Belle Abbott is pathologically shy. Because of this, she’s living a nightmare due to the fact that she’s also a national treasure hounded by the media. James Bennett is known the world over as the perfect catch—handsome, wealthy and the owner of an intimidating castle on a Cornish Cliff, Chy An Als Point. Belle and James meet and in one night, they fall in love. The problem is, Belle’s dating James’s brother. As quickly as they fall together, Belle and James are torn apart. Not long after, circumstances throw them back into each other’s lives and they find they were right that first romantic night. They were meant to be. Even if their families want them together, James’s brother Miles does not. Dogged by a rabid media who are fascinated by their love triangle, as well as Belle’s hidden demons, James and Belle find they have yet another problem to solve. The Point is haunted by the ghosts of two children murdered in the castle. And their murderer will stop at nothing to keep their souls tethered to The Point instead of letting them live eternity with their mother and father. Belle is determined to find her courage and help them. To do this, she enlists her loopy mother, loopier grandmother, James’s even loopier ex-girlfriend and the dubious (but talented) team of rock ’n’ roll witch Cassandra McNabb and Scottish ghost-hunter extraordinaire Angus McPherson to help the children find their way back home.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Pre-review:

YEP. Belle and Jack are definitely one of the best couples in this series. And BONUS, I'd completely forgotten that KA sets us up for yet another installment, so there's something to look forward to . . .

BUT.

It's all well and good that we're getting Lachlan and Emma's story, but what about Lorna? What about Mickey Dempsey and Yasmin and MILES?!

Full RTC.

5 Amazing Stars. (And if I could give more, wouldn't even hesitate.)

This story begins in a party where Bella she doesn't feel comfortable in the middle of a date with Miles. In that party she meets James (Jack, for friends), Miles older brother, and immediately they feel a connection between them and they spend the night together.. (Don’t thing bad of them because of this, they are not the bad part in this situation: P). But a misunderstanding makes Bella run away and for the next three months Jack tries his best to forget about her. Until an event “forces” them to live together under the roof of Jack’s mansion and that’s when Bella see the two ghosts of little child for the first time. She knows they have to help them at the same time Jack is doing everything to win Bella again. When they finally get together again, they realize they are more connected to those child ghosts that they could imagine and help them could risk not only their love, but also their lives.

I loved this book. If I could marry it, I would. This became one of my favorite KA series and this is now my favorite book of hers. (And I have a lot of KA favorites.)
Somehow she managed to mix child ghosts, reincarnation, tragedies, bad pasts, secrets all into one story and delivered an amazing romantic novel in a way only she could have done: Brilliantly. This is definitely one of those books I know I’ll re-read a thousand times and I’ll never grow tired of it. Yeah, I’m in love.

Rating: 5 Stars.
Characters Development: Belle was slightly different than other KA heroines, she didn’t have attitude (much), she wasn’t sassy, she was just a sweet girl with a bad past. I really liked her, even when I didn’t agree with some of her attitudes and stubbornness. Jack was, also, slightly different from other KA heroes. He was completely alpha, but he wasn’t a badass and he was sweeter than KA got us used too. He’s probably my favorite KA hero so far. (And he topped Lee, which I thought never would happen!).
As ever in these books, a completely nuts, funny and amazing group of supporting characters.
Steam: Some hotness.
Sensible Subjects:
Love Triangle:

4.5 Stars! In my book...another winner for KA!!

KA takes a despicable hero, someone you want to hate, because of his inconsiderate and bossy ways, and has you wanting him for your own by the end of the book. I just fell in love with Jack! I adored Belle! She was so darling and had no idea the impact she had on those around her. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop from infatuation into love.

There is sadness, plenty of humor, a cast of quirky characters…KA style. It’s a fun, but at the same time, heart-wrenching story, as only this author can write. There is a beautiful epilogue for Jack and Belle, plus the suggestion that two troubled souls, one I liked and the other one I did by the end of the book, would find solace in each other and get their HEA too, made me very happy, because I was hoping for it. They had key roles in the story and needed some good in their lives. And, if I’m correct, it looks like one of my favorite secondary characters and his insane relatives will have a book too. Woohoo…Lachlan…RAWRRR!!

