Mixing tons of useful prepping tips into an action-packed story, Last Surviving America's Collapse is a must-read for any fans of survival fiction. Last Patriots Three months after the EMP cripples the United States, John Mack and his family find their peaceful new existence shattered when a tyrant seizes control of the nearby town of Oneida. Soon John encounters a group of Patriots who've sworn to stand against the growing despotism. But John will learn that nothing in this new post-EMP America is what it seems--and that the deadliest threats are often the ones you didn't see coming. Last Warlords Tormented by a past he can't forget, John Mack is about to face the toughest fight of his life. The tiny town of Oneida, Tennessee stands in the crosshairs of Russian and Chinese armies threatening to push across the Mississippi River. With the United States fragmented and on the brink of military collapse, John will need to dig deeper than ever to defend his loved ones from enemies both foreign and domestic. Last Turning the Tide Foreign armies are poised along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains preparing for the final assault and America's inevitable defeat. For John, turning back the tide will mean going deep behind enemy lines and organizing the very insurgency he fought so hard against in Iraq. But more than that, it'll mean coming to terms with the brutality of war and the realization that sometimes the deepest scars are the ones that can't be seen.
I really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more from the author. It was a little more military than I normally read but it's justified as why would a country be imoblised by an emp if it didn't mean invasion?
A four book series about America after a high altitude nuclear blast's electromagnetic pulse fries everything computer driven. Cars after 1980 are dead, the telecommunications and power grids are down, etc. Book one is about urban survival, book two outdoor tips, three how to fortify and defend a small town against military attack, four operating an insurgency. We don't know about the need to operate an insurgency until book four when we learn that the Chinese, Russians, and North Koreans team up to invade and subjugate the US one month after the EMP blast. Weber has at least two other series about this post apocalyptic scenario.
As I finish the series I feel like a man that has just finished a marathon. Exhausted but at the same time Exhilarated. These books draw you in slowly and then firmly grab you. When you read them you will most certainly enjoy them..Trust me when I say you will like John..I 100% recommend these books..
If you have ever been in the military you can relate to the main character. Especially if you have been in combat. Good action adventure for those who have never wore a uniform. I look forward to reading more from this author.
An apocalyptic EMP story based, or taking place, in East Tennessee! Clean, but with some detailed battle scenes; very little language.
I would give this set a four or a five, so I went to the higher end and gave it a five. The four books were full of action, and began with an EMP, and escalated as it progressed. I felt that the characters were well developed and believable. However, when the story escalated into a full-blown war situation, I was lost, being unable to keep straight what weapon was what, etc. I also felt that the end was a little abrupt and would have liked it to have been better developed. All in all, I really enjoyed the stories.

I really enjoyed the 4 book set. The characters were believable, the action was suspenseful, and the scenes were compelling. The only thing that bothered me was the author's main character would sometimes be taken back to his wartime experience in Iraq. I didn't think this was necessary. The goose, George, was a nice touch.
I've always thought another country would be foolish to try to overtake America, but now, knowing many of our leaders want to disarm America and learning about EMPs... It's scary. Thanks for a good read full of information!
This is one of the best post-apocalyptic series I have read. Well thought out and realistic. Highly recommend this series. Much to learn and be prepared.
Good book could have had less reading about his prior experiences in Iraq. Overall it is hard to stop once you start reading it. Lots of twists and turns.
For the most part I read this series because I'm a fan of apocalyptic fiction that can also carry some basic survival and rebuilding information. I found plenty to like in the story of John Mack and the little town of Oneida, TN. Having said that the other thing that kept my interest were the creative and bold ways in which the characters mantra survive, fight back, and then rebuild, as their once comfortable and routine lives were almost certainly overwhelmed and threatened by a crushing attack on freedom, and democracy. The story is full of interesting and detailed information along with some horrifying events that would surely task weaker or uncertain persons with a deeply flawed belief in a system of government that will supposedly always have a solution and an immediate ability to arrive like gangbusters to save the day. We all want to keep the faith and hope our government would be able to always provide all the answers and certainly lend everyone a helping hand, but the grave reality isn't that many people would in fact, be Casey on their own and left to find their own ways to survive and stay alive. This brings the subject into the safety light of day and causes the reader to pause and wonder how they may or may not make it through a real life event like a mass casualty, an EMP, or a global event of combat and invasion by hostile forces. I'm not likely to ever dismiss as idiotic any argument about long-term survival or disaster preparation by anyone ever again. The books are highly readable, and I enthusiastically recommend them to any interested reader.
