Wendy è l’avvocato divorzista che ha minacciato i fidanzati di Piper di fare loro del male se l’avessero ferita, e il suo lavoro l’ha portata a essere molto sfiduciata sulle relazioni interpersonali. Anche a causa del passato dei due uomini, l’accordo è di mantenere la storia solo sul piano occasionale e non sentimentale.
Questo diventerà un problema quando Wendy si accorgerà che la piccola percentuale di inefficacia del preservativo è toccata a lei. Il dramma per la piccola dose di sfortuna si somma a sentimenti crescenti per i due uomini, che poi finiscono per passare con lei anche tutta la giornata lavorativa: le loro vite infatti si intrecciano quando lei eredita da un padre che non ha mai conosciuto una quota di un’azienda che deve guadagnarsi con l’aiuto di un avvocato e di un architetto. Il trio inizia quindi a convivere in tutti i sensi, sia sul lavoro che in tutti i momenti liberi e il legame si fa sempre più forte.
Non c’è però tempo per svelare tutti i sentimenti e le emozioni che provano, perché alcuni ostacoli si frappongono nella loro relazione inserendo dubbi e fraintendimenti, oltre a situazioni di pericolo. Ed è proprio a causa di queste che i due uomini fanno la scelta di allontanarsi per proteggersi l’un l’altro. Fino a quando la rivelazione della gravidanza mette l’ultimo bastone tra le ruote a questo rapporto ancora troppo fresco per resistere alla notizia, nonostante i sentimenti che già covano sotto la cenere.
Nel momento in cui, anziché fuggire e piangersi addosso, i tre protagonisti decidono di essere onesti con gli altri e svelare le loro aspettative, scoprono che tutti desiderano la stessa cosa, ovvero trasformare questo legame in qualcosa di serio e considerare la gravidanza un’opportunità per vivere una relazione solida, reale, appagante per tutti.

Con questa serie si va piuttosto sul sicuro: siamo certi di trovare una trama poco introspettiva ma allo stesso tempo intrigante e con un bel mix di mistero, drammi personali, enigmi, pericolo. Tutto questo alimenta uno spettro di emozioni diverse e represse nei personaggi e rende appassionante la lettura.
Come già visto in altri episodi, le caratterizzazioni non sono particolarmente profonde, non c’è uno spessore psicologico o personalità che distinguono molto i due uomini dando loro identità differenti. Pur avendo problemi e storie personali da risolvere, nel menage i due maschi si muovono sempre in coppia, come un’unica mente e un unico corpo; il rapporto tra loro è sempre senza contrasti, regalandoci un triangolo privo di complessità.
Stavolta, a differenza delle trame precedenti, la relazione a tre viene messa in discussione a causa degli eventi e quindi ostacolata dal pericolo in cui incorre la protagonista. I due uomini smettono di vederla per proteggerla, e la trama si fa quindi ancora più appassionante.
Il timore di perdere la propria donna rievoca un trauma personale in Asher, mentre Hudson ha paura di essere manipolato e tradito. Essendo i loro timori direttamente legati alla relazione, anziché a vicende familiari o di altra natura, abbiamo una storia un filo più contrastata che, inoltre, riesce a trasmettere anche una maggiore introspezione.
Ora le cose mi sembrano diverse. La settimana scorsa ho imparato molto su entrambi. Sono ancora due uomini meravigliosi ma non sono più quella fantasia. "The Wager" is the third book in the Menage in Manhattan series; it is the story of Wendy, Hudson, and Archer. This series revolves around a set of girlfriends, but each book is about a different couple. Wendy is a strong independent woman who does not trust men thanks to the father she never knew. Then she meets Asher and Hudson, and all bets are off. They share women, which is a little unconventional to Wendy but oh so appealing. A surprise pregnancy later, and it makes for one fantastic story. I loved that Wendy was not a damsel in distress or the poor girl who meets the billionaires. Each one of them has a successful career and lead good lives. They are not without their problems, but together they can conquer the world.
This book has just enough romance, angst, a baddie you love to hate, and some smoking sexy times.