My favorite quote:

They heard Rachel’s giggle and Jensen’s laugh as Joy rushed back in.
“What’d I miss?” Jack’s mother asked excitedly.
“Well, we’re not having a party and, apparently, Jensen and Rachel are off for a twelve hour sex-a-thon,” Yasmin answered. “Other than that, you didn’t miss much.”
“Ah,” Joy sat in the corner of the couch Jensen and Rachel just vacated and went on dreamily, “Young love.”
“Joy, they’re both fifty-five years old,” Lila told her.
Joy looked at Belle, winked and amended, “Ah, young-at-heart love.”

If I remember correctly Joy is 70! So cute! I always enjoy the older relationships in KA’s book, she knows how to spread the love around, gives this 55 year old hope!

This was another great installment in this series of stand-alone books about the paranormal!

*Thanks to my dear friend Dorsey for telling me how good this was…spot on again my friend*

This is by far my favourite of this series!

It is truly truly beautiful.

From Jack, who is just the perfect man, and had no truly idiot man moments, to Belle, who is brilliant, and a little bit different to the usual KA heroine, to the entire story, there is not one bit of this story that was not utter perfection for me.

The paranormal element in this book is heartbreaking at times. It is a very emotionally charged read that will have you crying at times.

Yet, there is a wonderful addition of secondary characters that provide some much needed lighter moments.

Truly truly wonderful.

Lucky Stars is the fifth book in the Ghosts and Reincarnation series and another awesome story! Romantic, sexy, funny, passionate… this book has all the things I love most about Kristen Ashley’s stories, and then some.

The supernatural theme of this series is great. I love how the ‘wee ghosties’, as “Ghost Helper” Angus McPherson, who, dressed in full Scottish gear – kilt, hose, sporran, garter flashes, knife in his sock, ghillie brogues, top-to-toe Scottish gear, refers to them, always tie in with the romance some way. They’re heartwarming, tragic, hopeful stories about souls bound to earth for one reason or another, and I guess that’s part of what I love most about these stories – they’re real ghosts, not those goofy Scooby Doo cartoon ghosts who aren’t ghosts at all but some illegitimate caretaker trying to scare off his sister’s half cousin twice removed by a legal decree so he can inherit the ancestral home sitting on a goldmine which isn’t actually a goldmine… well, you get the idea. These are honest to goodness ghosts and reincarnated souls and I adore them, each and every one!

Another plus to this series is that the books are very, very loosely related with no plot carryover at all. So jump in with whichever book sounds good and don’t worry about missing anything! Just sit back and enjoy!

Ehh, an alright read, but boring. Though predictable, I was still surprised at that heartbreaking scene/moment/chapter and, frankly, I hadn't expected that turn. But with that damn insta-love and everything being all lovey-dovey (even if the h was shy and scared), the book just wasn't for me. Belle Abbot (35) and James “Jack” Bennett (38) was also alright characters to follow, but there was nothing special about them, though, of course, Jack was hot, as all KA alpha males is, but he wasn't too alpha and commanding. If you know me then you know I love over-the-top alpha males, so Jack was awesome and hot, and I liked him a lot, but I didn't love him.
When he caught her eyes, he spoke. “If you let me in, poppet, even a little bit, I’ll prove it to you. I promise you, I’ll make you understand. This, whatever it is, and we both feel it, is right.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance
Series: - Series, Book Five
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - James “Jack” Bennett
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Probably.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Sure.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2.5 stars.

*****5 I loved Lucky Stars*****

I love the relationship between Belle and Jack, they meet one night spend the night together the next morning IT IS ALL TORN APART, 3 months later they meet up and everything changes from there.

Their relationship is a roller coaster of emotions sexy, hot, sweet and very sad. Love all the gang Joy, Rachel, Lila, Yasmin, Angus, Cass and even Miles (by the end) they can be funny. The story with Lewis and Myrtle is so sad.

