Fujiwara Sunao is a rather unusual young lady. Not only does she prefer to wear her hair short and dress like a boy, but she also possesses the power to control water! One might think Fujiwara would be an odd fit at her school, but strangely, she's not. Between the destructive and demented school president, the kooky and somewhat stalker-like school nurse, and the obsessed underclassman who wants to be her apprentice, Fujiwara may be the sanest person at the school--which is a big help considering she may be asked to save it!
This was all over the place. I know that I had read it during high school or college, but could not remember what it was about so decided to put it in the pile to re-read and see if I want to keep it or not. I will not be keeping it. It has a lot of the asides that some of the early manga that got brought over to the US had. The story is not really... there. Fujiwara dresses up as a guy, has powers over water and helps people. But the problems are solved oddly to say the least, and it all goes off track. The art is quick and not horrible but not great either. It doesn't take that long to read at least.
The protagonist is a girl who likes to dress as a boy as it's highly hinted that she's a reincarnation of a male spirit or something. She also seems to be asexual, even giving no response when another girl sexually assaults her. =_ = There's also another scene where the dad finds out she's a girl and is all like "Be a mother!" That was not welcome.
There wasn't anything too outstanding about Broken Angels. The art was pretty average at best, typical 90s style. The characters were flat, stereotypical and all around boring. The plot seemed promising at first, but my interest didn't hold out for long.
