Russ is awfully sweet for someone who pretends to be so salty.
Gruff ex-punk Russ is a sweets-obsessed baker, struggling to get his dream business off the ground. His cupcakes are delicious and everyone loves them—so why is his bakery failing?
“I’m begging you: please call me for an interview…”
Arthur is about to lose his mind. With his amazing grades and business degree, he thought he’d be a shoe-in at any company in Rosebridge—but he can’t convince anyone to hire him. With his savings drying up, it looks likely that he’ll have to admit defeat and return home to face his homophobic parents.
Arthur is simply off limits—he has to be.
Arthur is perfect for the bakery: motivated, meticulous, and a great worker. Unfortunately, Arthur is also gorgeous, hilarious, and way too young for Russ to date.
Arthur can’t ignore the way Russ’s strong arms and low laugh send electricity up and down his spine. He can’t let anything jeopardize his new job, but Arthur also can’t ignore how perfect the two of them could be together…
Sweet Deal is a steamy 55,000-word contemporary romance with May/December themes, a workplace romance, and a happily-ever-after ending.
I get so excited when I discover a new (to me, at least) author on Kindle Unlimited who, lo and behold, actually publishes a book worth reading.
Sweet Deal is a happy, feel-good story. Russ owns a bakery. Arthur, who has an MBA but no prospects, is desperate for a job. When Arthur sees that a bakery near his flat is hiring, he pens an outrageous email essentially begging for an interview. Russ is so amused, he responds. Arthur shows up for the interview in a suit, which is both awkward AND adorable.
Arthur isn't much of a baker, but he's a social media guru, and he has all kinds of ideas about how to bring business to the fledgling bakery. He's kind of worried about stepping on Russ's toes, but Russ is nothing if not grateful.
Arthur falls for Russ pretty much the moment he sets eyes on him. But Russ is wary. He's eleven years older than Arthur (36 to Arthur's 25) and doesn't think he's good enough.
But Arthur won't be deterred. He flirts with Russ relentlessly, and there's only so much a man can take. Russ can't resist Arthur's wild curls and big, brown eyes. Arthur is sweet and endearing, and has no idea how hot he is.
Russ agrees to a friends with benefits situation but stresses that it's sex, not love, and never the twain should meet.
That was SO frustrating. I hate it when one MC doesn't trust that the other MC can make up his own mind.
There's some mild angst at the end (Arthur's parents are despicable people), but mostly this is a feel-good, sexy (the lap dance scene is divine!), relationship-driven story with two very likable MCs and a brilliant HEA.
Harper Logan knows how to write engaging dialogue, but I did notice a few typos (mostly missing or wrong words) that pulled me out of the story. That was a bit of a bummer, but I still had a lot of fun getting to know Russ and Arthur.
This was sweet, fluffy, and full of sugar and spice with some guys who were extra nice.
There's really not much to say about this one because there wasn't much really going on. It was just a cute romantic story about a couple of opposites being attracted to each other. One fighting it and the other in high pursuit of obtaining the other. They did a nice slow dance around each other and I enjoyed it. It is one of those reads you want when you need a break from the others that make you think too hard.
So if your looking for easy and sweet, then this one is for you.
3.75 stars These two are soooooo cute! This book was a sweet treat. I loved both characters. Arthur was so awesome despite the number his parents did on him and Russ was just adorable. I always love that combo of rough exterior and soft inside and that describes Russell to a T. He is a total teddy bear. I recommend this book to everyone who likes a sweet romance with a happy ending and an age gap. That said, I need to mention that this book and Bets are Off have a couple of sexy scenes that are surprisingly similar... to the point that even some of the wording was identical... Also, the cover needs some photoshopping on Russ's eyes, since they are blue, not brown.
Meh. No me ha gustado.
2.5 stars rounded up to 3 because of the nice epilogue
It’s a sweet and easy romance between Russ, a nice guy who likes music and loves baking but with not a huge sense of business, and Arthur, fresh out of business school and ready to accept any job, even if it’s working for a bakery involving some cooking. And from the start, Arthur is totally smitten with his new boss.
No angst, nice sentiments but for the homophobic parents of Arthurs, steamy with a nice epilogue. But it didn’t hold my interest much. And I can’t help but to state : a 25 year-old man is “no kid” and a 35 year-old man is no “old man”.
