Romeo and Juliet, meet Bonnie and Clyde. June Randall and Elliot “Ell” Lefavre are young bandits on the run, using their powers to commit a string of robberies along the Florida coast when they run up against the long arm of the law in the form of FBI Special Agent Scott Byerly. But when the dangerous young lovers prove to be too much for Agent Byerly, he turns to his ex-flame Sienna Nealon for a helping hand bring them down. Between the two of them, they ought to be able to give June and Elliot a run for their money. If they don't end up killing each other first.
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
Sienna is strong enough that she actually could get away with her lately zero-kill mentality. But not if she continues to be so tactically incompetent (walking into ambushes, chatting with people until they ambush her, etc.).
This is really all the more irritating because we know that she knows better.
I get that she's supposed to be depressed, but I don't see why this means that she needs to become an incompetent operator.
I will probably read all the books until the end, just because I’ve invested so much time so far, but; this, and many of the previous in the series, have become progressively less enjoyable and definitely more frustrating to read. Powers, abilities, skills that have been well used and practiced through the series appear to have been forgotten or overlooked. Sienna makes rookie mistakes and despite all her powers appears to be losing even simple common sense. Oh well.
I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a series of books as much. Not only do I start the next immediately after finish one, I am so pleased when another is added to the series. I started with the girl in the box series and haven't picked up another book that's not about Sienna since that very first one. I'll be truly lost if they ever finished. Robert J. Crane please keep writing this series or a follow on one, we need these books in our lives.
This was a great read. I am enjoying watching Siena growing through these books. She has come a long way since book one but I hope the author finds a creative way to give her a guy she can actually touch,to have a relationship with maybe now that others are out there, all she's ever done is suffer.I think this is the only vacation the poor girl has ever had and hoboy she was way past due.
I love how Mr. Crane digs into what seems like just another story and turns it into a deeply touching series of events that draws the reader closer to the characters. I find myself getting mad, sad, frustrated and disappointed as if these people are really friends who are experiencing the ups and downs of life.
Toxic June is on a crime spree, dragging her sweet boyfriend Elliott along with her. After making a promise to the grandmother, Scott and Sienna work together to take her in alive. Personally, she was a twit, a horrible twit that did not deserve the effort. I did like some of the personal drama was cleared in this book. Made for an interesting read.
Another great book that’s full of angst, struggle, temptation and more for sienna and the gang. I love how the main characters continue to grow and develop into stronger more intense people with a real range of emotions and feelings. I can’t wait to see what happens next…
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Another great addition to a constantly changing story. I love the addition of new characters along with the continued and ever changing relationships with family, friends and foe!
It was one of my favorites in the series. Sienna finally faces what she did to Scott and grows as a person. In my opinion, this has been desperately needed and slow in coming. It's actually one of my few complaints about the books.
It started out a little slow for me but it certainly didn't stay that way for long. I'm glad Scott finally regained his memories and helped Sienna even before he understood what had happened and why.
I liked the storyline but it just felt a little lacking. Hoping this series picks up again. Feel like these last couple of books have been filling time a bit. Still enjoyed it just not as much as other parts.
I like this series. I’m on book 14 of the second part of the series. I think there’s some “same plot different book.” I still can’t stop reading them. The characters are unique and constantly growing as people. Interesting stories.
If you Robert had gone a little further in this book there would have been truckloads of not so nice emails (no spoilers). But as always it was AWESOME!!!
I don't always know what is going to happen or even see where the story is going and that is good because it keeps me interested in ready more in the series.
So far this book has been my favorite…it shows that even though they have meta human power that they are still human, can still hurt, have heartache and have to heal emotionally from what they’ve dealt with..especially being mentally controlled by someone else and having done things out of character!
This series is a great read. Easy to follow and they dont take a lot of effort. There are 24 books in the series so far all centred around one character who is massively complicated and I feel myself sympathising with her despite some of the things she has done which is a testament to Robert j crane and his character development. Highly recommend these.
The author should, in my view, be very proud of what he has produced with this book.
June & Ell are quite the couple. At points, I rolled my eyes so hard at them that I thought that I was going to get eye sprain. However, June in particular, is a great bad guy - definitely the "Clyde" in this relationship. The way she is portrayed is eerie. Her disconnect between her actions and her responsibility for the same is disturbing to read.
But it’s how close she came to being ended by a nobody; it’s the open door at the end; it’s the emotion that sets this one apart. I confess that Crane might have had me tearing up a little with this one.
Bravo Mr Crane. I can't wait to see where you take us next.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
OMG I couldn't put this one down. I had a little thing called work getting in the way which is why I've only just managed to finish it. May seems so far a way I just might take a few days off for uninterrupted reading. I'm calling it Sienna time. Seriously if you have not read any of these books read them!
