Feels Like Family

Helen Decatur is forty-two, single and suddenly ready for the family she’s put on the back burner for all these years. Taking charge of her own destiny puts her at odds with her two best friends and sets sparks flying with a man who doesn’t want a family, but it also leads her straight into the most unexpected complication of all…love.

Welcome to Serenity

When Jeanette Brioche helped launch The Corner Spa in Serenity, South Carolina, she discovered the deep and loyal friendships that had been missing from her life. But even the Sweet Magnolias can’t persuade her to enjoy the holiday season—until Jeanette is pushed into working on the Christmas festival with the sexy new town manager, Tom McDonald.

Home in Carolina

For Annie Sullivan, coming home to Serenity is bittersweet. She’d always envisioned a life there with her childhood best friend, Tyler Townsend, but his betrayal years ago cost her the future they’d once planned. Now that Annie’s back in town, can Ty persuade her to forgive and forget?

Sherryl Woods

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

Average 3.5 in reality

Feels Like Family 4 star
Nice to see what happens with Helen and Erik, but also REALLY underhanded (hence the 4 stars).

Welcome to Serenity 4 star
A fun read, but boy do those girls meddle!

Home in Carolina 2 star
This started as a story I was excited to read, but as it went on it was like she got bored writing or with the storyline. It ends suddenly and with ZERO information- how can they not say hardly anything about Rayelynn?

Can be read as a standalone, but as a series is best.

Three books in one. It’s really hard to rate all three at once since I feel some stories are better than others. One thing that annoys me are the ways that many of the guys are controlling or sexist. Yuck. No thanks. Not attractive at all.

Feels Like Family is about Helen and Erik. I do not like how this story goes along. It’s full of manipulation and control. The Netflix series does this story so much better.

Welcome to Serenity introduces new characters. Jeanette who isn’t featured in the Netflix show And Tom the city manager. I’m ok with the fact that Jeanette didn’t make it over to the show. I don’t see how anyone can just be invited into the “Sweet Magnolias” I feel like they had to grow up together or maybe married in if they Magnolias had siblings. I honestly can not imagine these two working out. They wanted different things from life.

Home in Carolina is all about Ty and Annie and was probably the best of the three but felt rushed and lacking in the end. When I finished reading (ebook) I honestly could not believe that’s how they ended the book. I wanted to know more about Raylene(?) and the other friend. How will Ty and Annie make it work with him playing in the MLB?! There was so much potential for this story but it fell flat.

I think I need a break from the Sweet Magnolias.

I loved this series I got a little boring later I the series but it has the sweet southern girlfriend characters I love each book focuses on one of the ladies lives and gives you more about her story while still having all the other characters mixed in and continuing on their stories!

Love conquerors all.

What a love story. One for the ages. All ages. Sheryl Woods has a way of writing characters that you can really get behind.
