Summer McKidd is a bright, compassionate 7th grader. She has a good group of friends, which can be a hard feat for someone in junior high. She and her friends love to sing in their choir at school, and this is where her trouble begins. At the fall concert, her friends drag her into a mean prank and Summer is soon sentenced to nursery duty at church. When she walks into the nursery, she sees that the victim of their prank is also a volunteer. Summer begins a friendship with this girl but soon sees that she will have to choose between her group of friends and her new friend. Can Summer do what is right and keep her friends?
WOW!! I can't wait to have my girls read this! It's all about peer pressure and middle school drama. We know that will never go away! How to deal with it is tricky, even when your parents raised you to be a good kid. So many situations come up amongst friendships, it's hard for girls to figure out how to navigate them well. Do you stand by your old friend out of loyalty or stand up for what is right? My favorite line is ‘Bad company corrupts good morals.’ Such a good reminder!

Summer McKidd is a remarkable good kid who gets caught up in the emotions of comparison and fitting in and end up in a situation that she didn't plan. How will she handle the aftermath? Can she stand up for what's right without hurting her friends?
Kimble has perfectly captured the joy and angst that middle school girls are subjected to on a regular basis. Great read especially for girls in the 9-12 range. Leaves parents with an opportunity to discuss peer pressure and the the issues of association with a group. A message that is timely for all middle grade readers - and leaves you wanting to know what will happen next with Summer and her choir friends!
I received a copy of this book from TouchPoint Press in exchange for my honest review.
Soprano Trouble tackles real issues that plague this age group, focusing on friendship and bullying and being torn between the two. Victoria Kimble is able to capture the angst and essence of middle school girls in this book.
Even as an adult reading this, I could relate to the characters and when the book ended I wanted to read more. Luckily this will be a series of books, so we will get to find out more!
This book also uses practical biblical truths in an organic way that does not sound preachy or contrived.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Well, this was just delightful! I'm always on the lookout for a good series for my daughter, who is just a touch younger than the target demographic here, but will be ready for it soon - and I think the Choir Girls series is going to be just perfect.
I'm always impressed when an author can write a book that really captures the essence of junior high - that self-absorbed yet truly seeking part of a young person's life. Kimble infuses this novel with enough fun to draw her audience in, yet remains thoughtful throughout, never talking down to or underestimating her readers. This is certainly a book about tweens, but the ideas of standing up for what's right and being brave enough to confront a friend when they are in the wrong are applicable far beyond those junior high years.
Kimble writes from a place of faith - Summer and her friends attend church, and there are references to the Bible and its teachings - but the novel never feels preachy or stuffy. I appreciated the way the author was able to convey the moral message of the story organically within the flow of the narrative.
I'm thrilled to have found this series, and I can't wait to read more! Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a light-hearted yet smart read for their mid-grade reader.
(I received an Advance Copy of the book from TouchPoint Press in exchange for my honest opinion - but I will definitely be purchasing this series for my daughter's shelf!)
Oh the Angst! Oh the Drama!! Oh what's a good girl to do when faced with the seemingly impossible choice of being loyal to your lifelong friends or doing the right thing even if it means you and they might get in trouble! This wonderful story accurately depicts the trials and tribulations of middle school and empowers young readers to figure out how they too can handle similar situations. It points out that they know what to do without being preachy! This is an excellent read for kids in 4th-8th grade and the adults who love them! I received and Advance Reader Copy of this in exchange for my honest review.
My daughter is on the fringe of this age group, and as she gets older I'm constantly looking for age appropriate ways to encourage her to make good decisions and to stand up for what she believes in.
Victoria Kimble's Soprano Trouble does a great job with describing the unique tension of middle school years. Kids are beginning to be able to really choose their friends, and it's hard to stand up for something if it means going against those you consider cool. Kimble's book took me immediately back to my own experiences, and I found it to be realistic and accurate and also encouraging! I can't wait to have my daughter read it-- and the rest of the series!

