Rate this book
President Stephen C. Jefferson is back to shake things up once more.

Now that his mistress has been put on ice, he and First Lady Raynetta Jefferson seem to be back on track. She has managed to hurdle over her husband's affairs, but her mother-in-law continues to be the real thorn in her side.
The two women want the president to choose whose side he's on, but President Jefferson has his mind on his job. Sweeping gun-control legislation has been passed, and terrorism is being dealt with in a major way. The president is riding high from his multiple accomplishments, until he's told about a son he never knew he had, a son who has been classified as a dangerous terrorist.
The shocking news brings the president to his knees. His trials and tribulations are more difficult than any he could have ever imagined. His world is crumbling right before his eyes, and a lonely, vengeful first lady is not the one he needs by his side. Neither is the Secret Service, and when an agent decides to make a move toward the first lady, mayhem erupts in the White House like never, ever before.

This dude!

I have no real words to describe how I’m feeling right now...Stephen needs a hefty dose of his own medicine, the First Lady needs to leave, the momma needs to be slapped and the list just keeps growing.

**Trigger Warning: Rape**

I did not like this book. There are just so many issues. First, how does Joshua not know that the president is his father? He knows his grandmother very well. And, his grandmother stays in front of the camera on TV and magazines. How has he not put two and two together. I'm supposed to believe that he has not seen his grandmother on TV standing arm-in-arm with her son the president. That just doesn't make sense.

Second, the first lady was raped. And, yet, it is glossed over like nothing really happened. She attends an event the next day with her attacker. And, I was disgusted that she says it was her fault for putting herself in that situation. How dare you blame the victim? Alex forced himself on her and left bruises, after she repeatedly said she no longer wanted to have sex with him.

Third, the president's reaction to Raynetta's affair was disgusting. He threw her around the room and assumed that the bruises were inflicted through some form of pleasure. That left a bad taste in my mouth and completely ruined his character.

Fourth, the president dragged his mother down the stairs and locked her in a mental institution. This was yet another example of the president being physically abusive to the women in his life.

Fifth, the nonsense at the end with Claire, Ina, and Levi. Like what? Seriously, where did this even come from? This whole situation was just so far out in left field, and it was barely explained. It felt incredibly rushed and messy.

Sixth, the hotel that the first lady was staying in blew up, and she magically walks through the office door. Once again, not explained at all. This scene just seemed incredibly unnecessary, but I suppose it is a setup for book three.

Seventh, why did Michelle Peoples and Levi both have to be bad people? Is there anyone in this series that I am allowed to like?

I want to give this book a 5 star so bad, but it is really hard. Don't get me wrong becuz it was really good, but Teresa was pissing me off. On top of that I don't like reading stories about men having affairs constantly with a woman when they have a wife. Things like that can put a strain on marriages and cause some wives not all do sometimes so thing in retaliation when they no it is wrong. Yes what is done in the dark does come to light, but when does the woman realize enough is enough. Good read

Very Good Read

I just love this Black President series. The author really grabs you right from the beginning to the book to the very end. The plots and twist is so good. When you think you finally figured out what is happening, then something else happens that make you think well maybe that is not the person who was involved.
I look forward to reading the next book i. The series.

Umm, I’m torn. The drama wasn’t funny for Mi like the first read, but this read did keep Mi interested. I wanted to feel bad for them but I just could not, they all made their beds. He was better this go round, yet not enough accountability....She was illogical to say the least, yet I still understood her madness, And the other one LMAO she as an iniquitous aura, yet rather righteous, tell Mi how can this be? Well I guess good writing skills can make it happen.

I accidentally started this one before the first book in the series (Black President: The World Will Never Be the Same). I do think this one's a step up from the first, though I'm sure part of that opinion has to do with the audio, which I found well done. (I read the first book in e-book form.)

Came back to read the second half of Trouble in the White House after finishing Black President. I'd been expecting this series to be contemporary romance, but instead it feels more like action/drama with a side of romance - sort of like if a few episodes of Scandal were a book, and Fitz (the president) were black. You definitely have to suspend belief for some of the plot points - but if you're in the mood for a dramatic romp, you may very well love them!

Content warnings: rape scene, victim blaming, domestic abuse, infidelity, violence, assault

Drama!Drama!
No matter what Raynetta and Stephen went through you can see the love but will they divorce or stay together and how will she react to his son and Teresa.
Now that Stephen has his son everybody better watch out because he coming back with vengence. This book touched to love, greed, rape, lust, betrayal and politics.

The problem with listening to a book on cd is that sometimes the disc is damaged....and this fucker skipped on me at the climax of the story. I missed out on two chapters, but I can't fault the write for that. The voice acting was not as amazing as the first in the series, but still pretty entertaining. I was a bit let down by the ending of the book. But all in all a fun guilty pleasure.

I didn’t know what to expect with this book. Once I got started, it was hard to put down. There was constant drama with each character and made for an enjoyable read. I can’t wait for the next book.

Goodness! Where was I when this was originally released! Sheesh! The drama still didn’t stop! More bombs being dropped! The President can’t trust anyone at this point not even his Mother or the First Lady. It’s more to their story that may end up working out in his favor. My head spinning 🤦🏾‍♀️😩

I dislike the ending, there wasn’t closure. The end left too much unanswered.

Drama at its finest. President Jefferson is starting to irk my nerves. Where is the polished man we all expect when we think about POTUS?! I guess anything is possible in a world after Trump.

OMG. What an awesome discovery. Brenda Hampton did a fantastic job. Without giving away too much....let me say... what a timely piece of fiction. President Stephen Jefferson and his wrangling and situation had me drawn in from page one. I had no idea this was a series. I have got to read the first book.

The writing had me reflecting on the antics that occur with Commanders in Chief, their cabinet, family and inclinations. Big issues....Party clamoring and home lives colliding. It’s all here.

Please read. You will laugh, shake your head and retort in amazement. You will receive a lesson and a blessing. Fiction can open our ideas......this one did: The number one focus for Commanders in Chief is NATIONAL SECURITY. Cabinet members and congressional leaders run for office and abandon their platform for individual agendas and personal greed. Family members come with baggage. When others aim low.....we don’t always aim high. Wives and mistresses....my oh my.....Read.....Read......Read.....Read!
