Covenant is the long-awaited sequel to the Alien franchise, and Covenant – Official Collector’s Edition brings you everything you need to know about Ridley Scott’s latest masterpiece!
When a shipload of human colonists investigates an apparently habitable planet, they have no idea of the horror they are about to discover. But the biggest danger may perhaps come from a more unexpected source…
Covenant – Official Souvenir Edition brings you all you need to know about the making of the blockbuster movie, including stunning photography and exclusive concept art, and interviews with cast and crew including Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, 12 Years a Slave), James Franco (127 Hours, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Billy Crudup (Watchmen, Spotlight), and Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Steve Jobs).
Not the most comprehensive behind-the-scenes look at the making of a film but there is a good cross-section of interviews with the cast and crew, as well as concept art and photos from the set, to make this worth the time for either the very casual reader or the total completist.
I am the latter type and, while I enjoy having this in my collection, I cannot help but notice that much of the interview material is similar to the filmed interviews included on the Blu-ray for Alien: Covenant as well as in the Art of Alien: Covenant companion book. This tells me that there was pretty much one junket of interviews conducted with the gang and the BTS crew and editors putting together these books were forced to cull everything they could from these conversations and spread them across multiple media platforms.
I will say that, having gone through all of these, there is something unique to every platform. There will be a quote or an image that is only available in the Collector's Edition, the Blu-ray, and the Art of book to make having them (or reading them) all a worthwhile endeavour for the completist.
A behind - the - scenes look at the latest Alien film. Features interviews with director Ridley Scott and members of the cast and crew. There is also concept art and plenty of photos. I would have liked a little bit more into the making of Alien: Covenant, but overall this is a solid read.
Fortunately, I found this for quite cheap. It didn't really offer much that excited me, and the insights gleaned from the cast and crew were not any different from you would expect to see in a behind-the-scenes featurette. Weirdly enough, I probably liked the section about costumes the best.
