Return of the Nauro

Rate this book
Three years ago fourteen young warriors took an oath to protect their kingdom. Now, two years after nearly losing one of their own, they have grown from a disparate band of teenagers into one of the Kingdom's most cohesive and effective protection forces. But in doing so they've made enemies. The most powerful of which being the very Order they are sworn to obey. When the King personally tasks them with two different missions they are forced to choose between their Order and their Duty.

Both have an equal chance of failure.

The first will take them into a land that no one returns from; and no one knows why. Deep within its ancient borders hides a secret long thought lost, as deadly as it is magnificent. The second hunts a creature come to life from the scrolls of myths and legends. An invincible and voracious killer. A creature bred for one purpose...

To destroy those with magic.

Set two years after the events in The Chosen the story had a lot happen in those two years. At times I felt a little out of the know which could have been a purposeful choice on the author’s end. I really liked, however, getting to know the other Dragons more. I loved getting to know David and Kathryn in The Chosen but it was nice to be able to see more of the other twelve. Overall, the book was pretty good. There were occasions where I was confused but that wasn’t very often. Definitely recommend if you liked The Chosen.

I liked this book. It has more content on other characters besides David and Kathryn, but it is also shorter than the first book. Personally, I enjoyed the first book better since it irritated me that this book is set at a time two years in the future from the end of the first book and A LOT has happened in that time. I mean, we missed out on scenes that I was really excited for and were hinted at in the first book like David coming out as royalty to the family (and Nats and Kathryns reaction to it) (anyone notice that Kat and David are kinda like cousins now LOL). Also, seeing how Kathryn was struggling to handle all the responsibility after David's personal loss would have been interesting to read about. Another thing that partly bugged me was that this book seemed to stop in the middle of the quest. It was like the characters set out out his mission, but didn't really accomplish anything yet so I feel like this book would have felt more complete to me if they had finished at least one mission. In the ending, I was also a bit sad about how the author finished the book since that particular character wasn't mentioned much until they leave a cliffhanger up to an issue that mainly concerns her at the moment. Otherwise, I liked the character development and seeing other characters besides the main cast. I will be reading the next book when it comes out and I'm excited to see what Leia and Rachel decide to do. (Also, anyone notice how many talks David had with Darcy presumably about defending Kathryn's honor? I'm excited to see what, if anything, comes of that... :) ;)