Sad that this is the last in the Ghost & Reincarnation series as I found this series very emotional, each book has made me cry each story has a heart breaking story within the story, ALL Kristen Ashley fans should read this series.

Overall Opinion: This was a cute story. I wanted something different and I got it! I've never liked the instalove trope, and that was a problem for me here. I like to experience them falling in love as a process not instantly! Ms. Ashley does give us some drama to prevent it from being an easy road of unicorns and rainbows though...so that made it a little more bearable tbh. It was fun, a good escape, but it's not going to find its home on my favorites shelf.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Belle and Jack's story. Super shy Belle has been labeled the "tiny dynamo" for saving a bunch of children after their bus fell over a bridge. She finds herself in the spotlight and her newest dilemma is that she is forced to go to a very public birthday party for the mother of the man she's been dating for a month. She doesn't expect to meet Jack, his brother, and for them to connect instantly. After some family drama, some unexpected surprises, a couple of ghosts in the family castle, and some sexy times...they get a HEA ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Belle's POV and focusing on Jack (and other side characters) in 3rd person narrative.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed...but it definitely felt long at times (probably because it is)!

Instalove: Yes. They claim (in inner dialogue) to have fallen in love the first night they met. I personally like a little more development of feelings to be able to feel the connection.

H (Hero) rating: 3.5 stars. Jack. He was a pretty typical KA hero that is possessive, bossy, and sweet when he needed to be. I just felt like we didn't really get to know him as much as I would've but liked.

h (heroine) rating: 3.5 stars. Belle. She was alright. I got that she was shy and quirky, but I didn't really like the naivety she sometimes displayed.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Yes

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had an alright epilogue with a HEA ending

Safety: This one is probably either Safe with exception or Not Safe for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences.

Spoilers ahead

Random thoughts

Belle and Jack meet as she's dating his brother, the connection between them is strong however and they sleep together. Belle overhears Jack's mother and his ex now friend saying he wanted her because of a competition with his brother. She being a typical KA h reacts emotionally and refuses to listen to Jack and flees into the night
Months later her mother and grandmother show up to tell him she's pregnant
He immediately takes control of everything and moves her into his home
But with her crazy relatives, his mom ex and brother as well as ghost hunters and actual ghosts things get a little bit crazy

*********
The plot of this one was probably the weakest in the series,a lot of things including his brother's wicked deeds are explained away due to spirit possession and it was just too convenient
Jack was another overly bossy hero who wanted things run HIS way
Belle was another shy sweet weak willed h only she had the distinction of being a hero after she saved some children from drowning
There were some sweet moments between the couple, some funny moments with the secondary characters and a pleasing ending for the ghost children but this was a aeak ending to a just ok series

No cheating
His ex was around but she's now a family friend
Belle had been dating his brother for a little while but she didn't really like him and they never had sex
No mention if he'd been celibate during the separation but I'm choosing to believe he was
Belle was pushed down the steps and so lost her baby

******In almost every book in this series the H says the h was the "best he'd ever had......and he'd had a lot" why the hell was that necessary???

This was a really good read, and a wonderful addition to the "Ghosts & Reincarnation" Series.

Once again Ms. Ashley DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT! (I really don't think she can write a bad story!)

The characters were great (especially Rachel, Lila, and Jenny (loved Belle's Dad!))
...and Jack *sigh*.... Jack, what can I say ....He was everything I would expect a KA kick-ass, alpha-male to be!

The writing and storyline were also amazing!

I loved the addition of Lochlan & Lorna to the mix of things, and I CANNOT WAIT to read Lochlan's and Emma's story **hint-hint Ms. Ashley I hope you write this story**.

Even thought I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I only gave it 4 stars because I was immensely spoiled with "Fairytale Come Alive (Ghosts and Reincarnation #4)" and unfortunately that's now my standard for this series.

The story was pretty good in the beginning and had so much potential, but then it started dragging about a 1/3 of the way into the book and then of course the end just seemed rather rushed. Unfortunately I'll have to say this one may be my least favorite book of Kristen's.

I also feel that KA is hinting at another book in this series with Lachlan and Emma.