This isn't my first book by Tara Crescent but, my first in this series. Even though this is a stand alone and didn't need anything extra to follow I will go back and read the previous 3 books since they follow a lot of the same people.
Wendy is a divorce lawyer who unexpectedly meets two very alpha, very dominant men (Hudson and Asher) during a incident in a club. She spots them again several days later again completely unexpectedly and she unwillingly becomes a target. When Wendy learns she's been mentioned in a will by her father she's genuinely shocked even more shocked when she learns the details of the will and becomes enemy number to her stepbrother.
There's quite a bit of twists and turns in this book and a lot of heat!!! This is probably my favorite book by Tara Crescent so far.
Even though this is a MFM book, she is the only focus.

3.5 stars. Cute, sexy, enjoyable, a little angsty, unexpected baby MFM menage. This was Wendy, Asher, and Hudson's story. It was an easy read that kept my focus, even if it was lacking something to make it extra special. Still, I enjoyed it and will read more of this series in the future.

Mich hatte das Buch ja ab den ersten Seiten schon. Die anderen beiden Bände fand ich extrem gut & auch Band 3 reiht sich da ein. Asher, Hudson & Wendy haben mich auf ganzer Linie überzeugt. Wendy hatte es nie leicht, hat sich angestrengt & hat aus ihrem Leben was gemacht. Sie ist stark, taff & weiß was sie will, sie ist eine Kämpfererin & lässt sich nicht unterkriegen auch wenn es aussichtslos scheint. Dieses Buch hatte alles. Liebe, Sehnsucht, tiefe Freundschaft, prickelnde Erotik, Familienfehden & Intrigen. Eine Geschichte die bis zum Schluss spannend blieb.

I read the blurb on this book and just had to find out how it would end. It sounded like a book that I wouldn't be able to put down and I was right.
Wendy is a workaholic and doesn't trust men. Just because of what her father did to her mother. She is also a divorce attorney and she see's relationships going bad everyday. So imagine her surprise when she meets Asher and Hudson. They are both not wanting a relationship. They've all been there and have the scars to prove it.
I had to see how these three would make their relationship work. There were times that Asher made me a little mad and I couldn't believe that these two could put Wendy through what they did. Doesn't matter what excuse they used.
I will warn you that this is a M/F/M book and the sex is really hot between all three. I have to say that I loved the ending and I can't wait to read more by this author.

So Tara Crescent does it again! I am so in love with this series! With that said Wagering on Wendy did not let me down. Wendy is a divorce lawyer who has worked hard for everything she has. When she meets Hudson and Asher she starts to think about what it would be like to be with 2 men, especially since her best friends are all in menage' relationships.
When Wendy is summoned to the reading of the will of the man who paid her mom off and never looked back. She has no idea the can of worms this will unleash in her life. I won't share anymore but you really should read this book to see what happens!
I look forward to reading more by Tara Crescent! I recommend everyone do themselves a favor and read her books!

I bought this book because of all the 4 and 5 star reviews not just on goodread but Kindle as well. The book as a whole was good, but not oh my goodness best book I've read all year. As far as the menage goes I've definitely read better over the years, the sex sex scenes are basically PG-13. I like a little more action especially if you're reading a book about a menage, details are good. Around chapter 27 I just started to skimming the pages and really did not miss much over all. Asher and Hudson are OK, and I really like Wendy's sassy attitude take no BS off anyone.

Hard ass lawyer Wendy is distrustful of men since her father has never acknowledged her, until now. Thrown into a war with her step brother over family inheritance she turns to her one night stand guys Asher & Hudson. Finally in a menage like the rest of her group of girlfriends she then turns weak and second guesses herself over her relationship with the guys especially when she learns she's pregnant. I didn't care for this one of the series at all. In the other books, Wendy was strong and confident and this one she turns weak and emotional.

