This is the first book in the Kindred Series and have fallen in love with another book by Frey Ortega The Characters are Vampires that have lived a long life and have become jaded in some views. We meet Bastian as he comes to the Casino with his father. Which is father is up to no good we find out what will Bastien due when he finds out that his father is gone and now his debt is owed to Cyrus. Cyrus is the head of his family and when he meets Bastien he is turn on is head. Can these two that fate has given to each other be able to overcome the odds that are stack against them and the ones that wish to destroy them? Can’t wait to read more about Canute and his kindred. Highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next one which I hope is soon

I had a problem from the start with the killing of Bastien’s father. He wasn’t a good man and he was abusive to Bastien, but I am conflicted as to whether or not he deserved to die the way he did. It just seemed a bit excessive to me. Also I had a hard time believing Bastien took everything so well, especially in the beginning. I think I would have enjoyed the story more if Bastien fought a bit more at the start.

I did like the conflict in the story and reading about the conclave and the plot against Cyrus. I loved Canute and cannot wait to read his story. Also loved Gunner. Just wished we could have met his young niece. Maybe he’ll get his own story eventually. I didn’t love this story, but liked enough that I’ll definitely read the next one in the series.

A wonderful new world by Frey Ortega.

Cryus is what you think of when you think of "Vampire". He is rich, devastatingly handsome, powerful, and wise from all his years on this Earth. It always gets me when a paranormal being "sees" their mate for the first time. I get all starry-eyed.

Bastien had a very hard life. Now that he knows about Cyrus' world, he has a lot to think about. Once Cyrus opens his eyes to all that goes with mating, it is Cyrus who releases a beast. They are truly HOT together!!!

My favorite part was when Bastien finally decided to stop being a victim and saved the day with the one thing that ways set his mind at ease. I won't tell you what that was though, you will have to read the book and find that out for yourself.

Expertly conceived!

Cyrus had been around for a thousand years. He never thought he would meet his Kindred, the one soul created to balance his own. Now he has to protect his hotel and family and somehow convince his Kindred to stay with him. This is a sweet and passionate tale full of excitement. It's definitely part of a series and you'll want them all!

The characters were very likeable and well written and the story was interesting. I felt like Bastien was too understanding when it was revealed that Cyrus was a vampire, but I like the idea of the kindred. The rest of this series should be a lot of fun.

Pleasant read

I enjoyed the story, and the world building was familiar but unique enough to pique interest. The writing felt a bit awkward at times, word choices seemed stilted, but maybe in an attempt to portray the age of the MC and the European setting.

DNF 42%. Can only handle "Little Treasure" so many times. I was finding myself skipping large chunks... but it never seemed that way because they just kept repeating themselves and so it never felt like it was advancing so I just can't continue with this book.

Nice

This was a fairly well paced story. The author did not drag anything out. It showed the various plots and deceptions at play in the world of vampires. Cyrus was likeable.

Cyrus by Frey Ortega is the first book in the Kindred series. This read was pretty good for a start to a series. There is a ton of information that sometimes took me out of the love story, but a lot of times first books in a series do that. As for the love story itself, fairly good. I think I would have a better feel for the story in book two. There was a lot of introduction which you need in this first book. I also need to get a better feel for some of the characters.
Bastian he comes to the casino with his father. He is a quiet, sweet, artistic man. His father doesn't respect him cause Bastian is gay. He is 19 and very innocent.
Cyrus is the opposite he is jaded. Far older. Hard worker who hates cleaning up other people's messes. He has a great heart. But can be vicious if need be after all he is an immortal vampire.
Over all a great start to what promises to be a very interesting series. I would love to see book two and find out who falls in love next and just how the bond of the kindred works over time.

Oh my Lord!!

What a great Starr to a new series. This was sooooo good. I loved the characters and the story line. This is Bastien and Cyrus's story. Cyrus is a vampire thousands of years old. He's tired of dealing with the stupid stuff on his life. When a man whose gambled to much is brought to his attention he really doesn't care. Except when the man is willing to give his son for his debt and the nasty things that come out of his mouth is enough to sign his death warrant. When Bastein is placed in a holding cell because of his father it's nothing new. He's used to being beaten and talked down to. When he learns the president of the casino wants to see him he wanders just how much trouble their in. Cyrus is floored to learn that the man he just killed is his kindred father how can they move past that? When other vampires show up laying claim to Bastein Cyrus losses it he will not let his kindred heart become nothing more than a blood pet. All he needs to do his tell Bastein vampires are real and they are soul mates no problem lol.