*** Arthur, 25, got his business degree, but hasn't gotten a job, that is until he gave up and went with something he didn't know how to do. The corner bakery was hiring, he wouldn't need a car, so he put on his suit and went to his interview. *** Russ, 36, tattooed bakery owner, knew Arthur was overqualified, but he took a chance on the energetic fellow. What was it about Arthur that drew him? They are each attracted, but Russ figures he's his boss and too old for Arthur; then finds that Arthur prefers older men. Arthurs parents rejected him, but he's close to his sister, and now his bakery "family" envelops him. He and Russ get closer as he trains Arthur. Deep, rich feelings, wonderful characters, a smooth plot, and some super hot sexiness make this a fun tale. Our guys are perfect together.
This story is a delightful M/M romance; a marvelous tale of different people finding their way to happiness. Arthur helps build Russ's business, and we do get a violent robbery, but the guys are there to help each other. You'll like this sweet, fabulous romance. This pair will stay with me. ENJOY !! =======
3.5* Awww so sweet!! Slow burn story about a baker and a business graduate desperate to find work! They fall for each other soon, but their age difference and their business relationship make them to hold back their feelings. ♥ I enjoyed this one!
That's exactly what this book is, a sweet little deal. The story is low on angst and drama but high on sweetness, flirting, and longing. Super cute and fun. Good read with a darling epilogue.
I received this story for an honest review. This is the first time reading one of Harper Logan's stories and I must say, I am impressed.
Russ and Arthur were so cute together. I loved this story from the very beginning. The humor, the warmhearted Russ and the endearing Arthur really put the topping on this sweet delicious read. I could definitely read this story again.
I do very much look forward to reading more from this author.
I got this free from Harper Logan's post on MM Romance ARC Club on Facebook. For honest review. I found another one to add to my favorites list of books and Authors.
I loved the book. It emotionally pulled me in. From laughter to tears. Loved the Characters, the story line, and felt it was a nice steady pace. I will find myself rereading it again with my other favorites. Can't wait to read other books that Harper Logan has written.
Thank you for letting me read this wonderful book.
Very sweet story. Russ was 11 years older than Arthur and thought he was too old for him. He owned a bakery and hired Arthur who was a business major. Arthur ended up helping build up the business and Russ realized he wasn't too old for him after all. The meeting with Arthur's evil parents was a bit OTT but I enjoyed the rest.
Another great romance from Harper Logan!! These stories always touch my heart. HOT, Sexy, and the twists of life that sometime gets in the way.. Arthur is a college graduate that has been looking for a job for 4 months but to no avail. Getting desperate he goes to Craigslist and happens upon a job at the local bakery. Thinking he has nothing to lose he immediately sends them an extraordinary email... The owner, Russ, gets back to him within the hour and calls him in for an interview. Impressed by what he sees, Russ hires him on the spot! There is an immediate attraction there, but Russ is his boss, he is 10+ years older than Arthur, and Russ knows he really has nothing to offer someone like Arthur. Arthur flirts, but Russ tries to ignore them and denies his own feelings. But as time goes on they both know they want each other agreeing to have a physical relationship with ground rules . Which was great, but Arthur's homophobic parents show up at the bakery, demeaning them both. This has turned Arthur's world upside down thinking that Russ really didn't have the same feelings towards him. In turn, Russ gives him the space he needs, but is determined to tell him just how he really feels.. Then the unimaginable happens.. Is it too late? Loved this story and the characters.. Highly recommend❤️
This is one sweet read! I loved it every minute of it. Russ and Arthur had me hooked with their chemistry from the beginning. This is a slow burn, but a very enjoyable ride. Sexy, sweet, and romantic. Supporting characters add depth to the story, it's well thought out and written. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy for my honest opinion and review.
Sweet, fluffy and angst free. A winning combination as far as I'm concerned!
The slow burn was well done and although the lack of comunication betwen the MCs and Russ' fixation on their age difference drove me crazy the HEA was good enough to make me forgive it all ♥
Ok, first off-- 25 and 36 is a May/December romance? HA! AAHahahahaha! read Julie Bozza's The Apothecary's Garden if you want to see an actual May/December romance! (No, seriously, though- read it. It's really sweet and well-written!)
Now that I got that bit of incredulity out of my system, on to my other thoughts...
This story is kind of like Kay Simone light. She apparently helped with this and you can definitely feel her influence in there, sometimes with details so similar that I started to wonder if the author ripped some things word-for-word from The Aftermath.
It has some really great qualities (it is sweet, obviously, but it didn't make me gag with over-the-top saccharineness, and it has great characters w/ that whole good-but-not-ridiculously-so thing going on), but it's ultimately a bit clumsy and mostly forgettable. Like, I'm writing this 2 days later and I can only really remember "tattooed guy...owns a bakery...other guy needed a job really bad...there's some reason they can't be together..."