The KA binge read continues Jessica and Joanita I believe we might have even picked up a few readers and lurkers along the way at Buddies Books and Baubles

4.25 Lucky Stars

I thought this was going to be the last book in the Ghosts and Reincarnation series but it looks like we will get one more after this about one of the actual ghost hunters sometime which is great because I have had so much fun this this series and I’m happy that we aren’t done yet as each book gets better and better.

In any other book you might think Belle is a little scoundrel I mean she was dating one brother only to fall into bed with the other at a family party in a castle. But she is so shy innocent and it was clear from the first few pages that she was dating a man who didn’t understand her at all. So KA does it again breaking some of the boundaries I have set in my head about hands off your brother’s girl and I was totally on board with a Belle/Jack romance from the beginning.
“She won’t mind?” Belle’s sweet voice had grown louder. “She’s your Mum. How could she not mind that I came to her birthday party with one brother and spent the night with the other?”
“Belle –” Jack tried to break in but she was struggling again in his arms.
“She’s going to think I’m a slut.” Belle’s eyes had left his and she was muttering with agitation as she fought his hold on her. “And rude,” she added and then finished with hilarious melodrama. “Oh my God. She’s going to think I’m rude slut!”

That isn’t to say that they didn’t run into some really big obstacles other than that along the way. Between the sibling rivalry with Jack and Miles, some ghost children living in the castle and Belle’s own past with an abusive husband to get over there is plenty happening.

Like most KA books there is a great cast of side characters that add to all of the fun in the story. Belle is so different from her mother, father and grandma that it is hard to think that they come from the same stock. But it did make for some great and funny times.
“Oh my God!” Rachel shouted. “You two have been fooling around!”
Belle’s body gave a surprised jerk as she felt Jack’s go solid behind her.
Mom wasn’t finished. “You’re fooling around with my daughter while there are ghosts in the house!” she accused Jack as if this was an act akin to rounding up innocent citizens randomly in order to torture them just for kicks.

And

“She’s mooning over Jack,” Gram informed Mom.
“Lots to moon over,” Mom commented. “The man’s got a fantastic behind.”
Gram turned from the window, looked at Mom and shared, “I like his hands.”
Mom grinned. “Yeah, he’s got great hands. And, from Belle’s look this afternoon, I’m guessing he knows how to use them.”
“Mom!” Belle snapped as she walked from the window and threw herself on the bed in front of her mother. She rolled to her back and her mother leaned over her.
“It’s just my way of saying I’m happy for you, honeypot.”

The ghost kids….ah they stole my heart a little and I was really happy how that entire story played out and how the curse that tethered them to this plane was done.

I’m not sure which book in the Ghosts and Reincarnation series I like the best. I still think Fairytale Come Alive beats this one out by just a smidge but this is definitely the less draining emotionally of the two. Still if you are only going to read a few books in this KA series I don’t think you can go wrong with either Lucky Stars or Fairytale come alive.

4-4.5 stars - Another great book from Kristen Ashley!

'Lucky Stars' is a touching and emotionally charged story about two people, Belle and Jack, who are destined to meet and fall in love. They do just that and it's very much love at first sight for both, but after a passionate beginning they are torn apart and each question their initial first impressions. Fate is far from done with them however, and shortly thereafter they're thrust back together (that is to say Jack, like many a KA hero, wrangles Belle back into his life), but they each tread more cautiously, learning one another and eventually developing a deeper and more meaningful love.

I have to admit I was a tad ambivalent towards the meek and mild Belle for a good deal of the book. In fact, it wasn't until I hit about the 70% mark that she finally grew a back bone and while she never reaches sassy-girl territory she was at least more likable. Thankfully, the other characters (ie. Belle's colorful parents, headstrong grandmother, Jack's mom and even Jack's brother Miles) made up for the overly shy and backwards heroine. Jack wasn't anywhere close to being a bonafide KA badass, but he was definitely a take charge alpha (albeit in a business suit) and he fit the story perfectly IMO.

