Misthaven: The Complete Trilogy

Rate this book
Magic is not easy, but, if you can bear the agony, oh the power you shall have… In a world of fading magic, where mankind is threatened from all sides, one hero is not enough.

Someone must pick up a sword to stand against the evil Trytor and keep his people free.

Someone must keep the last remaining source of Magic from the desperate grasp of the much-diminished Elvenfolk, and find a way to use the Magic of the Wellstone as a power for good.

And someone must save the first-born of a generation.

But there are no heroes; just ordinary men and women who know what must be done.

Their stories, and many more, can be found within the pages of this rich fantasy trilogy...

Meet the Giants, who want nothing but free food and ale, an Elvish Crawlord who would sacrifice everything to lay his hand on the magic of the Wellstone, and a half-giant tempered in the fire of God's Challenge.

If you have a heart, you will not turn away from the creature still clinging to the last of his humanity, or from the boys much too eager to discover the destiny that awaits them.

Take a drink of good strong ale with the people of Misthaven and share their joy in a story well told, as they try not to think of the evil that threatens their hidden land...

The Complete Seriescontains three books and over 1000 pages of epic fantasy adventure. If you like daring quests and heart-warming humour, with an ensemble cast of classic fantasy creatures, then you’ll love Battle’s sprawling world of humans, elves, and much more.

My name is John Battle and I've been telling stories of one sort or another for nearly fifty years. I started out telling serial stories to my younger brothers and sisters at night. Then I'd write short stories for one of my older sisters to mark.

I have to admit that I've spent most of my adult life not actually writing; life has a talent for getting in the way.

But, since a pep talk from my son in August 2012, I'm now an every day writer. When you are not writing, it is easy to forget how much fun it is.

Most of my books are Sci-Fi with a touch of Humour thrown in, but my Fool books are Humour with a touch of Sci-Fi thrown in.

OMG! Not easy to finish!!

I am gojng to give this author another shot by damn. These characters have about as much depth as a kiddy pool. No action. Almost no magic. Just the same boring conversations between characters over and over. Hmm do giants like ale and food? Not sure. Please te me over and over and over and you get the point. There is such an effort put into this tiring and pointless country bumpkin talk. Even the prince's son? Come on.... and miss woe wearer. Omg I get it! I get her story. She can't be happy and sing happy songs. I mean the entire series is a bunch of dialogue and I
Right sure of that! Right as rain it is or tehy don't call me...yeah exactly.

Excellent winter read

Big adventure, took the first book to acclimatise to all the characters, and then we were off, I have always enjoyed books where the author compartmentalises each separate set of characters then pulls it all together for the big reveal and story conclusion. Loved it, thanks.
