When your life has been planned for you from the moment you were born, there isn’t room to be yourself. Born to accomplished Atlanta lawyers, Megan Reese has been given a path to take, under the watchful eye of her strict parents. There is no room for slip-ups in their world, and Megan has never been given the opportunity to be her own person until her childhood crush re-enters her life.
After eight years across the pond to avoid his life, and his parents incessant need for him to use his genius for good, Spencer Grant has returned to Atlanta to escape his mistakes in Europe. But when fate steps in and tempts him with the sweetest Peach he’s ever encountered, Spencer finds himself wondering, is Megan influencing him to be a better person or is she the one being Influenced?
Shannon Youngblood is a thirty something, foul mouthed, erotic romance writer, who loves telling a story full of broken pieces, and broken people. There is no subject too graphic, or too taboo, to grace the pages of her stories. Shannon believes that life is not always Happily Ever Afters and Flowers, and sometimes her stories might reflect that. (Non HEA's OH NO!) Shannon loves hearing from her amazing, dirty minded fans as well! Be sure to follow her on her social media sites!
This story was really sweet. The authors do a great job of showing the growth of both characters. While the book labels him as a bad boy he's far from it. I thought this book wouldn't fall into the plot trap of misunderstanding which causes girl to break up with love of her life. Turns out, I was mistaken and that's why I'm giving it a four and instead of five stars. The ending had me baffled because why would you leave someone you can't live without with no facts or even listening to him? I thought that piece was added to create conflict that wasn't necessary to the story. I think the story could have had more meaning if it would have dealt with the emotional abuse Megan receives from her mom and the trauma she experienced as a teen. All the other elements like the chemistry between the two characters was 🔥. Overall good story looking forward to reading more from this author.
Spencer Grant and Meghan Reese are as different as Night and Day. What they have in common is that they need each other.
I really identified with Meghan and her need to please. It's amazing when you find someone who help you stand up for yourself and spread your wings. Reese and Meghan are a wonderful couple who have to over come their past in order to share a future of their own making.
WHAT A FREAKING AWESOME LOVE STORY!!! YOU HAVE LITTLE MEAGAN WHO HAS GROWN UP UNDER HER MOTHER AND FATHERS RULES. HAVING A MOTHER THAT EXPECTS NOTHING LESS THAN PERFECTION IS A HARD MATTER TO TEND TO ON ITS OWN. MEGAN IS BROUGHT IN FOR An INTERNSHIP AT HER PARENTS LAW FIRM THAT THEY SHARE WITH THEIR COLLEGE FRIENDS. MEGAN WAS ALWAYS IN LOVE WITH SPENCER, AS LONG AS SHE CAN REMEMBER. SPENCER BEING 8 YEARS HER SENIOR AND JUST GETTING BACK FROM HIS EXCURSION IN EUROPE, WHERE HE RAN INTO SOME ISSUES THERE. HE HAPPENED TO BE HIRED AS THE OFFICE PARALEGAL, AND GUESS WHO WILL BE WORKING UNDER HIM? YUP MEAGAN (PEACHES). BOTH HAVE GROWN UP AND NOW THEY ARE LEFT WITH FIGURING OUT HOW EACH OTHER FEELS.... GET THE BOOK ALREADY! THE STEAM AND ROMANCE AND LOVE AND ENJOYMENT THAT ALL COMES FROM READING THIS STORY JUST MAKES ME SO HAPPY THAT I READ IT AND ENJOYED IT AS MUCH AS I DID. **HONEST TIME** I DID GET TO A PART THAT MADE ME SCARED TO FINISH THE STORY BECAUSE I DIDNT KNOW THE OUTCOME, BEING THAT I AM AN AVID READER OF BOTH SHANNON AND JANAE'S BOOKS, SO I HAD NO CLUE WHAT TO EXPECT. SO I DID STOP READING FOR A FEW DAYS AND EVEN REACHED OUT TO ONE OF THEM TO ASK WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, SHE WAS A ***** AND REFUSED TO ANSWER ME, SO I READ IT AND FINISHED AND CRIED A LITTLE BUT AT THE END OF IT, I WAS SO TOUCHED AND HAPPY. THIS BOOK DOES HAVE A HEA!!!!
I've never read a book by Janae Keyes or Shannon Youngblood. I stumbled across this one while browsing Amazon, got a sample through Kindle Unlimited and by the time I finished the sample, knew that I was going to download the entire book. And I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed it! Love Spenser and absolutely HATED Marian! Now I'm going to check out books by both authors. Great job ladies!
This was my first book read by author Shannon Youngblood. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading many more. It's every girl's dream come true to marry your girlhood crush and become the love of his life
I have read books by author Shannon Youngblood in the past but this is a first book by author Janae Keyes. I an glad I picked this book up to read, it is a great read. The characters are well developed, and believable and so easy to feel for. The story flows nicely at a good pace giving just enough detail to make it real without and not over doing it. The roller coaster of emotions these two authors take you on while reading this book is epic. Happiness, sadness, laughter and anger will grip you from the first page to the last, while the hot and steamy scenes will make this book impossible to put down. A must read.
I loved it. The story is crisp and the characters are well developed. I couldn't put it down. Marian is a cold hearted woman. She didn't protect her only child when she needed her the most. And poor Dexter stood by her antics, the ones he was aware of, that made sense to him. But I was a little disappointed in Megan to all of a sudden have more trust in her mom instead of Spencer. She made me proud when she allowed herself to hear Spencer side of his debacle. Too bad for Marian, she need a real pill.
Great characters, great storyline... We need a little bit more physical description of the characters... There is lot of "typos" that need to be corrected, among them Megan's father was both Dexter and Derek. It was nice to see little Olllie or Oli ( both spelling in the book) interaction with his dad and grandparents... Who does he looks like?? No interaction with his mom!? 👍
I would give this a 3.5. I enjoyed the concept of this book and there are some really sweet moments and then some erotic moments butI feel like things just happen to fast between spencer and megan. It seems a rushed and I feel like there is little character development.
Megan Reese has known Spencer Grant her entire life, from an annoying kid to love-struck adolescence Spencer has been Megan’s vision of a knight in shining armor. Now she’s finished school and they are working as colleagues at the same law firm and things begin to heat up for the star-crossed lovers… Love is in their future if they can navigate familial treachery and secrets that Spencer would rather not have come to light.
This is the second novel that I’ve read by Shannon Youngblood and the first by Janae Keyes. I was surprised, but pleasantly so by this well-written novel that’s filled with angst, heartbreak and a fair amount of heat. It’s a real departure from Shannon’s usually darker fare and I enjoyed it. Influenced is written with solid main characters, with enough details to truly make you feel for both Megan and Spencer.
This is the type of IR novel I like, no stereotyping or fetishizing here. Any mention of race is incidental and not what drives the story. A formula I wish more authors who write IR would follow.
I hope this isn’t the last collaboration between Shannon and Janae and in the meantime, I’ll check out what each author does individually!
This book was gifted to me in exchange for an unbiased review!
Great story! I've never read anything of Janae Keys, but I will try some other things! I loved Shannon's Chub Rub and her writing style....So this was a pleasant surprise and different from what I've read of hers. There were a few inconsistencies with the story...But nothing that really took from the reading experience. Spencer was a great Alpha take charge type of guy that could really draw Peaches out of her shell. I hated how her parents treated her and the way she was so different with them. The whole date at the Aquarium...swoon! I would probably marry a guy that could pull that off and spent that much planning on me! Loved it! A great read!
