryn, Richard and Caleb to life and making them feel like real people. That was a definite plus for me. I've read a few too many books lately where the characters have been severely underdeveloped.
The author also does really well at delving into some of the characters emotional issues. Taryn is a bit of a loner who tends to avoid connections and feels like she's not wanted. And during the story Richard worries that Caleb and Taryn will pair of and leave him out. Adding these facets really made the book feel more like a romance than some other erotic romances. It just made the book much more well-rounded and it made sure you didn't get drowned out on all the (really hot) sex.
Then there was also the little bit of suspense plot thrown in. Nothing too big, but just a little issue of something with a beef with Richard. It was really a necessary aspect of the story, but yet it fit in perfectly. It was another aspect that made the story more full-bodied.
Oh, can't forget all the smokin' hot sex, right? Cuz there was definitely some of that going on.
Pretty much every aspect of this book worked for me. It definitely qualifies as one of the better bi-menage stories that I've read. Not the best (that goes to Lorelei James's Rough, Raw and Ready), but definitely one of the top few. I'm glad I decided to read it!
WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, oral sex, anal sex, m/f, m/m, m/f/m, bi-menage HEA, toys, a bit of D/s, some bondage, clamps...but nothing really over the top
This was... excruciating. The flat characters, the boring and practically impossible positions, the non-existent plot... pardon me, there was a plot but it was dull and made little sense, not to mention the build-up to anything that could potentially have been interesting (but then never was) was also not present in this.
The positive: it was relatively short, and the back-and-forth commentary of the discussion of this Book of the Month was hilarious - and we all knew going in not to expect too much. In that sense, we were rewarded.
So many things were wrong with this, such as attitudes and views of characters and this even while certain interesting points were raised.
I enjoyed this for the most part. It started off really good, the progression made sense, foreplay was super hot but the actual sex was too tame for me as I'll explain later. At some point though, this became kind of a "meh" read for me and not sure I can pinpoint why.
Quick Rundown: Best Buds Chick and her Friend Dude (gay but bi for her) are currently between lovers/fuck buddies who are assisted by Dom Dude one night when they've gotten drunk and are trying to find a cab. Dom Dude is immediately attracted to the couple, numbers are exchanged, expectations are discussed and the menage begins. As the three get to know each other, a deeper relationship occurs with some issues of insecurity and a little trouble from a Big Bad. The question is, will these three be able to make a family unit or will certain factors keep them apart?
Characters: For the most part, I liked the characters pretty well. The chick is an orphan who grows up to be a loner who likes her space. The author deals with her issues very well and in a realistic manner. Friend Dude was done well enough though I felt he was more underdeveloped than the other 2 MC's. He was supposed to be a pediatrician but besides the loss of one of his kid patients, I didn't get any real impression on how being a doctor defined him. And he had a 70 year old patient as well so that was confusing. To me, he could have easily been an insurance agent but since his job was somehow related to the Big Bad in a random way, that's why he was made into a doctor. The Dom Dude was slightly more developed but I had trouble seeing him as bi-sexual and I think that was because we never got his background on how his sexuality evolved. The other 2 MC's sexual past was discussed but not Dom Dude's except for a mention of sex club that wasn't really enlightening. I certainly did buy the three as a polyamorous unit. The secondary characters were realistic though we missed out on how Friend Dude's family even knew that their son was all of a sudden in a polyamorous relationship- that was completely skimmed over. I like to give kudo's to the author for having a foodie cook who made something other than Fettuccini Alfredo or Lasagna. I can't tell you how many times I've read a book about a supposed gourmet/foodie cook who prepares these same two dishes like they're something brand new and amazing to experience.
Plot: Nothing new here but was still fairly interesting. The beginning couple chapters were excellent and I was charmed by the drunk couple scene and did not have a problem with the excessive use of first names. It was funny at first and then helped me understand which characters were speaking and to whom as the book progressed. The Big Bad didn't make much sense and his end didn't hurt any of our three MC's so this basically made it a fluff read which sometimes is just fine. The big issue with the book was the loner chick who is afraid of commitment after a bad childhood. It was realistic and not overdone. No babies in this HEA which is okay but would have been a nice addition. I appear to have baby cravings these days in my menage reads.
Sex Scenes: Okay, the foreplay was top notch, some of the best I've ever read. My only issue with them was that they all seemed extremely excited with the foreplay but when actual intercourse happened, the descriptions became vague and the climaxes themselves were tame and quick. I mean, the author seems to have no problem with being graphic when it comes to the prep but then everyone just slides home easily, pump, pump and then come very sedately, I am missing the continuation of the passion. If you are going to start off all dirty, then please carry it all the way through. But, that may just be my own little quirk.