La protagonista è Wendy un avvocato divorzista che dedica la sua vita al lavoro e alle sue amiche storiche. Non ha mai conosciuto il padre, anche se sa chi è, ed è cresciuta con la madre. Quando scopre che il padre è morto decide di andare a bere al bar per non pensarci e qui incontra per la prima volta Asher e Hudson. Di nome li conosceva già perché sono un architetto e un avvocato famosissimi ma conoscerli di persona è tutta un'altra cosa. Dopo qualche battuta si mettono d'accordo per uscire insieme il venerdì sera ma con grand sorpresa si incontreranno il venerdì pomeriggio. Wendy infatti viene convocata alla lettura del testamento del padre e la stessa sorte capita ad Asher e Hudson. I due uomini odiavano il padre di Wendy ma ancor di più odiano il suo fratellastro ma vengono coinvolti bella gara aziendale. Infatti prima di morire il padre lascia a Wendy e al fratellastro due progetti da completare e chi lo fa nei migliori dei modi sarà il Ceo dell'azienda. Ovviamente il fratellastro non la prenderà bene e farà di tutto per ostacolare Wendy tra sotterfugi, minacce, ricatti e quant'altro. Tra Asher, Hudson e Wendy ci sarà un'attrazione fatale ma senza impegno e andrà tutto bene finché le paure del passato non tornano nel presente e soprattutto perché Wendy resta incinta.
Oramai Tara Crescent è una garanzia e i suoi romanzi hanno sempre delle trame avvincenti. Si certo i menage ci sono stupende le scene a tre ma la trama si reggerebbe anche se fosse un romanzo M/F e trovare romanzi con menagè e una trama ricca e consistente è davvero difficile.
Wendy è una dura e vorrebbe fare tutto da sola, soprattutto dopo aver capito cosa ha subito la madre, ma sa che ci sono momenti in cui bisogna cedere ed è proprio questo suo carattere combattivo che attrae Asher e Hudson. Loro sono protettivi e sanno di dover difendere Wendy dal fratellastro pronto a tutto e lo faranno a costo della propria felicità.
Un romanzo davvero bello che vi consiglio soprattutto se amate il genere romance.

“The Wager” was really good! I stumbled upon this book when I was searching for an MFM to read between ARCs, and I was pleasantly surprised! This was a quick, intriguing, and spicy read!

This is a MFM ménage book, and the main characters are Wendy, Hudson and Asher. Wendy is a divorce lawyer, Hudson is an architect, and Asher is a corporate lawyer. The three met at a club when the two guys notice that Wendy is trying to take on a big dude who keeps messing with another girl. After helping Wendy out, the three of them get to talking, then Hudson and Asher ask her to go out to dinner with them tomorrow night. Before Wendy meets up with the two of them the next day, she finds out her estranged father has passed away and she will need to attend the will reading. But when Hudson and Asher show up to the will reading as well, Wendy is caught off guard but also curious as to their connection with her father. But, during the will reading, Wendy finds out that she and her crazed step-brother must participate in a contest, which was planned out by their father before he passed, and whoever wins the contest, inherits their father’s construction company. Hudson and Asher decide to step up and team up with Wendy to beat out her step-brother (who they both hate) since she will need an architect and a lawyer on her side. After the will reading, they go to dinner but Hudson and Asher say they will not have “relations” with her until their next meet up since Wendy has drank a lot and had a bad day. But when they all meet up the next day, Wendy finds out that two men is better than one… except when she eventually finds out she is pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is.

This is a MFM ménage book, and the main characters are Wendy, Hudson and Asher. Wendy is a divorce lawyer, Hudson is an architect, and Asher is a corporate lawyer. The three met at a club when the two guys notice that Wendy is trying to take on a big dude who keeps messing with another girl. After helping Wendy out, the three of them get to talking, then Hudson and Asher ask her to go out to dinner with them tomorrow night. Before Wendy meets up with the two of them the next day, she finds out her estranged father has passed away and she will need to attend the will reading. But when Hudson and Asher show up to the will reading as well, Wendy is caught off guard but also curious as to their connection with her father. But, during the will reading, Wendy finds out that she and her crazed step-brother must participate in a contest, which was planned out by their father before he passed, and whoever wins the contest, inherits their father’s construction company. Hudson and Asher decide to step up and team up with Wendy to beat out her step-brother (who they both hate) since she will need an architect and a lawyer on her side. After the will reading, they go to dinner but Hudson and Asher say they will not have “relations” with her until their next meet up since Wendy has drank a lot and had a bad day. But when they all meet up the next day, Wendy finds out that two men is better than one… except when she eventually finds out she is pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is.

This is the first of the Playing For Love Series that i have read and although it is book four, it can certainly be read as a standalone....but be warned it's going to make you want to go back and read the previous three as I am sure some of the characters that pop up have had their own stories that I am dying now to catch up on!
Tara has written a great ménage story in this book. A hard woman with two sexy men who together just simply work in an immense story that has highs and lows, intrigue and drama, suspense and tension. Wendy is a beautifully written character and Asher and Hudson are sexy hot men who are able to support Wendy when she needs it most. A gorgeous story that is of course sexy and steamy but also has depth and a brilliant emotional story that threads between that a lot of authors miss writing the steamy ménage scenes. Tara has managed to do both and I love this. I can't wait to read more from her.....and another tip, be aware that once you start this book, you won't put it down until it is finished!