Tried listening to this on audio. Genuinely could not finish it. I tried. I really did. Listened to the first book and started the second but just had trouble enjoying it. I felt like it was predictable, redundant, and honestly kind of obnoxious. I wasn't a fan of the main character and maybe it was just the feminist in me but I really got frustrated at the obsession with "manning up" as the women are left to do the traditionally female roles. There was also a lot of stereotyping. I also found it frustrating how everyone else was essentially played as fools while John knows everything and thought it through better than everyone else including other preppers. Like by gosh - could nobody else really put two and two together that this was an EMP or have even a tiny bit of common sense about survival? Perhaps I'm just biased because I was raised with a bit of the prepper mentality - like my father actually owns a store on this stuff. Anyway, the characters were rather cookie cutter. I couldn't really enjoy them. I felt there was room for more depth and development beyond a mental list of what John needs to work on to improve his A game. I feel like if I didn't have those issues I would have given it a higher rating. As it was it does provide some prepping knowledge and has potential. But I simply could not enjoy it. I usually tough through and finish books but I could not force myself to do so. Maybe someday I'll finish the audiobook but we will see.
2-1/2 stars on my personal rating chart but 3 stars on Kindle's chart
I hate it that Kindle prevents rating individual books in multi-volume sets. Not all of the books in the set would be rated a '2', yet it would be misleading to rate any of them higher than '3'. I think that '2-1/2' on my personal scale is not representative of my views on the quality of the books, and is not an exact average of the scores I would attribute to each; nevertheless I that is the score that I think might best represent my view.
Weber has done a remarkable job writing about "prepper" topics without falling into the trenches that most prepper writers dig. And his combat-related topics are for the most part "spot on". His emotional and psychological scenarios occasionally get unrealistic, yet his overall plot and characterizations keep the stories compelling and engaging, if not always enthralling.
I won't dissect each story (since Kindle/Amazon hampers and hinders rating), so I request that you read each book and then correct any mistakes or misstatements I've made.
I enjoyed the first book in the series a lot. It was about the family and other characters surviving the EMP and it’s aftermath. The next book wasn’t bad either but by the third book it was all about the main character, his history in the military and about the war between Russia, China and Americans. Long descriptions of weaponry, war maneuvers and the killing. Johns family got lost in there and were almost an afterthought. Men would enjoy this series much more than women. I wouldn’t read it again like I have others but that’s a personal preference
From prepping, to survival, to a war novel. A good read.
Not a simple single issue set. Author has a good background apparently in survivalist matters, but also in some advanced military knowledge. No mistakes that many of these novels take, but a real appreciation of complexities. My only critique is that since he has the ability he should delve more deeply into both equipment and processes. Entertain AND teach.
When I got this “box set” I figured I might get through book one, as it sounded like a fictional story grafted onto a prepper manifesto. However, I read the first volume in a day. Books two, three, and four took a lot longer, as the story line shifts into more military and less survival, but the suspense is sufficient to keep the reader interested. I am impressed by the entire series.
Each book showcases a different survival situation
I loved this series, for me it was exactly what I had been looking for, an apocalyptic storyline that focuses on prepping, planning and survival. Well written and each book in the series is very different in its scope to the others - so it keeps it feeling fresh and new and keeps the reader’s interest.
While I enjoyed the first book which was post apocalyptic as described, the series quickly devolved into nothing more than a war story centered on military abbreviations for weapons and vehicles. It was all I could do to complete the last book to find out what happened to the family introduced in book one, scanning most of it. Disappointing.
Idiots get people killed. Unprepared idiots get people killed. People get people killed. Leaving an enemy combatant alive gets people killed. Prepare for the worst, have a plan and get out first. Don't rush, when this really gets going it's going to be horrific. SF-AQL
Started out wondering where this was going, but as I read more it really makes you wonder what happens to our freedom and take for granted what we have. Really enjoyed and identified with the surval aspects of the book. A great read.
The struggle for freedom carried to the next level as the current oppressors of the world attempt to subjugate our country. Let*s hope this remains fiction.
I was interested in the first book because I wanted to see how they handled the crisis but it went downhill from there and became a history lesson and military exercise. Idea was good but lost my interest by wandering off in a different direction.