As 'Lucky Stars' is part of the 'Ghosts and Reincarnations' series, it wouldn't be complete of course without a ghost or two thrown into the mix . This time the ghosts are two young children who are bound to castle Chy An Als Point, the ancestral home of rich and famous Jack, and they do their best to help the young couple, especially Belle. Good witch Cassandra and our favorite Scottish ghost hunter Angus make a much appreciated reappearance to help the residents of Chy An Als Point deal with all the ghostly business and Angus enlists the help of his talented niece and nephew, Lorna and Lachlain. Turns out ghost hunting is a MacPherson family specialty and, while they don't get much page time, these two (Lachlain in particular!!) were a real highlight of 'Lucky Stars'.

With how things were left at the end of this story, I'd wager 'Lucky Stars' is certainly not the last installment in the G&R series. I'm seriously hoping Lachlain and Emma's story is next, but I have one small (teensy really) request... can we get the Lachlain/Emma story in at least partial 1st person from Emma's POV??? Getting 3rd person narrative from Lachlain mixed in would be awesome, but KA does such a fah-reaking fantabulous job with 1st person from the heroine, it's part of what sets her stories apart from the rest, that I do miss it when it's not there....

Still 4 stars. I liked this one a lot, but it took me a while to warm up Jack, and I don't like that Bella put up with a lot of his crap. Also, there was a lot going on there at the end. But it's KA. There has to be a bit of extra dramatics. Happy reading!

4 1/2 "Love is a powerful thing." Stars!

I enjoyed this reread quite a bit. It's a good story as are all the books in this series. But honestly Belle kinda got on my nerves. 😕 I don't know why I can tolerate some KA heroines more than others because let's be honest (again) most of them are very similar. 🤔

But anywho. I liked it a lot. "Love is a powerful thing." Happy reading!

4.5. Not quite a 5 star rating for me. I may change it when I get the chance to reread it but for now my initial thoughts were at first that I wasn't going to like it, and that I felt deep disappointment that I may have found a dud. Then I wanted to drop trou and make babies! Then KA broke my heart and made me cry. And then I laughed as loud as I dared with a baby upstairs. And then the ending came around and normally I can keep up but I was getting confused. All of the endings in the G&R series have been action packed and frantic but this one kinda lost me for a wee bit. I was confused as to who was where, and who was who, and who was not who any longer. And then came the cliffhanger at the end that normally pisses me off but I was so immensely satisfied my interest was only slightly peeked. Though I am certainly eager to know where that is going to lead but I was too aglow with happiness to be 'too' bothered. If I smoked I would have been smoking a cigarette by that point.

This book confirmed that this is my favorite KA series. I was waaay happier reading this than I was reading Motorcycle Man. Maybe as I am growing older I am starting to appreciate the more refined British badass, as opposed to his more crass, in-your-face American counterpart.

Naaaah. I love them all. :D

But in all seriousness, this series is not for everybody. The unapologetic paranormal hijinks will cause some people's heads to explode. Which just means that it's perfect for me. I love wacky craziness! The more the merrier. And Kristen Ashley certainly delivers. :)

This is the first book in this series that I've read...so yes they can be read as a stand alone. It took me a long time to get into this one. I liked the paranormal part of the story and the mystery, it was very nicely done.

I did however not feel a connection to the MC's, like I'm used to, when reading a KA book.

Jack was very different from the usual KA hero. I liked him, but he was no "over the top" alpha, and I have to admit, that I like KA's "over the top" alpha's.

Belle to me felt a bit boring. Also very different from the heroines I'm used to reading about, when reading KA.
She was sweet, but she wasn't feisty...she was very very shy, and I like my heroines to be feisty and a bit bitchy. In my opinion, Belle didn't stand up for herself more often. I also had a problem with the whole "sleeping together" on the night they first met. I know it had to do with their strong connection, but it just felt weird, because it didn't fit Belle's character. I'm used to the chase, that usually occurs in a KA book, and I kinda missed that in this one. I also issed the steam...this one was very mild :(

So they are not my favorite KA couple...I can honestly say, they are my least favorite so far. That said..this book still held my attention, because I really enjoyed the mystery part of it. I was at the edge of my seat during the ending, biting all my nails of ;)

So I am gonna give it 3,5 stars, because the storyline was very good. I do however prefer to read about "over the top alpha's" and "feisty heroines" ;)

I start every Kristen Ashley book with ridiculously high hopes for an awesome read. Unfortunately Lucky Stars fell short for me. Probably closer to a 2.5 star rating but I'm bumping it up because I loved the Scottish ghost hunters (The McPhearson!) and am hoping there's a Lochlan book at some point. After Chace & Faye and Ally & Ren get their books, of course.