Just beautiful, two men who swore off relationships find love with a divorce attorney!

When Wendy’s father died he had set up a contest between her and her half brother who hated her. The project that was successful, that person would become the CEO of the construction company. I enjoyed this story and it was well worth my time.

The Wager is a fantastic contemporary romance by Tara Crescent. This is a M/F/M menage store though so it may not be for everyone. Ms. Crescent has penned a well-written book and populated it with spectacular characters. Wendy is a lawyer and learns the father she never met has died, Asher heads Fleming Architecture and Asher went from district attorney to corporate lawyer. Their story is loaded with drama, humor, steamy sexy bits, and a few twists thrown in. I enjoyed this book and look forward to my next book by Tara Crescent. The Wager, previously titled Wagering on Wendy, is book 3 of the Menage in Manhattan Series but it can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

The models for the cover are perfect.
You know how some book covers miss the whole concept of a story? Not this one. To see it is to know the sexy half of this story. The models look exactly like the characters I pictured in my mind's eye. But that is only part of the story. The author added in cerebral content, some suspense and thriller elements. There's a business and a contest and a nefarious half, jerk-wad brother. But the FMC has these two amazing f__k buddies, who turn into friends and then so much more. It's a happily-ever-after; and really, I wish there were so many more of those in real life.

Oh Yes!
Asher, Wendy & Hudson are AMAZING!! Wendy is by far my favorite heroine from this series so far! She is so fierce and a true fighter to her core and nothing can stop this woman!! Not even two of the hottest bachelors! I loved the story from start to finish and though there were times when one or the other guy was acting a fool but they were super quick to rectify their behavior! I wanted to see Wendy make them gravel a tad more than she did but she’ll get her justice lol!!

4.5 🌟 Defending the weak
2 Attorneys, different fields, yet defend the weak and defenseless. An Architect who only wants to work with the upstanding. All have commitment issues, yet when they come together, work together as a team, they realize the 3 make a complete loving package. The intimacy scenes weren't over the top, rather tame from Ms. Crescent. Overall quality of writing was really good with well rounded characters and storyline. No cliffhanger or cheating and you get a happy ever after. Enjoy 🤓

Keeps getting hotter!
Over read very book in this series and I'm a huge fan of each. The newest book does not disappoint. Yes the bedroom scenes are hot so hot. The men are rich, hot, and know how to treat their women. The women are smart, strong, and brave. If you don't like hot, rich men giving a women their sole devotion then this book is not for you. However if you do like fantasy, insta love, alpha men, and hot love scene s then I highly recommend this series to you.

I enjoyed how each of the friends ,met up with their 2 male friends. I finished book 4, about Wendy, and saw was a book 5, about Miki,but didnt download, or was available, even though ,it said was available spring 2017. Love to read that one ,also,if it is available.Loved the friends, meeting with these handsome guys, falling in love. Sexy , hot, adventurious,. Stories pull u right in, thinking you are the character.

Wendy really went through some things in this one. From her delightful one night, to learning someone who ignored her, her whole life, now has her being a pawn in a stupid game. It's nice she has the guys for support, but it isn't an easy road for them. All of them have some hot buttons that get pushed and cause issues. Finally they figure out what is important, them as a trio and they have a solid front to fight things off so that they can have a happy life.

Wendy is wonderful!
I have enjoyed the heck out of this entire series! I started with Bailey and ended with Miki! Such well written stories. I loved that each book in this series (4 books) has a certain theme in different careers,, but with such great endings! After I read the first one I had to read them all. Great work Tara Cresent!

My favorite guilty pleasure
This book has just enough romance, angst, a baddie you love to hate, and some smoking sexy times. Wendy is as protective and self sufficient as any guy. Hudson and Asher have baggage, but Wendy is not like other women they have dated. Their story is a fun read.

Good Book
I have enjoyed Wendy, Asher & Hudson’s story and what her father did to her was so wrong especially when he knew what was happening so he could have gotten in touch with her.
Thorne was an utter pig and deserved what happened but Wendy was a little too nice at the end I would have left him to his own fate considering what he did to her and her Mom.