Took me right back to Jr. High and all the drama that it involves. Great story line and application of a young girl who faces tough decisions in her circle of friends. VERY realistic and encouraging to young readers & parents alike. We need more books like this on the shelf in schools, librarys and homes. I'm ordering copies for several of my friends. I received an ARC from Touch Point Press in exchange for an honest review. Can't wait for more stories from this Author!
Victoria Kimble has mastered the emotions of a tween girl! This story follows the story of four friends that get themselves into a typical middle school friendship scuffle that revolves around choir participation and a girl on the fringe. The end result leaves you with a teachable moment with your own tween girl! A timely topic and an encouraging story!
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher. This is my honest review.
Excellent! Victoria Kimble did an amazing job defining and bringing out the individuality of each of her characters. The story is well-written, with great characters, good dialogue and terrific description. I’m looking forward to the rest of the The Choir Girls Series. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Fantastic read!! A great story on friendship and is very relatable to the target audience. My daughter is in love with this series already! I did receive this book in return of an honest review. Can't wait until the second book!
Soprano Trouble is a book my kids and I loved! That's saying a lot because I have 12- and 10-year old BOYS and a 3 year old girl.
Victoria Kimble did an excellent job of bringing to life junior high - such a nice job, in fact, that I was flooded with my own memories of growing up. We have all been there, haven't we? I know I have! In elementary school, I could identify with the young girl who gets relentlessly picked on. In junior high, I was more like Summer... a nice girl with friends who didn't always do the right thing.
Sometimes, looking back, I wonder how my life (or those of others around me) might have been different had I the courage to stand up for what I believed in or had known to be right. This book has the heart and potential to encourage young and old alike to stand strong, love others, and be a friend. I absolutely love Ms. Kimble's book dedication to her three girls: "I pray that you will have the courage to influence others for the Lord, and that you will not be easily influenced by the world." because this is the kind of positive and encouraging message kids need to hear.

What a great debut to what will no doubt be a wonderful series for the tween crowd! Soprano Trouble tackles so many relevant topics, and not limited to just this age group either! Summer McKidd loves choir and loves her friends, but when jealousy over another classmates talents pushes her friends to resort to bullying, Summer must choose between what she knows in her heart to be right or her oldest friends. Victoria Kimble does a wonderful job of tackling the pressures and inner conflict that we sometimes have to face when long time friends become people we don't want to be like. Summer's struggle is one that countless girls will relate to, after all we all just want to feel like we know where we belong. A great read! I can't wait until my own daughter is old enough for the series, but in the meantime I'm excited to share it friends whose daughters are in this age group and I just know they will love it!

After finishing "Soprano Trouble," I know two things for sure. One, I'm glad I never had to deal with a bully like Cammie Dunn, and two, this book will be valuable for girls who do.
Summer McKid seems to be the type of pre-teen to whom most girls can relate. Stretched between good and bad influences, she must juggle diverse relationships and attempt to navigate her way through the complicated landscape that is Jr. High.
Victoria did a great job writing characters that are relatable, staging scenarios that are familiar, and highlighting the consequences that come with making bad decisions. I think young girls will find "Soprano Trouble" to be a powerful story they can turn to during this challenging period in their life. I look forward to reading the subsequent books in this series once they're released. Five stars.

Soprano Trouble depicts the real struggles that face middle school girls. The fabulous four (Summer, Cammie, Brittany, and Maddie) are best friends who do everything together. The limits of that friendship are tested when Cammie's fierce competitiveness turns mean. Victoria Kimble wonderfully depicts the struggle to choose what is right when your friend is the one doing wrong.
My daughters (ages 12 and 10) and I read the book. They noted that the book is a quick read and the details kept them interested in the story line. Compared to what they experience at school, the details of the book were realistic and the book helped them think about how they would react in a similar situation.

As a mom of 4 girls, two in the tween-ish stage, I am invested in developing their moral compass in a variety of ways. This book has a great mix of real life junior high problems, wanting to fit in, knowing what is right, and wrestling with the decisions that need to be made in a messy, organic type of way, incorporating some biblical truths that come from a 16 year old older sister. Books like these are a nice reinforcement that there will always be problems, but to keep an eye out for good friends, and to be a good friend. Looking forward to more in the series!

I was privileged to receive an advanced reader copy from TouchPoint Press for Victoria Kimble’s “Soprano Trouble”. This took me back to when I read all the books written by Judy Blume! I couldn’t put this one down and read it all in one day!! I love the story and it keeps you engaged and visualizing that you were in the story. Even more, I love the biblical and life lessons featured that will help these age of young readers relate to life even more! Can’t wait to read the next ones in the series!
I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It showed a lot of the peer pressures that middle school kids are dealing with in a very relatable way. It left me wanting more, I was disappointed when the book was over. It is relevant and enjoyable and any middle school girl will enjoy reading it. I highly recommend it, my own 7th grader is looking forward to reading it as well.