From the beginning I had a difficult time getting into the story and that didn't really change until about 70% into the book. By that point I continued reading it just for the sake of being done. I didn't relate to Belle, the heroine, but I like the fact she wasn't written like most of KA's other ladys. She was shy and reserved, which might just be a first for KA, and she stayed true to character throughout the book. James unfortunately reminded me too much of most of the other heros in this series. Rich, British, alpha while still remaining refined, has a family member that hates the h and h must endure being around that family member, lives in a big ol' castle that the h is forced to share due to his alpha-ness. Not much new here. In fact most of this book reminded me too much of other books in the series to the point of being a distraction. I kept thinking "didn't I read that in Sommersgate House or Penmort Castle?"

While not my favorite KA by a long shot, I'd recomend this book to those that really love the Ghosts and Reincarnation series and don't mind a little more of the same.

Loved this book so hard! Even though it had crap I NEVER want in my romances
The secondary characters were awesome. The story kept me engaged and the romance was fabulous. Especially after the way they mucked it up in the beginning.

For my Safety Gang there is something else (other than what I mentioned above) that is a HUGE spoiler but is a hot button for some - totally NOT OW/OM related . So do not read this spoiler unless you absolutely have to!

Another less triggery issue but was sad.

I thought KA worked magic with this story. At least for me she did. I know it will be on my re read shelf.

I'd saved some KA's. I decided to break them out for my staycation reading. KA is the perfect staycation reading.

I read this before Fairytale Come Alive because I couldn't remember which came where and I'm glad I did because I think I saved the best to last. This was good but I'd a few problems, well I had one major problem. 'Poppet'.

I did not like that term of endearment. I did not like at all.

KA did throw in a few surprises though so 'Poppet' didn't completely ruin it for me. Ghost and Reincarnation isn't my favourite series but overall I enjoyed it and it was nice having new Kristen Ashley's to read.

Audible Review: Abby Craden is the narrator and I love her. No complaints. She does an awesome job with all the characters.

Story Review: Overall, I enjoyed this story very much. Jack was a pretty great. He was very protective of Belle, which I love to see in a Hero. He wasn't the usual KA A-hole and I was also glad to see there wasn't a long separation...another thing the author likes. This had great side characters that kept the story entertaining and flowing nicely. Belle was a tad bit annoying at times wanting to argue with Jack but it wasn't overwhelming. I would read this one again.

*Another re-read*
I am Loving the supernatural Kristen Ashley, this book is just as good if not better than the four previous books in this series. Kristen Ashley again doesn't disappoint with a swoon worthy hero who I want to take home. The second Jack see's Belle he wants her even though she is on the arm of his brother and that doesn't stop him from making Belle his. Then Belle overhears Jacks mom and friend talking and through a misunderstanding leaves. Four months later Belle's mother and grandmother show up at Jack's office to tell him Belle is pregnant and now Jack won't let her go. When Belle moves in to Jacks castle she see's two children in the house who are ghosts and is told the story about the castle. Two hundred years before and man and his wife and their two children lived there till her long though dead first husband showed up and killed her and the children and now as the story goes will not be released till their mother comes to get them. As the story is told it is made very apparent to Belle and her family that the story sounds very familiar to her and Jack's and they become convinced that Jack and Belle are the reincarnated couple. Then tragedy strikes and help is called in to not only free the children but to keep Belle safe. This story was great Kristen Ashley had me surprised by the twists in this book and anxious for the next in this series.

Another fantastic KA book, that I read with my fellow KA connoisseurs Jessica, Robin and Stephanie.

