A short, factual book about giant sequoia trees, this is a great read-alone or read-aloud book. The narrative takes the reader through a descriptive understanding of these trees, and there is a vocabulary list, glossary, and index available, as well as a note to parents on how to further engage students with this type of non-fiction. Students in 3rd or 4th grade and up would enjoy reading and receive some great information.

I'll mostly agree with the official description: Preschool for read aloud, Kindergarten for independent reading.

The book gives a simple overview of the Sequoia or California Redwood. The pronunciation guides for words like photosynthesis help make it more accessible to younger children. A reasonably good book.