Overall I enjoyed it but it was kind of a blah read for me. I don't think I'll be reading another from this author because the sex scenes were lacking for me but I expect others to not have the same issue.
-Spuffed, "Half stars are for pansies and one gif is plenty."
In those 10 pages the characters must have said each others names at least 20 times. It wasn't even used to start a sentence. "Caleb." "Taryn." "Ricky." etc etc etc. Added to that the overuse of dialogue tags it became annoying, and when I began to wince at the continual use of them it was time to give up.
It was a good read, some things in the book bugged me but other than that it was good. This was my first book by this author and I would read another one.
So I'm not sure what to say about this one. It's interesting. There was so many things going on with this one I don't think anything was every truly developed. It could have just been a good smutty book cuz I like those too but even the smut didn't seem fully developed to me.
I can take no story but good sex. I can take good story and no sex. But when both are bad, it just doesn't work for me.
The things one reads for laughs in a book club... this would have been better if it was just straight-up smut instead of a sad attempt to include an actual plot.
This is really a 1.5 Star book since there aren't any major glaring issues other than poor writing and ridiculous plot points that add nothing to the book. This is one of those *headdesk* books were you're looking at the characters wondering why in the heck they're together. The sex is ridiculously uninspired...it's a lot of pump, pump, done with rabbit like recovery time on the occasions where the author even bothers to write it. For an erotic novel they certainly skip over the erotic bits more than one would expect. This should have been a PWP novel but apparently the author doesn't really want to write sex scenes so instead tried to force in some horribly planned out and pointless plot that served no actual purpose.
I'm happy I read this solely for the wonderful conversation we all had on the buddy read thread. I enjoyed the laughs.
Unsurprisingly, an extremely smutty book, full of graphic threesome sex. Slightly more surprising was the fact that there was some semblance of a plot. It had angsty issues which were mostly believeable, and even some almost level headed and logical resolution of all these hangups stopping the three from the obvious HEA. They didn't even try pulling the instant love at first sight BS (though they three of them did speed through relationship milestones which would typically take us mere mortals at least a year to get through, in the space of about 3 months...).
So, was it any good? Well... it wasn't terrible. Clichéd, cheesy and obviously unrealistic in parts, but still, not BAD. A solid three stars (bonus points given for no obvious editing or spelling issues, and for the attempt at a plot). I think I actually preferred the second half more than the first (which is about when the characters leave the bedroom/kitchen/shower/lounge floor long enough to remember there is an outside world).
Did it have any redeeming points? Other than those already mentioned, there were a few side characters I wouldn't have minded seeing more of. Plus, there were a few parts where I almost smiled and was mildly amused.
Why in the heck did I read it? Uhm... it was in my Kindle? It took a mere 4hrs to read, and it was next in my list of unread books if we start from 'A'. So, I just went with it. It was good enough to finish reading, not terrible enough for me to regret the waste of time and light hearted enough that I can tick the "read" column and move on with my life.
Highly unlikely to read further books in this series.
Meh. Taryn Moss and Richard Daniels are long time friends with occasional benefits - they like each other, but something is missing, which is why things haven't progressed to more with them. Caleb Black sees the pair one night coming out of his brother's bar and is attracted to them both. When the trio gets together, Taryn and Richard discover what was missing, and things progress pretty quickly. The most annoying this about this book was how the characters would say each other's name - I guess it's good page filler. Taryn," "Richard." "Caleb." Over and over and over and over....well, you get the picture. There was some a tiny mystery thrown in, which didn't make much sense, and sexual acrobatics that were difficult to picture. I'll pass on the rest of the books in the series.
this was my first erotica and I only read this for a team challenge to get some extra points. I'm so glad to finally be done with it and while it could have been worse I guess it still wasn't great.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Apparently so ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Taryn Caleb Richard ---------------------------------- I've done this as a group BOM so I'll post my answers to DQs instead. 17 June Chapters 1-4
Chapters 5-7
Day 3 - Chapters 8-11
14. Caleb isn't the kind of guy to have insecurities, but he feels like both Richard and Taryn are holding something back. And now that he's told them he loves them, it's bugging him. Do you have any thoughts on what it might be? Honestly I can't even focus on what that is because I just don't believe these three would ever be a couple. Caleb is controlling but hes not very good at either being controlling alpha or loving and gentle. Hes just a weird mix and its just not working for me.
15. In the last group of questions, it was brought up how Taryn didn't like her previous boyfriends bossing her around, but she seemed okay with Caleb's orders. But after Richard's car and house are vandalised, something has changed and she lashes out at Caleb and his demands. What do you think has changed? Reality has hit her and now shes worried about whether shes making the right decision being with two guys.
16. Who do you think is behind the vandalism on Richard's car and house, and why? Do you think it has anything to do with the trio's lifestyle? Or something else? I sadly know this and to be honest I didn't give myself time to ponder who it is. I've given up at this point to care I'm just finishing this for points.