Jack, however, was not the kind of man who spent a great deal of time considering his actions.
So he didn’t.
She simply was who she was, all of who she was.
And Jack liked it, all of it.
And he wanted it.
So he took it.
But also, he was going to keep it because now it was his.

I’m a sucker for instant chemistry and attraction, and this book had it in spades! The intensity of Belle and James/Jack’s attraction was FANTASTIC.

When he caught her eyes, he spoke. “If you let me in, poppet, even a little bit, I’ll prove it to you. I promise you, I’ll make you understand. This, whatever it is, and we both feel it, is right.

Circumstances brought them together, teared them apart again, and luckily gave them a second chance at happiness. I must admit at first I was a bit hesitant of the reason why Belle and Jack had a second chance at their romance, but as the story progressed you could feel the depth of the connection between these two.

“After last night, Belle, I need my sleep. I still want you to wake me up.”
“Why?” she asked.
“It doesn’t matter why,” he returned and his hand came up, tangling in her hair then he went on to command. “Just wake me, kiss me, tell me good fucking morning and then you can get out of bed.”
“Oh… kay,” she replied hesitantly but not happily. Most of his demands were bossy, definitely, but also somehow sweet. This one was just weird and very concerning. She dropped her eyes to his shoulder and felt her stomach clench. His hand tugged gently at her hair, her gaze went back to his and she saw his face had gone soft.
“I’ll get used to it, having you,” he explained and his voice had gone soft too. “Right now, I’m not used to it.”

I absolutely LOVED Jack. Right from the start. I loved how he called Belle “Poppet”, and I loved how protective he was over her when they first met, and then again after they reconnected. He was yet again the perfect example of a KA hero.

“Poppet,” he said. “If you don’t like the idea of people knowing about us yet then I don’t like the idea of you roaming the halls in the morning looking like you’ve been thoroughly fucked.”
“It’s a good look,” Jack went on, his eyes smiling again as he watched her face. “But it’s my look. I gave it to you. I’m the only one who gets to see it.”

^ That just there is why I can’t get enough of the heroes KA writes. No one writes heroes like KA. They are bossy, dominating, possessive, loving and just plain dreamy.

Belle was the typical KA heroine – cute and sweet, and sometimes sassy. And I loved her and Jack together.

Of course it can’t be a KA book without the wonderful secondary characters. The wilful grandmother; the slightly flaky mother and father; the looney, but nice ex-girlfriend; the evil brother and ex-husband; the ghost hunter Angus McPherson and Cassandra, the white witch (whom also appeared in Penmort Castle). And of course the introduction of 2 new ghost hunters, the twins Lachlan and Lorna McPherson.

I really enjoyed the storyline in this book: the 2 ghost children, who’s been haunting the castle for 200 years, and are unable to move on. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot in this book, and finding out who the bad people were, and why the children have been haunting Chy An Als Point.

Another fantastic book by KA. This has really been a wonderful series, and I can’t wait for the next book which I’m hoping will be Lachlan and Emma’s.

The H calls the heroine “Poppet” all the time, but I don’t think KA was going for Pirates of the C.

Anyhoo, in the land of Kristen Ashley’s chauvinistic, bossy, alpha heroes this guy could be King. He is so BOSSY!

The h and H meet and have a ONS when she’s on a date with his brother. But the brother is the bad guy. Hmmmm? Actually he is the bad guy for reasons no one knows until near the end as this is more a ghost story than a romance or technically a book with sex in it. Sorry…sleep deprivation!

The heroine is another high maintenance KA heroine with a crazy mother and grandmother in tow. This heroine makes her own clothes, and is known as the “Tiny Dynamo” since she singlehandedly saved a schoolbus of children and the bus driver from drowning. I’m not making this up. In the midst of the media stalking following her heroism, the H’s brother gloms onto her and asks her home to the castle. “Lucky Stars” is set in England.

After the epic ONS, the heroine overhears about the ongoing competition between the brothers, refuses to listen to the hero that he really is into her, "Poppet", and leaves the house humiliated. He is very angry she didn’t listen to him.