Remember junior high school? Victoria Kimble brings those awkward times to life through Summer McKidd, her friends, her family, and her classmates. Kimble uses humor, preteen angst, and compassion to bring her 7th-grade characters to life. Your girls will love the read and might even learn a life-lesson in the process! I'm looking forward to the next 'Choir Girls' book already. I received an advanced reader copy from TouchPoint Press in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fantastic book for girls! Middle school is tough, and it's not always easy to do the right thing. I am so excited to give this book to my daughter to read because it's incredibly important for kids to read books with a positive message! I look forward to reading the rest of "The Choir Girls" series!

My 10 and 12 year old daughters immensely enjoyed Soprano Trouble and so did I! I am always on the lookout for wholesome books that my girls enjoy and this book fits the bill. Here’s what my 10 year old said, “I read Soprano Trouble in one sitting because it was so interesting. I liked the plot.” My 12 year old said, “I loved the characters and the story line! It’s a really good book by a really good author!”
I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
A charming read for tweens about doing the right thing, fitting in and the complicated world that is friendship. My 5th grader enjoyed the book too and it opened some great discussions about what she would have done if she had been in the story. This would be a perfect book for the shelves of a middle grades classroom. Both my daughter and are are looking forward to the rest of the series.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Kimble brings the angst of middle school friendships to life in this debut novel. The characters are fun, relatable, and realistic.
As a mom of daughters, I enjoy that Kimble keeps the story clean and accessible to girls maintaining their innocence of childhood even in the throes of friendship troubles.
I received an ARC from the publishers. This is my honest review.
Excellent read. Nailed Jr. High issues. Perfect for the target age. Beautifully done l received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
To get straight to the point, Soparano Trouble is a page turner and an all-around wonderful book. The author does a great job of capturing the feelings, angst, social issues, and language of middle schoolers while telling a captivating story. The message is realistic and also uplifting, and subtly includes important life lessons without coming across as cheesy. I would recommend it to any middle schooler (or even younger), girl or boy.

I read this great little novel in one sitting! The main character is a middle school girl, but as a single with no kids yet, it was still such a fun read. I look forward to the next installment from Victoria Kimble!

This is an amazing book! I received an advanced reader copy from TouchPoint Press in exchange for an honest review, and it was truly amazing! Can't wait for others in series to come! NS, age 10.
I don't have a tween daughter (or a daughter of any age), but I can enthusiastically recommend Soprano Trouble for girls in that age group. Victoria Kimble does a wonderful job of crafting a story that captures the struggle of making good choices at that age, of standing up for right when it's the hard thing to do.
I like that the book promotes faith-based values. It seems like a lot of Christian fiction can be overly preachy or really kind of cheesy, but Soprano Trouble is none of that. It's well-written, and faith is an integral part of the story, not something just tossed in to make a point. And the lessons in the book can be applied well past the middle-grade years. I may not have daughters, but I'll be reading the rest of this series for myself
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own, and I don't say nice things about books I don't like.
Author, Victoria Kimble, has written a winner! If you have a tween or middle schooler, you will want to check it out! I enjoyed it so much I couldn't put it down! As I read, I was reminded of my own struggles with friendships at this age and the difficulty of finding the balance of wanting to make good choices, but to be liked and included at the same time. With such a relatable storyline, your kids will definitely fall in love with the book and the characters. And as a mom, having read this book, I can tell you that your reader will be getting not only a great story, but solid life lessons in an entertaining way.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you have a tween girl or teach them, I recommend this book. Middle school can be tough, relationships even tougher, but this sweet book navigates all this emotions! It has been a wonderful book to read to my daughter and discuss all the feelings and thoughts the characters and situations provoke.
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So my 11 year Old SON started reading this book last night. Little background on him- He reads everything and I can't keep enough books for him. We go to the library every 2 weeks and get about 30 books and he's done in a week. He read the whole Harry Potter series in a couple of weeks. He's read the whole City of Ember series in 10 days. Would have been sooner but he had school. So last night when he told me he needed something to read I suggested he read Soprano Trouble. I pulled it up from my email on my iPhone since I had an advanced copy. My tiny little iPhone - and he started reading it when he went to bed - with hesitancy, since it was a 'girls book'. He just told me this morning as he left for school that he wishes he could take the iPhone with him to school because he wants to finish the book because he likes it so much. When he came home from school he finished reading the entire book- on the little iPhone 4 screen. He loved it. Stated that it will be an awesome series. He said he can't wait to read the whole series.
