If you’re browsing through this book at your favorite bookstore right now, and are pondering whether to take it to the cashier, ask yourself these Are you considering purchasing a GPS receiver? Have you recently purchased a GPS receiver (or got one as a gift)?
Have you owned a GPS receiver for a while, but want to get more from it? Are you interested in using digital maps for your profession or hobby? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then stop reading and immediately proceed to the cash register because this book will make your life easier (if you’re still not convinced, feel free to continue flipping through the pages to see what I mean).

WARNING: Do NOT buy this book. It is a 100% waste of your money.
I am a veteran Geocacher. I purchased this book to donate to my local library as a thank you for allowing me to place a Geocache inside the building. I thought this was going to be a quick easy read for a beginner Geocacher. When I received the book in the mail today, I thought I'd take a quick browse through it to see what I was going to be donating. I am glad I made that decision. I would be embarrassed and ashamed to have presented this item as a gift to my library. It was a complete waste of money and deserves to be burned as a firestarter and never reach the shelf of any library.
I should have taken better note of the rating. The grammar is horrible. There is a consistent lack of punctuation based on either the writer's skills, or the editor needs a new job. Misspellings abound! The book is about geocaching and they can't even spell that word correctly. Geocaching is the "funniest" outdoor game? Seriously!??! Geocaching contestants? What are Geocachers competing against? The writer makes it sound like you're gonna 'win' something, and adds to the misinterpretation of the activity. The writer tries to appear knowledgeable about technology and uses inaccurate words. He often opts for the hundred dollar word instead of the fifty-cent word in a small handbook that should be easy for a beginner to understand, and instead makes it difficult. Soooooooo many typos!!!! The writer appears to confuse personal opinion with facts, further misrepresenting Geocaching.
The only time the book mentions a GPS, it mentions one brand and one model only. It does not even mention that there are many different types of GPSr's and even more GPS models out there to choose from, and that one should find the unit that fits each individual person's needs or wants.
In conclusion this was extremely difficult to get through, and I only continued to the end so that I could actually give an honest and accurate rating. Thankfully it was short, but it was oh so tedious having to read it, I cringed as I muddled through.
Clearly this book was self published and I made a mistake in purchasing it. I do not know if this was an adult student project (... and he decided to make a buck on his essay), someone who wrote it in a language other than English and somehow the translation was atrocious, or it's just plain poorly written, but I cannot recommend this book to any future readers, and most certainly not a beginning Geocacher.
By the way there was no free bonus included so I don't know what that was about.... It was also far, far from being a complete guide!!!