In true romance form, she ends up pregnant and the hero must have been taking lessons from HP heroes or else the setting got to him because he threatens her with sole custody, has her move in his castle and starts bossing her around some more. Her mother and grandmother move in as well to keep an eye on him.

Side characters are the H and bad brother’s very nice mother and an ex-girlfriend of the H namesd Yazmin who is quite fun. Oh, and there are two ghost children that need fixing so they can go to their just rewards hence the ghost side of the story.

The heroine’s backstory is she was married to a horrible abuser who flits in and out briefly and contributes to the ghost/romance part of the story. I don’t want to say more in case you read it as…SPOILERS. I worry about the heroine though as she seems lower in esteem and IQ than most and has married one abuser, dated a big fat creep and is now pregnant and under the thumb of the bossy H.

HEA as this isn’t just a romance but a fairy tale romance. Trigger issue There is a lot going on with this one, but the writing didn’t have the same pizzaz Kristen Ashley normally has. Kind of a phone it in on the hero perhaps because there is so much going on, but the cast of crazies was fun, more fun than the two major characters.

There is an insanely sweet resolution for the two ghost children, so a thank you to Ms. Ashley for that.

Belle Abbot is known as the "Tiny Dynamo" for a heroic act she did and since then has been considered a national treasure. She has been dating Miles Bennett but she knows it will lead to nowhere and although she is at his mothers birthday party, she plans to break it off. What she didn't expect was to meet James, call me Jack, Bennett. He is Miles brother and the connection is radiating between them. One perfect moment between leads to a full on crash, but fate has a way of bringing this couple back together.

Grab your hankies, get a whole box this is an ugly cry read. I loved this story, it has romance, humor, ghosts, and heartbreak everything you want in a book. So much to delve into but I dont want to ruin the experience for others that have not read this one yet. Well done.

Interminable.

Why does the heroine whisper so much? Bitch speak up! Use your outside voice.

Why does the heroine only every look at the hero's ear. This wilting wallflower dishrag should not be some big ass prize two brothers are vying for no matter how pretty. Even worse the hero insists on calling her 'poppet' she comes off even more infantalized.

Also, really could lop off about ten pages if we removed how many times the hero's name was whispered by the heroine as a point of dialogue.

Boyyyyy did I forget how fucking loooooooong KA's books are. Filled with unnecessary shit and longwinded dialogues. But this one took it to the extreme for me.

And I found it simply boring. When you go into a KA book you know what's waiting for you - the bloody same characters she always writes, seriously they are mostly simply interchangeable between her books, they are always the same stupidly unbalanced pairs, with behavior that go against ANY feminist streak in me. Nevertheless when enough time went by since I read my last KA book, I am browsing through my kindle and find one I have yet to read. Goal: mindless entertainment and no thinking about character building, good writing or a great plot. Shut the brain off and there is a possibility I can really enjoy it. Like The Golden Dynasty or The Wild Men series.

As I said, I knew what to expect, but damn although I read in a short amount of time (I had a free day), it felt like eternity.
And then when I finally fought through it, came a really stupid ending. I am guessing this time my KA break will have to be really loooooong if I ever want to recover from that.

Maybe it would be best to stick to rereading books I know and enjoy.

There’s nothing creepier than child ghosts. Everyone knows that.

Well, except maybe

Kristen Ahley wrote this just to torture me. It's chocked full of shit I can't handle.

Of course, I loved it anyway.

It's an intricate web of characters and moments. Heathcliff and Cathy on the craggy windy slopes. Tender moments of loss. Moments of fear. Moments of funny. Just beautiful. All culminating in a big freakin mess of a resolution. No character is forgotten no thread is dropped. Even the horse gets closure.

Jack is dreamy and compassionate, when he's not an ass. I felt he coddled her a bit too much and there was a bit much of bodies going stiff, rigid, gasping, squeezing her closer. But still a very enjoyable story, despite pushing all my panic buttons.

Minus one star for the creepy ghost kids making me scared of my own little poltergeists who wander my halls late at night. Kids are a little creepy, dont ya think?
