This book was written about শাহীন's life. He was sentenced to prison for a murder charge. At that time, he was married to নাদিরা with two kids. During his prison time, he had a hunch that the situation was taking a toll on his relationship with his wife and kids. But he was helpless and their visiting time was the only thing keeping him sane. Then his brother told him about the presence of another man in নাদিরা's life. Things went downhill from there. After a lot of years in jail, he was released early on good behavior. Unfortunately, by that time, he was already divorced. His kids didn't want him anymore. However, he had a lot of people who wanted to help him stand up on his own.
What I Hated
- First of all, the thing that annoyed me the most was the fact that the author kept stating what an honest man শাহীন was. If he was so honest, why on earth did he not tell the whole truth in the court? Was hiding something deliberately, not considered dishonesty? How could he let the actual killer remain free? How could he not think about his wife and kids?
- Secondly, I didn't like বাদল. I get the fact that নাদিরা was overwhelmed and alone. But that didn't justify the fact that she would just throw herself to the first man who paid her any attention. And that dude, বাদল took advantage of her situation. নাদিরা could've consoled her kids when শাহীন behaved like a madman. After all, it was her fault. She gave the final blow to his mental state. I would've respected her much more if she didn't let বাদল in and just focused on her own dreams and her kids. What annoyed me more was the fact that I didn't see her prioritize her kids over everything, you know? I know I can't explain it properly. There was just something there. Anyway, even after শাহীন got outta jail and went to see her, it was like she was a different person. I mean she was married to him once. Where was the sympathy? The guilt? I just wanted some sort of emotion in her when you saw the person you had promised once that you would wait for him.
- Not gonna lie, I did feel sympathy for শাহীন. He struggled a lot. He at least deserved some happiness in his life. He spent so many years in jail, his wife left him, his kids didn't want anything to do with him, he had depression, he got out of jail and stepped into an unknown world, and not to mention he had severe illness. So yeah, when রায়হানা entered his life I was happy. But the author was not satisfied enough and wanted to make শাহীন's life more hell than what he already went through.
- Last of all, justice was not served!
What I Liked
- I liked জাহিন and his wife. He was not complicated. He knew what was going on between বাদল and নাদিরা. I liked the fact that he didn't sugarcoat the truth no matter how bitter it might be.
- I feel like শাহীন and রায়হানা had a great chemistry.
I would've liked it a lot better if the ending was different. If রায়হানা and শাহীন got the happy ending they deserved. If শাহীন had gotten the justice he deserved. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. The writing was good though.
