A tira cómica Baby Blues nasceu em 1990. Jerry Scott escreve, Rick Kirkman desenha.
Rick Kirkman is a cartoonist and co-creator of the comic strip Baby Blues. He received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Comic Strip Award in 1995, and the Reuben Award in 2012 for his work on the strip. He also served as co-executive producer of The WB animated television series of Baby Blues.
It's remarkable how the authors manage to keep the high quality of these comic strips, even when some circumstances could make things complicated (when Kirkman's father becomes ill and he needs to take some time off, Scott recycles some of the old strips, creating new jokes while using the same drawings!...)
Current themes, like Uber, are brilliantly included in the mishaps of the McPhersons.
More family craziness from the MacPhersons...but you already knew that, right? Though I'm not usually a fan of commentary alongside comic strips, I did think it was interesting how one of the creators reused old drawings for new strips, and especially how he did it using modern technology. I wonder if any of the daily readers of the funny pages knew that while the strips were running in newspapers.
I've always enjoyed Baby Blues and I have recently acquired some of the more recent titles in the series and am enjoying reading them very much. The artwork is excellent, there are many strips in full color, and the compilation is interspaced with little notes from the artists who draw and conceive the strip, which really adds to the context and history. Any fan of the series will enjoy Gross! My only actual complaint is the book is too big! In paperback, it tends to flop a bit and is best read laying on a table.
Like Dilbert and those who work in offices versus those who do not, only those who are parents will truly understand the full humor of Baby Blues. The strip may be funny to non-parents, but one cannot appreciate the fullness of the strip unless one has lived it.
One of the nice editorial things the authors do is have notes about the background of the strip at hand. It is a nice touch getting those little insights.
Borrowed this from our library. I haven't caught up with Baby Blues in awhile, we have most of the older books, pre-Wren. Even though the authors don't age the kids too quickly it was a bit of a shock to see Zoe listed as a 4th grader. Still hilarious and I know I've seen and heard some of the strips from my own niece and nephew as well as my friends kids.
On of my reading goals in life is to own every one of these books as a collection. I adore Baby Blues comics and always have. I laugh out loud, feel reminiscent and teary and truly love the drawings. Not only is it spot on about what it means to be a parent today but also what it means to be a sibling.
Kirkman and Scott have another winner of totally relatable snapshots from the parenthood files. Sometimes they do test your love and devotion, but that is life and love put to the test. Amusing and all-too-often uncannily accurate drawings as well. The creators-authors have another great collection. Enjoyed.
Fun collection of the Baby Blues Comic Strip. I really enjoyed how the creators commented on how they came up with the ideas and did the drawings. Super cool! I'm excited to read another one in the collection soon.
I miss this strip being in the local paper, but thanks to Hoopla and my local public library, I can still catch up on the adventures of Zoe, Hammie, Wren trying to outwit their parents. A nice collection with the creators commenting underneath various strips.
I liked to read the Baby Blues strip in the comics growing up, so it was fun to read this collection of strips that ran long after I stopped reading it (2015).
I’m glad I discovered this in kindle unli. Super funny- I Love zoe and hammie! Their antics and banter are so nostalgic, I See myself and my younger siblings in them!
Estes livros são mesmo fantásticos, do que mais gosto em BD. E agora com comentários dos autores, trazem ainda mais qualquer coisa ao prazer da leitura e de ver os "bonecos" :)