I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book..... This was just so sweet and made me a bit hungry for cake throughout the story. :) Arthur was so precious, especially when he wore a suit and tie for his interview at the bakery. Russ owned the bakery and was attracted to Arthur from the start. However, he felt like he was too old for Arthur, not to mention the fact that Arthur was a very intelligent business man who was going places in life and he didn't want to get in the way of that. There was a part of the story that had me worried about Arthur.......... Spoiler....... which is when the bakery was burglarized. He wanted to go outside and...... I don't know, follow the guys, or catch the guys or something, and he was already unconscious once. Just, no, not safe,so I held my breath during that part. The writing was excellent as usual and the ending was so beautiful. Almost had me crying. Very appealing and touching romance. :)
This was an excellent story. Russ is a man with a dream that is probably failing. His bakery. He can't figure out why he is not making enough to keep it running. Arthur is a young man who has a college degree, but not prospects and finally ends up begging for a job from Russ to keep himself afloat. The two of them dance around each other, both attracted to the other. Arthur has not doubts of his attraction, but Russ is convinced he is two old and not good enough for Arthur, so both dance the dance of unfulfillment. Arthur helps Russ with his advertising and things take off at the bakery and the sexual tension between the two escalate. Finally they strike a deal to be friends with benefits with a lot of rules set down by Russ. Follow this book with it's lust, gay sex, angst, panic, loss, grief, violence, homophobic family, loneliness, and love. You won't be disappointed in this story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Is there anything better than a love story with a bakery in it? Yes actually. Reading a love story in a bakery while eating cake. Arthur has a degree in business studies but can't find a job and is despairing of ever finding one. He sees an advert for a job in a bakery and sends of the most ridiculous email applying for the position. Stunned that he gets the job he soon gets down to learning how to make cakes and realises that actually he really fancies the pants off his boss Russ. We follow the two men as they tiptoe around one a mad flirt and the other making excuses why they cannot be together and the rules they make and break before the finale. A sweet love story that sucks you into the mixer.
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
Arthur is looking for a job, any job ,but with so many disappointments he wasn't hopeful when he applied for work at a bakery. Russ owns his own bakery and is in need of another baker when he sees the funniest CV and just had to meet the man whose application made him laugh, what he wasn't expecting was to meet the cutest man he had ever seen. Arthur meets Russ and falls instantly in lust for the bearded tattooed older owner of the bakery. Both men are damaged by their pasts but can Russ get over himself enough to take a chance on Arthur, and can Arthur persuade Russ that they were meant to be together.
What a cute read by Harper Logan...I really liked it. Russ and Arthur are complete opposites, Russ is a tattooed baker who likes punk rock. Arthur is sarcastic recent business grad who is having trouble finding a job. He applies at Russ's bakery and gets the job. They realize that there is more than meets the eye and that they do have more in common than they thought.
I really liked the story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. Well done!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book.
This was awesome.. I laughed so many times.. it made me feel happy and good.. I loved the characters and toward the ending was perfect.. plus age is just a number and they were wonderful together.. i about died laughing.. it was wonderful :D
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I absolutely loved this book! The story was so very sweet and sexy. Thank you for allowing me to read your work!
Oh man this was so sweet….and cute….and fun! And I just have to open this with…omg…there’s a lap dance scene in this story that stayed with me for days. It’s been over a week since I read this book and I’m still thinking about the smokin’ hot scene. YES, please!!!
Anyway, this is my first book by this author and it was a successful win. I love bakery/baker stories. They always have this super sweet/fun element and Sweet Deal was no exception. This was hot, sweet, funny, and downright adorable at times.
Arthur recently finished his degree and like many others is finding it difficult to find work. At a last ditch effort Arthur pleads with a local bakery owner to hire him on despite any baking experience, intrigued the bakery owner agrees.
Russ has been having a tough time keeping his bakery afloat and hiring on a kid with no experience doesn’t make sense but Russ just can’t so no to the adorable, Arthur.
Arthur however has tons of ideas about using Social Media to promote the bakery which helps increase Russ’s business.
Both Arthur and Russ try their hardest to avoid the attraction that is building between them but they can’t seem to fight it. So, they embark on a friend with benefits situation that eventually builds into a lot more….that HEA….yessssss!
Crazy, cute story…great writing…I love finding new authors…recommend!!