17. I was surprised at how easily Richard's family, Taryn's friend and Caleb's brother have accepted the news of their relationship. How do you think your own family and friends would react if you were seriously involved in a menage relationship? I don't know. My dad would be probably fine with it, he'd say it was weird but he wouldn't stop being there for me. My maternal family wouldn't accept it very well. I also think my husband may struggle with that lol! Final thoughts This is probably one of the worst erotica novels I have read, and I read 50 shades of grey. Would I read again?: No Would I read this author again?: No
Perfect Formation is a rare treasure. It's a MMF that deals with the morning after, so to speak. Don't get me wrong, most MMF books trip my trigger, but they seem to be a lot of; "tab A & C to slot B & D, mix and match as needed". Hot, for sure, but I really like to see how they deal with the fact that one of them consistently leaves the toilet seat up, for example.
Richard and Taryn are close friends and sometimes lovers. Richard is, as he says, mostly gay. Not really bi, because is seems that Taryn is the only one to raise his flag. He's still looking for that perfect man. Taryn isn't looking for Mr. Right, she's content to meander through a few Mr. Right Now's.
Caleb isn't looking for anything more pressing than a relaxing beer at his brothers pub. Until his attention is caught by the hot couple staggering from the pub.
A chance meeting, an exchange of numbers and one three-way...phone call is all it takes to rock the three's foundations. Maintaining a relationship is never easy, add a few insecurities, some hot monkey sex, a dash of dominance and three wildly different personalities, shake and sit back and watch the explosion.
K.B. Alan's Perfect Formation had me giggling from the second paragraph. Ricky and Tar's insistence that Caleb must be the delicious figment of their collective naughty imaginations is priceless. Caleb is one hot Dom who is ready to do what it takes to forge a family unit with them. Richard's slight insecurities wrapped in an 'aww shucks' smile tugs my heartstrings and Taryn's almost (no offense intended) man-like refusal to discuss her feelings and a possible future both frustrates and fascinates me. This trio is hot, hot, hot and their slippery, bumpy road through relationship-ville is amusing, hot and...well, they are a "Perfect Formation" *sigh*
I got this book for free and the blurb sounded good I I thought I'd give it a try. I actually found this book painful to read. The opening scene when all the main characters meet was absolutely ridiculous to me and made two of them look like complete idiots drunk or not. Not to mention that it was hard to understand. I also found the fact that the characters constantly kept saying each others names in some parts almost in every sentence completely unnecessary and annoying. Well I didn't mind the story line I feel the author executed it very poorly and made it hard it understands at times. I almost chose not to finish the book. But I persevered.Overall this was a complete waste of time.
the beginning of the story was good but the longer the book was the less I was really in to it. I had real troubles with the emotional part here and the sex scenes - both could have been good but there was no real connection between the characters and the sex was a bit lame ... it felt off, no sparks
the plot was ... not really there I think and more of an afterthought
I don't thin I will read something of this author again as I could not relate to the characters and their relationship to each other
I loved that this story explored the relationship between these 3 people. It was definitely not all about the sex. Not that there wasn't sex. There was. And boy is is hot, steamy and sensual! If you haven't tried BDSM or menage yet, this would be a great book to start with.
You get to know all 3 MCs and come to understand why each of them are the way they are. Wounded though they may be, they each fight for their love. *happy sighs*
I'm off to go see what else K.B. has to offer. I'm happy dancing over here to have found another new to me author that I thoroughly enjoy!
At 91% the short book abruptly finishes with a HFN ending.
Weak. I can say having just finished this I couldn’t tell you what the characters look like. Maybe a little about their character but more about their jobs.
It was almost comical instead of passionate at times, like someone trying to write a scene but not having experience enough to do so. Not to mention a scene or two where the characters must of be very flexible.
Occasionally it was also hard to follow who was speaking.
I LOVED the emotional revelations each character went through in this story. It wasn't your typical I want to have a 3way, wham bamm we're in love... these guys and gal really went though some personal struggles to accept the love they had for each other... It was awesome to read it.
I didn't like that the story wasn't a little longer but it was deep.
If you’re looking for sex (MFM, MM, FM), you just found it. There is a little mystery thrown in too, but it’s really just a whole lot of sex. If you don’t want to read something that is 95% sex, move on. If you happen to be in the mood for just this sort of gluttony, carry on.
I really wanted to like this book. I like the story line, but the authors writing killed it for me. The dialogue felt forced and sometimes very generic. I love friend to lover stories, and while parts of this book were really good most of it fell flat.
While I love menage I did not love this one. The story was good I just could not seem to connect with the characters I will defiantly read more works by this author
